Will we ever see another beat 'em up as good as this in the coming years?
It pains me to know that online is basically dead because I get urges to play this all the time.
Naw it was one of the older dungeons and dragons games, pretty sure it was like chronicles of mystara or something. I saw it on sale somewhere just the other day, but I can't remember.
There's a difference between being completely original and being authentic just like there's a difference between inspiration and a ripoff.
The Vagrant is a blatant, low quality ripoff.
No, that's an inspiration.
If you play both of those games, you get a very different experience.
There are plenty of functional and aesthetic differences between the two.
I got it on PSN but I didn't know it was on Steam as well. Full online capability, right?
You realize how silly you sound? Your statement applies to both games well enough but inspiration taken from a more recent game is considered a ripoff instead of an inspiration.
Well Vanillaware is already working on a new game so I'm sure we'll see something sooner or later.
It all depends to what degree you take from the previous game.
Do you honestly think that essentially mimicking the art style of another game and taking character skills from it isn't more a ripoff than taking some core gameplay elements and expanding upon them while also making an incredibly unique and beautiful art style to go with it?
Don't know what to tell you, bud, but those two situations sound fairly different to me.
Not him, but he isn't wrong. They are quite different games overall, but they share that D&D aesthetic. The art styles are nowhere near the same, and the gameplay is very different. Also, Kamitani actually worked on the D&D game.
The narration in this game is charming as fuck. It never gets old to me. I wish more games these days had even a fraction of the amount of love put into them that Dragon's Crown had.
Might as well just hold out for Leifdrasir OP.
that feel when I pre-ordered that months ago, forgot all about it, went to pre-order it again when I remembered it was coming out soon only to find I'd already pre-ordered it.
I know that they're different, I was trying to make that same point with the vagrant game and dragons crown. The art style is influenced but the actual themes are definably not comparable and from what I can tell that vagrant game plays more like muramasa than dragon's crown. So it's hardly fair to call it a ripoff with reasons like that.
>the same shitty levels over and over
>long as fuck
yeah that's not real content anon, you cycle through the stages and their branching paths in what? 3-4 hours? maybe 6 for the first time, and it's just repetition of the same shit.
It looks pretty 1:1 what the Odin Sphere reworking is gonna be like, as far as gameplay goes. Same with the environment and weapon designs. Of course the story content is going to be different, since all the Vanillaware games have a basis in some sort of folklore or mythology (Odin Sphere and Norse mythology, Muramasa and Japanese folklore, Dragon's Crown and D&D and Western high fantasy) that the game sticks to quite closely. The Vagrant, on the other hand, looks like more of a mishmash of ideas from all sorts of sources (which there's no problem with at all).
you should probably know by now vanillaware doesn't do sequels...
Instead please look forward to the 3 Dragon's crown re-releases expected to arrive on your doorsteep in two to three generations!
Cleric, monk, Some sort of eastern class Samurai or ninja or something. Alchemist.
But they totally do re-releases that expand upon the existing games. If any of their games was to get a sequel it would be DC because Kamitani made games to make a game like this.
>tfw unlocking all the art in the gallery
That's Atlus for you. If you don't go begging them for European release they won't give a shit.
Unless you play on Nintendo systems or use Steam :^)
I'm mostly worried about DLC when it comes to buying other region games.
>EU got MGR for "free" as part of PS+ on PS3
>Because of this Konami decided that EU needs to pay for the DLC on PS3 while making it free everywhere else + EU Xbox 360.
I'm still pissed about this.
