What the fuck is wrong with me? Why do games on PC always bore me much quicker than when I play them on consoles?

For example, I was playing Tomb Raider (reboot) on PC, fully maxed, with those delicious hair effects and everything, then halfway through I dropped it, a few days ago I found it discounted on PSN and bought it and I completed it to 100% and also had fun with it despite the shitty graphics, 720p and 30fps.

The same thing happened a lot last gen, Mirror's Edge, Alice Madness Returns, Bioshock 1&2 (this one mostly because of the awful keyboard controls and poor controller support), Batman Arkham series, Trails in the Sky on the PSP, the list goes on and on.

Exclusive is kind of a shitty term, in fact. It implies that the game was made, then confined to one platform. Everyone searching for that "killer app" that will move units.

This arrangement in the past has lead to some of, if not most of the greatest, most beloved vidya in history being created. Except this gen all the normies bought a PS4 ANYWAY, instead of holding out for a good game. They didn't need a reason, they just jumped on the train and upset the balance of the industry, leading to consoles selling like hotcakes for no goddamned reason, so the players who'd always picked based on which platform had the games they want just get totally fucked.

I wouldn't have cared about the N64 without Mario Kart 64, DK 64, Turok 2, and Super Mario 64.The system alone is meaningless to me. Xbox gave me Halo, Panzer Dragoon Orta, Fable, and JSRF, so I loved it. PS2 had Bounty Hunter and MSG Federation vs Zeon.

Without exclusives, the multiple platforms have no purpose. But normies broke the fucking arrangement.

Honestly I would prefer PC to get exclusives that take advantage of the superior hardware instead of constantly getting shitty PS4 ports.

Bloodborne is good, I don't regret it and I got my PS4 super cheap and have been enjoying it. But when I look back on my Sega Genesis, N64, Xbox HUEG, PS2, and even PS3 and 360, the stacks of "must play" games just aren't there. Games unique to a system that give it its identity. Xbox had Halo and all these neat SEGA titles going for it. PS2 had games falling out its asshole. Gamecube even had plenty, although I didn't care for it and didn't have one.

This gen is boring and sparse when it comes it games on all fronts. I'd welcome a reason to get an XBone but there really isn't one. I'll end up building another PC either way but most of what I play on it is going to be older games, new releases aren't just booming outside of indie shit and I don't care for most multiplats.

All console games will eventually come to PC.

Consoles are limited by generation, hardware and disc-sales. Sure, they might get a few more sales over long-term but it's highly unlikely.

PC, however? Steam? It's not unusual to see 10 year old games be the number 1 best seller on Steam some days because of a 50% off sale on an old classic.

Devs want to put their games on PCs where they will have timeless communities and a repeated flow of income long after the console income dries up.

Console exclusives are just timed exclusives. It's about short-term bragging rights whereas PC is forever.

We have to decide what product is the better one, and "promote" it so that it hopefully succeeds and others fail because that's how technology improves. I don't think we should "get along" because that's treating consoles and other gaming platforms like toys instead of tech products.

Its still recognizable but bloodborne plays pretty differently than the souls games, its more offensive based with rolls being pretty much replaced entirely with dashes that dont interrupt your attacks. I know a couple friends who didnt like souls that liked bloodborne but they stll are the same beats so it depends on what you didnt like about souls. When youre doing well in a boss fight the game becomes kind of magical to watch cause the way you counter the enemy in a constant flury of attacks is something i havent quite seen from a game in a while. Type-0 is truthfully a case of them lying, but i think the only reason it came out so fast was cause it was entirely developed by a different company and even by some of the FF spin off standards the game was pretty damn small. In the case of N64, nintendo was shooting themselves in the foot -in the long run- by desperately hanging on to the cartridges but the console is a product that a company has to sell to BOTH gamers and developers. Sony did exceedingly well in latter with the CD-Rom technology making games cheaper for devs themselves.

Consoles WILL die off, but the brands will live on. Nintendo, Playstation and Xbox will exist as digital brands kind of like Steam.

If you look at their business decisions that's what they're all preparing and moving forward to. Microsoft is turning Xbox into a multiple device brand for mobile/PC/consoles. Sony will probably attempt to use it's large back catalog of games to attract people to it's digital store and services. Meanwhile Nintendo is growing its character recognition through toys and games, probably going for more of a Disney approach.
