>After the bad sales of PS Vita games such as Saki the nationals, higurashi no naku, Dragon×Caravan etc Kaga create goes bankrupt.
Another victim of the vita, why would they make games for a console with such a shitty install base? they are also blaming mobile gaming lol.
>why would they make games for a console with such a shitty install base?
That's where the install base for their games are you retard. If it didn't sell there it wouldn't sell anywhere else.
>They're niche titles
>Barely cracking 10k sales is profitable!
i shall now list the main factors that lead to the death of the Vita
>Shitty launch content
>incredibly overpriced memory cards
>Scatter gun approach to gimmicks (the vita is a jack of all trades and a master of none)
>games more expensive than the handheld market are used to
>Sony doing exactly nothing to even attempt to change any of this after it soon came apparent after launch
they have a shitty install base because of mobile gaming. Theres not enough space in the market for for 2 fully specialized gaming handhelds.
sony didn't help themselves with bad decisions either. PSP is more alive than the vita.
Are you the same guy that gets any piece of negative news about the console to post here?
I mean, if you hate a console so much, why relegate so much time to making constant threads about the console? Its not going to stop people from getting one or current users to decide to hate it.
It's funny how all the mid sized to small sized japanese studios are making games for the Vita so much that the large sized developers are now testing out the waters with some big releases on the Vita.
So stuff like bamco made Smash Bros to be a shit game? They did most of it. Oh, right, you played all these games too right?
And stuff like Paper Jam is the epitome of RPG design?
>shitty launch content
No, there are maybe 3 games that are gimmick heavy.
>Games more expensive than usual
40 fucking dollars new is not expensive. It's cheaper than just about every other platform.
>Sony doing nothing to change prices
On memory cards? Sure. On games? What?
Some new company just released Summon Night 5 in english. Sony only discontinued the manufacturing of PSPs, Sony's not denying licenses.
Vita and 3DS is proof that you need to take a look at demographics before releasing a game on a platform.
3DS has humongous sales but most of the sales are to kids or Nintendo only gamers that don't like to deviate from popular or heavily advertised games.
Vita's audience are older and more experimental so they're willing to try out new IPs and games that gets released on the Vita wont need to compete with the immense juggernauts like Animal crossing, Youkai watch and pokemon.
>lack of mainstream consumer confidence after the abandonment of the psp (outside of japan)
>general apathy toward handhelds (outside of japan)
>less children/adults interested in handhelds due to phones
>monster hunter on 3ds (inside of japan)
>sony being completely retarded
All of these things were factors that combined to kill the Vita for non-weebs.
>No, there are maybe 3 games that are gimmick heavy.
That's exactly the problem.
Sony insist on pushing gimmicks into it's system, that precisely no developer actually uses. What's the point of all the touch screen, gyro-scoping, back touchpad nonsense?
It only serves to up the price of the system in the end. The PSP was much more focused, and much much better as a result. it had reasonable sales too. nothing earth shattering, but as a first step into that handheld market, it was a very positive introduction.
The Vita feels like they learned NOTHING from that
>In any region
Loving every laugh tbqh
>tfw have a vita
>I don't even know who these fags are
Yes, they are ports.
SMT is still using the same overworld, the same saturn sprites, and is rewriting the ending of 4 without changing the premise. Its incredibly lazy and budget.
> it had reasonable sales too. nothing earth shattering
80mil was pretty great.
It only looked bad next to the DS, but the DS was a gigantic Gameboy level success that not even Nintendo could repeat or most likely will repeat anytime soon.
The PSP was a great system with many bigname games.
Vita didnt even try.
>It only serves to up the price of the system in the end
The price that dropped twice or more? I don't think so. Plus, the slim dropped production costs even more. The OLED screen was likely the most expensive part of the device. \
Sony didn't actually push for the gimmicks. Even if first party games like Uncharted it was an optional feature. Tearaway was probably the one game that was built around them. Other games used them, but it wasn't widely adapted.
The PSP came out at a time where handhelds were really emerging, and it had plenty of support. The PS Vita came out around the age of smartphones and the overall decline of handhelds. Doesn't help that most developers were focused on consoles.
Have you already forgotten about the touchpad on the PS4 controller that functions almost solely as just another big button?
Or the PS-Move that nobody wanted?
Or the PS4 camera thing, whatever it was called?
>It only looked bad next to the DS
Well, that's what i meant, but i should have pointed that out. It only wasn't amazing compared to the DS
I'm still not sure why sony even bothered putting the back touch pad unless they thought it was cheap enough to make a good bullet point.
I can't think of 5 games that use it. Little Deviants, DJ Max, Tearaway, ???
Shitting out an uncharted game shows that Sony is retarded.
Nobody wants that on a handheld.
The PSP had the proper stuff.
Monster Hunter, Kingdom Hearts, GTA, Gran Tourismo and Metal Gear Solid.
All came with unique games and werent just shitty ports.
The Vita has nothing like that.
Sony didnt bother with securing any of the games that made the PSP big.
Dropped MH, couldnt get SE to make an exclusive FF for them and all their efforts were misplaced retardation like Borderlands.
The PSP sold like eight times more than the Vita. You cant fully blame mobiles for that.
>Devs going bankrupt for developing for the vita
>No worthwhile games came out since last year (DR 2 was literally the last good thing to be released)
>Vita 2015/2016 lineup getting shit on by the 3DS lineup
>Somehow managing to sell even worse than it has been selling for years, despite it already selling like shit
In what way is it not dead again?
Just because some unknown devs are making shitty visual novels for the system, doesn't mean it's not dead, you know.
Not Sony's game to make.
See above. Can't force SE to make a decision.
Poor port handled by a poor developer. Or a budget problem. I don't know the details. Either way, you can't blame Sony for this. You can blame them for not making many first-party games, though.
>Really want to play Saki
Everyone knows the Vita is a degenerate weebshit platform anyway, so hurry up and make with the mahjong in the West. And don't you dare call them 'pangs' and 'kongs'.
Funny how Sony can manage to pay off Capcom for shit like SF but couldnt do the same with the Vita.
People always love to act like Nintendo bought off Monster Hunter, so why didnt Sony do anything to make their failed handheld more appealing?
3DS owners who cling to MH are pretty desperate, I own a 3DS, mh is literally capcoms budget title and after GE 1+2 is released, the vita will have more than enough hunters to go around. I'm waiting for Trails Of Cold Steel in the mail and when titles start dropping like Exist Archive, Odin Sphere, DQ Builders, Pyscho Pass VN my vita is going to get even more use
>imageepoch & Neverland
So another literally who and the people who made Rune Factory.
I feel bad for Neverland because Rune Factory is genuinely fun but imageepoch co-developed Yoshi's New Island so let them burn.
Handhelds were emerging in the 90s with the gameboy and the slew of failed competitors that lay dead before it, DS/PSP was the swan song before the mobile upsurge, and the DS was popular for a lot of the same reason mobile is a popular platform now.
I bought one solely to play rhythm games so I don't kill my vitas buttons, this purchase was more solidified with Miku X on the horizon as well.
Apparently it's also good if you want to remote play your PS4 from work or whatever but I forgot how that works.
>Those literal who IP's
Top kek tbph
I'll be over here enjoying actual well known games when they're released on my 3DS, like Bravely Second, Monster Hunter X, Fire Emblem Fates, Dragon Quest VII & VIII, and Paper Jam.
Hmm fair enough. What pisses me off about the PSTV is lack of compatibly. The PSTV can not play The Walking Dead Season 2, retail version.
Also on the subject of the PSTV why in the hell does the system oupute ps1 games in 4:3 ratio, 720p settings? The Digital ps1 games honestly look better on a Vita, Psp or Ps3.
>the girls special powers screw up the game, it's not real mahjong anymore.
I've got real mahjong on my phone for singleplayer and online clients for multiplayer. Saki just provides a nice twist. I've played the PSP game on emulator but somehow a fucking mahjong game runs worse than Monster Hunter and GTA.
>Link is to a notice about them dissolving the company with no reason given
>Makes mostly iOS / Android games, and a few Japanese Vita games as the platform has done very well there
>Meanwhilst the Vita has still sold more units than the Wii U, and only one of these is a dead platform according to /v/
Yep. The rear touch screen handled AI tactics. Pinch inward for defense, outward for offense. I might have that reveresed, though. Haven't played it in a long time, and I don't own it anymore.
>Playing DowngradeQuest on 3DS
Bravely Default is an incredibly overrated rpg mainly because people are obsessed with trying to sell it on it's brand name despite the fact that its not any good. PixelHunter Grindfest X you can keep and enjoy too. FE would've been a decent title I was looking forward too since you know, I own the 3DS as well and don't miss out on vidiya but you know full well its getting Nintendos Treehouse treatment, the last game was censored and so is this one with proof already out. If you can handle babby story telling and VA directed at teenagers then sure, enjoyed the playschool tier game.
Look at this bitter cunt thinking he knows shit about videogames
It's not acceptable that a game gets downgraded that badly. Poor graphics in one thing but literally reducing the fidelity of the original game to that degree itself is unjustifiable. You're removing what essentially had part of making it a great game.
I seriously hope you are biting me and not really this retarded. Do you realize the game is already out and the improvements are documented?
You can't argue that's an extreme visual downgrade though
I could understand losing LOD on grass but they removed fucking everything in the background, giving a noticeably worse experience than the original
Hell no, I'm just saying graphics are apart of the overall experience and the face the game needs to be downgraded to that degree just to accommodate the 3DS hardware isn't a good thing.
>Another victim of the vita, why would they make games for a console with such a shitty install base? they are also blaming mobile gaming lol.
I sure hope you dont imply the 3ds is better. Every single game on that antiquated piece of shit is a victim as well considering all games need to be donwgraded to work at 20fps on that shitty 1990 hardware. If anything all games need to be on current gen consoles or an entire new handheld that didnt sell like 1000 units or works on underpowered 240p hardware.
How come DQ8 which was a PS2 title isn't going on a Sony console but going on 3DS?
Is this part of squares anti-monopoly stance where it supports the PS4 console but supports the 3DS in the handheld department?
Did nintendo pay for DQ8 or something? Whats happening here?
Loving every single one of these laughs if I'm honest.
DQ always on the best selling system.
Actually moving to handhelds is part of an exception, just like making that multi release with DQXI.
>being THIS defensive about your inferior port
>implying it wouldn't be just as shitty on the Vita
Ever play God of War on the Vita? It's garbage. I'll stick with the original over a downscaled handheld port any day.
But feel free to list any of these "gameplay improvements" your shitty port has. I'll give it a chance if it's more than just being able to see the map on the bottom screen.
You're not going to list any because there are none. Plain and simple.
You can talk shit about the Vita all you want but don't pretend your handheld port is better than the original.
Why the fuck dont you list the improvements then?
Holy fuck these arguments always suck ass because no one ever wants to submit any factual evidence and just resort to shit posting.
Whats even the point? Retard admitted that he doesnt even know what they changed but he still felt the need to post about the game.
Shits just five seconds on google away.
Its clear that he's just a shitposter so I wont give him any attention anymore.
He's right though, it is better.
The only thing the original has is graphics. Nobody will take graphics over bonus content and added features.
>Mfw I watch Sony drones shitting the bed whenever they see people not worshipping graphics as the be all end all of games
Pottery, to be honest.
Fun how that guy ignores 7 which is a 100% improvement from the original, how is he gonna shitpost about that?
I played EOU when trying to find something worth playing for my 3DS and I enjoyed it plenty.
I only had the demo, but that made the game feel like it had nothing to offer but anime tiddies
But here's the thing:
You didn't list ANY improvements.
All you're doing is saying that it's better because it is.
>"The company said it was not able to create a large enough growth potential in today’s smartphone app-focused video games market, which lead to its unavoidable dissolution."
>literally mentions mobileshit as the cause of their death
>it's the Vita
8/10 bait tread, at least 55 people fell for it.
It has a slow start. You get new classes at lvl 15 and 30. You can use skills from the current class and the other class you unlocked.
Also, you can craft weapons and whatnot. It is pretty fun, and the dungeons are easy at first but from the 3rd one goes into STING territory of complexity.
>aki the nationals, higurashi no naku, Dragon×Caravan
So those games don't count, expect when you can shitpost about them right
Fuck off with your double standard back to Reddit.
I know that it has worse graphics, no voice acting, and access to the map on the bottom screen.
I wasn't talking out of my ass. I was just listing the "improvements" that I know of. And since you continue to refuse to list any improvements, I have no reason to think there are any.
Every thread is like this
Why even try anymore?
I bought it for $40 Canadian and it does feel a bit like a waste but it does have the definitive Ateliers and Danganronpaul.
Also Ys Celceta finally works but now that will probably come to Steam too. lol
After all this shitposting, one anon mentioned the only bonus content was an extra dungeon and an alternate ending. And I doubt those two things make it better than the original game.
But if there's more, then please do speak up. I'll keep the thread in an open tab in case you can list an improvement or two.
