>needs a high-end PC that costs at least $2000
>looks like a tumor
>guaranteed pussy repellent
>entire library consists of shitty experimental indie garbage
>confirmed to cause motion sickness
>needs a PS4 which costs $350 at most (can easily get it for less than $300 if you looked for a good deal)
>looks sleek, futuristic, expansive, and like it was actually designed by a professionals
>guaranteed mainstream acceptance due to PS brand so girls won't think that you're a loser for owning it
>library consists of great AAA games like Summer Lesson and RIGS which are made by renowned devs, and has the entire Sony and industry support
>has Sony's patented anti motion sickness tech
How can the PC even compete?
You are actually correct, but people will say this is bait until it outsells them 20:1
Price, accessibility and presentation is absolutely everything in the inception of a new, expensive technology that the vast majority consider to likely be a gimmick, and then the one with the install base will get the software.
Shit's going to be the betamax, HD-DVD situation
I'm PC Master Race and this is true.
Just to be able to play Minecraft or some Steam Early Access beta indie shit in VR at stable 60fps I would need a new
+$599+1 Oculus R.I.P.
+$300 shipping fees, tax, customs fees
That's a lot of money just for some shitty gimmick. Especially since it is still in its infant stadium, hasn't even learned to crawl properly - I'm not even talking about walking here but baby crawling and there is FUCKALL software for it that are not just some half assed tech demos.
At this point even a Wii U is a better way to throw away your money.
I meet the specs and was prepared to buy a rift, but $600 is to much for me to buy in an unproven market
Psvr looks like garbage and all on rails shit, vibe is looking to be even more than $600
Rather just invest in a great IPS monitor at this point
PSVR needs (includes) an external processing unit. The price, more knowing Sony's history, will be equal or higher than Oculus.
Underage sonnygers tears will be delicious.
I will post this for a week and make fun of you and your lardass Steam buddies once Sony announces PSVR's price.
Hey budd I think you got the wrong door, neofag is two links down.
>playstation has head-gear now
WE'RE ALMOST THERE BOYS!!!
>SonyVR costs $300 dollars and everyone celebrates with #SONYWON
>external processing unit is labelled as "recommended for graphics enthusiasts" and has a price tag of 500 dollars
>/v/ and neogaf defend this religiously, saying that single digit fps is just fine for VR
And this is why /v/ needs their vaifus?
HOW COME I MUST KNOW
>tfw I still hear the opening whenever I see a image from .hack// all these years later
it can't. the sony VR is going to initially be significantly more successful. it doesn't matter if the tech isn't as good, what matters is that it's accessible, as it'll still impress the average console owner. people are apprehensive to acknowledge this on /v/, but these are also people who already don't give a shit about playing at 30fps, or lower than 1080 resolutions, etc. also, the second hand market will be much greater, getting it into even more hands, and every electronic store is going to have a sony rep in the game section selling this thing personally.
if anything, HTC+Facebook are quite lucky sony got into the game, as it's their VR set that will keep any interest alive in the tech in the market, so long as they're selling their VR at 6 bajillion.
>mfw I tried looking up the Sign intro on youtube and they're all blocked.
Good thing I have all of Sign on my PC, I'll just listen to it here.
BUT THAT MEANS THERE PAYING CLOSE ATTENTION
shit anon, this one works for me in Canada, Hopefully it works for you.
Holy shit this bait is unbelievable.
Sony drones cannot get enough of this VR news. It's almost as if the Rift didn't sell out immediately and shipping dates were pushed back 3 months by high demand.
Classic Sony lurking in the shadows to rip off a new technology, do a shit job and smear the concept into obscurity
>people will be surprised that sony - a large company with many ties to the industrial computer component sector - might have a lower price point (at the cost of being an inferior low quality clone of the rift as is standard of sony)
>there will be a million of these threads in the coming months
It's like if microsoft stepped into the ring with their own headset and people are somehow surprised they can afford a lower profit margin. But we all know it's just shitposters pretending to be sonyponies.
Only PC Master Fats would call this bait because nothing baits angry buttblasted platform boys better than the truth.
Oculus costs $599 because that's what they calculated the "enthusiast" crowd will be willing to pay, watch as they lower the price in a few months to capture the casual crowd later.
It's a win-win for Oculus, they get full price from the hasty people and the casual normies get the PR exposure from the early adopters later on.
No, it won't. Like seriously, you're better off not even joking about this because someone, potentially yourself if you're actually serious, might eat this shit up and then be surprised when, no, a VR headset does not just cost three hundo.
Eh, you still have to pay for ps+. They sell the ps4 at a loss the same way cell phone providers give you "free upgrades". Unless you want your device to be useless then you will eventually pay in full.
Unless the sony vr is going to have a subscription I don't expect them to sell at a loss.
Based on literally what?
I mean shit, don't get me wrong here, I'm interested in VR but I don't have the dosh to be throwing around. I have a gaming PC but its well below what'll be needed for Oculus so I'm already leaning slightly more towards PSVR since I already own a PS4. As far as I'm concerned PSVR is the more realistic VR option for me.
If PSVR is legitimately $300 then that'd be fantastic, but considering Oculus is $600 and they're not making any money on it at that price, I don't see it happening.
Sure you could argue that they might have better access to cheaper production but that sure as shit ain't gonna cut production costs in half entirely.
You realise that while consoles are intended to be cheaper mass consumer items, that doesn't necessarily mean that they can't have features or peripherals for enthusiasts, right?
Stop oversimplifying every single fucking thing. The console itself exists to be a mass consumer gaming device, so a low price point is important. VR, on release, is much more of an enthusiast product be it PSVR or OR.
>PS4 is cheaper but shitty
>PC gaming is more expensive but better
>PS4 VR is cheaper but shitty
>PC VR is more expensive but better
Woah... who could have seen this coming?
Implying all you faggots won't buy one when someone releases a "rape the 12 year old game with electrodes hooked to your balls"
I have the dosh. I have two GTX 980s. I still think PSVR is a better buy and heres why.
Sony has talked majorly about how we'll interface with our games in VR. This is a major fucking issue right now, if you've already used a HMD you've experienced it. Only the most simplistic of games actually feel good to play with VR right now. You do NOT want to be reading menus and text in VR.
Oculus? They've said nothing on the topic and more or less dodge the question as they don't care about software advances, just pushing their product. They're not targeting gamers - They want big business. Oculus is not a gaming platform.
Aside from that - Honestly the tech just isn't there yet. 1080p is still screen door fuzzfest. The headsets are bulky, hot, in general uncomfortable. The media availability is more or less non-existent outside of demos. This isn't changing in 2016, probably not even 2017.
The buy in cost for a peripheral that isn't likely to really get used on the daily basis being $350~600 is pretty obscene. If I spend that much money on something for my computer it's going to be something I use -a LOT-.
I dropped $1100 on my headphones / DAC / Amp. I'm going to be getting the new Asus 1440p 100hz ultra wide for $1400. I'll probably get the GTX1080s or whatever on their launch week. I don't mind spending the money if I'm going to use the shit.
My DK2? Yeah, it's cool when people are over and I show them some nifty shit on it. Other than that I never use the thing since a few months after I got it. Did some meh unity projects, realized how limited it is, lost interest.
>guaranteed pussy repelant
>girls won't think that you're a loser for owning it
Like they would know the difference. You're still a loser, no matter which one you get
Implying I care about what normalfags think
