Literally what the fuck is the point of buying a 3DS when there's the 2DS
>no eyestabbing 3D option
>same power output as a 3DS
What the fuck is the point of the 3DS?
I have enough money
I take care of my stuff
>no eyestabbing 3D option
I like the 3D
>same power output as a 3DS
If I wanted something powerful I wouldn't have bought a 3DS at all
In short: All the advantages of 2DS are irrelevant for me.
What is the point of the 2DS?
N3DSXL is literally double the price. And for what? A slightly better processor and two new buttons? 2DS is the most cost-effective option and if you want to buy a N3DSXL over one you're retarded and wasting your money.
The big problem with N3DS is there are few games that take advantage of the hardware. Unless you want to play a crappy port of Xenoblade, or must have a second stick for Monster Hunter, there is little point in owning it.
Personally, I love the clamshell design and the bigger screens of the 3ds XL. Also, my buddy got a N3DS XL and it has a better top screen than the other versions of the system.
Well, first off the 2DS was a response to the segment of the market that didn't want the 3D of the 3DS or didn't care enough about it to pay for it. So it was pretty much reactionary to how the 3D was received. It's not like the 2DS was always out.
Benefits of the 3DS include...
>The 3D (if you're into that)
>A more portable build.
I'm just saying that you probably have more money to dump because you're most likely mooching off your parents. Don't deny you're one because we all know people with actual well paying jobs don't come here.
>we just travel a lot
My point still stands, it slides into my coat pocket with ease. It's plenty portable. And without the clamshell, you don't have a chance of accidentally snapping it in half.
I actually prefer the 2DS. I hated 3D for anything other than cutscenes, and I like how the 2DS's general construction is made for human hands and not weird Japanese omnidirectional spindles attached to wrists.
>Don't deny you're one because we all know people with actual well paying jobs don't come here
I don't have a well-paying job. I just spend wisely so that I can splash on the things I like with whatever's left of my wage and student loan (I don't live in America, so I don't necessarily have to repay it either).
I eat boring stuff, dress pretty basically and only go out about once a month so that I can splash on the things I like. In my case, it's games and tech.
Learn to be wise with cash and you too can not have to settle for a 2DS ;)
>tfw got a N3DSXL for $100 bux
base K-Mart liquidating sales just for me
3D effect still hurts my damn eyes. Do any games even use it well?
The screens of the XL are still bigger and it has better battery life. Also, you won't have to worry about scratching the screens if you throw it in your suitcase, backpack or whatever.
>learn to be wise with cash
Well, I am. I just don't commonly spend it on consoles. The only reason I got the 2DS is to play 3DS games because my DSi was boring and none of the new games were compatible. I make about 50k a year and I spend it on stuff like good food, a nice place to live, and on my computer and gaming shit. I also don't have debt because I didn't go to university. Only reason I have my 2DS is to play the new Pokémon games, as I played them on a friend's 3DS and I got addicted. And I honestly probably could drop the money on a 3DS, but why do that when I can take the frugle, cost-effective route? I'm the kind of guy that likes my stuff to do the stuff that its intended for, and I don't need the extra amenities. It's why I drive a 1991 Volvo hatchback ffs. It may not be fancy, but it runs well and it's cheap.
was around before 2ds
has 3d option
screen can be closed
if you dont mind it being that big and if you are not interested in 3d there is nothing wrong with it. I personally like the 3d and being able to fully close it. Then again i bought it before the 2ds was announced and i dont know if i would buy a 3ds over a 2ds now.
>3D effect still hurts my damn eyes
You gotta distance the portable from your face, the more farther it is, the more easy on the eyes the 3D is, you gotta distance it and slowly bring it back closer 'till you find your "sweet" point. Do NOT try to play it really close as you are used to with other portables, you'll only strain your eyes.
>better battery life
I'm pretty satisfied. That must have a pretty fucking long battery life, my 2DS lasts like a good 6+ hours.
>scratching the screen
There's a thing called $2 screen protectors.
>it won't get any good limited edition bundles
That's what the 3DS is made out of too, m80
Has the 3DS had more iterations than the DS at this point?
>all these "upgrades" and sidegrades
>still half the sales
You can unlock the N3DS second core with just a homebrew launcher which can really make a difference for games like Pokemon and MGS.
You don't need to buy a wieldy, expensive periphelial if you want to use a second stick.
Also, some games literally look better on N3DS than the standard one. Pic related for the most well known example.
Not everyone has huge as fuck coat pockets or want to put shit in their huge as fuck coat pockets. Screen protectors wont do shit when you accidentally drop it and it lands face down on concrete. There's literally no reason to use a 2ds over 3ds unless you seriously need the extended battery life. Not to mention even design-wise it's ass.
had a 2DS once
pretty comfy, and I preferred the console like buttons and dpad over the 3DS' clicky ones
i eventually sold it and got a regular 3DS because it had compatibility issues with Gateway
Literally what the fuck is the point of buying a 2DS when there's the 3DS
>half the size, so it fits easier into your pockets
>can be folded, so the screens get no scratches
>FUCKING 3D OPTION
>same power output as a 2DS
What the fuck is the point of the 2DS?
>not everybody has huge as fuck coat pockets or wants to put their shit in their coat pockets
Here's the thing though, my coat isn't huge, nor are my coat pockets. Plus if they don't want it in their coat then why does it even matter?
>drop it and it lands face down on the concrete
A: I don't play my 2DS in public
B: The screens are plastic, anon
>Design-wise it's ass
That's where you're wrong. The DS is a lot more clunky I people's hands, as it doesn't really fit. Meanwhile the 2DS is literally built for your hands.
Mostly because the screen is garbage and the buttons are extremely poor quality; far more mushy than my N3DSxl
Also it's more impractical to carry around, and as someone who actually uses the portability it just wouldn't work out
Why not just spend the money you'd need for a 2DS and buy a refurbished 3DS instead? Much better deal
It's on its last leg so I'd hold out until the next one rolls out in the next year or so. There aren't all that many must plays so you might as well wait and get one of those 4 for 20 clearance deals.
I have the white and sea green one, it's really nice and I can't go back to a normal 3DS.
Only advantage I see with 3DS is it can fit in your pocket, or with N3DS it's more powerful, but I only play JRPGs anyway, so it doesn't really matter.
