Nah. That sephiroth was pretty fucking dead. He lost most of his body, I believe. His consciousness stayed alive though and that started reassembling the bits and pieces of him, including those in all his clones (making them babble about "reuinion"). Cloud was among those clones. This is how Sephiroth was fucking with his head through the entire game, feeding him info and so forth.. When the reunion happened, his body still wan't complete and he turned into that half angel thing.

Not exactly. It was consciousness, as it is inside of the lifestream, which contained all the memories of every living thing and pretty much everything that happened to that planet.
