It's because Nintendo DOES NOT KNOW what their consumers want. They want to appeal to children because children will buy anything they recognize because of the brand and will keep buying new games regardless of quality. They are not in touch with their audience, so they have to keep capturing new audience who don't know their schtick and end up with a bunch of manchildren and actual children.

Don't get me wrong, I love Mario, Pokemon, etc, but it feels like they don't care about me, who would buy their games and appreciate them, but they keep churning out shit. Pokemon is a good example, it doesn't grow up with its audience at all, it just keeps rebooting itself ever since 5th generation 6 years ago. The difficulty is a joke and Nintendo only wants to appeal to children who have a 3 second attention span or they'll quit the games. This causes the rest of the audience who has been with Pokemon for years to only look at endgame competitive play, and then Gamefreak wonders why no one cares about the actual story mode?

As much as I hate to say it, that's true. A lot of people are buying game consoles now for it's multimedia, and ever since Microsoft shit the bed, the PS4 looks more and more promising to an audience that wants to stream shitty movies on their shitty bandwidth eating services.

The only argument /v/ really has against the PS4 is "better on PC", which is true but it's pretty clear that a lot of the market does not consider PC as an option. When you remove PC, the PS4 is the most desirable choice out of the three consoles because the popular games people want are multiplats and usually the Xbone versions are worse and Wii U doesn't get them at all. Sony knows this too which is why a lot of PS4 "console exclusives" come to PC anyway, they aren't directly competing.
