You're the cause of the cancer anon, if people like you wouldn't just think "meh I'll throw my money at this and hope it's ok, I can't lose either way" You're encouraging this fucking shit and let me remind you that not a single good game has come out of crowdfunding.
I'm surprised it didn't get more money, either way this is his last chance. If he fucks this up too he has no more names to drop to get people to give him lots of money, Psychonauts was the last resort trump card.
>>323048226 >the whole reason Tim couldn't find publishers is because his games are a terrible investment regardless of what you think about them personally >start a new scamstarter where the hook is being able to invest in those games
>>323048689 He probably should've saved Day of the Tentacle for his next trump card, but yeah it'd probably be something like Full Throttle 2. Maybe The Dig remaster, or since they can't get the Indiana Jones license, they'll make an Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis spiritual successor.
>>323046219 You know when see a fight break out between a bunch guys over the dumbest shit. Part of you wants to stop it while another want to get some popcorn and far this shit will go. Just like mighty number 9, I am waiting for show to start.
>>323051564 As much as I want to hold this position too, I kinda already know whats going to happen. He'll release a game with lots of DLC or an underwhelming base game, say he tried his best, and rip off his fanbase some more.
Okay, so I'm going to be totally serious about my position on this "should I trust Tim Schafer?" issue. I know nobody asked for it, but I feel like I kind of have to say it.
I backed Double Fine Adventure and ultimately didn't enjoy it (it's not a bad game exactly, it just didn't fit the remit of a classic adventure game), I didn't back Massive Chalice, and I think the Space Base issues were handled very badly.
I'm still going to give money to Psychonauts 2. I've never played the first one, and I probably never will.
This year I had a beloved series of mine come back on Kickstarter to triple record-breaking success, and I saw a lot of people who had never played the series pledge because they wanted to see the fans of Shenmue get what they want.
That's why I'm throwing in for Psychonauts 2 despite no connection for the series, or much love for Double Fine. I know there are lofty expectations, but in good faith at least based on the desire to do right by fans, I think if the game is funded it will turn out fine. Effectively, I want to thank any Psychonauts fans who helped make Shenmue III happen, by making Psychonauts 2 a thing.
I'm going to pledge not for Tim Schafer, but for the fans. I think they are the ones who will ultimately lose out if this doesn't happen. Tim and Double Fine will move on to another project, and that'll be that. The fans will get left in the dust thinking about what could have been, and that sucks.
>>323051873 I funded Massive Chalice and the game is an uninspired piece of shit. They did the bare minimum needed and pushed it out. Double Fine don't care about professionalism any more, they care about keeping up their San Fran lifestyles and that's it.
>>323051961 He has a fanbase that is big enough, has enough money and enjoys his games enough that they are willing (out of their own free will) to help fund the creation of his next game. Are you saying that people should not be able to spend their own money on what they want?
>>323052839 https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLIhLvue17Sd7F6pU2ByRRb0igiI-WKk3D Ep15 is when the despair starts because its when they're working on finishing act2 but it's fun to watch from the beginning because they start off with so much hope and watching reality come crushing down is just great
>>323053243 Yes that's exactly what Im saying. If I was under pressure for why the game was split into two parts with controversary over why the game isn't what it was suppose to be, I'd pretend I did a horrible job, too, and that the money wasn'y squandered to their pockets.
