>both developed by Platinum Games
>One exclusive for PS4
>One exclusive for Xbone
>both come out this year
Which one will be better and why?
>Both come out this year
To be fair, Nier will most likely be better and possibly not even by a huge margin,
We know it's getting Platinums main attention and the protagonist isn't some DMC by Dre annoying cunt of a thing. Visually I would have to say scalebound looks really, really lush and nice where as Nier is going for that post-apocolyptic wasteland look which is kinda meh. The combat though from what I've seen, Nier is 10/10.
All around I wish I could play both these games.
The only thing Nier did badly was it's combat. With Platinum involved that shit will be fixed, and Taro Yoko is still heading the project. He has yet to disappoint in weird, crazy, yet incredibly amazing stories.
Scalebound got delayed to work on the multiplayer portion
If not for that, it would've been out this year. Look at the progress from their meh GDC showcase to a month later https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n3z2zf5ydtM
I dont doubt nier will be good, but everyone saying it will be better than Scalebound are most likely memers who dont want to admit MS outdoes Sony, much like they didnt want to admit Nintendo outdid Konami if you compare W101 to MGR. Kamiya is working on Scalebound so that already puts it in favor of being better, as he has a flawless track record. I feel bad for poorfags who wont get to play both though
NieR Automata has pic related, who has had an even better track record than Kamiya.
>I'll be fine if there''s less emphasis on the super crazy action in favor of RPG elements or bonding with dragonbro.
Then you might as well go with NieR Automata because Yoko Taro has much more talent when it comes to writing/narrative.
>Has never played viewtiful joe
>Has never played Okami
>Has never played God Hand
>Has never played Mad World
>Has never played Infinite Space
>Has never played Bayonetta
>Has never played Metal Gear Rising
>Has never played Vanquish
>Has never played Wonderful 101
>Has never played Transformers Devastation
What the FUCK is wrong with you?
>better than RE2, DMC, Viewtiful Joe, Okami, Bayonetta, or W101
No seriously guys, both Drakengard and Scalebound have:
>An edgy protag.
>A dragon that you bond with.
>Yoko Taro is working on different game for Platinum.
Why are they so similar?
Nier will have good story and writing, while Scalebound will feature donte from DmC: Devil May Cry series.
But then Scalebound gameplay looks great and I have no idea how different will Automata be compared to previous Nier, hopefully a lot.
>he prefers story over gameplay
well thats like the typical sonyfan
always wanting cinematic experiences with shit gameplay
Scalebound will be GOAT
scalebounds combat concerns me the most. But i have to give kamiya some credit. I think its initial showing was just so weak. Niers combat looks fantastic so far, especially compared to the shit previous
>4 players with dragons
>huntan monsters and evil empire
>levelan and customizan
Gonna be fun in 2017. Not sure why Kamiya delayed it when the year just started.
>singleplayer vs multiplayer co op with friends
Well I can already tell which one will win on /v/
>nier gets delayed
>ITS OK THEY'LL POLISH IT BASED SONY
>WHAT WE NEVER SAID ANYTHING ABOUT SCALEBOUNDS DELAY BEING A BAD THING STOP FALSEFLAGGING
Stranger in a Strange Land is my favorite book. Doesn't mean I can't enjoy other things.
It wasnt really directed at you, just diehard sonyfans in general. I agree though, I think Platinum may have bit off abit more than they can chew. They have Nier, Scalebound, TMNT, Star Fox 0, and possibly something Bayonetta related and most likely something else in planning phase. They arent a big studio either
It isnt Kamiya, Platinum itself is based. Also because people who play their games arent brand loyalist underageb&.
Viewtiful Joe is a god-tier 2D beatemup
Okami has god-tier atmosphere, fun gameplay, is a fun zelda clone, and is the perfect game for those that like vintage weeb shit.
God Hand is one of the best games ever made.
Mad World is okay.
Infinite Space is a god-tier DS RPG
Bayonetta is a god-tier hacknslash with incredibly varied combos that are all fun and stylish to pull off, also waifufaggotry.
Metal Gear Rising is a great hacknslash
Vanquish is a god-tier third person shooter
Wonderful 101 is the DMC x Pikmin
Transformers Devastation is the best transformers game ever made
And they all have god-tier OST's.
Nier because I'm just tired of all these dragons and haven't played many post apocalypse games
The combat also looks good and Nier 1 had a great story so hoping for that again.
the robo is also qt as fuck.
depends on the scope and expectations, MGR sold pretty well, Bayonetta sold pretty well, I think Korra and Transformers sold well for what they were worth, W101 and Bayonetta 2 kind of bombed unfortunately but I think Nintnedo wasnt expecting huge numbers.
It is pretty damn sad their games don't sell that well. Their games are very damn fun and are of good quality. You can tell they actually put care into their games.
One of these days, Platinum will release a game that will hit well with the mainstream and they will become the next big studio.
Only downside is the fear of casualizing their games heavily for the sake of the mainstream.
To be honest they already are a pretty big studio.
Not AAA of course but look at the people who get them to make games for them?
Regardless of sales the company is widely associated with good games (and by associated I mean they get decent to great reviews) so companies like having them around if only to say "This game is made by Platinum, they made all these other great games such as...."
Of course sales plays a big part in it but looking good is always a thing too.
If you thought the Halo games had hard to understand story with that guy, just imagine without him. Games would have Souls level of "figure out what the developers were trying to convey in the game, but failed, and fans will just call it lore".
And maybe they'll get Vanquish, which would be pretty damn great.
How is the multiplayer portion of Scalebound supposed to work? Is it drop in-drop out or you can summon players for bosses and exploring like Dark Souls?
This anon knows what's fucking up. Platinum track record is amazing. And you know even Madworld, with it's less then amazing gameplay, makes up for it with its soundtrack, commentary, bosses, variate in kills, and that black and white comic book style that's only matched by Comic Zone.
Fucking looking forward to all 3 titles they bringing next year and beyond.
"I'm fucking retarded. Please disregard anything I say" would have sufficed.
even if that were even remotely true it still looks leagues better than Dragon Ass staring Simulator 2017
The first Halo is easily understood. The second and beyond you'll barely know what the fuck is going on most of the time. The games really do have an awesome story and lore to them, but they are poorly told in game (which is probably a good thing that they dont bog down the gameplay with long ass cutscenes). 4 and 5 return to form in that they make sense. Same with ODST and Reach, but those are self contained.
>yfw this meme is almost three years old
Where does the time go?
Looking is an entirely different experience than playing though.
Drop in drop out open world. I looked into the videos further and I saw 4 players in the open world section it showed where he fought the empire and that mantis monster. It was a small part of the clip showing them in that area though.
>Scalabound will be a better game because it's a huge RPG.
And what do you think automata is?
>singing a specific song is a meme
Fuck off retard. Posting lyrics (all caps included) has been a staple of 4chan and even the internet since forever and very broard. You might as well say calling someone a faggot or breathing is a meme.
Scalebound is Platinums biggest title they've ever done. MS is fully funding, and publishing it. It's going to be a big exclusive for them, and something they've been pushing hard.
Nier just has Platinum working on the gameplay side of things, which is good. Though it's also just Square, so they might be cheap with what they want to pay them, hopefully they don't just throw new talent at the project for cost reasons.
Star Fox I feel really probably has little involvement with platinum, other then Nintendo probably getting some general guidance or ideas. Because for the most part it looks just like a Star Fox game, and not platinum in the least.
In terms of involvement/cash
I understand people want to hate on Scalebound because it's a Xbone exclusive, but that's retarded. This has the chance of being Platinums biggest and best game yet. Nobody has put this much money into ANY of Ps games yet. Sega paid them by the bulk for 5 games. Konami paid them to rush a game in 1 year. Activision keeps paying them for licensed games. The closest thing way Bayo 2, which is probably their biggest game besides Scalebound.
I'm looking forward to it, in fact all of them. I'll get them all day 1. I love Platinum, and I'm so glad MS is paying to have them make this game. Platinum are amazing devs, but they are always limited by smaller budgets, and times to complete them. Fellow P fans really should be happy too. Also theres always the chance it could come to PC too, Spencer is really pushing to get more games on Windows. Imaging playing that at 60fps+, fuck.
>people are now pitting two completely different type of games against eachother for no good reason
Its a good thing they are going with a more western associated design then
>did I mention dragons?
All it needs is a good marketing push really
>Scalebound is Platinums biggest title they've ever done. MS is fully funding, and publishing it. It's going to be a big exclusive for them, and something they've been pushing hard.

What's sad/funny, unless MS plans to go ALL FUCKING OUT with Scalebound advertising, it will probably sell worse than NIER2, and NIER2 will probably have very little of ANY fucking marketing.
Shit, I wouldn't be surprised if Star Fox outsold Scalebound as well.
W101 was a fully funded game too, and it sold like shit.
We know what to expect from nier and if you're a fan then great
if not because you tried it and didn't like it then scalebound maybe but even scalebound looks like it has similiar traits as nier
and for those that haven't tried nier
>What you think Nier 2 will be some sort of million buster in Japan? It will be lucky to break 200k.
150k more than what Scalebound will sell.
Platinum is at least is smart. Doesn't matter how much their games sales, they have a publisher funding it all, so all they gotta do is just make a good game.
Problem is, 2016 is so packed with big releases that nearly every month has a spotlight-stealing title or two. Nier is also more Western-friendly than most Atlus weebshit, so it's not like XV and Nier are both competing for the same small group of extremely niche players.
>yeha, because bloodborne outsold splatoon right?
As of currently, yes it did.
Bloodborne sold 2 million as of September, Splatoon sold 1.69 as of Aug/July.
And even both those are old numbers.
Also that isn't even the same comparison because they are different games and different companies you fucking retarded queer.
Yeah because we all know that huge budgets and large development teams are great for video games.
I'm sure being tied to microsoft will help a lot too.
Honestly I don't see NIER2 coming out in 2016. They don't have a release date at the end of trailers for a reason.
If it comes out in 2016, it will probably be rushed and have content cut.
I see it being at E3 again with another trailer with more story stuff and it saying "Coming spring 2017"
just like SF0 is different from Scalebound which is still different from Nier Automata, also Splatoon sold 3.6 million to date while BB only sold 1.9 million, but those arent counting digital. Even so thats a huge lead splatoon has
I HOPE it doesn't, they said planning stage on E3, and a year later shipping?
Fuck thats rushed to shit even if they just lifted the combat system out from some other platinum game.
Take their time, make it good.
It has Western appeal. It's basically DMC x Dragons X Monster Hunter. DMC has always done best in the West, Dragons and medieval is always popular, and Monster Hunter style looking games have gained massive popularity here.
I know exactly what you mean, and it's a possibility. However they've been really pushing the game. They've showed it at E3, TGS and Gamescom, along with putting it in various "Coming 2016/2017" style banners they post. They seem to be showing this off, say as much as Quantum Break. Hell they wanted to show it so bad at Gamescom, Kamiya didn't want it shown since it still needed some more polish, but MS really wanted to deliver with gameplay they promised. The game was in a better state at TGS though.
It's possible Nier and Star Fox will sell better. Weebs will buy Nier, and Nintendo will only have Star Fox for the span of many months.
So I just hope it sells good enough, that they consider it a success, and consider doing more stuff like that. While MS does lots of stupid shit, they've also done lots of great partnerships with Japanese developers on games, it's just that they never sell well anywhere and that dissuades them from doing it again.
Don't forget. MS got Sega to make sequels to many DC games on the original Xbox. And then they got Square to make tons of exclusive JRPGs for the 360. I'll say again, I hope SB does great so they consider doing more of these type of partnerships.
Have you not been paying attention to the industry at all for the past decade?
Every single studio gets more and more shitty the larger budgets they have and the larger their teams get.
I can't think of a single exception.
>just like SF0 is different from Scalebound which is still different from Nier Automata
We are currently discussing Platinum games. So no it isn't the same.
>Splatoon sold 3.6 million to date
Got a source on that?
>while BB only sold 1.9 million
Smell a Nintendokiddy talking out his ass.
And this was 5 months ago before the DLC/release even happened.
Scalebound I imagine will be a good game, but damn, was I not let down when we got the first gameplay trailer. It looked okay, but nothing like OH MY GOD. YES. THIS IS WHAT WE HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR.
People in general seemed to kinda have the same feeling.
Maybe they will have some cooler shit to show later.
Platinum are definitely a AAA quality tier developers. Have you seen Scalebound? The scope of that game is phenomenal. It's heavily understated and people are underestimating how big of a title it is for the industry.
Scalebound strikes a good design balance since most japs like western stuff and itsnt too alien to western audiences like the sentai inspired W101, anime mechsuit inspiration for Vanquish, or femme DMC angels are bad guys Bayonetta
It's not like these shitters have even played any dmc title. They were probably just around when the DONTE "meme" started, and now throw it around at every white haired animu protag.
Even fucking Nero used a headset in 4.
>one game from Kamiya, who has never made a bad game
>one game from Taro, who has never made a good game
GEE I WONDER
Haven't kept up with either game but considering its Platinum at the very least they'll both be good.
>dat feel when we'll never get an Anarchy Reigns 2
atleast it looks like something different and unique, and its a Platinum IP
I feel like Platinum hasn't put much effort on gameplay mechanics since MGR, atleast when making game's for someone else
Korra had weak combos, same with Transformers, and Star Fox is looking all over the floor. Nier might end up good but if its just a watered down DMC/Bayonetta with SE storytelling. then im not really intrested
>Has never played viewtiful joe
>Has never played Okami
>Has never played God Hand
Those are Clover Studio games.
P* is basically Clover with less talent and a knack for rehashing bad DMC clones with QTEs and lolrandumb xD humor.
Of the P* roster only Vanquish and Devastation are good... And they're not even done under Kamiya.
Of course, I'm always forgetting that /v/ is one person.
How's it going, myself from two hours ago?
>Korra had weak combos, same with Transformers
>The cheap activision games are cheap activision games
You may be onto something anon
spoiler: the TMNT game is going to be the same
