Can someone explain these user review scores to me? I agree that Battlefront is not worth fucking $60 (mostly because it's pretty lacking in game content for that price).
But a 3.4/10 average score? Playing this game has honestly been one of the most fun multiplayer experiences I've had in years, and the game as a whole feels extremely polished. I find it hard to get frustrated as a game as arcadey as this
What gives with that review score? Why does everyone hate battlefront so much?
it pretty much seems like everyone's just salty that it's not like the old pandemic games. It's still very fun in it's own right. I wonder how it would be received if it were not titled as a part of the battlefront series? If it were just "Star Wars Battle" or some shit?
I care, because the reviews are SO bad that they almost kept me from buying it - even though I knew I enjoyed the beta and even though two of my friends had already bought it. I got it on sale for $30 finally and play it almost every night. It's not getting old, the gameplay is solid.
The review scores gave me the implication that there were actually major problems with the gameplay other than it just not being like the older battlefronts. It wasnt what people were hoping for, but I wasn't hoping for anything in particular so I found it to be great when I first picked it up. It's overpriced for what it is, but definitely not a 3/10 like some buggy piece of shit
because it is literally a game that says to you "yeah we never seen star wars"
>what does that mean look at the graphics and listen to the sound effects
if you think tie fighters on hoth is okay you are a fucking mega casual, the reason at-ats were used was because the shields would not let them bring in tie fighters
Got a refund for this.
A wooping 6 unique characters and unlimited ammo overheated guns with the same zoom function.
Oh I only have one option to spawn in and I get spawnkilled instantly cool bra
User score should ditch 2-9 and just have yes/no, and then it says X% liked this like steam reviews does.
A user score of 3.4/10 leads me to believe 34% of people who go to meta critic liked it.
> Playing this game has honestly been one of the most fun multiplayer experiences I've had in years, and the game as a whole feels extremely polished
you're part of the cancer killing games, star wars, and many other things
I've played for like 25 hours and I've only been spawn killed maybe 3 times. I play on PC and it seems like most people are not very good. I read that more people play it on ps4 than on xbone and PC combined
just like the old battlefronts
wait for DLC
only legit complaint
>No Clone Wars
this is a good thing
>Vehicles are power ups
it balances the gameplay
>£60 season pass
what are you poor?
>It's not Battlefront 3
User reviews on metacritic are always on one extreme. If you play a game and find it okay, why would you write a metacritic review for it? Metacritic scores consist 100% of shills, trolls and angry mobs.
How new are you?
Whenever a huge AAA title comes out, people here go to Metacritic and bomb it with bad scores. It's been going on for like 3 years now. Battlefield is mediocre as fuck, but sure as hell not a 3.4.
>>£60 season pass
>what are you poor?
>>It's not Battlefront 3
Even the main EA fuckboi youtubers who do BF4 videos haven't made many videos on Battlefront.
They haven't even been making BF4 videos lately they have been making R6 Siege videos instead.
Because Dice made what amounts to an arcade game with pretty graphics and tried to sell it for full price.
>Menus look like they're from a phone game
>No communication built in aside from shitty emtoes
>Characters are limited in their options outside of shooting.
>Vehicle gameplay is incredibly barebones and regulated to powerups instead
>Game is horribly imbalanced. Imperials often have an advantage based on the mode, and have better heroes. Plus there are so many direct upgrades to weapons that anyone just starting out has even more of a disadvantage
>Respawn points are like CoD, but unlike CoD you're way more liable to respawn right out in the open and instantly die
>Only what, 4 maps that are chopped up depending on the mode? Then they charge you 50 for more? That's ridiculous
Like many things chances are it was pushed out the door to capitalize on the holiday season and the movie launch
>Low playerbase because see above
>Low retention ( look at no of copies vs no of players)
>Less content than two prior games from ten years ago with much smaller teams
>Overly arcadey game play
>No Galactic Conquest
>No X Y and Z from previous games
>Full pricetag, plus tons of DLC
>No server browser
>Shit online functionality (no proper parties/squads)
>Basically no difference between weapons/loadouts
>Shit half baked flight, obviously thrown in to counter people complaining about it missing in the months coming up
>On rail ATATs
And so on and so on, now the good points
>It looks nice
tl;dr, fuck you OP because YOU are the reason that shit games like these get made because YOU are the one that rewards shit work with money and then more money in the form of DLC that should have been in the game originally. YOU are ruining the gaming industry.
I have about 1k hours between BF1/2
User reviews get hammered by bandwagoners on games that it's popular to hate. It's mostly underage shitters from this board and reddit doing it.
Spending more than 5 seconds thinking about it, let alone making a fucking thread about it, is giving these kind of shitstains way more recognition than they deserve
Well it just goes to show that not even they want to make videos about it and that there is no interest in them. These are the guys who get flown out by EA to go to events and paid ronku bucks to make videos about the game.
If there was interest they would be making them, instead they are playing Siege, Squad and other games and releasing videos of them instead.
>fewer maps, often split up across modes to make it look like there are more
>pretty much 0 communication, no point in there even being teams
>no variety across any heroes
>no variety across any loadouts
I could go on for days
Honestly, I'd rather play CoD.
I love the way the blasters feel. This game gives me the same vibe Dark Forces did when I was a little kid, I really enjoy it
I guess it's only fun to you if you really love star wars shit because I see a lot of people ITT arguing that it is not fun at all
Heaps of people that played the previous Battlefront games hate it because unless it's *exactly the same* as the previous games, it's total shit. Also I guarantee most haven't even played it, but they know it's shit because reasons.
>The review scores gave me the implication that there were actually major problems with the gameplay other than it just not being like the older battlefronts
Because there are, you are fucking cancer.
We live in an era in which people tend to rate things either with a 0 or a 10. This one got more 0s than 10s and it got that incredibly low score.
I haven't played but I'm pretty sure, like you, that the game gets a pass, even if it is not a 10/10
>Imperials often have an advantage based on the mode, and have better heroes.
Which is basically never? The only single game mode they have an advantage on is turning point but that is only because of the retarded spawns on the last capture point.
Also Rebel heros are a million times better than imperial heroes. Stuns for days and the Han has the highest damage output possible among the heros and villains.
>Still sold 13 million in 2 months
How? No seriously how? How the fuck did they do it? Why the fuck do people eat this shit up? Why do they eat this shit up when its already obvious its shit? How the fuck are those 13 million even allowed to live?
When will this industry crash and burn? Seriously video games would be better off dead than the state they are in now.
People like you is exactly why developers are consistently lowering games' quality standards while still asking $60 or $70.
>b-b-b-but it's a mediocre game, why aren't people playing a mediocre game in an industry with thousands of games released per year?
Fuck off and die, low standards shitstain
What you don't seem to understand is that you and me, the "informed consumer", we're the exeption.
These 13 million are little kids that say "mom I want Star Wars for Playstation!", normies that usually play FIFA and Halo, and people who make their buying decisions based on TV ads. They're the market, not us. This is why "voting with your wallet" and boycotting doesn't work. This is why SJW complaints are irrelevant in the grand scheme of things. It's all just buying power driven by marketing, with people who consume the media so unenthusiastically that they don't even realize when they're playing a shit game.
Plus, Battlefront released along with The Force Awakens, which had more hype than pretty much anything else in the history of media.
Well it had sold pretty average up until Christmas shopping took place. Then you have all these people buying copies of the game as gifts for gamers and/or Star Wars fans they know. Pushing it through as a half assed effort to coincide with Christmas and the movie got the job done just as well as investing more time and money to make a good game.
Yeah, kind of. The only MP I put any actual time into was GTA online and BF4 over the past couple years, and I dont enjoy the MP in either of them all that much, was mostly just playing with IRL friends. Probably the last really fun MP game I played before Battlefront was was Splinter Cell Blacklist. Shame that brilliant game is hidden behind such a shitty convoluted interface.
I admit I have not been gaming nearly as much as I used to, and I haven't been browsing /v/ because of it
That's hilariously wrong because I'm a pretty big Star Wars fan, tried to come at the game as a fanboy, and was sorely disappointed. The guns feel awful and inaccurate. The only thing satisfying about getting a kill are the death animations.
>Also I guarantee most haven't even played it,
I love this argument because I'm probably better than every faggot defending this trash
Hit 50 and dropped the fuck out of this game. Wouldn't recommend it to anybody
>Have shit opinion
>Get called out on having shit opinion
>Don't have an actual argument so just cry
>Wah people think my opinion is shit
Why not fuck off back to your hugbox where you can suck cock for internet points instead.
User reviews are memes by this point and should never be taken seriously.
>Total phenomenal pice of garbage. EA stand no more for Electronic Arts, but for Elusive Actions and DICE, who the fok is DICE, do they still creates games ?
P.s: can't wait to offer this garbage game to my ex girlfriend as a parting gift~
>Someone else has different opinion
>Fails to understand basic human nature
>Gets triggered and cries about it on the internet
>Stays in circle jerk.
Inability to understand human interaction is a sign of autism anon.
>wait for DLC
>it balances the gameplay
>what are you poor?
I bet you think these are actual legitimate arguments don't you?
>this is a good thing
I want to play as fucking Clones and droids you double nigga
>I enjoyed the beta
Battlefront II is more deep than this game in every gameplay manner. That includes with infantry, vehicles, heroes, spawns, and map design.
because anons only argument in favor of this game is 'y-you just didn't play it'
He deserves to get shit on if he's not interested in actually discussing the game - INCLUDING the negative aspects.
You are the guy that has an opinion which he cannot defend. You have no argument to back up your opinions. Why even bother to post if you're going to cry that people aren't allowed to dislike or point out that you're a tasteless drone. Oh and the buzzword flinging doesn't make you seem any less new.
Reddit aka /v/ think it's fashionable to vote down every popular game just cause
>I never thought I would miss a simple feature like rolling this much
I figured as such before the remake had come out. Mobility is some of the best game design potential in all of the industry.
Never trust Metacritic scores, people generally vote 0 or 10. I used to hate how Steam only had "like" or "dislike," then I realized having a 1-10 scale is the same thing in practice.
Also Metabombing, which is probably what happened here. Arguably justified since Battlefront pretty much sums up everything wrong with EA.
>most fun multiplayer experiences I've had in years
is this your first shooter? No, seriously. The combat is extremely shallow, the game is more casual than CoD and Battlefield combined. I don't know how anyone can play this game for more than a few hours, it's simply a poorly designed experience with zero depth.
Game was too simplified in an attempt at uniting underage toddlers with their fathers on the couch as they played the game.
Problem with this is that they got the whole thing backwards: you have to make it engaging for the father the play the game. His son will join him after his father was secured in playing it.
Because the game was turned into suh a kiddie friendly experience, parents don't want to touch the game too much as its a less engaging experience than fishing , baseballing or even fighting games.
TL/DR : the games' lack of competitiveness and gameplay depth makes adults shy away from it, effectively turning the community into toddlers (who you basically tailored the game for).
Kids will always follow trends. Their place in the game was already secured (as you can see in CoD iterations ) . problem was you failed to recognize this and alienated every grow up from this franchise.
I mean. Seriously. Not even a score board? The implications for both not having a scoreboard and deciding for not having it in the first place (such as peole camping hero upgrades to rampage through the map in godmode) are bad and speak ill of the game.
Star Wars is a hell of a money maker.
2015 was the year every kid in America got the star wars fever. They all rewatched the prequels and OT, went to see TFA, and then got Battlefront for Christmas, likely from a bundle with a ps4
>I mean. Seriously. Not even a score board? The implications for both not having a scoreboard
The game has a scoreboard you mouthbreathing retard
>Thread full of people with strong opinions about a game they've never played
Ahh, confusing with overwatch.
Still, everything else in the post is correct.
Heck, even the cards system is grossly broken.
For what it's worth, total biscunt made a video on why the new battlefront is so boring
Which is bullshit because the Squadron mode is still the only mode with any longevity, there's just nothing to fucking do except keep killing eachother.
Also holy fuck somebody must have noticed how hilariously underpowered the imperial fighters are by now. Every round as the rebels is just k/d padding
The gay little cards and tokens are the most baffling additions to the game for me.
Just...why? Why am I running around looking for power ups? That's what classes were for. And what the fuck does poker have to do with Star Wars?
5/10 is avarage
Battlefront was worse than avarage
it deserves a low score
No it's not, you can't camp hero upgrades, they appear randomly on the map. Card system works fine as far as I can tell.
And I actually couldn't care less what the self-appointed leader of the pcmasterrace fedora brigade Total Moron thinks about the game.
It's not that it's not "exactly the same." It's objectively worse. They took out half the content and added what exactly? A few gameplay modes no one plays? Changed classes to a poorly designed character creation and loadout?
Everything asides from the scoreboard is pretty accurate . down to the hero powerful camping bullshit.
There aren't even map objectives anymore. I mean, there are, but they're linear as fuck as opposed to old games like battlefield 1942 where you could do whatever the fuck you pleased on the map. SW:BF is a (exageration) railroad MP experience.
>wait for DLC
In case you are not baiting: fuck you, I wish I could punch you in your face with a sledgehammer
>wait for DLC
Are you fucking serious?
Like when you typed that did you actually think you were accurately refuting the other guy?
>what are you poor?
Okay yes, yes you are that retarded
Don't forget, some cards straight up make you kill other players regardless of skill and class. They just straight up make you better than everyone else without that card. Plus, you can spend money to get them faster as opposed to 1 month grinding and getting BTFO by pay-2-win faggots.
Okay then I will provide my opinion.
>The game has absolutely stunning graphics and sound design and is probably the most authentic game I've ever played.
>The shooting mechanics are very simple and doesn't require much skill but provides a decent visual impact. Wether or not you will enjoy this depends on if you want a game with high skill or a more laid back experience.
>The maps are very well designed and will give a very balanced fight in most situations however spawn camping can be a problem from time to time.
>There are only a limited amount of maps so the game can become very repetitive over time.
>Team work is very shallow and is only allowed in the most rudimentary sense.
>There are many different gamemodes with interesting ideas but fall flat from the lack of teamwork possible, not allowing for much variation, and are eclipsed but the main gamemode.
Overall a very well crafted game, hampered by it's lack of depth and content.
If you're looking for a hardcore shooter then this is not the game for you. If you want a more casual experience then wait until it's less then thirty dollars or more content has been released, otherwise can't recommend.
Play it for more than an hour and you'll find all the inherent flaws in the game. While it looks great and is a decent SW experience, tons of issues with mechanics, lag compensation, and imbalance exist.
Despite the fact that I know I won't submit it, I made a list of shit wrong with the game, with a few saved videos to back it up. The only thing that would take away a very little amount of the crap I feel from this game is if I were allowed to KB+M it. Very floaty, shit wobbling with a controller, like almost any other instance.
>It could be just a simple fucking icon in a menu but no.
that's all they even really are. The cards are just items/abilities that have a cool-down for each time you use them. You have combinations of 3 of them and that makes up your loadout (excepting your blaster). They're just represented as cards in their icons and names so retards understand them easier I guess
>tons of issues with mechanics
>scope enemy with pulse rifle
>sparks and nothing happens
>gun was clipped in to rock
What the fuck is this and why have I only ever experienced it with this game in particular
I think they dont allow regular soldiers to roll because they want to make sure that one soldier who's played by someone really good cant "out-skill" everyone else by rolling around and being impossible to hit. They wanted to make the game arcadelike; the opposite of something like Quake
The naming convention is enough to make me mad.
Just bad programming. Last night, I had a game that ended in our side losing a Walker Assault on Hoth, one almost full health walker, no ships in the air on their side and the word DEFEATED just sprawls across the screen, despite our actual victory. The game's so fucked it can't even tell who actually wins.
Just because the movies were shit doesn't mean they weren't fun as fuck in BF1/2
RODGER BROS REPORT IN
Is really not a bad game, just severely lacking in content, honestly it is very well made
Also it borderline shuns fans of the original Battlefronts and they have every right to be mad
The only thing well-made about the game us the aesthetic. The battle areas are poorly laid out but look great. That's it.
I don't care how impressive you can make a pile of garbage look, it doesn't negate the fact that it's still a pile of garbage.
My brother bought this game for me for Christmas.
I played about 4 games in total. I have no desire to play it again. That's how bad it is. There's nothing wrong with it, it's just a "nothing" game. BF1 and 2 were so much better.
it would have been less of a disappointment, but a disappointment still
2 game modes, 4-5 maps (last i checked) and shallow as fuck pew pew combat
fun for 8 hours and boring afterwards
i feel my eyes glaze over just watching people play it
>Splatoon suffered the same shit and even worse (only two maps, no friend lobby and no mic supported)
>Got better reviews and users reviews
So...It's okay when Nintendo does it right?
>plays pretty smoothly
Not at all. It's clunky, you get stuck on the most random of shit on the terrain/can't climb for shit. If you, however, really think it plays well, I can't fault you for not knowing a bad game when you play it.
>I find it hard to get frustrated as a game as arcadey as this
That's funny because I found nothing but frustration in it. I never felt like I had any influence on the battle, just that I'd kill or get killed based on crappy spawns, infinite grenade spam, and randomly generated power ups. Even fair fights always came down to who pulled the trigger first.
I've played 40+ hours of it.
The things I dislike about it:
>Not many planets/maps
>No mode like in classic BF where each team has tickets and are fighting to control spawn points
>No 64 player mode, 40 is max
>Starfighters and Vehicles are not spawned on the map
>Rebels have no ground vehicles
>Simplified AT-AT and flight controls
>Hero and Killstreaks are spread out across the map to be picked up
>No singleplayer/galactic conquest
I still enjoy it though. Shooting a blaster feels fantastic and the sound/visuals are amazing. I really feels like Star Wars.
sometimes I wish I was a kid so I could just enjoy games because they are something that looks fun and cool, rather than the games being based on my personal experience of what is actually good
I hate being such a cynical jaded faggot when it comes to videogames
the standard E-11 blaster rifle is all you need to do well in this game. A headshot or 3 quick shots to the body and they're dead. Only the DL-44 is more effective, but thats just when up close because the DL-44 is OP as fuck up close
Did you remember to buy the season pass for only $49.99 extra?
>low skill ceiling
>player skill matters less that items or level
This is literally a casual mobile game reskinned to look like a AAA game. The people who play this aren't even the CoD dudebro crowd, but the smartphone "gamer" crowd.
It's because of /v/ and 8/v/ spamming low scores because it's not Battlefront 3. Oddly enough, it never pretended to be Battlefront 3, so I don't see why people are so butthurt.
No, it pretends to be Battlefront. It literally tries to erase all record of the old ones. If it was called BF3 people would search about 1&2.
Being just battlefront, the uneducated public won't try to know.
Dude I love the game. I've had it since day one and still playing daily.
It's cool to hate stuff. It's cool to say negative things than it is to say positive things. It gives you more attention when you say "OMG this sucks ballz! EA steals money blah blah DLC blah blah hate hate."
Game is fucking great. Very well made game. Honestly the most fun I had with a multiplayer game since I first discovered Team Fortress 2.
They're announcing new DLC in the next week/2 weeks. Can't wait.
Users give extreme scores as a method to prove a point. There's many shitty reviewers like Jim Sterling and Anthony Burch who do the same thing. They give a game a 0 out of 10 to try and drive a point home and then you read the reveiw they wrote and it's actually pretty mild leaving commenters saying "why did you give it such a low score and then spend half your review praising it?" and of course at the other end of the spectrum i've seen them give shitty indie games 10 out of 10 just as a means to draw attention to it because they feel it's underrated.
I am kinda bored by original saga films, stormtroopers, rebels , vader all that shit.
I'd love to see prequels more even if the movies weren't that good it gave us an amazing theme.
A strategy game set in the clones era , or 4x game would work really nice.
Maybe even a L4D version of star wars with clones. Just not by EA.
God, that multiplayer mode with the bases was fucking great. If I recall correctly, my friends and I always used to make that mode into a pseudo-survival mode
One of us would capture all of the neutral bases, and just start sending all of the forces to attack the enemy HQ. Then we'd set up a timer and see how long they can defend the HQ. It was pretty alright.
>it never pretended to be Battlefront 3
Instead of using the name Battlefront they shouldve just called it Battlefield: Star Wars then there would be no comparison to the older battlefront games.
Too bad about the gameplay. The graphics are really the only thing that impresses me. And the twi'lek speaking in her native tongue when you emote I guess.
Everything else is a series of shortcomings that amount to one of the biggest cases of videogame blue balls I've ever experienced.
>What gives with that review score? Why does everyone hate battlefront so much?
Retards still think EA Battlefront is Battlefront 3 so they think it should have all the content Battlefront 2 had plus new content.
Instead we have a totally new game built from the scratch with a totally diferent gameplay and new maps.
I feel that's part of what makes it a shallow, uninteresting experience. 'Arcadey' doesn't cut it. Dying to situations out of your control and being spawncamped have always been the hallmarks of poor design. As much as I love the franchise, I'm not excusing this game simply for being Star Wars, especially when it carries the name of a series that actually was extremely engaging.
It deserves the low scores. That's the only thing EA will look at when they try to figure out why nobody wanted this shit at release and it didn't start moving until the holidays.
Honestly, they could have taken bf4 and put a Star Wars skin on it and it would have been better than the new Battlefront. How did they fuck up this hard? Did they not have anyone who played the originals on the design team?
Star Wars has gotten to the point that no matter how bad the games, books, shows, movies, etc are. It will sell because it's Star Wars., especially now with the Mouse holding the domain over people's heads, and that The Force Awakens is on track of becoming the highest grossing fiilm of all time, and it hasn't even opened worldwide yet.
The only thing that can kill Star Wars at this point is if Disney wants to kill it off, it's just too big at this point.
>It's very arcadey and there's a relatively low skill ceiling.
Those are negatives, and even if you like those things it's just all around poorly designed. They half-assed every aspect of the game besides graphics and sound, this is a shameless cash-in to make money off of the Force Awakens hype.
If you have any site with a user rating system its always flooded with:
>I like this game -10/10
>I hate this game - 0/10
Reviews that actually take the time to judge the games on their merits are lost between the 0's and the 10's.
my brother was a dick. he found we found out that the AATs charged cannon could hit the republic base from the other end of the map and he would just spam that if he ever was losing
I got it for Christmas and I only got around to playing it a couple days ago.
I dunno, considering it was free I can't really complain, and the core gameplay is actually really fun. It needs more communication options and MORE THAN FOUR FUCKING MAPS.
What's the betting the first DLC almost doubles the number of maps for an extortionate price?
It has less content the DS ports.
What was DICE thinking?
Five maps now. But don't expect any more TFA/prequel content. EA wants to focus on the OT even though the conveniently neglected including maps for locations like the Death Star interior, Bespin, or Dagobah. It fucking wreaks of cut content
Ignoring TFA content is such a bafflingly stupid move. That movie just came out, made a shitload of cash and people are praising it as the savior of star wars already.
And you DONT want to capitalize on all that hype with some dlc? You sure? Really?
It's not even like putting the clone wars in, you don't have to go through the headache of droid types. It's literally just Rebels + Empire with some new skins on top. No new animations required. Plus you've got more than background characters for heroes and villains. While sticking to OT basically limits you to Chewie, Lando and throwaway bounty hunters.
What the fuck are they thinking.
>No clone wars
Look, we get the whole "prequels are so bad they killed my family" meme, but if you're going to have a fucking game on fullscale war battles then maybe you should use the only fucking time in the movies in which two militaries fought each other.
this game would be great if it wasn't EA, but since EA made it and they're money whores, they held a huge portion of the game for dlc. the only real problem with the game is the lack of content. I'm currently torn on whether or not to buy the season pas because I love this game and want more of it but at the same time I don't want to support these tactics from EA
Nothing in the prequels is worth making canon, that's why EU us garbage and their games are Naruto lightsaber flip around shit. The only things that matter are three original trilogy if you start adding prequels shit you instantly accept anything and everything those movies introduced, if that is you then kill yourself.
you know what the worst part is? Considering I got the game free if those three maps were in one pack for a reasonable price I would probably fucking buy it. Being a star wars fan is suffering.
TFA would be fucking perfect for Battlefront as well. I bet you any money TFA content conveniently features in the sequel.
>Kylo Ren and Captain Phasma as heroes
>Stun Baton star card
it would be at least a little bit cool.
It's because people always flock to one extreme, If they liked a game they give it a ten and if they disliked it they give it a zero.
Youtube realized this system was bad years ago and changed from a five stars system to like/dislike.
You want an explanation? Ok, sit tight, this might be hard to understand, but bear with me. Are you ready? Ok, good: anyone can create an account and post a review even if they have never even touched the game.
Mindblowing, I know.
