Well, not the XBox.
The other three were quality machines...
I'd probably say that the Gamecube had the best selection of games of various different genres, it also got a few classic Dreamcast games, like the Sonic Adventures and Skies of Arcadia. It had Melee and the best version of Resident Evil 4 for that generation.
PS2 though had so many classics too. The MGS games for a start, GTA 3 to San Andreas plus just a huge library in general.
The Dreamcast was ahead of its time and had a lot of classic games, like Shenmue, Crazy Taxi, Jet Set Radio, Power Stone etc etc. It also has a massive influx of obscure Japanese games, although overall I think its quality catalogue is smaller that the PS2 or Gamecube.
So, in conclusion... fuck if I know... Gamecube?
>Well, not the XBox.
>The Dreamcast was ahead of its time and had a lot of classic games, like Shenmue, Crazy Taxi, Jet Set Radio
You literally described the Xbox you dumb cunt.
too hard desu
the ps2 had that library, but it's exclusives were either hit or miss. The gamecube had a limited library, but the best exclusives. The xbox had the definitive version of console exclusives, but a short list of exclusives it could call it's own, although they were some of the best exclusives of the 6th gen.
The dreamcast i barely consider 6th gen. but it still managed to compete with other 6th gen consoles despite it's sales and hardware. also had really great exclusives and homebrew scene that still makes games for it today.
honestly everyone was a winner in the 6th gen.
>Well, not the XBox.
if you seriously think the original xbox was anything less then "really good" then you know shit about the 6th gen
>alot of classic games like Shenmue, Jetset Radio
>a few classic Dreamcast games
>GTA 3 to San Andreas plus just a huge library in general
>obscure Japanese games
>not the Xbox
Will there ever be a better generation of consoles ever?
>that PS2 library
>GameCube being the GOAT fffffffriday night motherfuckers! console to play with friends
Never owned an OG Xbox but I played fable on my neighbor's
The PS2 was fucking garbage. ICO, Colossus and Okami weren't that great. Metal Gear was probably the only reason to own one, but the series had already started to go to shit. Xbox/GC had better exclusives (sme of them poached from the DC) and better graphics.
>Not having both.
Xbox had the best multiplats and some pretty fucking awesome exclusives mixed with some stellar PC titles and carried on some aspects of the Segas legacy
Dreamcast had the most experimental pioneering Japanese library of all with plenty of revered games
PS2 was generally just classics upon classics, its self explanatory
GameCube was amazing, the most refined and best versions of the Nintendo titles that you can think and even had quite a bit of third party support.
Gonna go with Xbox but they're all great
>20 years later
>people still mad at PS1/PS2 for stomping they shit out of Nintendo and making them lose the monopoly of videogames market
mechassault, otogi, JSRF, KOTOR, fusion frenzy, and the obvious halo are probably some of my fond singleplayer and multiplayer moments that gen but I do like all of them, what a great gen
maybe you should go back to school faggot
ps2 had way more exclusives though no matter how hard you look at it, chances are there's at least one game you would consider your favorite 6th gen game that remains a ps2 exclusive
god hand is nowhere near as good as NGB, and sigma is considered inferior even by the creator.
go pick up and softmod a used 20 dollar xbox, and then play NGB.
The holidays are over and most anons are probably starving for good classic shitpost threads after the endless Nuclear Throne/Underfail/eceleb of the week cancer threads shitting up the catalog
>tfw you were able to pick all of the above
>Implying is something near to not great.
The modding scene brought the console up from an 8 to a solid 9.5
Ps2 was better for single player, the cube had better multiplayer
Also posting a underrated masterpiece, my friend and I still do random runs of this game to this day.
>tried out JSRF because /v/ said it was good
Owned all three, all bought with my own money.
Gotta go with the Xbox. It had the best versions of the multiplats, a fair number of great exclusives, including a couple japanese ones that nobody ever seems to remember, but absolutely NOTHING will ever match the early days of Xbox Live. Mechassault. MotoGP. Halo 2. Crimson Skies. Project Gotham Racing 2. Timesplitters: Future Perfect. Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow and Chaos Theory.
One for the rest of my life? I'd probably go with the Gamecube for Melee's insane replayability/friends factor. PS2 was very good too.
This. If only we knew how good we had it back then.
They have a very weird push and pull dynamic
Back in sixth gen it was a given that PS2 had won the race by miles and everyone had one, but Dreamcast was out, so GCN and Xbox fans sometimes fought because they were the "different" ones, because you'd have the Everyman PS2 that appealed to everyone but the bouncy happy funtime console against the manly power console would often sometimes clash over their pure differences
Then Wii60 happened and they just co-exist to this day
>Can softmod it for free gaming
>A bunch of games that have literally nothing else like them such as Phantom Dust, Phantom Crash, Otogi, Breakdown, etc.
>Can mod the shit to run games at 720
>All them weird ass games
>Best character action game of all time in Ninja Gaiden Black
>Best version of multiplats
PS2. Aside from doing LAN Halo stuff with my school pals. I never really used my xbox for anything aside from Fable.
My Gamecube was stolen the day I bought it during a house break in while I was at school (bought REmake and Animal Crossing for it)
PS2 is where i did 90% of my teen gaming.. lots of JRPGs, coop ARPGs with my brother. A lot of Duelists of the Roses! Harvest Moonm playing my PS1 games, mostly Chrono Cross and RE:Nemesis.. Could go on.. It just had games that interested me more than Xbox. Never really cared for the nintendies games either so losing the Gamecube hurt, cos I slaved at a paper route for weeks to buy it. But I never really missed it. Still have not played REmake to this day.
Don't own a modern console, just waiting on the last 300 bucks I need to finish my new build so I can start playing videogames again that werent made when I was a child.
The early years of the 360 was that "dream" coming to life for me
Then it all went hurtling downhill
PS2 for sure, but Xbox had some pretty nice games. Both KOTORs, Halo, usually better running ports if I remember right
GC only really had smash for me
But fuck, PS2 had Jak n Daxter, Sly Cooper, War of the motherfucking Monsters, Dynasty Warriors 4, fuck it had loads of shit
Literally anything but a Sony console past the PS1 that's what I fucking choose. The PS2 started so much fucking cancer in gaming it's not even funny. I haven't enjoyed a Sony library since the PS1.
Thanks for proving my point
>most commercially successful
mountains of shovelware do not make a system great, good games do. It wold like crazy because a) cheap DVD and b) little brand competition.
>Not the "Weird Japanese Games" console
PS2 got alot of well known weird nip games but the Xbox had the absolute weirdest shit to come from Japan in recent years.
>Actually having a console shitpost-war of consoles from 2 fucking generations ago
Never change /v/
6th gen was such a good generation. It was the last time where consoles actually had major differences in their libararies. With 7th and 8th gen, 99% of everything is multiplatform. Consoles have no individuality anymore.
>Sells =/= quality.
Neogaf is the other way friendo
15 FUCKING YEARS FOR YOU TO REALIZE IT WAS MORE THAN JUST HALO
>Was literally the Dreamcast 2 (to the point where it was planned to be able to play Dreamcast discs)
>Literally nobody bought it
>People not complain that Xbox is the shooter console
Fuck you all, you missed your chance for a console brand with a variety of experimental games, instead you went with the moviestation and now gaming as a whole is worse for it.
>Sales dont matter for the PS1/PS2/PS4
>Sales matter for the Wii/NDS/3DS
>Implying theres a nintendo console with better library than the Sony equivalent since gen 5 except the Vita
Except literally any console? The PS2 had a whopping three good games in DMC3, DMC1, and SMTN, and two of those had a better game in the same genre on a competitors console named Ninja Gaiden Black. The PS3 was literally no different, only good game it had was fucking Demon's Souls, and the PS4 looks to be down the exact same path because after the PS1 Sony decided to make movies instead of games.
>Implying theres a nintendo console with better library than the Sony equivalent since gen 5
Yeah, the Wii and the GC. Now go back to watching your movies on your multimedia living room center (TM)
What's it like having pussy hands?
>Have shit taste and only play Halo on a console full of crazy niche games
Kill yourself. You are cancer.
I remember a time when graphics would literally blow my mind
Why do you people push this narrative? It's the one where Sony unanimously blundered and stayed in last place. The only thing that tries to indicate otherwise is that one individual vgchartz page.
the metal gear solid series, black, god of war, final fantasy, persona games, there's a few more exclusives I can't think of rn and of course the multiplats are all better on ps2 than xbox original because of the superior controller.
What happened with all of those mid budget games that filled the consoles' libraries until the 7th gen? Where did all of those developers go?
Everything nowadays is either AAA sequels/reboots or indieshit mostly by the same developers and publishers.
