Takes no time to grind limits, actually. Matra Magic in the Mithril Cave works nicely for getting characters' kill counts up, and then you can use Manipulate to make enemies with gravity based attacks fill your limits up quickly to use them and learn the second ones for each level.

As for getting Omnislash early, it's actually pretty easy if you steal a bunch of Right Arms from Bombs on that big bridge in the Corel Mountains.
