Is it just me, or have the 10s so far been a new Golden Age for vidya?
Its like being in the 90s again - except 3D stuff doesn't look like shit nine out of ten times, and handheld gaming devices are great.
>pic related, my Top 10 games for each of the past few years
Why wouldn't I be? I genuinely think the past five years have been fantastic all around.
2014 was still really good, though yeah, I'll admit it wasn't as good as the three preceding years.
And I think the (relative) downturn was mostly due to the new generation meaning way fewer good exclusives came out for either MS or Sony's home consoles compared to previous years.
>that 2015 list
Not bad. Much better than the typical shit which most people seem to latch on here.
These years are beyond redemption along with 2007. I can't think of ten games from these years I would consider actually good.
If you want a super-comfy Harvest Moon/Animal Crossing-like game with more RPG elements it is literally a damn near perfect game.
I spent like 200 hours on it over the past two years, just throwing it on for an hour or two every few days to get shit done. Its super relaxing and fun.
I'm guessing you're not a fan of handhelds, right?
I agree with you on 2007 though, its possibly the most overrated year in vidya ever. I seriously only liked about six games that year.
There is literally nothing wrong with SMT4, and while i didnt have the hype as fuck boss fights from soul hackers, all the non boss related stuff sans dungeons was better
>There is literally nothing wrong with SMT4
Except that's wrong.
>Removing HP cost for phys attacks completely wrecked the balance between them and magic
>Smirk was a fucking gimmick that did nothing in regular gameplay because you would mow through mobs before it could come into play and no boss fights really used it in an interesting way, it just made boss encounters where you had an AI party member into RNG hell because they were fucking retards that would flip a coin on using moves that would give the boss Smirk every turn
>Pretty much every guest demon design was fucking awful looking and clashed horribly with the classic ones
>The story was utter shit even by SMT standards, I mean it literally has the worst Law route in the entire series in terms of the narrative
>The world map was useless and you were required to either have savant-tier memory or use an external guide to get around as a result
>Dungeon design is extremely basic compared to SJ and even III, its very clearly simplified to appeal to a broader audience
Its literal dogshit
I wouldn't go as far as to say the last few years have been a golden age, but I agree things have been on an upswing. The second half of the 2000s was seriously disappointing, except for handhelds and the occasional Nintendo game.
>devs make a sequel
>FUCKING ASSHOLES MAKE NEW GAMES ALREADY!
>devs make a new game
>FUCKING ASSHOLES WHY DON'T YOU GIVE ATTENTION TO OLD SERIES!?
This is why the vidya industry stopped giving a fuck
