Why do people like Dragon Quest?

It's a fun and simple series of JRPGs that don't have the usual bullshit attached to it

Sometimes I just want to go on an adventure without having to worry about if I'm going to end up fighting God and the Catholic Church yet again.

I enjoy how simple they are. Doesn't have all of the bullshit most other JRPGs, like Final Fantasy, have weighing it down. I can't stand it when a JRPG acts like it's a movie, and I'm forced to watch endless amounts of cutscenes.
