Post your builds
r8 and h8
Electronics mostly, with a bit of biology for your headband, and some Mechanics and tailoring for your armor.
Yes, basically everything. Mostly electronics and mechanics though.
there's supposedly more than three canisters you can find, i know another anon in an older thread found that out when he had your same problem.
<--- Hex Editing anon here, i wish i knew how to modify item stack sizes for ya. Upload your save at the door and ill take a look?
Acshually... I've never done that bit so don't quote me BUT I remember someone mentioning a bug with what you seem to be describing, where if you don't put all 3 canisters at the same time, you get locked out.
>i wish i knew how to modify item stack sizes for ya
I'm sorry if I'm missing something, but that shit's easy with CE, is it not? Unless you mean modifying the item limit in the stack.
Thanks for the offer, but it`s hopeless. I`ve already found the fourth canister and used cheat engine to change its stack size to 3, but there`s stiĺ only 2 canistwers after I place them all.
Trap door that leads to Buzzer's? It's 2 maps south of Rail Crossing. Stick to the eastern part of the map and you'll come across a sentry or 2. Trap door itself is in a small shack all the way south of the 2nd map.
I think I finally have a good grip on the game mechanics but I'm still debating including perception purely to see secrets
are any of them good or do they just skip a locked door here and there?
I can't say for certain myself, as I haven't gotten too far with higher per builds, but I'm pretty sure it's as you say, with extra loot here and there. Feel free to get some other opinions on that though.
Gonna start new character for second full playthrough.
>>Heavily-armoured, full metal gear + power fists, strength perks
>>Light-as-a-feather, leather gear + probably fucking power fists, speedy perks
... or maybe...
>Sniper + pistol side-arm?
>>Stealth-focus sniper, light riot-gear, traps, speed focus
>>Psionic-soldier sniper, medium riot-gear, little/no stealth, thought-control, grenades
I CAN'T FUCKING DECIDE! Too many options, man. But I love it.
Last run was with a pure thought-control + psychokinesis psyker. Was interesting but dodgy.
that feel when you find the bunker at the foundry, seems like a sweet place to call home
I'm wondering if the previous owner goes to jail and you can see him there or if I should just kill him to take his key?
Look how stylish this overcoat is. Come on, how can you choose tac vests over that, for a sniper?
Try pistols only.
10 DEX at char creation, all pistol feats (especially gunslinger, rapid fire and point shot) and every other point in DEX, rapid reloader mod.
You should be able to hit the 4 AP per shot floor with 7.62, or get 8 shots with 9mm (or 10 with rapid fire and point shot, or even 13 with adrenaline on top of that)
Sprites are expenisve to make, both in money/time, so not soon, if ever.
Not to mention riot gear penalty is a little too high for my liking. Remember, every point less in stealth is less damage from Snipe.
i cant fucking decide on what offensive skill i should go for
help me out here
>30-61 damage for 25 AP
>can't use armor piercing ammo
>incurs 125% mech resistance
Damn, crossbows are suffering.
My spearhead sniper does around 55-120 for 24 AP, abd has 50% more damage on special attacks. Only 150% crit damage but it's enough to one shot everything anyway.
So I just got the ability to clear rubble with TNT, and I decided to go check out the sewers north of SGS. There is a big fuckin lurker base down there, i'm assuming i'm not strong enough to fight these guys off? I keep thinking i'm doing ok against this huge cluster of them, then suddenly I get oneshot by what i'm assuming is a sniper from out of my field of view.
Lv9, pure psi build.
Snipers will be obe shoting you regardless, that's what they are all about, you need to have a good energy shield/anti rifle tac vest/tanky build to survive.
Or kill them first.
>Beds are interact-able items
What is the meaning of this? And how the fuck have I just figured this out after like 80 hours?
Right now i'm slowly killing my way through the base, as long as I avoid the huge cluster of dudes in the middle I think i'll be ok. Just fucked up some butcher guy and got some nice loot for my trouble. I'm not fucking up some quest by doing this am I?
>implying "no prostitutes" isn't the biggest complaint everyone has with the game
And to be fair I find being able to mess with the covers more out there than having text "sex".
>Tfw Psionic Mania only takes 14% of my hp, leaving me just within the threshold to naturally regen
Is it meant to do this or am I just at a perfect amount of hp to not fall to 85% when I cast it?
Its graphics style is charming in its own way.
newest patch, and okay
i don't know what the fuck i'm even doing with all these skill options but i just maxed all psi shit and biology to do psi shit
wish me luck
i hope Snooping and Fast Metabolism aren't awful feats
snooping is ok, fast metabolism is gud for psi builds which you are because dat full psi restore
honestly most of the starting talents are kinda shitty for psi, as soon as you actually get the ability to cast psi spells you unlock a range of good talents you couldn't take at chargen
Good thing I don't have autism. Otherwise, these inefficient choices would kill me.
Just press the sort button
Drop excess shit off at SGS. In games with STR dependent carry weight and related perks, home trips always the best option.
Shouldn't you be using a utility belt or something?
Dude, everything from you last bolt until your first battery needs to be in a locker. As well as those grenades you aren't going to use. Also those grenades on your belt stack up to 10, why on earth did you split the stack?
I've got crap stashed everywhere, I just never know when I'll need x or y. Been meaning to go through my keys at least, but who knows when I'll do that.
As for by belt, I only use grenades once in a blue moon, so I just take the lifting belt for that 10% mech damage reduction.
The bolts could probably do with being in a locker too. As well as all the keys. And basically everything else. It's not because I keep them on me in case a merchant wants them or whatever. As for the gernades, I really have no idea why they're like that. I didn't split them myself, I'll say that much.
And since I'm talking I might as well submit mine for inspection. Why the hell couldn't money stack higher than 999??
how the fuck do I break this down
It's a cone, similar to your own sight, except not 360 degs. It works by tiles. You'll notice this when you go exploring and find out how your view is obscured by random columns and shit.
So what are the builds you can do? It seems like this:
Pure psi (Psychosis)
Pure psi (Tranquility)
I heard sledge and knife falls off HARD after midgame, is that true? What are the other options? How would you rate these builds in terms of performance?
They found out that tanky sledge characters drop like a rock in terms of viability around the end of core city, and that sneaky knife characters are gimped by dodge and evasion having a hard cap of like 66% dodge rate, which also gimps them about the same time as sledge builds.
>I heard sledge and knife falls off HARD after midgame
I can't speak for knife builds, but I have a well built sledge guy who is struggling in the mid game after feeling immortal during the early game.
I'm not getting the feeling that it's just a slight hiccup either, I think it's all downhill for the build from here on out. Enemies just start using too many different damage types other than mechanical, so you can't mitigate it efficiently at all.
Psi users become a very real problem and even with 10 Con, I'm having a hard time reaching them before they shit out damage. I have a high throwing skill too, to compliment my Sledge, but even with MK V grenades, it doesn't help as much as you would think.
If the whole dodge & evasion thing that >>323014905 says is true, then knife builds are probably in the same predicament. Maybe they even have it worse off.
One thing I think is a serious problem that I haven't seen a way to help so far and that you touch on is psi damage. Having it simply tied to resolve (apart from metathermics who can be somewhat mitigated by shields and elemental armor) and giving you no options to improve it other than leveling is... meh? Are psi-enemies even supposed to be that dangerous? I reckon there's something wrong when an advanced bowman/gunner can miss/get tangled up in your shield/not miss and still not do enough damage whereas an advanced psi-user can just combine mental breakdown and overload to 1HKO you and there's fuck all you can do except kill him first.
Nigga, I have like 85 biology.
Actually, I have all of the crafting skills.
I've got my own custom made armor, weapon, grenades and energy shield.
I've got enough drugs on me to open up my own drug store.
I will try a knife build, but I don't understand how a knife build is supposed to not get fucked up in the early game, nevermind the mid game.
How do you deal with a group of enemies as a knife user? I mean sure, you stealth up, kill one, and then...? Deal with the rest how?
Ok so I was here>>323012650 an hour ago
Now i'm out of the tunnels (I didn't finish exploring it so i'll have to go back) and into a giant system of caves after crossing a railroad? Holy shit I don't have a FUCKING clue where I am or where I'm going, there are crawlers falling out of my ass, and i've got no room for new loot. But I don't want to backtrack, this has to have a fucking end somewhere.
Pretty fuckin solid for a serbian to english translation. There is a large amount of descriptive text which I like.
It's no where near popular enough for /v/ to hate on instinct, and it probably never will be.
Psi users tend to resist flashbangs 80% of the time, but of course, I'm utilizing my throwing in every encounter. I didn't make all of these flashbangs, grenades and molotovs for nothing after all.
>As for psi users, shouldn't your energy shield be eating most of that?
Operative word being "should". Besides, it's the Thought Control Psi users (which are the more plentiful in the game too) who are causing the most issues, and Neural Overload bypasses shields and hits like a truck.
that feel when I'm slaughtering ironheads at the warehouses with my crossbow trapper and they don't even know what's happening
1 shotting everyone all day long and then hiding in the shadows, so far only 1 guy in a group of 3 managed to use a hypo, rest were all mine
My sledge is great
>sneak near enemies and pick them off 1 by 1
>smash their heads in easy
>every 3rd attack is some form of a stun
>that special attack that lowers enemy dodge by 100%
>kick them in the balls to stun them if needed
>if enemy a bit tough, charge sledge up and kill most of the shit in 2 hits
I play sneaky sledge build, have 0% armor penalty and use overcoat. Picked that trait that decreases armor penalty by 15% + gives you a bonus to dodge and evasion if it's at 0%.
>Get this game
>First quest with the generators
>Also get a quest to deliver a package
>Need to go through the tunnel
>Immediately killed by the bandits
>"Alright, I'll just go to the other way"
>Immediately killed by 5 rats
What the fuck? What am I supposed to do?
fuck guys i just stealthed through the tchort base and activated the elevator without getting detected, i dont even know what the fuck the elevator is or what it does and im not even supposed to be here
but now the faceless are attacking, and i still haven't been detected at the elevator, and i feel like a boss but i feel like i fucked EVERYTHING UP; there was a vent over in the western wing that was hidden with a perception check that let me get into the investigation wing i guess?
This was, to me, the most fun bits of Underrail, btw. Exploring the tunnels slowly and methodically getting raped by Lurkers and using your utilities smartly to rape them back, finding good loot and interesting shit.
The difficulty is the essential part: you really feel like you're moving forward, even if you're not bombarded with XP and phat lewt for every single fight. Clearing out and mapping the tunnels is fun by itself, not due to some Skinner box shit.
Im doing Foundry quests atm, I have no idea what part of the game that is but the only problem I had so far was with those mutants at Junkyard. I did the quest with killing the Ironhead leader no problem.
Guys, guys seriously, i need some anon who knows what the fuck is going on to hold my hand and tell me this is all going to be ok.
>Join Tchort base because i found the
>i like exploring, don't judge
>Hit up west wing without doing any tchort quests at all
>Clear out west wing, find everybody insane or dead
at very last part of west wing, i find a secret perception check ventilation shaft that lets me skip right over to another part of tchort
>Neat im free! I talk to a guy
HE SHOOTS ME FULL OF BULLETS
>i must be in restricted section.jpeg
>reload save, sneak mode enabled
>Sneak through the ENTIRE AREA without being detected, which is insane.
Get to elevator that goes down i guess? 120 hack check to unlock it
>Do it all in stealth, never detected
FACELESS ARE ATTACKING
WHAT THE FUCK DID I DO
Same thing I did
>"Remember, answer honestly!"
I'm here to get the cube you assholes stole
>Wipe out whole base
>Find locked elevator
>Kill Tchortmeister, get key
>Somehow jumpstart the endgame, never even doing the tchort missions or even cans/FD questline
Such is life in the Under-Underrail.
I did the same(except I went through the offices, and found the perception vent from the other side). Faceless are scripted to attack as soon as you call the elevator, regardless of how you do it.
Better reload and do all of the Tchortists' quests, they're fun and should net you like a whole level's worth of XP, at least.
With the perk it boosts my evasion/dodge to around 110 from the "real" 75, but desu I dont get hit much that often anyway because of sneak, get close to enemy, smash ENTER to initiate combat, smash them with sledge 3 times and restart stealth
With groups its just some patience with flashbangs+traps
Yeah nigga you're gonna get fucked up real soon. My sledge guy is level 16 now and he's just started getting the shit kicked out of him, especially against faceless and lurkers.
>doing tchort mission
>open some shutters via a computer
>tons of lunatics
>have a blast (literally, bless grenades) at their expense
>like, 10 dead or something
>use computer in the room I was holed in again
>turns out I coulda gassed the fuckers
>get one-shot by the Electro Imprint I'd left blocking the door on the way out
aaaaaand that's enough Underrail for one day.
Are those the stealth scorpions? Killed a few in some cave but they didnt seem that tough. Faceless on the other hand I fought at Rail Crossing and it wasn't too hard.
>Find institute of Tchort
>Guy hates me, tries to send me away on a suicide mission for a silly statue
"Oh This statue" as i pull it out of my pocket
>Explore Institute , Cool secret areas, stealth around past guards, ect.
>Finally find Samuel
I want you to kill the lunatics in that collasped station
>"I already did that sir"
>...oh... ok, heres your reward then
"Now i want you to clean out the west wing"
>"I already did that sir"
>"And here's the head of your lost platoon mate"
These fuckers must be terrified of me by this point
>that satisfying feeling when you force a melee enemy to walk into your psitrap
>One shotting fuckers in arena with proxy punch
Fuck me I love this, about to fight Dread Lord but that faggot wants me to rest, how long til I can go back and whipe the floor with him?
Those stealth dickheads that do 40 damage with fists? There's a pair of 2 just before you get to the small protectorate station?
Yeah those guys are fucking retarded with their -6 stealth cripple shit but since my stealth is high I managed to detect them and initiate then stunned them to death.
Nope never seen one of those
Rail Crossing quest, if you take it out unpleasant stuff will happen
its not, there's no point in using fist though when neural overload cant be resisted
Hey we need you to test this gun
Your high mechanics skill lets you spot a serious problem with the weapon and you hand it back and explain it to him
>"Oh thanks, here's your reward"
We also need you to get this data from a lab upstairs
>"You hand him the data"
>"Oh Thanks... here's your reward"
Niggas im dying of laughter at how many i've already somehow completed
-Mental Breakdown doubles neural overload damage on targets.
-You can get +30% Crit Damage on a Feat for Psi Abilities
-Psi Headbands can boost your crit damage by 60% on a good craft
Theres a special melee weapon that gives you +crit damage that doesn't only work on melee damage
-Trance gives +100% Crit Damage
Psi unarmed monk with powerfist teleproxy emission build is literally infuckingsane. I'm a full psi build with no unarmed talents, and i can punch a nigga and hit him seven+ times with different damage types on each one, its accidentally my backup damage spec when i feel like punching things.
AP's always at 50 regardless of stats, I think.
Got around 250 here, answer's no. They still make you out real quick if you're next to them, it just lowers the detection radius and slows down the detection time.
>That last fight in Arena
Was not expecting that, Arena has to be my favourite part of this game already.
The one on one aspect and figuring out how to handle your enemy is unreal.
Remember to go psychosis not tranquility. It's for the real big dick damage.
There are similarities, but this is more combat focused then Shadowrun. Pirate it if you like it buy it etc
To be fair, I'm Tranquility.
Psychosis doesn't really give you more damage , just more crit chance. For a full psi spec i would suggest tranquility
you can only pick one, and the other becomes locked
>For a full psi spec i would suggest tranquility
slightlyretarded. I'd call you full retarded but Tranquility isn't actually bad either, it's just slightly inferior.
I'd actually recommend Psychosis for a pure Psi build, and Tranquility for a hybrid one.
How the fuck do I deal with crawlers? They stab me, I cacoon myself in forcefields so they can't take advantage of the stun, then after the field wears away combat just stops and they do the same to me a few seconds later.
STAND STILL AND LET ME HIT YOU
I like Tranquility. It lets me play around with so many situational weapons, combine them, look for combo opportunities. Sure in some cases I die a lot and the dice roll can fuck me in the ass, but I have a feeling if I went Psychosis I would be just tossing Cryo-orbs at everything which sounds rather boring.
I REGRET MY DECISION AND IM TOO DEEP TO REROLL PSYCHOSIS ALRIGHT
^^^ Honestly Tranquility technically is a 10-30% flat out psi point cost reduction for the first turn, and every turn you have full health.
That + Meditation +25 Psi means you can literally cast 30% more spells without recharging your psi points.
This logistically is nearly identical in value to an on-demand crit. Just utilized differently. If you're going Tranquility i would almost demand you get stealth so you can manually initiate fights (or have high initiative).
Get locus of control, or Psudo Spacial Projection (have it active while running around crawler caves).
The Breakpoint between the paths is two turns. If you can keep your character at full HP for at-least two out of the four turns it takes Psionic Mania to cooldown, Tranquility beats the crit path out in damage.
There there anon, it's okay.
No but seriously, Tranquility is fine, I actually think the dev did a decent job on making the Tranquility and Psychosis line fairly balanced.
The main benefit to the Psychosis line though, other than Psionic Mania of course, is it incentivises going the crit route.
I know on my other Psi character, I never wanted to take any crit related things like Neural Overclocking due to it feeling like a waste.
On this character though, I'm critting quite often (Way more often that I expected) even without Psionic Mania activated, so I'm very happy with my choices.
>or have high initiative
I'm not sure how realistic that is on a pure psi build. I went with 8 agi thinking the initiative would help me but I still lose most of the rolls since my dex is 3.
I just quicksave often so that I can always get the jump on enemies, because i'll always know where they are. Quicksave before going around corners or into rooms, too ez.
Non Debatable, Tranquility gives you an additional spell cast per turn period.
Psychosis Takes away a spell cast per turn, and adds +15% Crit chance, which is a net loss overall by purely mathematical standards. (15% Crit Chance with a +100% Damage chance = 15% damage boost average. You would need at-least +260% Critical damage modifier to make Psychosis result in more base damage than tranquility just letting you cast another psionic overload each turn.)
Psionic Mania gives an assured crit though, which bumps it up to the 2 Turn breaking point.
>You would need at-least +260% Critical damage modifier to make Psychosis result in more base damage than tranquility just letting you cast another psionic overload each turn.)
That is very doable. My build right now has a 120% crit damage boost and it's in its early stages. Add Trance which adds another 100% crit damage. The other 40% can be made up from better gear.
Also there is a drug that increases your crit chance by an additional 15%
The one thing in my build that I wish I had would be Survival Instincts.
Get low health and you'd be running around with a near enough 90% crit rate at all times.
I run psi/machinegunner and found that area to be a right pain in the ass.
The best option I found was to work my way in through the north, gets behind the main shack and whack the couple of guys at the south, then skirt the south taking out the other few there to thin them out.
Then I stuck mines next to Bear traps around corners leading to the back door in the south, filled that tiny room with beartraps and caltrops, then started the fight through the doorway into the room with the pool table.
It was a goddamn murder spree. With the front door blocked by stunned/incapacitated enemies, they would go flooding around the back. Every other turn you would hear a snap, then a boom. It was glorious.
There's like 12-13 guys including Balor plus 2 or so dogs on that map that all come running at the sound of an explosion, or if someone gets to an alarm.
I am running Meta/Pistol and I basically did the same, but with flashbangs and fire.
the only problem was when bombardiers and grenadiers would throw double grenades at me.
Barlor himself was easy, freeze and then unload AP ammo. Rinse and Repeat
I had the feats for 2 less AP for SMGs, Pistols, etc, the 2 additional shots per burst, plus an SMG with a muzzlebreak on it granting 2 more shots per burst, plus the burst again for free on a kill with a burst once per turn feat, loaded with AP rounds.
I was doing 3 bursts of 7 rounds per turn. 4 with Adrenaline shots.
Everything dies so fast, but there are just so many of them there.
And I run out of ammo so frequently its horrible.
Why aren't there any torches in this game? Surely a simple pocket torch would make life so much easier.
Yes, it would make you easier to shoot but you could also see better.
If it were bright enough, you might even blind your enemy.
>Searching caves for hours
>Come across a few places of note
>Find a two Mentors
>Neither of them are for Metathermics, aka the Psi school which I'm using
>Find tons of unique weapons, again, which I cannot use
Fuck this game.
I'm starting to get the feeling that my aimless wandering since clearing junkyard may have gotten me deep into something I wasn't quite prepared for
I've seen you guys mention this guy, I have a feeling I'm in over my head right now.
Balor more like Gaylor
I dedicate this victory to Electrokinetic Imprint, special mention to forcefield so I could hide like a bitch and fully heal my hp/psi
Still have no idea who this guy is or what his red eye is about
Can anyone link me good psi-monk or good monk build (pic related), I don't know if I should invest heavily into DEX or STR
they shine really agressivly early on, but generally speaking all the guns (except pistols maybe? I dunno that execute ability is crazy) are on a pretty even playing field. Build balance in this game is for the most part good, provided you aren't playing knife or hammer melee which apparently fall of quickly near the midgame.
>Roman will no longer die of a heart attack at the start of Junkyard battle
>patch notes fail to mention that this is achieved by Roman being a no show when the raid goes down
I'm planning on going full PER as well, mainly for the accuracy and bonus to weapon skills. I was wondering how much of an impact would a single point really have at endgame? Because I'm thinking of putting 5 into PER instead and putting that 1 other point into CON so I'd have 10 and be able to pick up Thick Skull.
Can we all agree that the junkyard battle was pretty crappy
>takes like 3 minutes before you get a turn, all your soldiers are really powerful and they could almost certainly deal with the enemy faction without you.
I sided with the protectorate and the Eels against the Scrappers, and they just got fucking steamrolled. Only one Eel died, and no protectorate died.
its really dependant on the inititaive rolls early on.
for one Silas must not die, so if you are unlucky the sniper and grenadier from the Scrappers will fuck you up in turn 1 or 2
>playing crossbow/traps/stealth build
>want to be the poison king and use a lot of poison darts
>also want to use poisoned caltrops
>tranquilizing and shock bolts too
>w-what about flashbangs
>3 utility slots with the trapper's belt
fug i could have so much fun
Nah, he just chills at SGS while you do all the work like always.
Yep. I could hardly do anything because every time I got to my turn someone moved in my path. Got to fire a Cryo Orb once that took care of half of the enemies, after that I was just spamming space until someone finally managed to hit some poor worker that got cornered in a shack.
And I didn't even get my SGS embassy. What the fuck, I was promised one. Fucking liar cunts. We have the three SGS soldiers that took part in the raid standing at the docks, and that's it. Eels are all like "fucking southgaters fuck off" and SGS folks are like "eeehhh what are we doing there anyway, we should have just stayed home". And the Protectorate doesn't give a flying fuck.
>finish game with psi-only character
>start new character
>guy couldn't hit the side of a barn if was standing 3' from it, it was well-lit and he had a gun fixed on rails pointing directly at the barn
Psionics does exactly what you need it to, when you need it to.
Pure throwing is the poison build with throwing knives and caltrops.
It's also hilariously strong later on, you just throw a nade and then chain fatal throw knives on everything. Early game is a bitch though.
>mfw paying the new guy a mere 250 to raid Depot A for me
what a chump
WHERE DO I FIND MICRO SHRAPNEL/ACID BULLETS BLUEPRINT
I'M FUCKING READY TO CRAFT HUNDREDS, WHERE
Sledge/metal armor guy here. How on earth do you deal with all the psi using lunatics near the tchort church? Every fight is about eight of them with at least three different powers that screw you up
>Make myself a suit of supersteel armor finally.
>Put it on
>Same sprite as regular steel armor
My current build. I'm wearing bladed Heavy Armor and using the Power Fist currently. Wrecking face everywhere. Any suggestions on feats to take?
Lever's you mongoloid, Levers. Put all your heavy shit in cart. Go to a room you want cart to come to, pull lever. You can just use the levers at the ends of the track if you want. You only need 30 of those blade things and dont forget to take your other shit out of the cart before you burn it up.
>Dan's a total bro.
>Lurkers are in stealth even when taking a piss
For what purpose
How does that even work
>He's never aimed for the bowl instead of the water to avoid making loud piss noises.
While you're off sleeping, the lurkers are in stealth
While you're off doing pretty tasks for the SGS, the lurkers are in stealth
While you're off saving the world,
>MFW you need Borer Gizzards for the best chems in the game
Making my first char, need some advice. Is Thick Skull worth maxing out CON for? Is stun something that happens often and is a serious problem? Are there other ways to mitigate stun? Am I going to get completely fucked by dumping any stat that isn't related to brute force to 3?
Also, I remember seeing some sort of "beginner's guide" infographic around here, anyone mind reposting that?
>What sort of build are you considering doing?
Full retard. Maximum strength and constitution, a bit of agility and dexterity, everything else at 3. Then pick up a sledgehammer and go to town on everything, or maybe rip-n-tear with my bare hands. I haven't decided on that last part.
I have, objectively, the best character ever.
How does that make you feel, pseudo-Underrail general?
My Metathermics character is god mode, plain and simple.
>B-b-but my sniper one hit kills an enemy
Yeah? Well I one hit kill ALL the enemies. As in groups of the fuckers.
The fuck out of here niggers, all of your builds are weak.
The game is quite amazing so far. I'm listening to Amiga chiptune while playing instead of the OST.
Though, is there no map? I'm on the second mission, where I have to go to the Mushroom cove. Where is it already? I know it was on the right just after something.
About to go to Foundry and then Rail Crossing...or maybe I'll do it the other way around. Is there any electric damaging enemies there? I wanna know if I should use this Galvanic Vest or the Sturdy one for my new armor
>I have, objectively, the best character ever.
My trainer'd demigod with 20 in all stats and every skill maxed out would argue with that. I can do both super space magic and shooting people in the dick for overkill damage, and then finish up with some *nothin personnell* sneaky-ass shit. You got one way to kill enemies, I got them all.
>b-b-but dat's unfair and doesn't count
Yeah? Well it's my fucking game, and I play however I want to.
Sneak, although I don't even need to sneak. My range is so enormous that I can shoot shit as soon as they show up on the screen and besides my armor and health are pretty decent too, I don't die in 1 hit like all of those 3 CON psi builds
If you are wearing heavy armor and are melee thick skull is kind of useless imo because you get dazed anyway which means you get less Ap and even less movement points (which would be already shit because of armor penalty). If you are going ancient rathound + evasion/dodge it's really good because you will have decent movement points and still be extremely tank thanks to 10 CON + RNG miss + Ancient Rathound high treshold.
Also full retardo is better with sledgehammer, fist needs ton of dex to be viable imo. It's all about going full hokuto on your enemies and you need lightning fists, high dex and tabis to do that.
I'm doing a RIPNTEAR build and it's working pretty well ( >>323043049 )
If you're going full heavy armor and sledge your armor penalty is going to be so fucking high you might as well have 0 movement points. This means that IF you take Thick Skull and they daze you it's really no huge loss. You will need a way to close in on fuckers or you're gonna have a bad time.
I'd say if you dump agility to get con to 10 it might be worth it, but you might want to up int a bit and pick up Chemistry, Mechanics, and Thrown. Get the Grenadier feat so you can use Flashbangs to hold guys in place so you can punch them. Make yourself a metal helmet with a shaded visor so you're immune to your own Flashbangs. Wear metal boots so you can put Caltrops everywhere. Also consider getting Electronics to 25 so you can make yourself a taser for another way to hold guys in place.
Don't dump Dex either if you're going unarmed. Combo is a staple Unarmed skill, and it requires 8 Dex. If you're gonna sledgehammer it might be better to dump Dex and get agility to at least 6 just for Sprint.
>Though, is there no map?
No, there is no map.
>I know it was on the right just after something.
The guy meant your character's right, since he was giving directions to your character. Meaning you need to go left from your perspective. Also, it's the only fucking place south of SGS you can go to at that moment. It's literally impossible to miss unless you're a retard.
I fucking KNEW there's something fishy about that place.
Oh yeah, forgot about that. Though you've got some higher-tier enemies on the way there, if I recall, which is a pretty good sign that you're not supposed to head there right at the start of the game. Anyway, my point was that it's pretty fucking hard to miss the shroom cove.
Heavy Fist is quite viable. You still need loadsadex but you bust through mechanical resistances like nobody's business. You can land a dirty kick then two normal punches and a heavy and destroy pretty much anything.
Thanks for the input. Guess I'll go with a hammer then, because unarmed apparently needs serious dex and good agility and my char is pretty much the opposite. So it'll be heavy armor plus a heavy hammer, and I'm just hoping that my 10 con will be enough to get me close to fags so I could hammer the shit out of them. Also I'm obviously going to put all the extra stat points into STR, because you can never have too much of that. Or should I maybe split it with CON?
Also, the wiki mentions that INT plays part in conversations? Is it like Fallout and I'll get some special retard options because mine's at 3?
>takes like 3 minutes before you get a turn, all your soldiers are really powerful and they could almost certainly deal with the enemy faction without you.
Reminiscent of Fallout's Boneyard fight then. It's pottery.
>frenchfag not understanding crypto ironic bait
Immersion, anon. Just imagine some dick-ass fuckers going around and looting shit, and then locking up the containers afterwards just to fuck with you. Which is totally what I'd be doing in a post-apocalypse.
They take an hour in real time to produce. Their quality is also random and they might be worse than some TiChort you can just buy.
>Indieshits ignore /vg/ to get maximum exposure for retrograde of the week
Just suck a mid size streamer's dick and let this game linger in /wrpg/.
>it's english only
wut r u doin stygo?
>a lot of yurofags need to learn english anyway
Is there any gear that boosts tailoring?
I'm trying to create some godly armour from infused ancient rathound leather, but my tailoring is only 149, and I need it to be at least another 10 levels higher. I'm not really sure that the 15% bonus in the PC house does, but it doesn't seem to boost your tailoring skill by 15%.
Holy fucking shit. I just ran into
I just wanted some fuck, but apparently she had a different meaning of that in mind.
Pretty easy to survive though, I just lured her into the room with the electric current running through it then fried her ass (not sure if that was the intended way, but since I'm a Psi user, that's all I could do)
go metal armor assault rifle, get at least 7 (8 for best metal armor) strength and 10 constitution, take expertise, full-auto, juggernaut, concentrated fire and commando as your talents. Enjoy being a literal tank mowing down niggas.
>Evelyn didn't really want to speak to me
>found my way into her sex dungeon while exploring
>snitched on her to the chief
>tfw no lesbian sex
If this were a Bioware game, things would have gone differently.
After a short while they just become worthless, I'm always on the lookout for lots of good quality electronics and weapons parts but they very rarely show up on vendors that I have like 10 stacks of money unused right now.
>there are armors at 9. are those worse?
Midgame you have access to either tungsten wich has higher mechanical res and requires 9 str or tichrome which has less mechanical res but more heat and energy res and 8 str req. Then at endgame supersteel armor (the best) has 8 str req. 9 str might be worth it if you really don't want to use tichrome at midgame and to be able to still have full precision after a crippling strike (-2 str still puts you at 7 which is enough to use ARs) but it's such a rare occurance I don't think it's worth it.
>Is it possible to throw in melee on such a build?
>Power fist looks so tasty.
you can definitely throw even with low dex you just need to invest a bit more if you go min dex (around 50-60 should be anough even with a penalty). Forget about melee though you are going to be really slow and most people will die before even reaching you, investing in the melee skill when you are so focused on ARs isn't worth it. You actually need more help at high range so keep a sniper rifle to drop psionics if you can't reach them because they can do a lot of damage that ignore your plate armor.
>Am I going to regret joining the Free Drones?
>will I regret the primarily north underrail based organization fighting a guerilla war against a well established and powerful faction centered in playable areas
Well, only if you hate more quests, merchants, and money.
>am i going to regret joining a band of psychopaths ready to murder anyone accused in connections with protectorate by tying them to the rails and stretching their insides from one station to the other?
>Hating on Free Drones.
>Calling them psychopaths and terrorists
>Protectorate has the CAU
Those are mammals.
Everyone is a bit limited at the start. You've just scratched the surface of your potential. Use cryokinesis to out range your opponents. You're not quite strong enough to stand your ground. Those movement points are separate from action points for a reason.
>and don't treat you like shit for being a Southerner
Wait, I knew the group is from the north, but are the members you meet also come from there? I thought they were locals recruited when they started branching out.
So I am currently stuck on the last boss as a pure Psi character, I really do not think I can beat him (Fucking constantly spawning Tchort devourers). If anyone needs any help with DC lemme know, I even solved the mutagen puzzle.
You're not playing effectively.
>a small community is attacked by raiders and is barely surviving on it's own
>Protectorate offers help and supplies to fend off those raiders
>Free Drones steal the train with supplies because muh anarchy
>they claim that Protectorate is evil but at the same time they have no problems with dooming an entire community
>Protectorate gives food to the poor, protect small communites that can't protect themselves etc.
>Free Drones just blow shit up and kill people they don't like, yet to see a single example of them actually helping anyone
I dunno Anon, you tell me.
>Not just a terrorist tool for aggressive expansionism.
>Not literal psychopaths who get off on killing people in the most gruesome ways possible.
The Protectorate are just the current victors in the north. They're not "good" by any means. They take what they want at gunpoint. If a station doesn't want to sign with them, they force situations where they have to sign
Like they did with Rail Crossing
If you can't murder everything you encounter on third level with psi you have a bad build as well.
So the America faction. I can dig it.
But that is almost exactly my build. Like, it seems you dont even fucking listen to me. I can kill anyone, but my mana goes away so fucking quick that i have to guzzle boosters.
Learn to fucking read.
>They treat you like assholes for being from the South. The vendor talks shit constantly.
I haven't even met these guys and already I want to go on a murder spree. Do you get a chance to do that? I don't even give a fuck about their ideology or whatever, I'm playing a char who lets nobody break his balls. Talk shit - get hit, etc.
>They take what they want at gunpoint. If a station doesn't want to sign with them, they force situations where they have to sign Like they did with Rail Crossing
Rail Crossing accepted Protectorate help willingly because of raider attacks.
Free Drones just let Rail Crossing die to the raiders. Great alternative.
Show me a single example where Free Drones actually helped anyone. They would rather see everyone live miserable lives/die than be happy under Protectorate.
You need 10 will or even above.
As for perception - don't fucking use long-range guns with this build, it will suck. You have cryo shards for this with their retarded 12 square range. Get yourself chem pistol and 6 PER, invest into aimed shot and opportunist, take mad chemist and execute on one of level ups and you will become a crowd control master. Dump the rest into psi feats but avoid shit like Psychostatic Electricity, it's useless.
I was surprised Balor was a 'thing' here. I have a absolute trash first timer SMG build with only 10 dex with odd 100 points in stealth and had no issues blasting through that chap with few SMG bursts. Having stealth I managed to track his patrol route and ambush him in the back room.
I guess stealth solely was pretty OK investment. I don't really have any feats or abilities to compliment it. Just lurk next to an opponent, taze it & smoke it. Spec ops, gun & run and commando give enough freedom to take down packs of 2 or 3 pretty easily.
>They would rather see everyone live miserable lives/die than be happy under Protectorate.
I think they'd rather see people live on their own than under the boot of a fascist regime.
That's exactly what a Protectorate shill would say.
If the Protectorate were truly "Good" they'd help just to help. Every time they help it comes with a price, and the price is putting them in charge.
It's just another facet of their expansionist policy. Any time something goes wrong they dangle a short term solution in front of people in return for them being in charge in the long term.
Do you even fully grasp what they did with Rail Crossing? They sent them "help" then leaked that they were sending the train through their Free Drone spy. Then they had the Free Drones stop the train and when they could have helped move along getting it to Rail Crossing they held off. They did everything they could to make Rail Crossing desperate so they can swoop in at the end.
Their typical strategy is to either take advantage of a crisis, manufacture a crisis, or just shoot one side of a conflict if the other side agrees to suck their dick.
You've seen enough fiction to know a democratic core city would be as corrupt and backstabbing as the oligarchs.
If we want a strong underrail, humanity needs unity.
>If the Protectorate were truly "Good" they'd help just to help. Every time they help it comes with a price, and the price is putting them in charge.
Sounds pragmatic to me. It's what I'd do. Metal armor and assault rifles are expensive. I can't waste time where I get nothing back for helping when I've got other fires to put out.
>If the Protectorate were truly "Good" they'd help just to help.
They are not.
> Every time they help it comes with a price
I'd rather take help with a price than die to raiders and get eaten by Lurkers.
Free Drones literally think Rail Crossing should be happy to die. They are nutjobs.
Sorry I should clarify what exactly I meant by that. I was planning on using psi mostly for CC. Stuff like force field and all the thought control stuff.
The plan was still to use an assault riffle as my main damage.
They managed for a pretty long time alone. Nothing game-changing happened that would force them to accept outside help.
But feel free to continue sucking Melek's dick like a good boy.
>every Underrail thread revolves around combat
Sounds like a boring piece of shit for nostalgic munchkin faggots, to be honest.
>game is released after Fallout 4 and everyone buyer remorse
>They managed for a pretty long time alone. Nothing game-changing happened that would force them to accept outside help.
>Rail Crossing is barely dealing with raiders and perishes in the ending slides if they don't get the Protectorate help
>People get eaten by cannibals on a daily basis
Yeah, everything is fine and dandy.
>What do I need for regenerating + 200% bullet mechanical resistance + Psi?
regen vest+w/e balistic panel+psi beetle shell
Blaine sells the vest quite often (or maybe I just got lucky)
>two lone sisters living on isolated island
>no option to fuck both of them senseless
>He said nothing that would justify sacrificing the sovereignty of the South.
They are literally dying there.
If they don't get the train, Rail Crossing is destroyed in the ending slides.
Nice fucking job, Fee Drones are really the best.
It's one community, and not even a big one at that. What happens to them is shit luck, but by letting the Protectorate in you take the choice away from everyone else. Not worth it.
How come Underrail didn't get any attention from the mainstream press? Only Destructoid did a review...I mean I get that it's an indie game and there's tons of them out there, but it's not Yet Another 2D Platformer.
No. They expand a handful of loading screens over to one community and save lives increasing their influence, but not necessarily infringing on the sovereignty of any of community.
We're not making the choice. The leader of rail crossing made the choice and we're simply doing a job for him.
>defending the derailed lunatics that would murder rape a friendly productive settlement
Free Drones Drone everybody
Is this what MLK wanted? Beautiful...
>chem pistol/psi hybrid
>incapacitating last bandit left alive
>slowly crossing the battlefield to the optimal firing range with my chem pistol
>aimed shot with opportunist almost takes his entire hp pool and leaves him in a chem blob
>bandit is fully conscious when chem blob dissolves him during the next turn
Playing as a mad psi scientist is strangely satisfying.
>How come Underrail didn't get any attention from the mainstream press?
You answered your own question. I doubt your average mainstream videogame reviewer even know this game exists. To be fair the game isn't particularly unique or interesting, it's just a very solid dungeon crawling rpg.
Yes, please, let's put an enemy in the game that gets a free cloak, stun poison, and can instantly disappear, unable to be found even with flares, grenades, and 12 perception. Fuck this fucking game.
Try the incendiary blob pistol. With the mad chemist feat it can set your target ablaze for 300% damage over two turns.
Combine that with a guaranteed critical with aimed shot (and the fear from the fire), and you've got somethin fine goin on
>that spell that gives you fire aura
I got just the thing for you, my man. Buy my Hercules super strength pill and you can swing that hammer around like it's nothing, all for the low low price of 500 charons, because I like you.
>Cast Thermodynamic Destabilization on an enemy
>Kill him with an Ice Psi attack
>He doesn't explode
Oh and before anybody says huurrrrr ice attacks nullify it...it doesn't say that on the skill at all. It simply says when the target dies, he explodes.
Anybody know what the fuck the deal is? Is it indeed my ice spells stopping them from exploding or what? If so, is that a bug?
It is indeed your ice spells stopping it. If it applies chill, it can stop someone from burning, or remove fire debuffs in general, and vice versa, I believe. Is it a bug? I don't think so, but maybe.
Yeah it's a pretty common build. Just focus on those three stats, Per and Con being the most important. I think you need 8 str for metal armor though. Can't remember. You're pretty much going to be dropping every other stat though.
>it doesn't say that
It also doesn't say freezing someone will quelch the flames of someone on fire, but here we are.
I've got 39/8 resistance, but them hitting me is rarely an issue in general.
>Get Exothermic Aura on my Metathermics only character
>Excited as fuck
>Excitement dies down
>Realize it's not all that amazing on a Psi only character
I still like the spell a lot, but it's just not for this type of character I'm playing.
However, it makes me want to make another Sledge guy, only this time with Metathermics just for that ability.
Fuck, that actually sounds amazing. Must resist the urge to do so right now.
