>tfw you played fire emblem before it turned into weeb bait
i bet you faggot don't even know who is this
Laura. You do realize that people can google the images right?
There are pros and cons to each one but to some people yes they are. I'm trying to be as neutral as possible here.
Depends on what you want. Most do not have Awakening's style of a world map with random skirmishes outside of chapters. You'll only really see that with 8. They also don't have some of the nicer streamlined features, like being able to see the effective range of all enemy units with a single button press.
Marriage and children are only seen in 4, and they're handled much differently.
If you want more interesting map design, higher difficulty, and strategies that don't revolve around bunching everyone up into a block and pushing forward with overpowered support bonuses, you'll likely get a lot of enjoyment out of some of the older games.
I suggest trying out either 7, 8, or 9 first and seeing if you like any of those. 9 has a direct sequel in 10, 7 was the first brought to the west, 8 is the last GBA title and has the world map.
Fire Emblem has always been weeb bait you baby.
Generally speaking yes. Awakening's map design is lame as shit. Play 7, Path of Radiance/Radiant Dawn, or Geneaology of the Holy War for a reelFE experience. Or Sacred Stones for something more Awakeningier.
The point of these is to try to remember their names without resorting to Google. Otherwise, you'd just be sucking the fun out of it for yourself.
Here, try again with something easier. I'll keep going until I get bored.
The GBA ones are good starting points and Blazing Sword has many tutorials but I find it pretty generic plus it has a sequel if you end up keen on playing that. My favorites were the Radiant games on GC and Wii, Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn though I wouldn't recommend starting with those ones as they do pose some challenge, considerably more than Awakening.
I'd recommend playing in this order but this is just my opinion:
Blazing Sword > Sacred Stones > Binding Blade (Playing this after BS can be draining) > Path of Radiance > Radiant Dawn > Any of the NES ones > Shadow Dragon (but this is a remake of the first FE so play either the NES or this one)
Every time I play FE I feel to urge to play a fantasy strategy game.
Blazing Sword is a good starting point, but PoR isn't all that difficult and is also a fine starting point. After going through the 7-10 I'd really recommend 4 if you're still hungry for more.
>hate Ike's games
Awakening characters were extremely boring. Fates had plenty of forgettable designs but at least some of the characters were a bit better.
I hate the Awakening and Fates designs in general, though. Want my old FE back.
I want one that lets you create customized personal soldiers, like making a dungeon crawler party but on a wider scale.
Closest game I can think of in a similar setting is Awakening funny enough, just make a ton of MUs and add them into one big army.
You guys keep saying Fates characterS like there's more than one
>Fates had plenty of forgettable designs but at least some of the characters were a bit better.
1 is old
2 is old
3 is old but good (12 is a good remake though)
4 is amazing but dated
5 will break your balls
6 is meh. If you like a challenge, it's great. Otherwise, it's an entire game of an escort mission featuring the weakest VIP ever.
7 is amazing
8 is great
9 is amazing, easily one of the best entries in the series objectively.
10 is amazing. My favorite despite the strange plot twist and shit-tastic availability.
11 is awful
12 is fun
13 is bad
14 is decent
>Karel killed Guy and Lyn
This... is a lie isn it?
There are a lot of quality of life features that are not present in some of the older titles like marking enemies in the map to see their combined attack range.
Other than that, the animations in battle are more fun to watch, theres no broken mechanics like pair up, supports are better written, waifushit is there but it doesn't completely take over, characters have more interesting personalities, better art.
Karel almost certainly killed Guy, and Lyn either died by his hand or was raped to death by Wyverns.
Since Bern invaded Sacae and pretty much salted the fields, there's not much hope for Lyn surviving.
I imagine Lyn still waiting to meet up again with Mark and died without seeing her husbando one last time.
The game points more to them in Hector Mode but it's kinda hard to miss but I agree due to all the shit they unlock when they have a full support
The Lyn x Hector shit is actual in the game
I think people think that Lyn didn't marry Hector because of that one nomad character who is raths children.
That and Lilina being ambigous as fuck for his kid and not taking after any of the possible mothers.
>Karel: Leave. Never speak to me. Forget your offer to seek me out in a year’s time.
>Guy: M-Master! Thank you! I owe you so much. But when I said I would challenge you, that was no lie. I will grow stronger. I will beat you.
>Karel: ...So be it. When next our swords cross, we will see. Let us meet one year from now. Then I will know your skill. Until then.
>Guy: ...... Yes...Master.
Now Karel ends up in some village, tired of the way of the sword and Guy is nowhere to be found.
In one of his FE7 endings
Why was Ike so ballsy?
He kills the third strongest fighter Tellius has ever known (Behind Altina and Haar),tells the creator goddess to pray to a higher power before killing her, gathers the respect of the oldest living being and beats the shit out of two separate giant armies with a tiny squad of elites.
>sjw shit was in FE since its US release
Lyn: Hector, got a moment?
Hector: What's up?
Lyn: Something I heard from Eliwood...You spar with him pretty regularly, right?
Hector: Yup. What of it?
Lyn: I was wondering whether you'd spar with me, too?
Hector: You? I recommend against it. I wouldn't want to leave a scar on a little one like you.
Lyn: Hey! Just because I'm a woman doesn't mean I'm weak!
Hector: Nah, this isn't about being a man or a woman. Just...my armor's heavy riding armor, see? A swordsman such as yourself wouldn't stand a chance.
Lyn: My! I see. I get it. So you've judged my strength already, then.
Hector: That's not what I'm saying! Oswin once taught me during training a long time ago: Heavy cavalry and swordsmen are like water and...Hey...what's with the glare?
Lyn: Hector! I challenge you! You'll see...You take back those words!
And that's shit reasoning. I see more evidence for Hector x Lyn than Lyn x Rath I'm the game. Hell Respite in Battle only unlocks at Hector and Lyn's A support and it's a remix of Lovers from Genealogy. The only other couple in game that has a song just for them is Ninian and Elmwood.
What if he just lost the title when he lost the fight?
>Karel: Karla.... Are you ready?
>Karla: Yes. Do as you wish, Brother. When I fall to you, I will leave no regrets.
>Karla: Cut me down, Brother. I simply wanted to hear your voice before I died. Now I have. I am satisfied.
>Karel: Karla... You haven’t changed. But I have. I must have. When I am with you, I remember the past.
>Karel: Go where you will. I will not fight you.
Are you a retard?
Lyn being a proud warrior plains warrior is pretty much her character while Hector being a meat head who see himself as the strongest is his.
They end up as close friends by the end of their support, if not something more.
Doing another run of Radiant Dawn at the moment. God I miss some of the features and maps. So many objectives, all well implemented, pushing, that not completely broken skill system, beautiful setting.
Hope they make a console title after fates and distancing themselves a bit from the 3DS games.
>Mfw Micaiah is at 14 spd after part 1
>Mfw she'll carry me through the game this time
Man, I reread all of Karel's supports on the wiki just now. He's such a small side-character, and yet he has such incredible depth. Replaying the old games always makes me despair when I recall what the characters and writing are like now.
FE ain't getting another console title after #FE bombs.
The way they've handled supports in 13 and 14 are what really put me off. 13 was regarded as the final entry during development, so I can forgive them for trying to cram in so much shit into a single title, but forcing children into 14 and letting you support everyone instead of giving each unit a limited pool of characters to support with just because it's what Awakening did really sucks.
She's surprisingly reliable in a HM run. Decent damage with 100% hitchance isn't even that bad and since Edward is pretty much the only one aside from Sothe who double attacks anyone, she doesn't even stand out negatively.
A shame Leonard sucks ass this run, being the only bow user who can double ashera (or her auras)
>bad sales of Fates
it sold more than Awakening's first week of sales.
Don't know where you're getting the bad sales statistics.
I don't think #FE will really have that big of an effect on anything. I think Nintendo will want to just sweep it under the rug and never let anyone besides Intelligent Systems touch FE again.
Reminder that Marth is a shit person
>Marth go and take over Grust for me
t. Emperor Hardin
>Y-yes sir right away sir
>Now that your good friend from the last war, Lorenz, has died to protect these kids I'm going to kidnap them
Meanwhile Ogma is searching for people to kill, then he storms the palace and rescues the Grust orphans. All before fucking Caeda.
>gets a chance with Marcia
>astrid cucks him with a drunk clown with a sword
>Ilyana only loves him for food
Being Gatrie is suffering
Nah, Elincia gets her womb wrecked by the blue haired guy.
They make them also vulnerable to certain weapons, less movement through any terrain other than plains and as the other anon said, make the animations lame as fuck.
Somehow I also think, they'd have a bit better stats without them.
Daily reminder that her game single-handedly saved the whole fucking series of Fire Emblem
Lucina is mai wai
- nah fuck that I want another FE game featuring Ike
>mfw listening to Eternal Bond in the Concert Dvd
This is the real truth. I remember thinking Fire Emblem was a really underground series when I first started playing because I never knew anyone else that had it. Roy and Marth are pretty much the only reason anyone knew about it, and most people bought Fire Emblem in America because of that or a recommendation from a friend.
Just look at this ad.
not to mention FE7 was considered shit in Japan because they fucking hated how casual it became. Hell people kept blaming America for making FEs too easy now.
>w-we made this difficulty mode to appeal to our older fans!
>lunatic + is 100% random and a complete fucking joke
I almost dropped the series after 11 and 13 but I was told that Nohr was actually much, much better than the last 3 games.
Then I found out I have to buy 2 games and a DLC for the whole story
Intelligent systems are a fucking joke nowadays.
Steam was shit, Wars is dead,fe is casual trash and paper mario is awful
>tons of posts talking about FE6
>completely ignore because no pictures
I really want to know what went wrong. Right around the end of the GBA and Gamecube era their quality started to slip and only got worse. I'd like to blame localization and NOA, but it really was just the games themselves actually getting worse.
I feel it had the best interface options. Fast Forward was a godsend.
FE11 might be hard, but that's because the design is shit. FE11 is how to do a remake the wrong way. Update graphics (while leaving them a blurry mess because >muh 3D) and fixing nothing gameplay-wise that was a problem in the original. Shadow Dragon sucked ass.
Two other games down the line, I fully expect people to hail Awakening as a pretty good entry.
I started with 7 and played from 4, 6, 8 and 9 as well. And let's be honest, they all have their bad points like 13.
4: I sure hope you like 20+ character surprise reinforcements! Enjoy your arena grind to live it off.
6: lol roy. Also, no skills, single promotions, etc.
7: inconsistant promotions, noskill, long-ass tutorial missions, have to play multiple times to get it all
8: grind, still noskills, need a second playthrough to get it all, overall easy.
9: 3D style isn't nearly as nice or punchy as the fine-ass spriteworks. Admittedly one of the best still (even though I paused my playthrough, and had the game vanish after a bit...)
13: Overcosted DLC, endless grindability, uninteresting objectives, waifufaggotry.
No surprise, anyone who beat 7 more than once sucks his dick. It's the only thing hard enough to slap everyones ass.
But don't forget Ike and Haar, they're pretty high too.
Yeah, sorry. It went Shadow Dragon and Awakening, then fates, then Telius then Fates again. Next time it's #FE, Awakening again and MotE and then it's going back to Telius.
I guess there just doing it in a nonsensical order. Phew, I could go through without my Ephraim fix
Stop trying. 13 isn't shit but the map design is poor and the gameplay suffers tremendously because of how overpowered the pair-up and support systems are. Couple that with a wider range of possible supports resulting in lesser quality supports overall and weaker character endings and it's no surprise why people would put other titles over it.
hector is my husbando leave him alone reee go away normie scum lyn can go suck a clit
>There are "people" who don't play Fire Emblem as it's meant to be played, i.e. Classic Ironman with no resets on death
>There are people who would gladly waste turns baiting and killing enemies one by one rather than thinking strategically to clear the map as fast as they can.
>There are even people who will gladly 3HKO an enemy with an Iron lance rather than 2HKO and 1RKO an enemy with a steel one.
I was one of them. Kept everything better than steel til the second to last chapter. Shit was hard sometimes, but I had lots of money. Now I just want to put these coins to use and forge all kinds of awesome weapons.
Anyone else think that the
sound effectsin 9 are shit? At least they were pleasant to listen to in the GBA games and Awakening.
Not to mention, even with the combat animations turned "off," 9 is still slow as shit.
A big cuddly hug will make you feel better.
Speed issues and graphics aside, FE9 is an insanely polished game.
There's like 50 different scene variations for earlygame based on who died. Barely anyone is gonna let someone die earlygame and yet they accounted for the slim chance that Gatrie dies in his join map.
Big meaty pecs will never be as bad as some of the other fetishes around here.
Who is the best unit in the series post-Jugdral but pre-Awakening?
There are a lot of characters that can be argued for it, but there are so many variables.
Seth is the only character who can solo his game with utter ease, and also has perfect availability. Some characters like FE9 Ike can also solo their game, but Seth always does is better and more consistently.
That said, Seth is from a much easier game than, say, Haar, who trivializes any chapter he appears in before Part 4 (which is a complete and utter joke the whole ride through). Taking Haar away from 2-E and most of the 3-2 through 3-E would cause turn losses for the GMs ranging from minor to severe.
One could even argue FE7 Marcus for how incredibly much he contributes to HHM.
What are your thoughts, /v/?
Play path of radiance
>Dump everything into titania, ike, and oscar
>Only use those three
>Beat the game without a hitch
Seth is jesus on wheels but his game isn't all that tough and Franz can do his job too. Marcus is so fucking critical for HHM and is the best unit you have for a long ass time. FE9 is also not too hard except MM, where you could argue Titania is better than Marcus. FE10 has Haar but the part system fucks him over. FE11 has Sedgar, and 12 has Kris. Kris comes close but Marcus is still number 1.
Yeah, because they totally look exactly like breasts and there are no muscles, cocks, or anything else you can see that indicates it's a man. All you see is pecs that arent flat and immediately scream "WOMAN!!".
>Aunt is Japanese
>She had a Super Famicom with Fire Emblem 3
>We would play it together all the time, she translated the menus and names for me
>Also bought the Fire Emblem anime on VHS
>Knew Marth as "Mars"
>Aunt got me Melee in 2001
>Would yell to all my friends that the name was wrong and he's called Mars. Didn't stop until Brawl
>Would play Melee with aunt and we would both be Marth.
>Would always go back to other FE games like Gaiden.
>Aunt just died.
Fire Emblem is truly a nostalgic series for me and it always reminds me of the days I would play with my aunt. Sometimes we played until 11PM, which was a big deal for a 6 year old. She and my uncle were my guardians for sometime. Whenever I think of Fire Emblem, I think of my aunt.
I'm not too keen on the direction the series is going, gameplay and art style. But I just do like the series is going strong. I'm always going to prefer the old games, but I'll still play the new ones.
marisa sucks keep josh
You actually suck. Most units are good and you just can't strategy.
Lobster Lord is the best but Xander is close
But it's okay it's weebshit because we got best
Having played Nohr I'd rank them: Camilla > Xander > Elise > Leo.
Camilla is one of the first prepromotes you get and will likely be your strongest unit until a few chapters later. Very useful during the end of Chapter 10 (a tough Defend chapter) when she comes in and shit starts to hit the fan. Since her starting class is Revenant Knight it's easy to pick up good skills and end the game on a better class without wasting tons of Seals.
Xander's laser sword is straight up broken but he has Speed issues keeping him from beating out Camilla. Whenever I chose to pair him up with someone who gives +Speed he destroyed everything except for Ninjas.
Elise is a Staff user and comes in handy during that hellish Chapter 10 with Freeze, and can cheese several chapters with Draw and that Hoshido Rescue Staff. Later on when she's promoted she hits very hard due to having ridiculous Magic and Speed.
Leo can't take hits as well and often gets doubled so he needs to be babysat by someone who pairs up for +Speed. He also has issues picking up good Skills, his available classes are not the greatest. His saving grace is how hard he hits with his personal tree Tome.
WHY IS AWAKENINGS CHARACTER DESIGN SO SHITTY?
Roy looks stupid in FE13 too. And they fucking destroyed Celice. Like, not only did they give him a stupid name (Seliph) for English speakers but they made him look so fucking stupid.
They had guest artists to the DLC portraits for the older characters, and they had to match how the classes looked in Awakening. Obviously some turned out better than others.
Really? The only thing I dislike about the design are the thigh belts.
He just looks awkward to me. I don't think the armour itself is bad, except as you say the goofy belts and those fucking shoe-guards. Plus finger-less gloves, but he had those anyway. He just looks weird, like Seliph. I think the Roy from Sm4sh looks more like Roy than that Roy.
This. I can understand in game models, but I wish the actual art put the characters in their regular attire. Marth is the only one that looks normal. Probably because he's basically wearing his clothes. Alm also looks great in his art. Very close to his original illustrations. Plus the green hair with green highlights is a nice touch.
I do like the Sm4sh design a lot as well, although those weird bellbottom pant things always draw my eye. And yeah, Seliph was one of the bad ones for sure. It wouldn't look quite so horrible if you just got rid of that overcoat in its entirety. Oddly enough, I like the Fates generic units designs maybe the most out of the series, despite really disliking a lot of the named character designs.
>Just modded my 3ds
>Already petting my waifus in fates
I feel so dirty
THIS IS ROY OUR BOY
Luis get the fuck out puta
Ask them which is better, mamui is femui
If they answer femui, never speak to them again
Mamui is superior
Femui is good, but not as good as Mamui.
those thigh windows though
arthur is the best thing about nohr
shame his son is shit though
Killing him with best paladin was so satisfying
people who think awakening is bad because of waifus are retards
It's bad because of shit map design and boring objectives like kill the boss or kill everything
Pair up is also broken as fuck
need the better artists for waifus
I'm kinda one of them, I guess. Only played Awakening, though I don't call myself a proper fan yet. I'd like to be, though. What older games in the series would you guys recommend?
>before it turned into weeb bait
>"B-b-but you don't get it, my tsundere healer > your tsundere healer!"
Who gives a fuck what nips think? They're the ones who threw the series into the tracks of the waifu train. DEVS NEED MONEY. If pandering to the sector that obsessively buy things with the image of their glorious 2D mistress gets them that sale, guess fucking what.
Maybe you'll buy multiple copies of the game of the next series you like. And the soundtrack. And spin offs. and whatever's else comes out. Fucking poorfags have no one to blame but themselves when their shit series gets wiafu'd.
> I think the Roy from Sm4sh looks more like Roy than that Roy.
That's because Sm4sh Roy is a cross between the DLC art and his actual design. The FE13 DLC art is Roy as an Awakening style-Mercenary.
The map design isn't shit, the only problem Awakening had is some pair up combinations are broken.
If they had patched the game, halving the pair up boosts from support ranks, removed the ones for 10/20/30 in a stat and nerfed Nosferatu. I think people would see how good the map designs actually were if they weren't throwing a pair of OP characters into the middle of enemies if they are atleast good enough at the game to win without resorting to that;
>They're the ones who threw the series into the tracks of the waifu train.
why does everyone pretend that Awakening started this "FE has waifu shit now!" thing and that it hasn't been part of the series for years now?
> and that it hasn't been part of the series for years now?
Also It wouldn't even make any sense even if it did, Waifu games sell like 30k. Whereas Awakening sold 2 million and it wasn't a quick spike of sales from selling to a fleeting audience.
It has the healthiest long term sales the series ever has. It even sold more in 2015 than it did in 2014 which is fantastic for a 3 year old game.
Not really but I get where you are coming from. There are games I prefer on the 3DS that were out before awakening but had more specific audiences. However it came at the time the 3DS was really needing some games.
