Why can't Project Cars or Just Cause 3 or Volume or Super Stardust Ultra or Super Fast Racing Neo be games of the year? Instead you people wack it to
why do all of you have such shit taste? all these MOVIES but no GAMES. What in the world makes Undertale less of a movie than Uncharted or Halo or Metal Gear?
Racing games are literally more of a movie than anything you listed, though. They're 100% linear, you can't make any decisions about where to go and are railroaded along a set path that you can never deviate from, even the slightest. Everyone gets the exact same experience, no matter their skill level, whereas in a game like Undertale or TW3 your experience is going to be different if you fuck up certain quests etc.
WHAT IS YOUR MOTIVATION IN RACING GAME??
TO GO FAST ALONG A SET PATH
NOT A GAME, YOU MIGHT AS WELL JUST WATCH A MOVIE WHILE FIDDLING WITH A CONTROLLER. YOU HAVE NO AGENCY AS A PLAYER TO DECIDE THINGS OR TAKE ACTION, THERE IS ONLY ONE ACTION - DRIVE ALONG PATH.
THEN TELL ME RIGHT NOW WHY THE FUCK VOLUME, JUST CAUSE 3, OR PROJECT CARS CAN'T BE GOTY BUT CASUAL GARBAGE LIKE BLOODBORNE AND SPLATOON CAN BE??
it's a fucking GAME. you may be op, but it's a GAME. It's a fun GAME.
What do you do in
slash shit with a sword and look at architecture
click through menus and text to get to the next walls of text and STORY
paintball as squid kids
slash things with a sword, hold trigger to scan red parts of environment then get more dialogue and walls of text for STORY
navigate 2 bland forgettable hub worlds shooting or avoiding braindead a.i. to extract things or blow them up to get more walls of text and STORY
you see a trend?
all the motivation in those "games" is story with shallow gameplay and no nuance or fun. project cars has INFINITE more customization than bloodborne, and you know what the motivation is? to PLAY the game. increase your times.
>self-aware earthbound ripoff
>open-world with no world
>dark souls reskin without shield and faster movement speed
>repetitive hack and slash
>slash and dodge: the game
>open world with no world (no interactive npc's)
>walk, talk, slash, open door/chest, and hold left trigger to follow red highlights: the game
>only game partof it is a minigame which is gwent
>gwent is easily exploitable with no balance
how does bloodborne take any skill when the combat is uncharted-level simple. there's NO fucking nuance and it's just hack, dodge, hack, dodge. TRUST ME. I've platinumed it.
You wanna know what are fucking games? Project Cars and Super Stardust Ultra. THOSE are games. NO CUTSCENES.
Unless you're a real racer or autistic it's unplayable.
>Just Cause 3
Come on. Shooting things with no reason is really old.
Nothing new. It's to Earthbound what Darksiders is to God of War.
What's wrong with it? If I want a mindless deathfest I go play Doom.
Didn't like it either. The combat is pretty sweet though.
AI is dumber than a box of rocks.
What do you have against story?
Just Cause is just shooting at stuff. Project Cars is about pimping out your car and going along the road. I can get either of these from a fucking flash game.
You okay man? You seem upset.
Also project cars is probably a good game, maybe an excellent game, but you're fooling yourself if you thing its gameplay is less shallow than any other game.
I FUCKING PLATINUMED IT! YOU HACK AND SLASH, THEN YOU DODGE. AND YOU WANNA KNOW THE MOST CASUAL PART OF IT TOO THAT SEPARATES IT FROM A NES GAME?? YOU CAN USE BLOOD ECHOES TO RESTORE HEALTH. IT'S CASUAL. THERE'S NO OTHER WAY AROUND IT.
ITT: people that don't play games and are offended for being called out on it
This is a video game forum. If you're going to discuss something, discuss GAMES not movies. Metal Gear is NOT a game, Undertale is NOT a game, Souls games are NOT games, Witcher 3 is NOT a game
you know why? because the motivation is to progress the STORY not the GAME or to improve yourself competitively
This is the only guy that gets it. No wonder /v/ is shit. Comlaining about Uncharted for being a movie but most people here play interactive movies anyway.
>plays interactive movies
>posts on a videogame forum
a-a-are you ok, anon? 'cause you just might be retarded.
Not disagreeing with you but Project Cars was pretty shitty. If anything, Dirt Rally was an absolutely amazing for a game that came out of nowhere and delivered a soild experience (albeit a bit lacking on content). Also:
This seems to go against your point. Which Nintendo games are "movies"?
Are you talking about skill as a metric for worth? Because if so videogames aren't worth a single fuck. I've platted lots of so-called hard games in weeks, but I'm still unable to play some of the tandem parts in 21st Century Schizoid Man after several months of practice and over a decade of playing.
