I think It's extremely refreshing to have a classifying from the ground up again. The FFIV remake really entertained me.

However I think something like Xenogears should be remade first. I hope all the legal stuff is sorted out - Nintendo/Monolith + Square could have interesting results if they did it as a joint project.

Okay, do you want a remake, or a remaster? There's a clear difference, to which the game has been remastered once or twice. Personally, I'd prefer a full blown remaster that doesn't have SNES graphics, mostly to see what they'd do with it.

A remake would mean a literal gutting.

This game doesn't need a remake at all. I find it surprising how well it holds up to this day. It'x pixel art style is basically ageless because it's well done, unlike the indie trash that comes out nowadays where they just don't bother trying to properly emulate shadows and different tones of the same color. The gameplay is also ageless.

Truly a timeless classic.
