I'd like to play it again, after having invested so much time in A2 and again in A3, but I just can't find the right fucking group. Everyone is either asking me to salute some 13 year old when I join the server and go through training over basic shit I've known for years, or they're spouting fucking memes and crashing the transports while we do nothing but play Insurgency or Patrol Ops.
Same problem here. It's like a taboo in the arma community to just want to shoot shit.
why do you play insurgency? Why not play splatoon
It's nice. BI got some more money but they also demonstrated to be a strong company and they continued pushing out the core game unchanged by the popularity of the casual fanbase.
If anything a3 is more complex.
it was pretty okay.
I ignored the 4chan drama bit
I only turned up for ops almost daily
I filled my role.
It's people like you who know about all the drama and who said what when where to who, who are the real problem.
the operator/"just whatever we're doing it to relax" balance was really good.
If only BIS invested there money into making their game run well, it's still a critical failure to offload graphics onto the cpu i'm willing to bet my paycheck that still won't change with ArmA 4.
I did the same shit with FFAAA a long, long time ago when they recruited on /v/ all the time. Despite the interpersonal drama, it was a fun group, for a little while at least.
Game runs pretty well considering what it manages to do with all the complex calculations, pmuch biggest map in gaming, very complex AI and alife, shitload of physics and collision etc.
Sure it's not perfect but if you're gonna complain about that son you don't like the game that much anyway. But yeah, a new engine would be nice, finally.
Arma 4 will use and all new engine, DayZ is being 'made'(fucking kek) with an updated version of arma #'s because its already a year+ behind release and they don't care anymore.
Why do you think BI cares about one of their products and not the other? They're a good company, they just didn't have enough money to acquire/make a new engine until DayZ released and brought in 100 mil or whatever it was. The Enfusion engine is why DayZ's development is taking so long, and also why ArmA 4 hasn't been announced yet.
I think small bouts of it is healthy. When you play with the same folks over and over again, some things might agitate you, and it's good to clear the air. It also lets you kick out the fucks who cause problems all the time.
I've ran A2 through a3 on an OC i5 2500k.
I don't think much can be done. It's like flight sims, a niche hobby so it's valid to expect that the few who actually play it would have no problem sinking some bux into a decent processor.
I mean cpu upgrade is way cheaper than joystick/pedals/trackIR
And arma 3 is not marketed towards kids.
I mean I was a kid when I started out with ofp but that's besides the point
I wonder if arma is really a bad game, or if the collective autism of /v/ just likes to judge a game based on engines.
Its not bad, but like the other guy said- mediocre. It tries to accomplish so much (and it does, and with mods it does even more), but at the end of the day it's such a finicky game that you'll spend almost as much time fixing files and tweaking settings as you will just playing it. I guess it's like the focus was on features, but not on making the core of the game function 100% properly before adding in all the other shit.
That being said, I still really enjoy it, but it does piss me off a lot of times. And I can never join mp games for some reason, so that obviously is a major strike against it.
am i just fucking retarded because i cant seem to customize ARMA3 to be optimized on my PC?
GTX 960, 4.1 processor with 8x cores, 16GB Ram, not an insane build by any means but I really feel like it shouldn't be crazy difficult to break 35 fps on medium settings. ive gone through tons of forums and applied every optimization change no matter how minor and i still cant get it to run even half decent. the MP is legit fun, but playing with such a low FPS almost makes it not worth it.
>I can never join MP games
^Right here. A lot of times when you load up the server list you'll get kicked out of the first four or five you try to join because the server requires people to have a membership on whatever website is hosting it. Super annoying, and the ARMA community is seriously garbage. One of the more autistic/edgelord communities out there.
I really don't stick to one, and I've been trying a lot out to see which one works best. the arma life servers are honestly the worse, i never go near those. King of the Hill and Wasteland seem to be better if im in a decent server, but still have a tendency to get choppy.
King of the hill kills my fps too. For wasteland i play on Sa-matra ones. I can easy get 50-60fps on those.
Life mods are smooth only after restart. Takes like 1 hour for it clutter up.
I know the feeling bro. I'm doing that right now.
It's not that difficult, Anon. Get yourself set up so you can use infantry, and then from that move on to doing vehicle stuff. I bet rebinding everything is exhausting, and I get that.
Yep that's what happens. It makes me mad, though, because A2 provided me with some of the coolest mp experiences I've ever had in a game. I was thinking A3 would be better, especially now that ACE is out, but instead barely any servers play it and I can never get into them anyway.
The community is shit, I would agree. You seem to either get Altis life players who just fuck around, or super serious dickheads that make it no fun. The only servers I can get into with any consistency seem to be KotH and they are fun, but damn do the people usually suck.
I don't mind teamwork and tactics and all that, but ultimately I'm just there to have fun doing missions and stuff and for some reason A3 is very disappointing in that regard. I just want my Fallujah server back.
At least I have found a general binding for FPS's
8456 on numpad replacing WASD, 7 to reload, PGDOWN to Use, Enter to crouch, + to go prone, arrow left to lean left, right to lean right, down to jump
I'm very comfortable with it in Red Orchestra
That doesn't sound too bad. If your control scheme works for RO, it's just a few more buttons for Arma. Grenade Button, stance mod, etc. The keybindings may look intimidating, but they aren't actually that bad.
I'm using http://www.rhsmods.org/ for the american and russian stuff.
On the steam marketplace I'm subscribed to these mods:
It doesn't affect how it looks, but I also have these two installed when I play:
Worst part is, it doesn't seem like A2 is active anymore. So there's nothing to really fall back on. PR is fun, but its not as exciting as Arma and I got locked out of my account anyway. Squad could be promising, but it'll be a few years before it really blossoms, I think. RO2 is essentially dead, and insurgency is frustratingly fast paced to me and the community is either dead quiet or retarded.
There is a grenade button in RO2 too but I couldn't find a key that would let me throw it while running and aiming at the place so I just select it from inventory before throwing
Dont know if you enjoyed Takistan insurgency back A2, but there is still one server alive and well
Plenty of people each day, at like 2-5 a clock.
I'm just tinkering around. I sometimes make missions with all this content. I'm not sure if CUPS and AiA will conflict, I haven't test it. I make some simple missions with these content, I'll post them here if feel like publishing them. I usually make them for groups of like 4 or 5 guys.
I don't know what compatibility files are.
This is awesome, thanks anon. I'll download and try it out.
Yeah it's shitty having bayonet on at all times
I tried the Sound Mutator offline with bots today and it was so good, vanilla guns feel and sound like toys in comparison, and engineers with 15KGs of explosives on their backs finally run a bit slower than a Stoßtrupp with a single MP40 and a grenade.
But it's the weak beta nerds that can't succeed in the real world that join the army, anon
Let us hold a moment of silence for the only arma group that didn't ask you to salute to some 13 year old and have basic training nor only played insurgency and patrol ops
No problem. The server runs Takistan 24/7, so hope you like that map. The map switches faction every time the mission is complet, so you get a chance to play with every weapon.
casual arma done right
the coms are there and everyone almost know what they are doing
we dont do the the whole "yes sir" routine but instead focus on what matters such as being there and wooping ass
>the greatest operator will never come back to /a3g/
>the only way to see him now is to play the A3G RPG
a small price to pay for permanent euphoria
Arma is dead
Squad under 40 buckaroos when?
Arma 3 was a huge disappointment for me and compared to the other games I've barely even touched it.
I bet I had a billion hours in OFP.
I got it during the steam sale on some recommendations, played a bit, and am not really sure what the fucking point of it is. It seems like all I do in whatever server I join is walk/run to a place that seems to be having some sort of firefight. And then when I get there it's either done or it's just like two people. What is the appeal of this?
