This will be the best Final Fantasy game since 7 and quite possibly the best Final Fantasy game ever.
you can't prove me wrong
>This will be the best Final Fantasy game since 7 and quite possibly the best Final Fantasy game ever.
>you can't prove me wrong
Yes it has seamless story and gameplay integration which it has had since it was Versus and which the director then named another recent and well known game that does something similar for story and gameplay integration, he didn't fucking say they are basing it on tlou you illiterate fuck
>Easily the best characters we've had in an FF
what do we even know about these guys as of yet?
There is the prospect of some interesting character interactions and development, but to go as far as to say the best at this point is dumb.
>you can't prove me wrong
I played the demo, and I'm not sure how to feel about it. The FPS wasn't stable, camera is sort of weird, and the combat is kind of slow. Although I did like how realistic it felt compared to Kingdom Hearts. I ended up deleting it because the area got very boring after spending so much time in it.
I really want this game to be good, but I get an odd vibe from it for some reason.
What happened with their designs? All black, fuck,i remember old FF characters, they were colorful and different...now this.
This is being made by the same team that did Crisis Core. So yeah, they know what they're doing.
>"hey we're members of a royal family based on the japanese mafia who come from a kingdom named after the night that worships a death goddess"
I would be surprised if they didnt wear black.
the 1.0 version of the demo ran at a shit framerate, had you hold down one button to attack repeatedly with recovery animations your couldn't cancel out of.
in the 2.0 version, they fixed the framerate a bit, so now it runs at a semi solid 25-30 fps, and they made a dodge animation you can use to cancel out of your attacks (this little thing in itself already improves the fighting a shit ton).
I read recently that the full game has a weapon switching feature instead of just holding down the button, so that you can use the weapons you want at any given situation. You can also tap the attack button to get different attacks than if you hold it down.
So all of this just leaves me baffled as to why the fuck they decided to push out that 1.0 Episode Duscae demo. From reading more articles about this game, it appears that they just change major parts of the game all the time.
The fact that they pushed them in their recent tech-demo showcase makes me mad as fuck.
I just want the game to look and play like it did during the TGS2014 presentation.
If the next ATR won't deliver, then fuck my hype for this game
>lore reason as stated by the development team
Black is the color of the royal family and all of their retainers wear it too.
I'm surprised at the lack of belt and zippers desu
>leaves me baffled as to why the fuck they decided to push out that 1.0 Episode Duscae demo
1.Because they didnt want to keep fans waiting any longer without giving them something.
2. They wanted fan feedback and that was implemented in 2.0
No him, but I'd say the group had better and more nuanced character dynamics in the short, plotless demo than most JRPGs accomplish in their whole games. Every member seems to have layered and unique relationship with every other member, which is fairly rare.
Considering the game had more exploration and more expansive environments than any FF with a wold map, I don't see the problem. If he said FFX or XIII, then you'd have a point.
I hope they fix a ton of smaller things too.
>play the demo
>enemy magitek soldier is doing a kicking combo
>have an idea of how quick my initial attack is with the Avenger sword
>time it so that I will hit him in a safe spot during his combo
>as I press the X button, Noctis takes a step forward to get in better range BEFORE he starts his attack, although I had spaced it properly
>miss the moment due to this and get hit in the face because i tried doing something slightly advanced
This isn't an irredeemable thing for an action game, but when the character has a mind of his own it feels really annoying to try to pull off some cool shit and git gud
It doesn't have to be Devil May Cry, but fuck.
Is this the best battle theme in the series so far?
It's the weapons attack slot for the actual combos - instead of being like it was before - Noctis chaining together crush attacks, now he's doing an awkward, slow and unresponsive shit-tier animation for comboing his attacks
It really just needs a good story and some impressive set pieces. That's it really.
I don't think there's ever been a Final Fantasy battle system other than 5 that is enjoyable and comes with a bit of depth.
Accessible depth, don't fucking bring junctions into this.
It's the only one FF where battle rows were implemented well.
The character/progression system is flawed but gives more interesting options and versatility than(again) any other FF
It's one of the few where the story goes somewhere.
It isn't a tunnel(which is big problem for many FF fans).
special shoutout to FFXIII's battle theme for being the only good thing I took away from that dreadful experience
The only good thing from FF13 was the models and art design. Vanille is made for the penis.
after playing it for over 40 hours, none of the characters had any appeal left. Except for maybe Sazh because he was just a dad that was too old for this shit and didn't want to be there, which i could relate to, because neither did I.
"near the end of januray 2016"
I dont think we have heard anything new since this post
The only reason I started playing this game
I wonder how it will sound in the Remake. Will Nobuo do it right?
This is why Bravely Default exists.
which is surprisingly refreshing from a modern JRPG, dont you think?
Look at the UI. Tabata confirmed manual weapon switching and "faster paced combat".
>People still get excited over Squarepenis games
This is just sad and btw it will be shit.
I think Atlus are marketing P5 much smarter. Any P5 trailer beomes an internet phenomenon while Tabata keeps showing incomplete and rough footage. Just look at how many views P5 trailers have on Youtube.
Had this come out four or five years ago I would have been ready to rob a bank just to be able to play it. Now I couldn't give less of a fuck; I'm much more hyped for KH3, SO5, P5, ToB etc. than I am this game or the FF7 remake.
>I think Atlus are marketing P5 much smarter
They're being way too tight in my opinion.
The reason Tabata keeps showing shit is to keep peoples' interest. Considering how fucking long it's been. The ATRs are a great idea IMO.
It's looking more rushed by the day OP.
They were so desperate for it to be the next big thing that their long winded production efforts back fired on them and they're just throwing it out the door next year.
Every single announcement or drastic change from character playability to roles changing in the story is just another continuous step down in sequence from what was originally intended.
i played FF8 demo and it was boring too..only good thing was killing a ifrit and a t-rex, rest was just dull with sleepy music and squall the autist
turns out it was amazing, i even like it more than 7
>only good thing was killing a ifrit and a t-rex, rest was just dull with sleepy music and squall the autist
But that's true for the full game too, the only difference being you get some annoying hyperactive slut as a love interest, and everybody is trying to force you two together instead of, you know, letting your relationship develop naturally like it did in literally any other FF with romance.
>being hyped for Tales of DLC
Yeah a demo released weeks before a game's release.
Not a demo released for a game with no release date, and where the devs were upfront about how it's just a representation of where they are.
Especially a paid demo.
Be less retarded.
Still doesn't explain the spikes. I know they're just there for the design, but I get so bothered by shitty design where you just make animals over-designed, and "woah fantasy"
>you just reminded me that i actually paid money for that demo
I bought a PS4 for the demo.
No joke. Money ain't a problem, but I still feel a little dirty. Luckily Second Son turned out to be a great game, and Yakuza Ishin and Yakuza Zero in 60 FPS made it worth it.
i dunno man, imagine that thing jogging at a quick pace and ramming into anything with those spikes. It doesn't even need to run all that fast since its weight will crush anything anyway
you did? Well I hope you enjoyed it more than I did. I had hoped that Type-0 HD was good, but that was a janky mess on top of a lot of other small things i really didn't like about it.
music was stellar though
Say what you want about XIV, but I'd say it consistently has the best fucking battle themes in the series
XIV has good fucking music
>Final Fantasy II boss batlle remix plays while you are in a chaotic street fight
The spikes on its back and under its neck are useless, and the spikes on its face are just in the way. Precisely as you say, its weight is sufficient, and the spikes are just extra luggage
>So is that why they're finally remaking 7?
No. They are remaking 7 to destroy it in the minds of nostalgia tards. That's why they went with all the bad choices like making it episodic and changing the combat.
It was so good it took them over a decade to make. You know, like Boyhood.
I'm glad the remake is fucked, I hope all you faggots crying and begging for remakes instead of new games continue to be shat upon by the companies you claim to love.
>This just shows that they have no fucking
>confidence in FF15
If they had no confidence in FF15 they would just release more Kingdom Hearts games. KH fans always buy new games regardless.
Releasing an FF7 remake (and poorly) shows that they want fans to shut the fuck up about an FF7 remake.
Because everyone wants to have children.
Even God. We are His children. He gave us free will so we could be totally happy. We CHOSE to be miserable piles of shit posting on 4chan all day.
Its not His fault.
I can already get the whole experience proper any time I want, and I don't need shiny graphics or shitty voice acting to do so.
It is His fault, he should have made us better.
don't know. He could be.
there are some people in this thread who write posts like him though.
You know, like this. There have also been a couple of name callings etc, but that is normal.
Final Fantasy 7 isn't by any means the best unless we are talking popularity, and IF we are talking popularity then don't delude yourself into thinking this new game will be as popular considering it is vastly different from FF7 and FF as a whole. The character design in this game is also one of the least inspired I ever saw, and I'm not alone in this. The gameplay is alright for what it is, but gameplay alone doesn't carry a FF game. The story looks like it will be garbage: a snowflake prince with his bland boy band going in a journey to save the world in his daddy's expensive car fighting against some obligatory shitty evil empire chasing your party with their army of stupid soldiers and shitty villains who aren't real characters at all and will be there just to be defeated by the party to make them appear good. Even in the trailers it feels like forced drama is going to be the rule, and if interviews are any clue it looks like they are literally desperate to sell this game for the people, always saying things to hype their game while showing little gameplay because they realized the gameplay isn't anything special. This game has been a bag of mixed reactions ever since it was changed from Versus XIII to XV. If you think it will ever manage to be as popular as FF7 even considering it alienates the kind of people FF7 attracted then you are delusional.
Besides, we have the FF7 remake to look forward now, another reason this game will never reach the same popularity.
It's almost as if they were designed purposely to contrast with the rest of the world who are colorful and varied while they are supposed to be from an isolated modern city from an organization that operates like a yakuza business
>Besides, we have the FF7 remake to look forward now, another reason this game will never reach the same popularity.
I'll gladly take FF15 over a remake that's already confirmed to be fucked.
The weapon system in FFXV effective acts as a makeshift job system, you basically shape Noctis however you want based on the weapons you equip him with because they then has a playstyle for that weapon
Only one ATR was shit.
The ones from 2014 were really good because we got a lot of meaningful new stuff from them, in 2015 they were mostly focussing on the demo and just teasing story stuff
This year they will be going all out, showing new combat stuff, major reveals and all that
It just seems like a logical choice for a big ass, big budget game. No fucking way they could make an adequate remake of a game like final fantasy 7 without chopping it up to pieces. Even my little brother understood that, and he isn't even nearly as knowing of the facts of how much making multi-a games costs nowadays.
I can't understand how you guys don't get it, and you seem to have a wider understanding on these things than your average consumer, most of the times.
instead of them going all out with their ATR marketing, I would rather have them release the game some time soon.
One character changed into a slightly differnet character, which only impacted one aspect of the intro, the rest of the story, setting, world and characters are still the same as we knew them, and only some have had minor adjustments to their design like bigger beard or hair.
As for gameplay it still plays as it did in the 2013 trailer, the demo purposely left a fuck ton of features out, but we already got reconfirmation that manual weapon switching, aerial combat and fast combat is still in as well as the things we saw in the 2013 trailer
It's not being "rushed" at all, it's been in full development since 2012 and is coming out in 2016, that date was set back in 2012 and they are on schedule
They have one ATR this month showing off Magic combat and other combat, the latest build of the game and Niflheim stuff
Then nothing until March where they give out the release date, major reveals,
Then we probably won't get anything until E3 with a final trailer, or maybe at Gamescom for the final trailer
That's bullshit. FFXV is already going to be bigger than FFVII was. They already have the script, scenario and story. It's obvious they're just making this as a quick cash grab because making a full-fledged remake would've taken too long for modern businesses.
it is clear as day when he arrives. The entire first part of the thread suddenly gets replies all at once as to why they were wrong about the game, and the rest of the thread is just rampant name calling, unless the thread turns into the echochamber he wants it to be
Yes Tabata specifically stated that aerial combat was left out of the demo on purpose, and that was because he said they were leaving the aerial combat till last because it's the easiest thing to do
He said they tackled the hardest bits first which was Summons and then went on from there
There's already confirmed to be much more wrong with the remake than chopping it up into pieces. What's worse is that shitters who never played the original game will play this "reimagining" first and treat it like the official canon. Square could fuck FF7's shit up six ways to Sunday and newfags will STILL defend it (like they did with the rest of the compilation).
>ffxv runs at a lower framerate than a game that came out 20 years ago
the last one I remember seeing had fishing and that nothing "Dawn 2.0" trailer
The chocobo riding looked cool, but they should have showed off a place where you actually use the dashes and the drifting. Like, a quick little time trial event or something. that should be quick to set up for a live presentation like this.
Yes it does
You can set each weapon to be either a Crush, Ravage or Vanquish type weapon, it doesn't automatically string between a CRV thing in the full game, that was just a demo mockup
How it works is you set up any of the four weapons to be either a Crush, Ravage or Vanquish type, and each of the four weapons have their own Counter and Descend too
So you can set up four weapons to be just Crush weapons, and so everytime you attack with say weapon 1 that you set as Crush, you will always do Crush attacks with weapon 1, repeated Crushes, switch to weapon 2 which you also made Crush and you can do repeated Crushes with that, etc
That is why in the 2014 footage we see multiple Crush hits being done consecutively with multiple differnet weapons by Noctis, because that was the actual combo system
What we got in the demo was not that, it was a mocked up version which automated the Crush to Ravage to Vanquish
The full game system has already been said that the CRV system is actually a sub system
XCX was not only a blunder, but FFXV was revealed before XCX was and was also stated to be an open world game before Xenoblade came out on Wii
XCX did not fucking invent open world RPGs
No he was talking about actual jumping.
He wouldn't have talked about Dragoon Jump because we already saw them using Dragoon Jump when they played it live during the stream.
Aerial combat works like how we see it in the 2013 gameplay trailer and October 2014 gameplay footage, Tabata had already mentioned multiple times that is still in the game, it just wasn't in the demo
I dunno, XV-kun, I find it hard to believe that his normal jump will become that high, unless birds fly pretty low to the ground in this game. And by the "2013 gameplay trailer" do you mean where he warps around on the tower? I hope that wont be clunky.
Why isn't this coming to PC again? Geniunely wondering since the game seems to be pushing consoles to their limit. And also because SE is putting everything on PC these days. Why not their biggest, heaviest game of the decade?
that will happen no matter what you say when you talk about PC and Playstation exclusives.
I hope it comes out for PC some time later down the line, but I really fucking hope it runs at a solid 30fps at least, because if it dips in the fast paced combat it will become almost unplayable.
30fps is already pretty low for an action game where quick reactions are necessary...
How can you "consider" a PC release? Seems like a no-brainer. FFVII sold a million on PC. Yes, that old ass game from '96 that was put on Steam almost two decades after release. That one sold a million.
I hope when Noctis is king that he wears that cloak.
That's all your imagination and prediction, not the actual facts. The only thing that Tabata said is that Crush, Ravange, Counter, etc. will be implemented as a sub-system for each weapon. It could equally mean that all the weapon will have their Crush-Ravage-Vanquish part, like it was in the demo but without switching the weapons automatically. Nothing was ever said about "attack modes"
It's just how it is.
First and foremost their games sell most on consoles so that is where their efforts are mostly put, they only do PC stuff later because some people would want to double dip or maybe some people were waiting to see if they would put it on PC
If you're talking about the FF7 remake it's because we all know it will suck just like the rest of the compilation. If you're talking about FF15, autists hate change and just want the same game over and over again.
I'm hoping other FF games use the engine to their full advantage. I suppose FFVII and KHIII are being built around more enclosed areas so that's why they're using unreal I suppose.
I'd love it if the series took a break from advancing past XV, and remade some of the older games - but with XV's scope. I'd love to see IV, V and VI with huge, living fantasy worlds.
Lots of publishers and devs love Uncharted/Last of Us' presentation - seamless gameplay/cutscene transitions with movie like quality.
I hate LoU/Uncharted for the gameplay, but I can see this working in say - an RPG pretty well.
Personally, I don't think there is a point in the remake. I would rather if SE made a new game instead. I never understood why nostalgiafags wanted a remake so badly when their unreasonable expectations are just going to turn them down.
>I never understood why nostalgiafags wanted a remake so badly when their unreasonable expectations are just going to turn them down.
They don't. The only people who want the remake are those who hated the original game and somehow believe a remake will magically fix everything wrong with the story and characters, and those who never played the original game because "muh graffix". I didn't like FF7 growing up and thus have no nostalgia towards it, but now I think it's a perfectly fine and well-made game that's still enjoyable for any JRPG fan even in this day and age.
But that's not true. Those that screamed for a remake for all these years were the die-hard VII fans. Those that hated it just ignored it. It makes no sense why people who hate a game would beg publishers to remake it.
No. It's a copypaste meant to please nostalgiafags by playing it safe to the point where the movie becomes a hollow shell of its past.
This is the generation of manchildren. Refusing to grow up but instead cling unto childhood as an utopian way of living. People think that by consuming the same products they consumed as kids, they can attain that precious sense of childhood long lost to them. But that's not true since we're not children and we require something more to reach that same sense of fulfillment kids easily reach. People can't let go of the past. You see that in FF threads all the time.
>Gay walking and running simulator
>The best FF to date
Yeah, the "fans" who never actually played the original game and only know of Cloud and co. thanks to Kingdom Hearts and the compilation faggotry.
>Those that hated it just ignored it.
More like they went above and beyond the call of duty to shit on it everywhere and anywhere they could. I've seen people like >>323032929 shit on the original FF7 while saying that the remake will fix everything wrong with FF7 and the original game is no longer worth bothering with.
As a die-hard VII fan I wish this remake never happened, I wish all the so-called "fans" crying non-stop could just fuck off already and take the haters with them.
Well to be fair the greatest appeal of final fantasy since the ps1 era has always been the fact that it had a higher budget (better gfx, orchestrated soundtracks, FMVs etc.) than most other rpgs at the time. It's only natural that its fans would grow up into people that demand a remake because the graphics are not up to par anymore.
Once you take out the high budget presentation all final fantasy games are pretty standard rpgs, not bad but nowhere near the best
I've never seen this image before, and it made me think of an FFXIII-2 where, instead of the crap we got, the group + Serah and Dajh explore Gran Pulse.
Why couldn't we get something like that? Why couldn't they have built on the first game like Uncharted 2 did, rather than scrapping everything that was good, dooming the entire series to mediocrity?
It's a catoblepas, senpai
>(from the Greek expression kαταβλέπω katablépō meaning "to look downwards") is a legendary creature from Ethiopia, described first by Pliny the Elder and later by Claudius Aelianus. It is said to have the body of a buffalo and the head of a wild boar. Its back has scales that protect the beast, and its head is always pointing downwards due to its head being heavy. Its stare or breath could either turn people into stone, or kill them.
graphics suck. camera is awful. locking on to enemies is cumbersome
combat is convoluted. At once being too easy with almost automated attacks and at the same time blocking, dodging, warping and other attacks don't feel natural. What little strategy FF had in its combat before seems gone due to the "hold square and point in direction" approach. Basic combat has no depth
Although the game is open world and you can see your enemies and choose to fight them or not - this simply isn't the case. Almost wherever you are annoying airships will drop robots to fight you. Like real time random battles.
I've played the game only a little but i'm not impressed.
>game coming out right after FF13
>not having a 90% chance of being fucking garbage like 13
I'm hoping for the best too, OP, but let us not be delusional now. Back to school with you.
fanart of FFXV-kun banging Kagari, when while Tabata fapping to them, when?
I highly doubt that, sorry.
XV is already better than anything in FF13, and the entire design philosophy from the beginning was that it is the opposite of FF13.
There is more freedom and better gameplay etc in the FF15 demo than anything in FF13, and everything we know about the story, world, characters, setting, lore etc, only prove it will be good and among the best FFs
FF13 has nothing to do with this game, it's not being made by the FF13 dev team, when will you fucks learn this shit already? Different FFs are made by different dev teams.
Their first MMO is the most profitable Final Fantasy game for SE. Hell, FFXI has been around for 14 years now and is still pretty strong.
XI's stories are way better.
He is not wrong, yet he is not right cause all his "facts" build on PR speak.
"they said" has no power at all, cause PR will say anything to get people to preorder and hype game which they didn't played.
XV-kun keeps stating facts about the game and then says "Tabata said this", and then believes it to be 100% true.
>Tabata mentioned back in February that Noctis can jump higher than bird height
>believes this is actually for the normal jump
If he can achieve that and you can go back to earlier zones, which you will be able to since it is a seamless open world,
because Tabata said so, you would be able to completely break those zones. All the zones that are carefully crafted to have loading blocks between them will have to be designed to take into account that Noctis will be able to jump 10 meters or more directly up into the air.
>seamless open world,
really can't believe this bit after seeing all invisible walls and whole idea that you can ride only on a road with a car as far I'm aware.
Probably just big locations connected to themselves, that's about it.
You can't go further into the lake (in a middle I think? with huge animal in a middle) and to any interesting location in demo, just constrained in small area surrounded by wood.
Sure that is made probably cause it's demo, but I starting to think that they'll limit that "openworld" as much as possible.
Fun Fact: The vast majority of people's favorite Final Fantasy's also happen to be the first one they played.
This is why most of the Internet's favorite FF is either 6 or 7. I don't think we'll see anyone claim 13 is their favorite FF, however. Instead we've gotten to the point where someone lived through their entire lifetime without a FF game releasing that wasn't a complete pile of shit.
There is no "invisible walls" and you can drive off road, we've already seen them driving off road.
Swimming was only locked out of the demo, it's in the full game as already stated
it is a big seamless open world!! It is a lot of huge open zones, all of which are bigger and better than the one in Witcher 3! Tabata said this!
As you drive from one zone to the next, the next zone will be loaded while you are in smaller transitionary zones. A programmer on the team said this but Tabata didn't want to say it!
So yeah! It is a big completely open world made up of a lot of closed zones that you can travel between you fucking retard. When will you guys learn!
FFXV is factually open world you underage fuck.
>Tabata told 4Gamer that the game can be considered an open world RPG since areas are seamlessly connected. This is related to the narrative focus of travelling by car, which is meant to evoke road movies and the appeal of travelling by road.
>The open world aspects will not be at expense of character growth and plot progression, though. While the design documents call it an “open world-style Final Fantasy,” it is not purely such because the point isn’t to just wander off to wherever aimlessly, Tabata said.
>The world is essentially fully explorable, according to Tabata, but there is still a specific path to go down for the narrative to progress. Tabata cites Skyrim as the sort of game Final Fantasy XV isn’t. You don’t just wander into a place, go get a random quest, and away you go into the ether. It’s more like Red Dead Redemption in that there are clear objective markers on the map to help players remain cognizant of how to keep progressing core storyline without getting lost on tangential stuff.
Except jumping high has nothing to do with loads, as Tabata already stated that they could already even do airships at that same height too which is why it got mentioned and he accidentally let slip that Noctis can jump that high which was a spoiler.
Except we've literally seen them driving off road, multiple times.
>swimming in the full game
SOURCE. I NEED IT.
Last I heard Tabata said they couldn't do swimming since it would've been too costly and time consuming to, at this point, retool their combat system to work underwater as all the animations/scripting they would have to build from the ground up would simply set their development schedule back tremendously.
Nigger do you even fucking know what a cutscene is? That is literally them driving the car off road and then getting out of the car right in the same fucking area as the demo grasslands
>symbol to park a car
>special place to park damn car
ok, I was wrong on chocobo part, maybe, but that video only proves that car is basically was travel from point A to point B with no direct control over it.
I remembered reading it as swimming being taken out completely since they couldn't get combat working. I do so hope they allow us the ability to swim since they showed Noctis doing as much during the XV re-reveal when he encountered Leviathan. Swimming is sick shit and creeps me out.
Fuck, really? I haven't been keeping up on the Active Time Reports for awhile, so this honestly warms my heart if it's true.
Yes but Noctis, Ignis, Gladio and Prompto are always in the party, anyone else joining the party is temporary and at different points in the game.
>symbol to park a car
Those symbols are fucking everywhere
It's already confirmed you can manually drive it you dumb fuck, you can even see in that video that they are swerving when going to park
Are you seriously this fucking stupid?
Both manual and auto matic driving is how the car works, you can manually drive off and on road, and if you don't want to do that you set destinations and Ignis drives there
Manual driving is literally 100% confirmed
VIII was great
IX was arguably better than VII
X was linear hallways before it was cool but had one of my favorite battle systems
XI was a treasure
and XII was nearly as Godtier as VII.
So I disagree.
Except you can, you give them commands from a menu
>there is no even equipment
Yes there fucking is, there is equipement, armor gear, weapons and accessories, this has all been confirmed, why the fuck are you lying?
The demo even has the fucking equipment menu in it, just because it was greyed out in the demo does not mean there is no equipment, it means it wasn't in the fucking demo
Jesus fucking christ you people are such cunting retards incapable of any critical thought or common sense
Nigger why the fuck are you in denial? Manual driving was literally confirmed multiple times.
Do some basic fucking research instead of being an ignorant cunt
What's the status on a pilotable airship? Last I heard Tabata said they were trying to get a working module up and running, and that the team was even collaborating with the Just Cause development staff to look further into making such a thing a reality.
Will I finally get my airships back, /v/?
>Swimming was only locked out of the demo, it's in the full game as already stated
That said I think it could be done.
Basically there are a lot of other things competing to be implemented in the game, so we need to set priorities for everything, that is one of the concerns here, and underwater action really is quite labor intensive to get right. Going for that would instantly create an enormous amount of work. For example, if we take just moving around, even just for Noctis on his own, we would need to customize the physics programming to account for water resistance, as well as set up new movement motions and so on. If we needed to him to be able to dive underwater, we would need to add a special control system.
>We've literally seen the HUD options stating manual or auto driving options where the in game text itself says you can take the wheel and manually drive
>HURR THEY ARE LE LYIN!?!?!?!?
I want airships too dude, i really hope
ANd not only airship, maybe planes too, like, we are in a modern era for fuck sake!
FLY ON A BLACK CHOCOBO
HOLY SHIT THE POSIBILITIES ARE ENDLESS
Yes because Cloud, Squall, Xexat, Ffamran "Balthier" mied Bunansa, Basch fon Ronsenburg, Ashelia B'nargin Dalmasca, Vossler York Azelas, Larsa Ferrinas Solidor, Foris "Reddas" Zech are the epitome of good names.
I would -love- to see black chocobos make an appearance, man. I feel like they'd be less of a strain on the engine to boot since you can justify lowering their max altitude and speed.
Yes there is a pilotable airship.
Tabata stated there is a sidequest where you obtain one
Airships are confirmed, whethere they will be done by the time the game is out is another question, that is why Tabata has said if they don't get it done by the time the game is out then they will just be a free download as a patch, otherwise if they do get them done then they will be in the game like normal.
You can already warp into enemy airships by the way
They're all ridicolous, but those four use words pulled straight from a latin dictionary. its the non plus ultra of cheesy, a middle schooler on Deviantart would be embarassed to use them
Black chocobo's are already in the game, they are running around in the demo.
Tabata hinted that there is something special about them compared to normal yellow chocobos you rent
I heard him mentioning airships as possible DLC, but don't remember hearing the word 'free.'
If that were the case that'd be pretty hype. I'm honestly considering going on media blackout with this game at this point and just letting whatever be, be. Airships or not, and swimming or not, just from what I played from Duscae I'm completely sold on the title. I know it's super shill, but having waited a literal decade for this game, it'd have to look absolutely abysmal for me to not buy it day one.
of course it's just a meme
great creators never lie to us!
Nigger all the names of the characters are latin in XV
It's not any fucking different in concept than any other character named with a theme to their name, like Cloud Strife being named that way because his life is full of turmoil like a cloud sky and that was to contrast with Zack Fair who's life is more easy going like clear skies
Noctis's full name basically means the light of the night sky which a reference to Romeo and Juliet, Juliet refers to Romeo as a light which illuminates the night sky, and that is to do with Luna's full name basically means moon shining in the night, which had Romeo refer to Juliet as the jewel which shines in the night
There is a heavy Shakespeare theme in FFXV, taking aspects from Romeo and Juliet and Hamlet for the story elements.
Every Promptos full name bascially means Quick silver which is another name for Mercury, Mercutio is Romeo's playful friend much like Prompto is to Noctis, and Mercutio comes from Mercury, so it's clear where the connections are
Spout "le deviantart" memes all you want, you will still be a fucking retard
I think he did mention he would want it to be free DLC later down the line if they decided on doing it. We'll see if that will be true, or if Square Enix sees a chance to earn some extra money.
I think it was said during TGS 2015 ATR, but I can't remember exactly where in it. I'll link ya to it if you wanna see if you can find it
Y'know, it's wishful thinking, but considering how good Yoshi-P has been about listening to fan feedback for FFXIV, and in extension seeing how well-received that fan-to-dev-discussion has been to SE as a whole, I don't think it's totally unlikely that Tabata would try to take a Witcher 3 approach with adding free content to FFXV through patches. And I don't think it's totally unlikely that SE would be against such a thing.
I feel like SE's big thing over the past year or two has been about regaining consumer trust since the massive failure that was XIV 1.0 and the lukewarm critical reception of the XIII series.
Between ARR, Type-0's localization, and XV's constant attempts to stay transparent with its development, I really feel like SE is trying hard to win us back. So this idea that we might get these features as patch updates isn't the craziest thing. Especially when you think how much consumer trust SE outright NEEDS for us to truly believe they can pull off something so insanely ambitious as a FFVII Multi-Part Remake.
right. Of course he did. And while he said that, he also gestured with his eyebrows which in ancient japanese means that all of the lakes and seas of the game will be divable. Who needs to citate what they state.
Yeah, screw western bullshit. Japanese devs won't let us down!
they fucked up by trying to make it so realistic, those anime outfits only look good when the character is a fucking cartoon. in real life they just look like retarded faggots.
just look at the fucking mc lmao, he is the type of fag i would point and laugh at if i ever saw them in person
> I can't fap to it
Yes you can, more grills are confirmed to be revealed in future showings too.
It's crazy to think 10 years ago when FF12 released, they announced Versus. 10 .... fucking .... years.
I still remember the original trailer and the god tier music, the game looks like it's in a very different setting now or maybe that's because i haven't followed development for so long.
Is a demo still up for this shit?
Nigger you were already BTFO about driving, now you are clinging to him somehow not confirming this despite it being a fact.
He outright stated that there is swimming and that there is a sidequest involving swimming
And we've already fucking seen Noctis swimming in Altissia during the Levithan battle which is still confirmed to be in the game
Same, also made me stop actually believing anything before I see a LOT of gameplay. No matter how well it pitched and how good track record creator has.
so did you invested into Psychonauts 2, anon? Seems like great value proposition!
This was a sequence shown while Nomura was still on board as primary director though. There's a chance it may be altered to some degree. Though I will say a Leviathan fight where you don't once hit the water does sound pretty underwhelming.
I think the only smart thing to do here is temper our expectations and just be very pleasantly surprised if any degree of swimming makes it into the game.
That is pretty nuts, ain't it? Hopefully they aren't shy about shelling out the money to recruit God Tier VAs again.
BELIEVE WITH US
don't confuse me with the other guy. I only talked about swimming.
Post the source to where he says that then. Just post it.
That could easily have been a custom animation in the 2013 trailer. In fact I would rather believe they made that one custom animation for that trailer than they spent the resources and built an entire swimming mechanic AND THEN not include it in the demo later on. Besides, Tabata said in ATR 6.0 (back in May?) all this shit >>323058037
indicating that they weren't anywhere near a usable swimming mechanic, so how the goddamn fuck would they have made one specifically for the 2013 trailere? Don't come here and smack your dicksucking lips at me you lying faggot.
tfw I'm a whore for anything Final Fantasy and I absolutely love it
No. You're a bitch. Fuck off if you don't like it. This is the mighty 4chan-/v/. We're the asshole of the internet and proud of it. We do not forgive. Fuck off if you don't like it
>those anime outfits only look good when the character is a fucking cartoon
Nigger what? Those are real fucking outfits, designed by a real high end expensive clothes designer in Japan.
>just look at the fucking mc lmao
Yes the most normal and grounded looking FF MC to date?
>he is the type of fag i would point and laugh at if i ever saw them in person
You mean he is the type you would look at and then when he see's you looking at him he starts laughing his ass off at how fat and autistic you are carrying your dakimakura in public
>This was a sequence shown while Nomura was still on board as primary director though.
Nothing from 2013s story sequences has changed from what we are seeing now, the entire Altissia and Levithan bit is still in the game.
The story changes from Versus to XV happened in 2012 before we saw the E3 2013 trailer, the Levithan battle in Altissia is confirmed by TABATA just 5 months ago to still be in the game and he literally went on to show concept art of the Leviathan and Altissia and talked about how the Levithan battle is one of the most key parts of the entire game
I'm just saying man, go in with tempered expectations and dial your mind back to a place where you would enjoy the game without swimming, and then, in the event that swimming is actually in there, the game will only be that much better.
I understand. We'll dive in for you and let you know what we find.
Nigger countless fucking things were not in the demo
Swimming, magic, aerial combat, manual weapon switching, the actual summon system, the actual combo system, equipment, growth systems etc,
Not being in the demo means fuck all, we already know that the demo is outdated and was mocked up with shit that isn't how the final game works, they have stated so many fucking times that things would be in the full game, just not in the demo.
And in the ATR 6.0 he is talking about underwater combat, not swimming
Engine swords, there looks to be an "Engine" or "Motor" variety of weapons of each type, Noctis's default weapon itself is a engine Falchion
Speaking of summons.
How hype is this motherfucker going to be?
Why the fuck, EVERY fucking FF XV thread has to become a fucking wankfest between Autist-kun and some people who know nothing about this game?
Hopefully, this won't be like that when the game fucking releases.
here are the boys dropping
Its fine that a lot of things weren't in the demo, but the context of my post was that you used a trailer from 2013 to prove that they had swimming in the game, which I refuted by saying it could have been in the 2014, whereafter I said that Tabata said in an ATR in 2014 that EVEN THINKING about implementing underwater movement would be a pretty huge undertaking, leaving me to believe that what you used to prove your point with was nothing more than an 3D model animation of Noctis swimming up to the surface and looking at Leviathan.
Where did they state that swimming would be in the final game then? Still waiting on that source.
>And in the ATR 6.0 he is talking about underwater combat, not swimming
The first part of the underwater question answering, which was linked to and even transcribed in a later post, was only about underwater movements. Right after all of that is said, he starts talking about combat. I would understand why that was absent from the full game.
all this bitch does it eat
I used to eat hot wings everyday just like her. Ended up with Crohn's Disease. No joke.
She needs a more substantial and varied diet or she's gonna develop some serious intestinal issues.
>I used to eat hot wings everyday
for what purpose
Judging by Ramuh, Titan and Leviathan it will be hype as fuck, but they will probably show Bahamut off last.
Man, it's the same arguments over and over, with FFXV-kun always saying things like "nigger you got BTFO" or "fuck you Kagari" like a paranoid and, even if most things he says are true, he makes up or assumes quite a lot about this game.
Autismo at its finest.
why? they're not even good. someone told me hot wings were really unhealthy. is this even true?
Even the creators of FF7 consider XV to have surpassed 7
please just shut up and watch that clip again. First part is about Noctis general movement in the water, which would need a new system compared to walking around, as the water introduces an extra dimension of movement.
Right after that they start talking about how difficult it would be to do underwater combat for Noctis and his friends.
Right from "Thoughts on moving in the water"
well either he'll see FFXV as best game ever and will shill it for eternity.
or game will become shit so he end himself.
or, realistically, his contract with PR firm will finally end and he'll be hired for Undertale 2
He brought up underwater combat even though no one ever said anything about it before and that was the first time underwater combat was ever mentioned in regards to the game
He started talking about only the implementation of underwater combat would be a massive undertaking, he said nothing about swimming itself
Another game wasted on limited hardware. Whenever I see FFXV gameplay, I just want to enter the settings, insert 4x MSAA and have it run at 60 fps. Instead we get an aliased game that can barely keep 30 fps and the demo not even running 1080p.
Thanks 1,6 Ghz consoles!
All FFXV monsters are using the classic Amano and Nomura designs from FF1-7
>he said nothing about swimming itself
>"If we needed to him to be able to dive underwater, we would need to add a special control system. That said I think it could be done."
He said that there were other components that were competing to be in the game and things should be prioritised accordingly. That he says that it could be done (even on PS1 and PS2) it isn't confirmation that the game will have underwater movement at all, especially if other things are competing for it, and if they don't want to do water combat, why the fuck implement swimming in the first place then.
From what I'm hearing, it sounds like swimming will very likely be in the game, and even diving is probable, but when it comes to underwater combat, we probably shouldn't get our hopes up.
The way he describes having us move throughout the water, he says it's something that's been implemented in every generation of games since the PS1, and didn't seem at all to say we wouldn't be getting it in FFXV. I'm still tempering my expectations, but I'd say it's a more than good chance that we'll get swimming and even diving in XV.
I can only imagine how many details are on Cidney that you can't see on its native res. FF12 was a completely different game in HD. I can already spot some freckles on her nose.
Bro I don't care if it is in the final game or not, I'm just tired of XV-kun stating "facts" all the time without them being able to back them up.
There are a lot of things that I hope are in the game, and I hope it will be a cool game.
all i heard was the airship thing as DLC
I couldn't find anything about that. Most I heard was about the driving.
>group of edgelords jocks going around in a convertible
This game is the fujoshits wet dream made reality. You are right to say it will be the most loved FF in tumblr. It will also have the most fanart of all games.
yeah but where did you hear that? I can confirm the stuff about the airship, which sounds neat.
Yeah, I see what you're saying, Tabata might be hesitant do any water movement whatsoever based on the sheer fact that it might not simply not have a justifiable place in the game. As I believe you(>>323066681) say here, ultimately it isn't the biggest deal if it's in the game or not. I'll just be happy to finally play the game in full after waiting more than ten years to do so. More than that, I'm just amped to be genuinely looking forward to a mainline FF that isn't an MMO.
They mention the possibility of water combat as DLC at about 13:10 in the linked video. But take that as what you will.
yep those are all me you are referring to.
I realize that i have been coming off as a bit antagonistic towards the game while i was out to prove XV-kuns bullshit, and i would like to apologize to you for that - I am really excited for it too.
If they ever implement the swimming thing, I really hope they do it right. If they do it as DLC, it would be cool if it was something like a underwater temple or something. Oh shit, imagine if you had to escape from Leviathan while under water
>That NPC headtracking Noctis and stepping out of his way.
We've all dealt with our fair share of unreasonables, dude, don't sweat it.
But gosh, that'd be sick. I'm hesitant to believe anything Tabata and crew say about DLC at this point, just because Final Fantasy has never really done DLC in a decent or meaningful way, and part of it feels like they might just be saying these things to appease die-hards who want underwater navigation/airships. Things like the article about XV's dev team collaborating with Just Cause's honestly gets me more hyped than anything.
That said, it would make sense for SE to finally get on the train of doing things right when it comes to DLC(and as I stated here:>>323059932, with free patches). Things like full-blown new features and ways to navigate along with completely new areas and dungeons would be absolute insanity.
But it feels like jumping the gun to look that far ahead at this point. I just want my release date, man.
>j-hipster, boy band/Belieber characters
>muh modern fantasy faggotry, instead of based medieval fantasy
>action gameplay faggotry, instead of god-tier ATB turn-based
>muh feels game, brought to you by Life is Strange/Tumblr
I just did. At least they didn't make the ridable/drivable mecha summons of FF13. Whoever thought of that mecha summon bullshit should be exiled to the Middle East to be with shit-tier mudslimes, because that was an act of terror.
I believe it finally was, yeah.
It was something like the random battle scripting was fucked up and it'd be outright impossible to come across certain enemies in the game.
