Strange/creepy/leepest stuff in videogames
I've got one that hopefully someone can help me out on. I have never been able to successfully find any info via google on this. In Oblivion in The Shivering Isles in the dementia half of the city. Entering from outside the city, if you go to the left and walk to where there is a little sewer drain you can hear a song being plaid. It's made out of little water droplet noises. I have never found an explanation for this. Anybody know what I'm talking about
I am in your gratitude that at least one other person will know about it other than me.
You've heard it too? It was always so strange to me and I can't find anything on it. It plays in another place that I found but I don't remember where.
leepest like leepest dore
>Gordan Freeman normal sound
>Gordan Freeman backward
Well I loaded up my game, and it's there. If you want I can find a way to record it and I'll post it in the thread.
If I had to take a weird guess I'd say it has something to do with the sound of water just dripping driving people insane? There's also the water drip torture.
If you can make a recording of it then please do. As far as I know there are none online. Thanks a trillion, anon.
pretty morbid for a light hearted dating game
Pokemon always does that shit, but lately it's just been Hex Maniacs (Who look like Hot Topic rejects in in Gen VI) saying lespooky things and disappearing.
In Her Story whenever you get a new important clue a reflection image of the girl will appear on the screen. In the game you're a police officer looking at files on a computer.
It's literally you're a detective and you have to piece together the story of what crime occurred involving this woman by watching recordings of her talking about it. There's nothing SJW about it in even the slightest.
Two of the likes are me, OP. I liked it on the account I actually use, then made a channel to comment.
Shit I meant me... It's me OP. The one who did the two likes.
OP here. It's just something I thought was interesting that I never knew anyone else really payed attention to. It doesn't even play on the other side of the town so I thought it was really strange and I thought it could mean or indicate something. As that anon said it's probably to represent insanity from water which fits since I was looking for it and could find literally nothing.
The old chateau in D/P, which is an abandoned house that has ghosts haunting it, has an antidote hidden in a trashcan inside the kitchen. A bit creepy when you consider what that implies.
Anybody ever noticed the face on the second disc of Abe's Exoddus for PSX?
Look on the barrels. It's quite creepy.
But it makes the sound of dripping onto the ground, so I kind of thought more like the sound of water dripping all night could drive someone mad.
From water dropplets. Like if you're a room with nothing but the sound of dripping water or water torture or something I don't fucking know, man.
I just found it highly interesting that there was this little tune hidden away in this place where it doesn't make that much sense, it doesn't even play by the drains on the opposite side, and I could find nothing on it or anyone else thinking it was interesting.
That kinda reminds of the forest levels from DKC2.
P.S. Why must I go into these threads at 3 in the morning? /v/ has such good spooky threads and years of indulging in /x/ junk has made me paranoid. Aside from sleepiness, I'm thirsty.
>Play a fucking SWAT simulator.
>Still get spooked.
I mean I don't want to sound crazy but
I was watching water drop from my faucet one time when I was half asleep during one morning getting ready for school (I was in middle school at the time) and I started focusing really hard on the water. "Hyper focusing" I guess. And suddenly the water started dripping extremely slowly. I stepped out of the bathroom and my perception of time was slowed down. My sister was trying to talk to me and I couldn't understand what the fuck she was saying. I snapped out of it eventually though the same thing happened to my dad and my uncle when they were focusing on an object repeatedly moving.
Oh well, first time I found it it looked scary.
That was a lot of time ago though.
That and the mine bomb explosion in Munch's Oddysee on Xbox still scares the living shit out of me.
YOU GOTTA FINISH THAT SHIT NIGGER
I haven't bothered with reading all of the supplementary material past the "conclusion," particularly the letters between Johnny and his mother.
> You might have super powers.
When it happened I assumed I just had a panic attack because I have really bad anxiety. I tried to recreate it one time but I couldn't really capture the right feeling I had when I was looking at the water. Its hard to describe but when I was focusing on the water I felt weird as fuck. I could only hear the water and I wasn't thinking about anything. I sort of felt like I was in a dream.
A year later me and my dad were talking about out of body expeirenced for whatever reason and he said "You know the weirdest thing happened to me when I was younger.." and described the exact same thing that happened to me.
I don't think its super powers or anything crazy like that but I'm really curious on finding out what the fuck happened to me.
the fact that it's not listed on the list of animals and that it only shows up if you go deep enough innawoods (which you can do accidentally) is what does it
Carnivores 2: Ice Age
It's a hunting game where you hunt dinos.
turns out you're actually hunting on an alien planet and there's a level with abandoned ayy lmao ruins where you can hear the tortured screams of the indigenous people being killed by raptors
Carnivores 2 vanilla is the one with the ruins, ice age is the one where you hunt sabretooth tigers and woolies and shit
It's just so jarring. It hits you from the second you see it as just being wrong. Coupled with the RUN button that you don't know the purpose of, and the text it's fucking terrifying. They had to know what they were doing.
I was standing but I had my head down near the sink because I was tired as fuck. Thats when I just started focusing on the water.
I read up about that but that's not what I was experiencing. Everything was literally moving in slow motion like how you see in the movies. I was able to think at a normal speed but when I tried to move my body everything was really slow, but seemed a little faster then how everyone else was moving.
in gta5, there is a portrait of a ranger that seems to have kraff's mark. It can be found in the desert dart bar
Video uploader here.
Elder Scrolls is actually my favorite series, they actually care a lot for it, despite dumbing it a lot. The base worlds have been pretty lackluster the last two games, but they go all out with the expansions. SI, KotN, Dawnguard, and Dragonborn were all great.
Say what you will about it being a meme game
But considering this is basically just every one of those "and then the game turns grimdark and spooky" creepypastas, and it's actually in the game, is pretty spooky
> My only superpower is being super grouchy at the drop of a hat
I keked. Seriously though I've always wanted to figure out what the hell happened but I don't want people to think I'm insane.
I couldn't move at normal speed but I was thinking at normal speed. My movement seemed like it was slightly faster then everyone elses though, but very slightly. I didn't try talking because I was freaking the fuck out, but my sister was talking really slow.
I guess I'll try to recreate it for shits and giggles. If anything happens I'll start documenting this shit and see where it goes.
I also had some other weird experiences, nothing as wacky as that but idk if I want to talk about them because I feel crazy telling people even though we are all anonymous. I guess if anyones interested I'll explain but its sort of difficult to put some of this shit into words.
I love little RPG and Game Maker games because they can do whatever they want with your computer unlike a published game with restrictions.
There is nothing like the experience of having a character literally walk out of the window they're inhabiting, then the game locking up and you can never play it again.
>playing modern warfare 2 multiplayer a couple years back
>someone drops a nuke, match ends
>plays spooky red tinted cutscene of a guy sitting at a table then dropping dead in fast motion behind the scoreboard
>nobody else has apparently ever seen this
This isn't really a spooky story but like OP it's something I've never been able to find info on
I was playing Rayman on PS1 as a kid. I was in the first area on the map when a path into a cloud area appeared. I went up it but didn't start the cloud level and instead went back to the swamp area. When I started the swamp level my fists had gone and I couldn't find a way to get them back. Also the cloud path had disappeared from the map
Never been able to find an explanation, which makes me think I might have dreamt it or some shit. However I definitely deleted my save after I lost the fists which is the part that most makes me think it happened
Anyway can anyone provide an answer, it's been bugging me for years
I can't find it. But it exists. I think I saw articles about a year or two ago. Dungeon with a very precise requirement to open and nobody had cared enough to look in the files to see it so it was never widely known about. Somebody's gotta know. I think it was Final Fantasy.
Could be a glitch? I tried to look it up but I have never played it so I don't know. It sounds like a glitch though since his fists disappeared. You may be misremembering a part of it from age.
Alright I'll just explain some of this shit because I've never talked about it with anyone before but it doesn't really matter if I say it here because everyone's anonymous
> when I was 16 my mom explained a dream she had about me that literally predicted shit that happened to me later that day and the events changed my life for a while
> when I was 17 my mom explained to me another dream that predicted my week and those events were, again, life changing
> my mom has no recollection of ever telling me about any of these dreams, but I know for a fact that they happened because the second time she told me about them I wrote a note about it in my phone
> I started looking up different shit about the occult and mysticism and shit after that happened and learned about auras and the pineal gland and shit
> fucked around with trying to see my own aura and stuff, very doubtful about everything. I saw some different colors but figured it was an illusion
> the more I played around with it the more colors and shit i could see
> a few months later everyone I saw had "auras" and shit
Pretty sure I'm just insane desu senpai. After that shit started happened I stopped seeing stuff like that because I thought I was definitely freaking myself out and was imagining shit.
I never went to /x/ I just looked up shit online on my own. I never talked about any of this on 4chan though or anywhere else.
The auras were layered. So at one point every person I saw had a color around them, but if I focused in on a person I would see different colors on top of the first color.
I was never really able to figure out what any of it meant though because it seems like everyone has a different idea of what the aura colors mean.
I'm aware of this m8 thats why I think I'm crazy. I don't see people or hear things though.
I knew it was an anime or some shit but I googled it and laughed
basically the first time my friends left my and my dad almost died from a really rare illness. The second time I got a shit load of new friends that I'm still friends with today and desu I don't know where I'd be without them.
I know that feel, anon. I remember playing a game on my dad's computer when I was maybe 5 or so (I played a lot of point and click PC games at the time - Spy Fox, Pajama Sam, Jan Pienkowski's "Haunted House" and the like) and I remember playing a black and white point and click that revolved around finding keys. All I remember is a hallway that looked like pic related, with either a portrait or a bust of some nosferatu-looking nigga on the right side, and it would fly around the room if you clicked it.
The part I remember more distinctly is a bedroom with a super wide, FOV camera. The room is entirely empty apart from a bed, maybe a dresser or something, and upon entering the room, a shadow that slooooowly walks across the room, as if being projected from directly behind where he camera is located.
What fucks me up the most is that my dad doesn't remember anything about the game, and I went through every single point and click game on the "retro Mac archive" and couldn't find it. And the only "paranormal" occurrence I've ever experienced is seeing a super similar shadow walk across my basement (about 5 years after I would have played the game), and phasing through both sliding glass doors. The shadow had no source, and my family was asleep (I checked right after).
tl;dr: Played a mysterious game as a kid that featured shadow people (or just one), then saw a shadow person a few years later in a similar fashion. Maybe I dreamed up the game, but the experience in my basement was incredibly real, and my brother remembers me waking him up to tell him about it.
Man, /x/ nowadays gives me the vibe that I'm on an entirely different website. It's just so disconnected from the rest of 4chan and I think most of the userbase there hasn't been around for half a year.
after the second dream I almost died as well but it was because I tried to kill myself I met and started talking to people that later became my best friends before that happened though
You don't just think you are crazy, you are. The moment you start believing this crap is when you slowly turn into 'that guy' who's selling dream catchers on the street. I know a friend doing the same shit, lately he talks about how he 'sees' things, buts it's just to compensate for the fact that he's a dead end neet so he tries to be interesting. Word of advice, if any of that applies to you, start sorting yourself
People are only as crazy as they tell other people.
If they don't tell anybody in real life they're pretty sane. Anonymous imageboards don't necessarily count as social suicide.
There is no reason to believe this crap unless you're compensating for something. It's a minor god belief, there's no evidence for any of it but you believe because 'I just know'. Wake up
That's the thing though, my life is totally on track. I'm doing good in college, have a bunch of really good friends, have gf, I'm in shape, finally got a decent part time job so ill be able to get an apartment at some point in the near future.
And I know exactly what type of people you're talking about and I sure as fuck don't want to be like them
Just try doing that shit again and try to get hang of what colours mean what
At worst it will be waste of time
And if it works you will get nifty skill that will allow you to manipulate others to greater degree
That doesnt make auras any more real than leprechauns. Just saying, if you think this crap is real in any way, there will be a time where some fucks up for you in life and then maybe you'll think 'ooh well its because of auras mayn and my mother also dreamt it'. One year later you're wanking off with your crystal buddies to charge life energy
It's not a slippery slope, you just don't fucking tell people. If they're aware they're nuts the next logical step is to keep quiet, so long as the involved craziness isn't social in the first place.
It's a video game, everything is intentionally put there.
You're trying to find something that isn't there.
If it were music, it would have some pattern, chorus, or rhythm to it.
This is just random pitches ala Crazy Bus.
Take a minute and think about how lazy Bethesda is, including their actual easter eggs.
They wanted a constant dripping sound, so they took one sample, and randomly pitch shifted it and had it play at a regular interval.
It could very well be synesthesia. My friend has synesthesia, and he's a very talented musician partially because of it. He thinks about music in colors and shapes, and recently found a gf that does too, and they listen to music together and compare the colors they hear, which usually line up.
Also, I'm not really a drug user, but the one time I took mushrooms, I temporarily had synesthesia. I'm a shitty drummer normally, but I could play on-beat perfectly because I could "feel" it and sort of "see" the passing of time happen, and divide it evenly. Usually I think about music in pure theory terms, but I found myself playing a solo and an image of a blue triangle appeared in my head, so I just thought "yeah, blue triangle would sound good", and I just played it and it sounded really good. I wish I could remember exactly what I played, but it was something related to the dorian scale.
Anyway, my friend who has synesthesia all the time has also taken LSD about 10 times now (he's had synesthesia for years though, didn't try LSD until recently) and he now claims to be able to see people's auras.
I don't buy into hippie "third-eye" shit, or that drugs can make you smarter or whatever, but I believe that if you can hear pitches as colors, interpreting personalities as colors isn't farfetched. Especially considering that I had synesthesia on mushrooms, and my only friend who can see "auras", has tripped many times and is incredibly synesthetic.
I'd count that as old-/x/, desu. Anything before the current state that it's in.
I blame the sticky for making it seem like magick and the occult would be okay, and mods for never fucking touching it.
First of all I will have you know that wanking off with your buddies is a damn fine and acceptable medium to channel transient cosmic energy.
Second of all he's being perfectly level headed here. He's just perceiving some things outside of the normal realm of what people can. Exploring a new side of himself will surely lead to newfound enjoyment and self control.
I dislocated my knee once and got nitrous oxide in the hospital. The nurse turned away so I started huffing like mad, and saw sounds as colors on a pastel pink background, and now I always associate pastel pink with hospitals and vice versa. Synthesesia, even artificial, is bretty gud.
I doubt it was old /x/. There were already lots of troubling signs of what was to become, and /b/ raids or just some bored shitposter making up a fifth of the threads on the board happened almost daily, not to mention the infamous tripfags like Aeris. People were already complaining about /x/ had changed by then, anyway.
It does have pattern and rhythm. It is probably difficult to tell from that little clip but if you actually find it it's clearly a song and not random. It is also definitely the same sound pitch shifted but does that mean it can't be a song? If they wanted a dripping sound they'd get one, and they do have some already that they use. This isn't one.
I've seen the whole mystery of mt chilliad bullshit, and I've scanned the web for people mentioning weird sounds, but I still haven't heard anyone talking or capturing footage of random noise I heard while playing GTAO.
It was like someone was teleporting behind me. I was next to a mountain near the dam and alone during the night. I was just walking down the road and I heard it two times within a minute when I stopped walking. I continued walking and nothing, stopped later and heard it again with 4ish minutes of waiting. It sounded like a mountain alien zapping in and out of existence, or a ship going into hyperspeed. But the sound was all around, or just sort of "behind" me. No idea what caused it and haven't heard it since.
I'm not sure if this counts, but if you listen closely to the final boss of Half-life, he warns you that the Gman will 'deceive' you and calls you a thief.
One of the yellow crystals in the chamber is missing.
Another thing is that if by some chance auras and shit are real, I definitely don't think I'm the only faggot out there that can see shit like that. More likely than not I'm either crazy or all of this shit has just been illusions or coincidences. Or both.
Right now I genuinely don't believe any of this shit but I do wonder why or how some of this shit happens.
toppest kek. Seriously though I'm just saying at one point some freaky shit happened and I never talked about it with anyone before, so I sort of just wanted to put it out there.
pretty sure he was being sarcastic m8
I remember exploring the Chateau at like 3 AM under the covers and stumbling upon the disappearing NPCs; spooked me right good along with the trashcan antidote. Someone at Gamefreak was having a fun time.
> tfw you will never have a totally non homosexual orgy with your best bros to channel cosmic energy
L-look guis I said I didn't believe in any of this but this is starting to sound like something I can get into
His shenanigans allowed the Combine to invade Earth and enslave humanity.
I get that he was mad about his little crystal, but it's not like EVERYONE on the planet was guilty. Hell, most people in BM didn't even know what the Lambda complex was.
And I get that he was trying to escape Xen and by extension the Combine,
but did he really have to condemn billions of lives? He must've known they would fucking follow.
Or maybe he didn't, Half-life's story never made any sense anyway.
HL2 is mediocre, Ep 1is okay, Ep 2 is pretty good, and you get some backstory into Half Life 1 in it
Ravenholm is pretty much the worst part in HL2, if you can get through that you're fine
It's great. I want to try shrooms again for the temporary synesthesia and try to write down my findings, but the experience kind of fucked me up and I hated it for the most part. Mainly because it was impossible to play vidya under its influence because the TV screen was bubbling like lava in a 3D platformer or something.
Nihilanth didn't do shit
When the experiment with the crystal opened the portal to Xen, the Combine detected the portals
the vortigaunts weren't intentionally invading Black Mesa at first, just ending up there
Are there? I didn't know of any aliens existing minus what may or may not be inside the UFOs in the singleplayer campaign. Never knew of any Online.
As for the mystery of mt. chilliad, it refers to an ongoing quest to decipher some mural. There's an autismo reddit thing about it and everything. Check it
Everything with the fanbase is so well documented concerning things like this. I don't know whether I just can't google worth shit or if I heard some sound that no one else has triggered.
Drugs are pretty scary. I met Satan when I did DMT. It was pretty fucking amazing nonetheless, and I want to try it again, but the Prince of Darkness is sort of a moodkill desu.
Try a small dose maybe? Wait an hour, and if it's not enough, do more? That should ease you into it, so it doesn't fuck you up too much.
>ha ha I've seen the cover for this shovelware shit on /v/, let's click the video and
>the sky is on fire
>oh my god there's blood everywhere
This actually sounds very possible to me. Associating different emotions with colors might be why people think they see auras in the first place, because if it wasn't "true" to some extent people wouldn't buy into it. I also have never taken any hallucinogens, but I smoked weed pretty much every weekend for a year when I was 15 but it started making me feel paranoid so I stopped.
Might have to do that, perhaps you're right
There used to be an old indiana jones with these blocks in a temple that played a tone when pressed to solve a puzzle.
If you used to stones to play the tune from Close Encounters of the 3rd Kind you unlocked a secret room full of ayylmao stuff. Was pretty neat, I think it had some weird stuff but I don't remember
> fuck this shit I'm not reading this whole thing at 5AM
> maybe I've already seen this one before
> skim along and see "happy mommy"
Fuck you man I tried to forget this shit
Actually, I think it was a demo for Uninvited. There's a bust on the right side of a main hall, and there's an animation of a bat flying around over a kitchen table, and babby me could have easily confused them for the same room.
I couldn't find anything related to the shadow person I remember seeing, but I do remember it being a woman and maybe screaming, and right before you enter the bedroom, there's a woman who you only see the back off, and she screams when you defeat her (she was a skellington/ghost all along).
I guess I was wrong about the game, and combined it with my actual shadow person experience. I feel dumb now.
Need for Speed 3, Empire City bonus track. You spend the whole game doing normal car stuff in small towns, racetracks, mountains, etc and then you unlock the extra level and it's pretty much this dreary, gothic-industrial Hell with cyborg cops and skeleton-headed angel statues. Not what I was expecting playing it being young and impressionable, at least.
Unfortunately they somewhat ruined the atmosphere in the PC port so it isn't quite as dark, but I don't have screenshots of that offhand.
The first time I fought this guy I thought it was absolutely insane for someone to put that into a video game. Then I fought the true final boss and found out only Andross had the brains to rule Lylatt. It didn't sit well with me.
I've always been really interested by hidden ayylmao stuff in games.
>that UFO on the Merqury City track in SSX Tricky that floats above a tall building through a secret alleyway shortcut, and teleports you to a different part of the track if you can fly into its tractor beam
>the alien on the Roswell level in THPS, looking at you through the glass if you get inside the facility
>if you throw dynamite into an outhouse toilet in Outlaws, you'll see pic related before an alien pops up in front of the window and shuts it.
When you're really tired and just woke up, depending on certain factors you can have what is basically a trip. I once had the most fucking insane morning after I stayed up late with my then-girlfriend at the hospital then woke up right when I was about to start dreaming. I was awake, and able to function, but I was seeing visions of a creature like Xavier Renegade Angel and he was speaking in riddles that I could understand at the time and anything I looked at he was go and turn it into dots and pick them up. This went on for probably 10 or 15 minutes. I really can't describe how surreal it was.
Something similar might have happened to you, or something completely different. The mind and the body are pretty weird.
LSD The Dream Emulator. Gooood game. Basically a 3D Yume Nikki.
The Grey Man will find you.
Does anybody remember that easter egg on the Carnival level in THPS4?
One of the rails on the front porch of the haunted house in the Carnival level leads straight into the wall, and if you grind it into the wall your skater gets teleported into a creepy abyss, and you're suddenly skating on a giant evil clown's tongue. The music instantly cuts out and gets replaced with a demonic laugh. The game pretty much turns into a bad trip until you exit by going into the clown's mouth and getting dropped off in front of the haunted house like nothing ever happened.
The THPS games had a look of spooky shit in general, like the Roswell alien in THPS1, Skater Heaven from THPS2 in general (going back and thinking about it, it was fucking creepy), and the haunted house from THPS3 with all the spooky floating objects. Also, the house was inaccessible by the front door, and a pair of red eyes would peer out at you through the blackness when your back was turned, but if you managed to be quick enough to jump in before the door shut completely, you'd just fall through blackness for a few seconds and hear an evil laugh or something.
Also, the fact that to get into the haunted house, you need to do a quest for someone named "the Thin Man" sends shivers down my spine.
Weirdedt vidya related spook was in gex for ps1. Me and my friend found a human enemy in that maze level near the end after dicking around for a while. It didn't do anything except puke on the ground repeatedly. Could never find him again and didn't see any info online. Maybe not that spooky but it freaked me out a little
Don't encourage someone that obviously has some form of psychosis to go to /x/, faggot. That is the fucking worst thing for him. It's just a bunch of schizos stroking themselves off to the attention they get from each other.
I believe it, there is weirder shit happening in the world than this.
I mean this story is more fucked up and it actually happened: https://ripeace.wordpress.com/2012/09/14/the-murder-of-junko-furuta-44-days-of-hell/
>The four boys beat her mutilated body with an iron barbell, using a loss at the game of Mah-jongg as a pretext. She is profusely bleeding from her mouth and nose.
> It's just a bunch of schizos stroking themselves off to the attention they get from each other.
You do realize /x/ is a roleplaying board, right?
And everybody except a few idiots and lunatics know this?
I got up to the chapter where the old fart goes off on a tangent about mermaids and got stalled. Some parts of the book are really hard to get through for the wrong reasons.
>I met Satan on DMT
Allowing yourself to think that sentence instead of "I thought I met Satan on DMT" is going to hurt you in all sorts of ways, dude. Even if you know that's what you meant, don't let yourself get confused.
I don't know what to think of this and the Chilliad cablecar station drawing.
Is it Rockstar trying too hard to create some sort of "lore", or does it really leads to something?
Anyone remember that one game on a really unstable version of the Build Engine, Cinema or Theater or something? I remember I like the eye popping minigame (as fun as it was fucking gross), but boy did it crash a lot. The guy at the entrance also had his face kinda twist and shit, it looked like those shifty PS1 textures, very spooky. Kid's game my ass.
Ive known about this for years but never knew where to post about it. I have a version 2 release of pokemon leafgreen and when i use a gameshark and apply the cheats for the version 1 release, nearly every music piece and sound effect changes in pitch. Instruments in town themes are sometimes missing, it makes it sound like a whole different game. Not really a scary or creepy detail, but it always made me suspicious when i was little.
Remember that enemy in half-life 2 episode 2 that would throw those leech things at you? It scared the shit out of me hearing that really weird, casual laugh it made as if they forgot to stop recording
THUG had a similar thing in Hawaii, except it was jumping into a tiki idol's mouth. Neversoft did hide all sorts of that type of shit in their games; I kind of want to go back and play all the THPS games now to see how they hold up and what I missed. I distinctly remember the floating objects in the haunted house, or at least what I could see of them with my PS2 hooked up to a fuzzy 15" CRT.
>THUG 2 New Orleans zombies
Someone in the house- presumably either the little girl or the butler who you see phase through the walls- was badly poisoned and whoever did it intentionally threw out the antidote.
Holy fuck I want to replay these games now.
What's the best way to do it? Probably PS1 emulation for THPS1 and 2, but do the later games have good PC ports? If not, should I emulate the PS2 versions for 'authenticity' or the Gamecube versions for better graphics and framerate?
A few things. The fact that it's just a skatepark floating on a rock in the depths of space (or the actual afterlife if it's actually "skater heaven"). God speaks to you and refers to you as "my son" or something like that, and the general geometry of the level, as well its atmosphere and sparse, unnatural foliage could only be described as "surreal". It comes across as incredibly ambivalent, which is what unsettles me - it's that "unknowing" feeling. The moon was also looming above you, and the poor draw distance made you really feel like you were up in space somewhere.
PS1 or Dreamcast emulation is good for 1 and 2. I actually have no idea about any of the PC ports, but 3 and 4 should emulate perfectly fine in Dolphin or PCSX2 (more likely Dolphin)
>Needing to qualify something as a game is stupid.
/v/ - Video Games
You're not a detective, butthis. Give yourself 1-2 hours of uninterrupted free time, a nice hot mug of tea/coffee, some pen and paper, and dive into it. It's a really fun immersive experience to spend an afternoon on. Highly recommended.
Do it, it's great. First game in the series to add triple-tap tricks, reverts, and so on (although in THPS2 you don't actually need reverts- it's possible to tap into a manual at the exact moment you land on a ramp and continue your combo, I figured that out and did it all the time as a kid). I own both and even now don't even know why I have the PS1 version- it's pretty acceptable, though, they did what they could with the hardware. Neversoft or whoever did the PS1 version was pretty good at that- same for the last PS1 NFS games, back when Electronic Arts gave a shit.
I've got Demul downloaded, but never used it for anything other than arcade games; guess I could try that or stick with PS1 emulation that I'm more familiar with and then Dolphin for THPS3 and 4 (although the PS2 version of 3 has all those sweet hidden characters like DOOMGUY). Wish I had a 'cube to USB controller adapter, that's for sure.
I'm at a loss here. Is this supposed to be like that image of the guy eating a donut?
The Super Mario Galaxy games have some spooky skyboxes
>tfw you didn't fall for this
Don't open this, it will steal your credit card infos and buy ten copies of Fallout 4
Can anyone remember a spooky level in a Die Hard game? I've never found an answer for this but, I remember that there was a driving mission and you had to either escape or drive to the bomb in a certain time limit but if you fail the time it explodes. However, with a certain code you live through the explosion and you just see dead bodies and floating grotesque heads.
Anyone know about this?
Yep, that was lostboy. I think he also snapped a few pics of his victims taken via their infected computers' webcams and posted them.
Here's an archived /g/ thread from right around the time /v/ was having a collective meltdown over all of this.
I emulated this but the grey man never scared me. Initially I ran towards him a few times because I thought he did something good.
But nah hes just a dick that somehow hinders your progress while not being all that spooky.
I remember the initial thread before this. I cant remember if it was on /x/ or /v/ first but the thread talked about how it would be cool to install a pseudo virus that full on jumpscares you at a random set time. It could be within the day of installing or months from then. Some guy said he would get to work on coding it and then later some anon posted lostboy and tricked alot of dumbass anons out of their credit card info.
There is this in the opening mission.
This is an image board. If we had threads of that shit day by day, repeating the same memes and discussing what it's like to fuck a goat, then the freaks will come pouring in and think they're in good company.
I think most people here played it once, and that's it.
Maybe someone can help me out
In one of the earlier WW2-era CoDs (Or maybe it was Medal of Honor), there was an easter egg room. It was some kind of haunted german nursery or playroom hidden underground.
I'm having trouble finding anything relating to it though.
Reading this puts me in a state of panic, and it's not like I'd ever run an .exe from 4chan.
Still, is there anything I can do to prevent this from happening in general? I have saved passwords and I'm always paranoid about keyloggers or botnets or something. I don't download things much, if ever, so i'm safe, right? RIGHT?
I know a lot of people complain about this boss being easy, but it's still really fucking spooky. I mean, It just comes out of absolutely nowhere; the entire game is full of completely regular looking black and white sprites; then, all of a sudden, you have this massive photo-realistic monster that fills your screen and completely bombards you with shit. Honestly, it kinda makes the other two final bosses less exciting; the True Pacifist ending is just Asriel, who isn't terribly unique neither visually or battle-wise. Not to mention it's ACTUALLY impossible to die during the battle, and you get free infinite healing items/damage ups. Like, I get that they didn't want you to die because it wouldn't be fitting to crash the game after every death and taking you out of the battle would ruin the flow, but there must've been a better way than handing you the fight and turning it into a big cutscene more than anything else. Then there's the Genocide mode ending, which was EXTREMELY disappointing. Like, the Sans fight was cool and all, and it really went beyond the difficulty of any fight in the entire game, but then the ending's just "you kill everything then a palette swap of you you've only vaguely heard of until now kills you". It's like something out of a poorly written creepypasta; granted, that's kinda what they did with Omega Flowey, but Omega Flowey was actually intimidating while Chara just kinda copies Uboa's face/scream and waddles at the screen and closes the window.
I'm glad I managed to remain relatively spoiler-free despite only buying the game at the end of the winter sale.
The only thing I knew about omega flowey was the face on the TV which people sometimes cropped.
I didn't believe it at first, but if you watch the video you can clearly see 2-3 framed photographs of what is an actual child.
Apparently the kid dies of SIDS, and was forever immortalized with a floating candle/creepy nursery/ghost child in a crib room in Call of Duty.
Odd world we live in.
These are the kinds of easter eggs I love; spooky shit in games where you'd never expect them. Like, it's not even very hard to find; if you were wandering around the end of the level (there's usually stuff hidden past the flag-pole, so it's not out of the question for someone to be wandering around out there for 30 seconds), you'd definitely see it. It makes me wonder if Nintendo was aware of this and kept it in.
Thank the lord and all his lovely children. Thanks anon
Now just gotta get over this shit
>the bear is adorable
Why is this making me so sad/scared?
It's like how an author writes and writes and writes so that you become immersed in this world they created. Then one sentence in the middle of one paragraph in the center of the book just says
>are you enjoying my novel?
Ive played guitar a long time and ive always seen music and notes in shapes and colours.
I had no idea this was a thing.
How is it a problem? I dont even use it in anyway, or atleast not conciously, i just see certain stuff and im like, that looks cool.
Im pretty sure literally everyone has/does this to some degree. We all combine sounds or other input into images in our head to some degree.
This thing's value was originally 666 pikos and if you stare at it long enough it'll eventually blink.
I played mario 64 once and I remember getting mario to a corner of the snow map, before the camera twitched crazily and something odd began to happen. My vision somehow focused in on the screen and I found Mario's model--the art design and entite aesthetic of his face to be uneasing. I cant explain it, but when I see his face mid-animation where hes staring face front (as opposed to his head turned to the side) I get a disturbing odd feeling. A mix of nostalgia, repulsion, trauma and simply the word "mexico" come to mind in an immediate surge. Anyway, so suddenly the trumpets of the song began to get louder. I remember the sound being so surreal because it was just the trumpets that felt like they began to seep from the tv. Soon it was around my ears enveloping me, and the entire sounder of the game became louder exponentially. At this point my body kicked into emergency mode. My heart began beating with a speed ive never felt. My ears were exploding; I thought I was surely going deaf, and that people experience hypersensitive hearing right before they lose their hearing. I then picked up on all sounds in the house, and everything was completely overbearing. A shower being on. The sound of me bringing a blanklet to my chest and the very friction being too loud. The fucking neighbor shutting his goddamn car. I could hear it all and it hurt to an extreme degree. I paced in and out from my house, trying to ease my breath, but outside the birds chirping was too much.
This stayed for about an hour, before happening once more some other day. The first episode resulted in permanent tinnitus which I can hear even right now. Doctors have no clue, and said it could be a million things.
I literally can't play the snow level without feeling uneasy ever again. I can ignore mario's face unless I intentionally try to make myself nauseous, but I can't handle the music on the snow level.
meme game or not this legitimately scared me
I'm sorry, but that made me laugh
I'm not an expert, so take this as you will, but sometimes when I get a particularly bad anxiety attack time slows to a halt, all sound becomes too much, as you described, and the throbbing of my heart is the only real connection I have to sanity. Sounds edgy, I know, but I can't explain it any better. It's like my heart acting as a metronome is the only thing that's stopping me from losing all sanity. It's fucked. It's actually quite similar to that scene in Futurama where Fry drinks too much coffee, except it's not euphoric, it's terrifying.
The human mind is a strange thing. I wonder why such trivial stimuli had such a major effect on you. The only explanation I can offer is extreme anxiety, but it seems like your case might even be deeper than that.
Does anyone have the webm of the forest Memoryheads?
If you walk up against the trees in the first area outside of the ruins you'll see a screen of them for a second before they dissipate.
The random screams from On A Rails in HL1
Spoopy Ambient noises in HL2
Nah, I find it funny too. But there's no doubt that my mind finds something mexico-like in that frame.
I definitely felt that sense of time distortion somehow. Like my body was lagging behind the actual events. It was during the camera trickery and the right before the music started becoming hell on earth.
From there on I feel the reliance on one's heart to stay sane is just a survival thing that forces you to be aware of your heart. In the moment it is fucking scary though. At that moment I was ready to accept a heart attack and certain death. Did you find your attacks to be less physical and more psychological perhaps?
Dunno about anxiety. I mean, I have it now after the fact. But before it happened I was in perfect mental health. I love mario, and mostly all his games. I never found his frame specific face frightening until I focused in on it--never minded at all as a kid. It's not like I have traumatic experiences from my childhood either, especially related to mario (or mexico). It just came right out of fucking nowhere and it ticks me off.
In the level before him, there's a small area full of floating platforms and the huge shrine portal thing that takes you to the Nihilanth bossfight.
If you stay in that area, you can hear the voices of the scientists usually from before the Cascade. I've heard it say shit like "waiting for you in the test chamber" and "get away from the field" sadly no
Why must we wear these ridiculous ties?
Auras are actually most commonly found from HPPD and dumb forest hippies convincing each other magic exists and flows through everything.
I can tell you this from experience, some of my friends became dumb forest hippies and did a bunch of acid.
This fucking reminds me.
None of you will believe me, but I can confirm on both the Xbox and PC versions of Chaos Theory, if you listen to the ambient track of the Spies vs Mercs map on the level with train and the forklift in the center, you will hearing something that sounds just like toad's voice clip in mk64. The one where he hits you with a shell and he goes "YEAH-Huhhuhhuhhahhah!!"
In CT, it cuts off at YEAHhu- but it sounds just like it. Never told this to anyone.
Also I remember some lone spy trying to show me a manequin and cloth move suddenly on the orphanage mansion map, but he couldn't make it happen. Since he tried though, I realized how unsettling that map really is.
This game was intense when i was young and retarded. Also too difficult for my casual self to complete. I spoiled the ending for myself recently and couldn't believe what the fuck I was reading.
Let's say for miles out in a spooky forest out in the middle of nowhere in the night, there's a shanty worn down home surrounded by thick trees with some windows all around.
Is it spookier to be in the forest, and looking up at a bunch of windows with potential eyes staring down at you in the pitch black interiors of the house
Or is it spookier to be in the dark house, with barely anything to look at outside, completely surrounded by trees in the dark and several windows?
How incredibly bizarre.
Well, my body constantly exhibits the classic physical signs of panic - my palms are sweaty
mom's spaghetti, my heart races, etc etc, so I'd say so. If I feel the physical effects to during an attack its definitely significant. Does that even make sense?
That's totally strange, and you've ruled out all the obvious explanations. Maybe it's just the polys, 90s VHSs and old vidya always give me an unexplained creepy vibe on a quite primal level. There's just something very wrong about it, I suppose.
Speaking of Pikmin 2, the Water Wraith was fucking terrifying. The hallways are so long and tight, and the music doesn't help.
Not to mention it's impossible to kill up until you get to the final floor. Also, there's just something about the way it runs and flails when it loses its wheels that's really disturbing.
Then there's all the weird, unrequired, out of the way bosses in Pikmin 1, but that's another story.
Ecco is one of the most unintentionally scary IPs out there.
Ever play the 3D version, Defender of the Future?
Final boss is timed and takes place inside the heart of an alien. If you don't destroy its heart fast enough, acids in its stomach will kill you.
Banjo tooie had some deeper connection to hell in witchyworld than what I replayed on xbox. I need to dig out my cartridge, but I remember it being unsettling. Some sign, or face or something
This is, without a doubt, one of the most horrifying vidya related thing dive ever seen.
Did anyone else know about this shit? I was always really creeped by that menu anyway
> 1am and my computer faces right outside
I ain't readin that shit nigga, saved for tomorrow to read during the day
I'm the type of person who feels uneasy from just THINKING about skinwalkers
I'd rather not risk it
To be more specific it's not the sort of spooky where you feel threatened, like "___________ could be outside my bedroom window right now, I better keep those blinds closed" but the sort of spooky where the more and more you think about the circumstances and what was allegedly happening the creepier it gets.
The little girl on the right only appears for two frames, one in the screenshot there and another being next to you.
Also the camera in that intro moves in a way it could be her perspective.
If you play normally chances are you won't notice.
It seems silly to think, but maybe that'll be expanded upon eventually. I mean, the noises are really loud and blatant, I feel like they wouldn't just be in the game for shits and giggles.
>lurk this thread
>suddenly phone rings
>pick it up and say hello
>no one answers, there's just weird music in the background
>wait to see if it's a pre-registered advertisement
>just that weird music
Which of you fucks did this?
Best horror level in a non horror game? I have two in the same game, Temple of Xian and Floating islands in tomb raider 2. Listen to this fucking BGM for floating islands jesus fuck this shit gave me the spoops so bad.
this whole faction was spooky as fuck. I knew I was in for some shit every time I found a dungeon with red candles in it.
try casting Calm spells on house dagoth enemies and then talking to them
Mind telling me what the hell this is?
It's still my favorite game of all time, so I'd say yes.
It was years ahead of its time in terms of sound design, and AI (though the pathfinding is a little wonky, npc's will run and find help when damaged, run toward alarms and set them off, etc). Play on expert and don't forget to get newdark.
I wouldn't bother with most texture packs or anything, they make the game look like ass honestly (though the canon texture pack on ttlg is pretty okay - just unfinished).
All in all a great game.
Yeah I remember that.
They only make that laugh sound when they die because it's supposed to be them happy to finally be put out of their misery.
I think the poison zombies have the most fucked up sounds out of all the zombie types.
Please don't tell me this is true :(
I know this game is supposed to be cheery and dreamlike but the backgrounds always scared me and made felt uneasy. A lot of early 3d games give me this effect but its most prominent on sega saturn 3D games. Panzer dragoon is another game that creeps the fuck out of me because of its look
Not to mention the music throughout the whole dungeon leading up to the fight.
Listening to this and having to traverse those narrow paths all while knowing that invincible killing machine could drop in at any moment, literally made me stressed as fuck.
The default controls are weird but it's 20 seconds to rebind them. Aside from that, if you don't mind blocky late-90's graphics and enjoy mazelike levels, it's great. Install TFix for the first game and tafferpatcher for the second one and take >>323047976 's advice and don't bother with graphics mods.
In World of Warcraft there are a lot of ambient sounds in a lot of places, but Undercity replaying the scene where Arthas kills Terenas with ghostly voice effects was always pretty spoopy to me.
Also, I'm Naxxarammas as long as Thaddeus is alive you could always hear people screaming for help and asking to be killed.
tfw I missed the creepy thread
Anyway, you guys all need to come to /x/. We need posters like you to help bring it back to its glory days. Creepy video game threads are and have always been allowed.
in GTA5, the sun's appearance is different for each of the characters
