This is a legitimately great game. Treyarch makes the only good Call of Duty games.
> Treyarch makes the only good Call of Duty games.
I love campaigns that play themselves and the worst AAA netcode next to BF4!
>I just don't give a shit about the FEWCHAIR WORFHAIR setting
The gameplay changes it brings are worthwhile. Wall running and all the booster shit are a pretty big deal
>buying it for the campaign
Zombies is the only thing I've ever enjoyed in a CoD game. It's really surprising that CoD has made one of the better horde modes.
Still not buying it until I can get it for $10-$15 off G2A or some other third party.
That webm just isn't true. One of the shittiest things about that part on harder difficulty is half the time you die from things shooting you from beyond the limited angles you can point your gun.
COD 3 campaign was ok. Gameplay wasn't great but I liked the plot.
I was so hype for the game.
But the MP changed too much.
No custom characters
Gameplay is too twitchy GO FAST bullshit
Adding in the vertical axis makes it too hard for me when it was already difficult enough to aim quickly at people +-1 your level.
Its very fucking hard if you are a traditional COD player
I heard all those spergs who like those shitty Quake/Unreal/Doom whatever games like it.
WaW? okay, fine, i can deal with that
blops? get outta here
No, I could just be incorrect. The airport section sucks ass. I know for a fact you can die before getting on the plane. I'm pretty sure I've died ON the plane but I don't care enough about being correct to redownload it and play the whole mission.
All I want is another COD4.
Fire, Water, Leaf style perks
Tactical gameplay that isn't shit like CS or Insurgency.
>No custom characters
What do you mean? There are tons of cosmetics and paintjobs in BO3.
Anyway, I agree with you OP, it's a fun game and I'm enjoying it on pc. Can't wait for server browser and custom maps.
I would like the next COD to be a World War game. They will probably release Modern Warfare 5 this year.
Actually holy shit no, i ammend that.
I had it confused for the resistance 2 opening mission, where if you didn't get your ass on the vertibird, you get slaughtered
>Wall running and all the booster shit are a pretty big deal
BO3 isn't designed around the advanced movement at all. Jumping and boosting always had purpose in AW because you could juke and get up to higher ground, it was unpredictable and made every firefight a more complex exchange of decisions on both sides. In BO3, jump boosting is more like jetpacking in Tribes, it's parabolic and predictable which just makes you an easy target, and since there's barely any high ground to actually reach with it, the mechanic is functionally worthless.
Wall running doesn't serve a purpose. Wall running towards an enemy is just as stupid as running along the ground towards an enemy, it doesn't make you a harder target and only makes it more difficult for you to aim. If they wanted to bring back and refine the horizontal game, they should have gave more ground-based mobility instead of forcing you into the air for no tactical advantage.
Blops 3 maps are the worse in the franchise as well. They're all the same, and they play awfully in every gamemode.
Its finally decent now with the jump jets and stuff. I wouldn't call it anything more than a casual shooter to pass time still, but its heaps better than the shit before it.
Wish the devs were more unique in the weapon designs but whatever. The movement is very fun.
I agree the maps are disappointing and should have been designed to better utilize boost jumping, sliding and wallrunning but it really is an incredibly fun and surprisingly tight MP shooter overall.
If they can fix this shitty oversight I will probably pick up the new maps.
The specialist abilities bring randomness in to what is supposed to be a competitive game, and gives them freely.
It's clearly the most casual game in the franchise.
It's not this.
There's potentially a map editor like Forge. The problem is that specialist completely fucks up any map flow, there's still hit flinch (randomness) but no counter perk for it now, still silence-enabling perks where there should be consequences for running (especially in small maps), undermining of the boosts by showing them on the minimap without the perk, free minimap tells on opponent proximity and direction, glowing footsteps on the ground, and requiring a perk for doing all of the things that would make the gameplay an advancement over most previous titles (shooting and reloading while running, etc.).
when I played AW at launch on ps4 the combat was so awful you might as well not even bother shooting at all. things might've been patched but i rented so I wouldn't know
Getting shot at? just boost jump into the air and then autoaim sends the other guys aim at their feet and they're screwed. every single firefight ended up with both players looking like retarded birds flinging themselves around midair to screw over autoaim, it was so terrible I beat the campaign and threw that shit in the redbox next day.
Also the vertical maps were so god awful, I remember the prison map all people did was spawncamp from the roof, every AW map was so terrible
In BO3 the movement isn't jerky at all and the firefights actually flow and you can comprehend whats going on. Although I agree wall running could be made more worthwhile
The only issues I have BO3 with maps are the B points being a no mans land, everyone can see you if you try to cap and its just not worth trying
Redwod fucking sucks, but I will say I prefer BLOPS3 maps over BLOPS2.
Wallrunnig is pretty useless except for shortcuts, just cross your fingers no one is watching you wallrun, or you ded.
>purifier and scythe
B points are fucking so bad on some maps. The map with water on the side, I can't remember the name, is complete and utter hell.
Als the map that has B in a tiny ass room made for grenades.
Not sure why people hate the campaign.
Sure, it was silly but what Black Ops campaign wasn't silly and over the top? The little details in the reports beofre each mission was pretty good and answered the question of what the ending was all about.
The zombie campaign was a nice touch, but the real meat is the MP and the Zombies.
The MP was nice. It was a balance between the traditional CoD movement and the AW movement. The specialist abilities is also a very nice touch, but some are obviously better than others.
Zombies... where to start with this one? I enjoy they are making the map itself a story. The gobble-gum machine is an alright idea and so is the beast. But jesus christ, the map is huge. Oh, and the top down shooter was pretty good as well. Treyarch can do cheesy well.
Never touched free run, so I agree with your statement anon.
No clue about console play, but pretty sure you can turn off autoaim; and there are mouse and keyboard attachments for all major consoles.
>can't minimize transversal to increase your accuracy and decrease theirs
The maps are all the same: back and forth, 2 main spawns, nowhere else to spawn ordinarily so free spawn trapping, predictability, etc.
The scythe isnt as good now because of its long recharge time but it does absurd damage, lowest TTK besides sniper rifles, and can fuck up any scorestreak
the purifier has a ridiculous amount of ammo for a specialist weapon, super fast charge time, ridiculous range for a "short range" weapon, the only downside is the TTK isnt THAT quick but its impossible to see shit when you're being flamed so its not like that matters
shit like the annihilator will get you 6 kills at the absolute most if you never miss whereas the purifier can get 10+ regularly with proper use of movement and wallrun spots
Domination is generally focused entirely around B
You spend the entire game spawning right on top of A or C, and B is smack in the middle in a kill-zone, so all that matters is grabbing it quick and holding it easy
>want to play Kill confirmed
>no one plays it on PC
>can only play it on the small shit maps in chaotic playlist
>but most of the time team ends of never getting B and end up getting spawn killed
>story has customization
>keep talking about how your being controlled by someone
ooh boy I can't wait for them to do some meta thing about the person controlling them being you IRL!
>it doesnt happen and the story sucks
I feel like they totally dropped the ball, imagine treyarch pulling an MGS2 esque story with modern day tech, like the console cameras and voice recognition and stuff
What we still got was alright.
After going back and understanding what the reports before very mission was actually saying, it made me feel like I was playing Ghost in the Shell: American Soldier edition, becuase that is what it ended up being anyway.
Also, there was a Mason in game, but he was only mentioned in the terminals.
WAW and it'd dlc maps were great.
MW2 dlc maps were okay.
DLC maps after that fucking sucked. Good starter maps but shit dlc maps.
BLOPS1 Berlin wall was fucking terribleeeeeeee.
BO3 is alright, but I still love BO1 the most. I swear it's the only CoD where Pistols aren't shit tier. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Also, Tomahawks are the best on BO1.
Technically, you were playing Taylor as the player through fucked up memories. They were Taylor's memories but fucked up due to him synching with your DNI. Everything in the campaign, minus some obvious details actually happened to Taylor. I think the last mission was breaking free from the player's DNI. We aren't sure how having someone connected to a DNI while a patient is dying can affect the person connected.
Most of this game's modes are respawn.
Also, even in non-, the matches are going to get predictable; and that's fucking boring and awful. At least in square sorts of maps, there's more than just nading the same spots from limited proximity and placement.
I mean, CoD 4, perhaps the cod with the most open maps, always start off with a grenade kill every round.
Also is SND not the default mode for competitive cod? I haven't played much since CoD 4 Promod.
This game trends more towards triples, and at least for pubs it's completely unnecessary and poor design.
CoD competitions often come with Dom though, and this game is 1/10 for it.
How does the sliding/wallrunning feel?
I don't have any current gen consoles so I can't play bo3 and I'm a huge sucker for this type of stuff.
Knowing there's a perk that lets you shoot while sliding makes me want to buy the game
