it's been over 10 years since i play it
maybe it's time for another playthrough
i remember i loved how they used sprites for characters and 3d for environment
shame about bof6 though
Why don't they that kind of artstyle instead of shitty 3d for handheld jrpgs?
Suikoden 2 was pretty good
I'm still buttmad.
I could never get over the fact that the games got downgraded on the pantsless catgirls factor.
>what was the powerchart for those again?
>should I play them by release date?
Maybe, 1 is pretty short and having a save with the 108 stars unlock some bonus in 2. 3 and 4 are often considered the weakest so even if you don't like them and liked the first two you should consider playing 5.
If you liked 4 there's a sequel named Suikoden Tactics
If you find 3 tedious there's a manga that's pretty good
If you liked 2 there's 2 visual novel taking place during the events of the game featuring different characters that were fan translated
I wouldn't bother with the ds/psp title though
>That feel when you couldn't disagree with Fou-Lu and got bad end
>Wasn't even trying to be edgy
He was pretty much right. I mean, you sort of had to not be roleplaying at all and just wanna "beat the game" to get different answers. The guy sold me.
One of your party members was engaged to her and trying to find her for 85% of the game. You find her at last and the badguys used her cause she's magical or noble or some bullcrap and turned her into the headpiece of a giant organic-heart thing for a huge dungeon thats some sort of living organic dungeon. The bed is covering up the fatass heart she's connected to. She begs your party member to be the one to end her suffering. You all leave the room and he tells her he loves her, then you hear a sound. Then he comes out looking sad.
Mami's fate is even fucking worse.
At least Elina died in relative peace from the hands of the man she loved.
Mami was tortured horrifically then used to nuke the man she loved.
"When he came out he said nothing to us"
"I knew then I would never see my sister again"
>member of military tortures the entire village then executes all of them
>everyone who lived in said village looked like kids
>that moment when wild animal bashed its own head open trying to clear the way for Fou-lu
>western government being a bunch of pussies sacrificing the members of their own alliance just to avoid getting molested by eastern hex dicks again
>those implications that Nina was raped by a jew frog while everyone else were on a mission for him
Holy shit BoF4.
>2 had the best Nina
this is objectively true
3 is the most overrated game in series with hilarious amount of filler instead of actual storytelling, piss easy difficulty and very small game world.
2 is overrated as well even though i love 2's Nina. Hate that furryshit horror Katt though.
5 is the most unique and atmospheric game in series but quite repetitive.
4 is overall the best, has the best storytelling, cast of characters and combat system.
Was too bored to even finish 1 though.
Dragon system is the only thing 3 has going for it at the cost of all other party members being boring. 4 has excellent combo system which allows all party members to work in synergy, plus the fact that entire party participates in battle is great. You can move Nina to back row to regen mana when she can't cast anymore and she will passively heal you, Ershin will sometimes support you from back row with rocket punches.
And it's not like dragons in 4 are bad, they have some cool attacks and combo possibilities as dragon magic triggers the highest combo magic.
I played that when I was younger and I don't remember SHIT about this.
Clue me the fuck in
If you leave Momo with the horse dudes during the tournament in the child section, walk up to the cage and talk to her.
She'll say stuff like, "They said they'll ******* me and then *******. Do you know what ****** means?"
Of course, it's never shown if she gets raped, but they clearly intend to at least threaten her with the prospect. You could easily say she wasn't raped, however, since Momo doesn't act at all like anything happened during her imprisonment. Doesn't even mention it.
Very well could be. It's actually more likely that rape did not occur, in my mind, specifically because Momo acts like nothing happened, and if there was rape, if seems like they would want to play it up for drama. Just putting it in subtly like that with no one ever acknowledging it seems kind of odd.
It's worth mentioning, though, that Momo is still a child at the time, and likely has no concept of what sex is. She's incredibly smart, too. AND, the horse brothers are clearly horribly people, flat out running Ryu through with a sword while he wasn't looking when Ryu was like 7 years old or some shit.
>localization team removed the scene of Soniel's beheading
>game ended up even creepier because you don't know in what way he died and given Fou-lu's condition he could torture faggot emperor for hours before allowing him to die
>they also removed the scene with ryu peeking on the girls in the bath and ursula dropping her pants
The empire in IV is closer to WWII Japan in terms of ideology and militarism, actually. Horrible war crimes, conflict with West, Yuna being a director of a structure that resembles Unit 731, etc.
Man, that's fucked. Even moreso because you pretty much did the same thing in BoF1 and nobody cared.
>watch it again to see if it's as sad as I remember
>it's even sadder
yeah, some other anon explained it to me that if I seeked out punishment for his actions I'd be no different than Fou Lu or something like that
BoF4 is pretty good in those details
yeah, Old Capcom had a gift for making good games
Don't forget how on the way up you climbed a disgusting looking, inner organs dungeon and you were thinking "what the fuck, this is vomit-inducing". And you cut blood vessels and cartilagues to pass through. Then you reach her and what you described gets explained. And the worst part is that she's in constant pain yet immortal, the only possible thing that can kill her is Ryu's sword, the Dragonslayer. So he gives it to Cray (the fiancee guy) for a mercy kill. He kills her because she begged.
Remember the Carronade was most effective by using people the target loved or cared for. That's why they always first kidnapped loved ones from the inhabitants of the city they were targetting, prepare them by torturing them in the most horrific ways, then use them as sacrifice to power the cannon.
I was talking about gameplay. Garr is worst fucking party member, and even though Rei and Momo are the best they are still pretty boring with the exception of tiger transform.
>Composer(s): Hitoshi Sakimoto, Chihiro Onitsuka
JESUS FUCK WHAT?
This explains why its OST was so good and familiar for some reason.
Suikoden 2 has fucking amazing spritework.
Not sure. Can't find official ages either.
Anyway, the time-skip is somewhere between 5 and 10 years, I'd say. Ryu goes from a child to a teenager, possibly a young adult. I always figured he was 7 or 8 in the child section, and 17 or 18 in part 2.
BoF4's art style was sadly marred by 3D levels which got in the way of clunky 90 degrees camera rotation.
Jesus Christ dude, where you've been? Even the plus version of it came out months ago.
I CAME HERE ALL THE WAY FROM HELL TO POST THIS AND TAKE THAT FUCKER WITH ME ON THE TRIP BACK
HERE I WELCOME YOU TO ETERNAL TORMENT PIECE OF SHIT
that scene would have been better if it offered any sense of attachment to the main character, or at least tried to give the player a reason why they should really care aside from "she was put through this shit so clearly the thing you should be feeling is a little sad"
>look how mature and rugged i am being completely unfazed by fictional characters struggles!
Thanks for reminding me that this franchise is trapped within Capcom's blobby mass, along with Demon's Crest and DMC.
>tfw they burped up part of Megaman's body and Nintendo held a funeral for him
She can be so moe sometimes~
that's the fucking point, Nina and Cray cares about Elina, I'm talking about the player and the main character in particular.
I know it was clearly the game's intention, but Ryu literally has no reason to care for any of this, everything the game expects you to care about in Ryu's perspective is stuff that you're simply just a witness of. The end of the game makes this intention apparent when Fou Lu asks you the questions. Fou Lu experiences everything directly while Ryu is simply just witnessing shit happening to other people.
>You said to watch them. You didn't say stop them.
Well, can't argue with that.
I always thought 4 Ryu was kinda just wandering aimlessly, he doesn't appear to have any personal goal or drive aside from finding Fou Lu. He's just.... there.
at least in 3 he's had some emotional attachment to Rei and Teepo, and had some personal struggle after finding out about his history and wanted to personally find Myria for answers.
also 4 gameplay > 3 gameplay
3 soundtrack > 4 soundtrack
Yeah, both and Scias are canonically part of Grassrunner clan, that is composed of dog people.
Ursula is a fox, though. considering the oriental flavor of the west continent it makes sense
>People have wanted Megaman dead for years,
>scaling infinite damage that's spammable until a thing dies without even giving it a turn.
>thinking something is even remotely close.
C'mon it's like your nostalgia goggles are cutting off blood flow.
Why do you think people cheered for Megaman 9? It was the first time anyone thought Megaman had a chance of being GOOD, and it had to go all the way back to Megaman 2 and 3 style to do it.
>lets turn breath of fire into generic anime free to play mobile shit
>give Breath of Fire 6 an actual console release
>90% of gamers like, "6? where the fuck were the other 5?"
>Capcom are already jews, will play the safe route because mobile games are already widely popular in japan
Well sorry the god damn Americans went OH GOD ITS SO FUCKING HARD WHAT DO YOU MEAN IM NOT SUPPOSED TO BEAT IT ON MY FIRST PLAYTHROUGH AND I CANT JUST SPAM DRAGON MODE EVERY FIGHT AND MULTIPLE BRANCHING PATHS OH IM SO CONFUSED.
Once again the west's inability to play a good jRPG fucks up my chances to play them.
See: 7th Dragon
I have a bunch of Breath of Fire books. Japanese guides and artbooks.
DQ has the great merit of being a courageous product, but the result was abso-fucking-lutely underwhelming. and the game system was the worst thing. we've been trough this several times already, you have all the rights to love it but you can't say really that if it flopped the audience is at fault, since it have a kilometer-long list of flaws and shortcomings.
overall, it was a narrative involution from 4, and in the end people loved 3 and 4 for the story, so they really fucked up their priorities
>Series played for the story
>Don't get the story if you play the game right
Gee, I dunno, faggot, where do you think they dun fucked up?
>D-don't y-you see? If you were b-better, you'd lose e-every fight 6 times s-so you'd get to experience the w-whole thing, like I did!!!
Some day, you'll understand how fucking stupid you sound.
It's a guide.
Also I have a lot of fucking books. Mostly japanese game guides/artbooks, artists books, some select manga.. Visual novel fan books. Weird shit.
Not pictured is another bigass stack of bins opposite those.
Here's the recipe for a perfect BoF3 rape party
-1 chain formation
-1 were Rei on number 1 of the chain
-1 tranced infinity Ryu on number 2
-1 Momo with Directive skill equipped
-3 fire absorbing armors
-3 fire damage weapons
-a couple of Holy Avengers
-all the MP seeds you can carry
first put the fire elemental equip on the characters. then, use Momo to replenish the Kaiser MP, use Holy avenger on the Kaiser and cast Directive when they're full. and voila! you got an unstoppable death machine. you don't even need to heal! the randomized attacks are absorbed by the armor and turns into HP!
just do not serve to fire absorbing enemies. the result would be pretty unsatisfactory, at least until you Ragnarok their arses away with Momo
fwiw I beat it on the first go because I never used the d-drive till the last like 6 bosses, but experienced the full game on the subsequent playthroughs because I knew there was a ton I was missing when certain paths couldn't be opened on the first run.
