Without any information about how any of the people at Oculus felt about doing these things, there is no way for you to know if there was any spite, betrayal, or any negative emotion involved.

Also I would argue Oculus exclusives and the Facebook acquisition were pretty obvious and welcome overall. It was the right decision to make both as a business and for the overall health of the VR ecosystem. Valve is doing their part just as much as Oculus.

Let's consider for example that OpenVR still benefits Valve the most, as people will be influenced to buy titles through their store. It would actually be less profitable for Valve to have exclusives, because they aren't big hardware manufacturers like HTC is. Without the Facebook acquisition, is is very likely Valve would not have spun out like this, and thus we almost certainly would have had a monopoly on the PC VR side by Oculus and Valve, had they kept being partnered.
