Strange/creepy/leepest stuff in videogames

I've got one that hopefully someone can help me out on. I have never been able to successfully find any info via google on this. In Oblivion in The Shivering Isles in the dementia half of the city. Entering from outside the city, if you go to the left and walk to where there is a little sewer drain you can hear a song being plaid. It's made out of little water droplet noises. I have never found an explanation for this. Anybody know what I'm talking about

I'm starting up my game to check, OP
>>
>>322996872
I'm familiar with it but I don't know if it's an original song that they just did for fun or if it's a new version of an existing piece.
>leepest

>>
>>322997053
I am in your gratitude that at least one other person will know about it other than me.

>>322997080
You've heard it too? It was always so strange to me and I can't find anything on it. It plays in another place that I found but I don't remember where.

Well I loaded up my game, and it's there. If you want I can find a way to record it and I'll post it in the thread.

If I had to take a weird guess I'd say it has something to do with the sound of water just dripping driving people insane? There's also the water drip torture.

I mean I don't want to sound crazy but

I was watching water drop from my faucet one time when I was half asleep during one morning getting ready for school (I was in middle school at the time) and I started focusing really hard on the water. "Hyper focusing" I guess. And suddenly the water started dripping extremely slowly. I stepped out of the bathroom and my perception of time was slowed down. My sister was trying to talk to me and I couldn't understand what the fuck she was saying.

I snapped out of it eventually though

the same thing happened to my dad and my uncle when they were focusing on an object repeatedly moving.

> You might have super powers.

When it happened I assumed I just had a panic attack because I have really bad anxiety. I tried to recreate it one time but I couldn't really capture the right feeling I had when I was looking at the water. Its hard to describe but when I was focusing on the water I felt weird as fuck. I could only hear the water and I wasn't thinking about anything. I sort of felt like I was in a dream.

A year later me and my dad were talking about out of body expeirenced for whatever reason and he said "You know the weirdest thing happened to me when I was younger.." and described the exact same thing that happened to me.

I don't think its super powers or anything crazy like that but I'm really curious on finding out what the fuck happened to me.

I love little RPG and Game Maker games because they can do whatever they want with your computer unlike a published game with restrictions.

This isn't really a spooky story but like OP it's something I've never been able to find info on

I was playing Rayman on PS1 as a kid. I was in the first area on the map when a path into a cloud area appeared. I went up it but didn't start the cloud level and instead went back to the swamp area. When I started the swamp level my fists had gone and I couldn't find a way to get them back. Also the cloud path had disappeared from the map

Never been able to find an explanation, which makes me think I might have dreamt it or some shit. However I definitely deleted my save after I lost the fists which is the part that most makes me think it happened

Anyway can anyone provide an answer, it's been bugging me for years

I can't find it. But it exists. I think I saw articles about a year or two ago. Dungeon with a very precise requirement to open and nobody had cared enough to look in the files to see it so it was never widely known about. Somebody's gotta know. I think it was Final Fantasy.

Alright I'll just explain some of this shit because I've never talked about it with anyone before but it doesn't really matter if I say it here because everyone's anonymous

> when I was 16 my mom explained a dream she had about me that literally predicted shit that happened to me later that day and the events changed my life for a while
> when I was 17 my mom explained to me another dream that predicted my week and those events were, again, life changing
> my mom has no recollection of ever telling me about any of these dreams, but I know for a fact that they happened because the second time she told me about them I wrote a note about it in my phone
> I started looking up different shit about the occult and mysticism and shit after that happened and learned about auras and the pineal gland and shit
> fucked around with trying to see my own aura and stuff, very doubtful about everything. I saw some different colors but figured it was an illusion
> the more I played around with it the more colors and shit i could see
> a few months later everyone I saw had "auras" and shit

Pretty sure I'm just insane desu senpai. After that shit started happened I stopped seeing stuff like that because I thought I was definitely freaking myself out and was imagining shit.

I never went to /x/ I just looked up shit online on my own. I never talked about any of this on 4chan though or anywhere else.

The auras were layered. So at one point every person I saw had a color around them, but if I focused in on a person I would see different colors on top of the first color.

I was never really able to figure out what any of it meant though because it seems like everyone has a different idea of what the aura colors mean.

I know that feel, anon. I remember playing a game on my dad's computer when I was maybe 5 or so (I played a lot of point and click PC games at the time - Spy Fox, Pajama Sam, Jan Pienkowski's "Haunted House" and the like) and I remember playing a black and white point and click that revolved around finding keys. All I remember is a hallway that looked like pic related, with either a portrait or a bust of some nosferatu-looking nigga on the right side, and it would fly around the room if you clicked it.

The part I remember more distinctly is a bedroom with a super wide, FOV camera. The room is entirely empty apart from a bed, maybe a dresser or something, and upon entering the room, a shadow that slooooowly walks across the room, as if being projected from directly behind where he camera is located.

What fucks me up the most is that my dad doesn't remember anything about the game, and I went through every single point and click game on the "retro Mac archive" and couldn't find it. And the only "paranormal" occurrence I've ever experienced is seeing a super similar shadow walk across my basement (about 5 years after I would have played the game), and phasing through both sliding glass doors. The shadow had no source, and my family was asleep (I checked right after).

tl;dr: Played a mysterious game as a kid that featured shadow people (or just one), then saw a shadow person a few years later in a similar fashion. Maybe I dreamed up the game, but the experience in my basement was incredibly real, and my brother remembers me waking him up to tell him about it.

One year later you're wanking off with your crystal buddies to charge life energy
>>
>>323010136
It's not a slippery slope, you just don't fucking tell people. If they're aware they're nuts the next logical step is to keep quiet, so long as the involved craziness isn't social in the first place.
>>
>>323010281
It's a video game, everything is intentionally put there.

You're trying to find something that isn't there.
If it were music, it would have some pattern, chorus, or rhythm to it.

This is just random pitches ala Crazy Bus.
Take a minute and think about how lazy Bethesda is, including their actual easter eggs.

They wanted a constant dripping sound, so they took one sample, and randomly pitch shifted it and had it play at a regular interval.
>>
>>323009370
It could very well be synesthesia. My friend has synesthesia, and he's a very talented musician partially because of it. He thinks about music in colors and shapes, and recently found a gf that does too, and they listen to music together and compare the colors they hear, which usually line up.

Also, I'm not really a drug user, but the one time I took mushrooms, I temporarily had synesthesia. I'm a shitty drummer normally, but I could play on-beat perfectly because I could "feel" it and sort of "see" the passing of time happen, and divide it evenly. Usually I think about music in pure theory terms, but I found myself playing a solo and an image of a blue triangle appeared in my head, so I just thought "yeah, blue triangle would sound good", and I just played it and it sounded really good. I wish I could remember exactly what I played, but it was something related to the dorian scale.

Anyway, my friend who has synesthesia all the time has also taken LSD about 10 times now (he's had synesthesia for years though, didn't try LSD until recently) and he now claims to be able to see people's auras.

I don't buy into hippie "third-eye" shit, or that drugs can make you smarter or whatever, but I believe that if you can hear pitches as colors, interpreting personalities as colors isn't farfetched. Especially considering that I had synesthesia on mushrooms, and my only friend who can see "auras", has tripped many times and is incredibly synesthetic.
>>
>>323010319
I'd count that as old-/x/, desu. Anything before the current state that it's in.

I blame the sticky for making it seem like magick and the occult would be okay, and mods for never fucking touching it.
>>
>>323010468
First of all I will have you know that wanking off with your buddies is a damn fine and acceptable medium to channel transient cosmic energy.

Second of all he's being perfectly level headed here. He's just perceiving some things outside of the normal realm of what people can. Exploring a new side of himself will surely lead to newfound enjoyment and self control.

I dislocated my knee once and got nitrous oxide in the hospital. The nurse turned away so I started huffing like mad, and saw sounds as colors on a pastel pink background, and now I always associate pastel pink with hospitals and vice versa. Synthesesia, even artificial, is bretty gud.

>>
>>323010590
It does have pattern and rhythm. It is probably difficult to tell from that little clip but if you actually find it it's clearly a song and not random. It is also definitely the same sound pitch shifted but does that mean it can't be a song? If they wanted a dripping sound they'd get one, and they do have some already that they use. This isn't one.

I've seen the whole mystery of mt chilliad bullshit, and I've scanned the web for people mentioning weird sounds, but I still haven't heard anyone talking or capturing footage of random noise I heard while playing GTAO.

It was like someone was teleporting behind me. I was next to a mountain near the dam and alone during the night. I was just walking down the road and I heard it two times within a minute when I stopped walking. I continued walking and nothing, stopped later and heard it again with 4ish minutes of waiting. It sounded like a mountain alien zapping in and out of existence, or a ship going into hyperspeed. But the sound was all around, or just sort of "behind" me. No idea what caused it and haven't heard it since.

His shenanigans allowed the Combine to invade Earth and enslave humanity.

I get that he was mad about his little crystal, but it's not like EVERYONE on the planet was guilty. Hell, most people in BM didn't even know what the Lambda complex was.

And I get that he was trying to escape Xen and by extension the Combine,

Actually, I think it was a demo for Uninvited. There's a bust on the right side of a main hall, and there's an animation of a bat flying around over a kitchen table, and babby me could have easily confused them for the same room.

I couldn't find anything related to the shadow person I remember seeing, but I do remember it being a woman and maybe screaming, and right before you enter the bedroom, there's a woman who you only see the back off, and she screams when you defeat her (she was a skellington/ghost all along).

I guess I was wrong about the game, and combined it with my actual shadow person experience. I feel dumb now.

Need for Speed 3, Empire City bonus track. You spend the whole game doing normal car stuff in small towns, racetracks, mountains, etc and then you unlock the extra level and it's pretty much this dreary, gothic-industrial Hell with cyborg cops and skeleton-headed angel statues. Not what I was expecting playing it being young and impressionable, at least.

Unfortunately they somewhat ruined the atmosphere in the PC port so it isn't quite as dark, but I don't have screenshots of that offhand.

When you're really tired and just woke up, depending on certain factors you can have what is basically a trip. I once had the most fucking insane morning after I stayed up late with my then-girlfriend at the hospital then woke up right when I was about to start dreaming. I was awake, and able to function, but I was seeing visions of a creature like Xavier Renegade Angel and he was speaking in riddles that I could understand at the time and anything I looked at he was go and turn it into dots and pick them up. This went on for probably 10 or 15 minutes. I really can't describe how surreal it was.

Something similar might have happened to you, or something completely different. The mind and the body are pretty weird.

Does anybody remember that easter egg on the Carnival level in THPS4?

One of the rails on the front porch of the haunted house in the Carnival level leads straight into the wall, and if you grind it into the wall your skater gets teleported into a creepy abyss, and you're suddenly skating on a giant evil clown's tongue. The music instantly cuts out and gets replaced with a demonic laugh. The game pretty much turns into a bad trip until you exit by going into the clown's mouth and getting dropped off in front of the haunted house like nothing ever happened.

The THPS games had a look of spooky shit in general, like the Roswell alien in THPS1, Skater Heaven from THPS2 in general (going back and thinking about it, it was fucking creepy), and the haunted house from THPS3 with all the spooky floating objects. Also, the house was inaccessible by the front door, and a pair of red eyes would peer out at you through the blackness when your back was turned, but if you managed to be quick enough to jump in before the door shut completely, you'd just fall through blackness for a few seconds and hear an evil laugh or something.

Also, the fact that to get into the haunted house, you need to do a quest for someone named "the Thin Man" sends shivers down my spine.

A few things. The fact that it's just a skatepark floating on a rock in the depths of space (or the actual afterlife if it's actually "skater heaven"). God speaks to you and refers to you as "my son" or something like that, and the general geometry of the level, as well its atmosphere and sparse, unnatural foliage could only be described as "surreal". It comes across as incredibly ambivalent, which is what unsettles me - it's that "unknowing" feeling. The moon was also looming above you, and the poor draw distance made you really feel like you were up in space somewhere.

Do it, it's great. First game in the series to add triple-tap tricks, reverts, and so on (although in THPS2 you don't actually need reverts- it's possible to tap into a manual at the exact moment you land on a ramp and continue your combo, I figured that out and did it all the time as a kid). I own both and even now don't even know why I have the PS1 version- it's pretty acceptable, though, they did what they could with the hardware. Neversoft or whoever did the PS1 version was pretty good at that- same for the last PS1 NFS games, back when Electronic Arts gave a shit.

>>323017836
I've got Demul downloaded, but never used it for anything other than arcade games; guess I could try that or stick with PS1 emulation that I'm more familiar with and then Dolphin for THPS3 and 4 (although the PS2 version of 3 has all those sweet hidden characters like DOOMGUY). I know a lot of people complain about this boss being easy, but it's still really fucking spooky. I mean, It just comes out of absolutely nowhere; the entire game is full of completely regular looking black and white sprites; then, all of a sudden, you have this massive photo-realistic monster that fills your screen and completely bombards you with shit. Honestly, it kinda makes the other two final bosses less exciting; the True Pacifist ending is just Asriel, who isn't terribly unique neither visually or battle-wise. Not to mention it's ACTUALLY impossible to die during the battle, and you get free infinite healing items/damage ups. Like, I get that they didn't want you to die because it wouldn't be fitting to crash the game after every death and taking you out of the battle would ruin the flow, but there must've been a better way than handing you the fight and turning it into a big cutscene more than anything else. Then there's the Genocide mode ending, which was EXTREMELY disappointing. Like, the Sans fight was cool and all, and it really went beyond the difficulty of any fight in the entire game, but then the ending's just "you kill everything then a palette swap of you you've only vaguely heard of until now kills you". It's like something out of a poorly written creepypasta; granted, that's kinda what they did with Omega Flowey, but Omega Flowey was actually intimidating while Chara just kinda copies Uboa's face/scream and waddles at the screen and closes the window.

Apparently the kid dies of SIDS, and was forever immortalized with a floating candle/creepy nursery/ghost child in a crib room in Call of Duty.

Odd world we live in.

These are the kinds of easter eggs I love; spooky shit in games where you'd never expect them. Like, it's not even very hard to find; if you were wandering around the end of the level (there's usually stuff hidden past the flag-pole, so it's not out of the question for someone to be wandering around out there for 30 seconds), you'd definitely see it. It makes me wonder if Nintendo was aware of this and kept it in.

I had no idea this was a thing.

How is it a problem? I dont even use it in anyway, or atleast not conciously, i just see certain stuff and im like, that looks cool.

Im pretty sure literally everyone has/does this to some degree. We all combine sounds or other input into images in our head to some degree.

I played mario 64 once and I remember getting mario to a corner of the snow map, before the camera twitched crazily and something odd began to happen. My vision somehow focused in on the screen and I found Mario's model--the art design and entite aesthetic of his face to be uneasing. I cant explain it, but when I see his face mid-animation where hes staring face front (as opposed to his head turned to the side) I get a disturbing odd feeling. A mix of nostalgia, repulsion, trauma and simply the word "mexico" come to mind in an immediate surge. Anyway, so suddenly the trumpets of the song began to get louder. I remember the sound being so surreal because it was just the trumpets that felt like they began to seep from the tv. Soon it was around my ears enveloping me, and the entire sounder of the game became louder exponentially. At this point my body kicked into emergency mode. My heart began beating with a speed ive never felt. My ears were exploding; I thought I was surely going deaf, and that people experience hypersensitive hearing right before they lose their hearing. I then picked up on all sounds in the house, and everything was completely overbearing. A shower being on. The sound of me bringing a blanklet to my chest and the very friction being too loud. The fucking neighbor shutting his goddamn car. I could hear it all and it hurt to an extreme degree. I paced in and out from my house, trying to ease my breath, but outside the birds chirping was too much.

This stayed for about an hour, before happening once more some other day. The first episode resulted in permanent tinnitus which I can hear even right now. Doctors have no clue, and said it could be a million things.

I literally can't play the snow level without feeling uneasy ever again. I can ignore mario's face unless I intentionally try to make myself nauseous, but I can't handle the music on the snow level.

I'm sorry, but that made me laugh

I'm not an expert, so take this as you will, but sometimes when I get a particularly bad anxiety attack time slows to a halt, all sound becomes too much, as you described, and the throbbing of my heart is the only real connection I have to sanity. Sounds edgy, I know, but I can't explain it any better. It's like my heart acting as a metronome is the only thing that's stopping me from losing all sanity. It's fucked. It's actually quite similar to that scene in Futurama where Fry drinks too much coffee, except it's not euphoric, it's terrifying.

The human mind is a strange thing. I wonder why such trivial stimuli had such a major effect on you. The only explanation I can offer is extreme anxiety, but it seems like your case might even be deeper than that.

Nah, I find it funny too. But there's no doubt that my mind finds something mexico-like in that frame.

I definitely felt that sense of time distortion somehow. Like my body was lagging behind the actual events. It was during the camera trickery and the right before the music started becoming hell on earth.
From there on I feel the reliance on one's heart to stay sane is just a survival thing that forces you to be aware of your heart. In the moment it is fucking scary though. At that moment I was ready to accept a heart attack and certain death. Did you find your attacks to be less physical and more psychological perhaps?

Dunno about anxiety. I mean, I have it now after the fact. But before it happened I was in perfect mental health. I love mario, and mostly all his games. I never found his frame specific face frightening until I focused in on it--never minded at all as a kid. It's not like I have traumatic experiences from my childhood either, especially related to mario (or mexico). It just came right out of fucking nowhere and it ticks me off.

This fucking reminds me.

None of you will believe me, but I can confirm on both the Xbox and PC versions of Chaos Theory, if you listen to the ambient track of the Spies vs Mercs map on the level with train and the forklift in the center, you will hearing something that sounds just like toad's voice clip in mk64. The one where he hits you with a shell and he goes "YEAH-Huhhuhhuhhahhah!!"

In CT, it cuts off at YEAHhu- but it sounds just like it. Never told this to anyone.

Also I remember some lone spy trying to show me a manequin and cloth move suddenly on the orphanage mansion map, but he couldn't make it happen. Since he tried though, I realized how unsettling that map really is.

Let's say for miles out in a spooky forest out in the middle of nowhere in the night, there's a shanty worn down home surrounded by thick trees with some windows all around.

Is it spookier to be in the forest, and looking up at a bunch of windows with potential eyes staring down at you in the pitch black interiors of the house

Or is it spookier to be in the dark house, with barely anything to look at outside, completely surrounded by trees in the dark and several windows?

How incredibly bizarre.

Well, my body constantly exhibits the classic physical signs of panic - my palms are sweaty mom's spaghetti, my heart races, etc etc, so I'd say so. If I feel the physical effects to during an attack its definitely significant. Does that even make sense?

That's totally strange, and you've ruled out all the obvious explanations. Maybe it's just the polys, 90s VHSs and old vidya always give me an unexplained creepy vibe on a quite primal level. There's just something very wrong about it, I suppose.

It's still my favorite game of all time, so I'd say yes.

It was years ahead of its time in terms of sound design, and AI (though the pathfinding is a little wonky, npc's will run and find help when damaged, run toward alarms and set them off, etc). Play on expert and don't forget to get newdark.

I wouldn't bother with most texture packs or anything, they make the game look like ass honestly (though the canon texture pack on ttlg is pretty okay - just unfinished).

All in all a great game.

>Understand nothing: "You think what you do has meaning? You think you slay me, and I am dead? It is just dream and waking over and over, one appearance after another, nothing real. What you do here means nothing. Why do we waste our breath on you?"

Ash Slaves:
>"The chairs. The tables. All confused. We hear the words, and must speak them. We take them, and arrange them, but still, they will not be quiet."

>"Everything is wrong. This is not straight. This is too high. This is in my way. We must put them right."

Ash Zombies:
>"WHERE ARE YOU, LORD? We cannot hear you.... SPEAK to us! PLEASE!"

>"What are you? Where is this place? I'm so tired, LET ME SLEEP!"

Ash Ghouls:
>Dagoth Ur: "He will not come to you, Lord Nerevar. It is you who must beg forgiveness. Go to him, beneath Red Mountain, kneel before him, and he will show you mercy."

>Fallen brother: "The soul of Dagoth Gares is among us. You have broken his body, but his spirit is with us in our waking dreams."

>Will not submit: "You have chosen war with Dagoth Ur. We grieve for your loss, but we will not spare you. You refused the sweetness of Lord Dagoth's friendship. Now know the bitterness of his fury."

stalkers aren't synths, they're former humans. synths are the hunters/striders/gunships. Anything with that glossy carapice.

But I agree that the Nihilanth is a combine puppet.

Reminds me of the Lavender Town song but it's very unlikely that it's that.

W-what would've happened if you didn't manage to run to each of those buttons in that relatively short timeframe?

I remember as a kid seeing what I remember to be a commercial for something related to videogames and it showed a guy push a fork into his arm and it was very gruesome. I remember only being able to watch it like once or so and after that I literally wasn't allowed to watch it anymore. If the commercial came on my mom would make me look away. I was very young probably about 5 or so. This would have been around 1995-1999ish. I have never been able to find any information on this now that I am older. Does anyone remember anything about this or know what I might be talking about?

It's a pretty good book but the way it was hyped to me I was expecting more.

Still cool seeing the writing style in the last trip

I played Resident Evil HD last year. I did't know much about the series and never played the original RE1 so everything was new to me. Everything feels like a B horror movie with the cheesy dialogue and (spoilers I guess) giant snake monster so nothing really freaked me out. But then something hit me hard emotionally for some reason. There's a monster which you later find out is really a little girl that was given the virus by the Umbrella company. Her parents were taken away from her. Her mother and father are being tested on aswell. They go insane and eventually die/get killed. The mom leaves a note behind about how even if she dies she hopes her daughter won't forget her, or something like that. It made me really sad and it creeped me out for a couple of minutes, even though nothing else in the game did that to me. Made me think about my own family and stuff. Anyone know what I'm talking about? You get the note after the monster puts the "face" in the coffin and jumps down a hole.

Haven't played GTA5 yet, don't the dudes have powers? I guess those are some "deepest lore" details to hint a justification of the slow time powers they have.

Original Xbox UI is the epitome of late-90's/early-00's faux-matrix cool comfycore. I love it, and I've never even owned one.

Really? I see, so there are people.

Shit, page 10. I don't suppose a new thread would be in order? I came late.
