No, the best way to explain Asura is he's the stone god couldn't lift.

In Asura's Wrath, demigods fuel their god powers through Mantra, which is obtained through emotion. Asura got his through wrath, the more wrath the more power.

All mantra came from Chakravartan, the creator. Chakravartan engineered a situation that would cause one of the demigods under him to ascend into such a powerful being he could leave the world to them as a successor. What he didn't account for is that Asura had a near endless amount of wrath for the whole scheme to the point that he rejected the offer.

Basically Asura kept drawing more and more power from god in his wrath for god that god couldn't keep up.

It was kind of like a suicide, since Demigods are merely an extension of Chakravartans will.
