For the niggers that want an explanation, companies must pay revenue to their stockholders( or shares, i dont know the exact word in english)

Because most of time most companies are valued of how money they have, paying the shares obviously means they will have less money, thus have a lower value and ergo their stocks go down the payed ammont.

Try it, choose a company at random and estimate how much they pay to their shareholders and then look how much the average share goes down, it wi fit nicely.

Also, never buy shares at the end of december or end of january, the value decrease its not instantly, so you are basically paying for a overvalued share.
