>Pikmin 1: Olimar Crash lands and needs to return home by finding his spaceship parts
>Pikmin 2: The jewish President of Hocotate fell into massive Debt and wants Olimar to collect treasure from Pikmin Planet, and even after his debt was payed he was a big enough jew to send you back for more
>Pikmin 3: 3 Pilots from Koppai are searching for food after their planet suffered Famine, needs to collect juice for themselves and bring home to the planet as long as fatass britanny doesnt pretend to leave you behind because she wants all the juice to herself
>>322693598 Hmmm I could see it. I think they should make a way for you to be able to tell your pikmin where to go without having to throw them or go with them.
Like there is an enemy like you described blocking a treasure so obviously olimar wouldn't be able to hide from it so he couldn't go. But you could send the green pikmin to go get it. This would also work better for multitasking things.
Black Pikmin >Leave a short trail of tar behind them as they walk. The tar can slow enemies. More black pikmin following = thicker tar = bigger enemies get slowed. >When hitting an enemy they have a chance to slow them down. Throw lots on an enemy and it'll get very slow. >If an enemy eats a black pikmin they may get slowed for a time. >Black pikmin don't drop items, even if they're knocked down by wind or drowning. They are slower to get up, swim to shore, or generally recover from being hit, though.
This idea of black Pikmin with slightly frayed leaves got me thinking about the wars that ants fight in real life. I don't think it would apply to the main game very well, but if they decide to go the Pikmin 3 route and include another arcadey bit of side content, it might work out as some sort of multiplayer arena thing.
It would clearly take some hashing out, but the idea of testing your ability to command Pikmin directly against another person sounds lovely to me.
Also give me high risk high reward nighttime mode.
To the anon that suggested a derivation of Pikmin with a camoflague ability, what if they just had exaggeratedly large flowers when fully leveled that if grouped together give the illusion of a simple pile of flowers, so you can safely navigate when enemies backs are turned.
>>322688878 >Clawed Pikmin that use their long claws to climb and shit >Stinky Pikmin that can ward of enemies with their stench but can attract others >Healing Pikmin that can heal injured Pikmin, but are weak and have to be kept away from the action >Strong Pikmin that can carry injured Pikmin over to the healing Pikmin The only problem is deciding which colors they should be
When it comes to making Pikmin OC, I'm all over that shit.
>Found in the tundra region. They're covered in dense hair that allows them to grip icy surfaces without slipping. Because of this, they're able to access certain areas with ease, and are immune to ice-oriented attacks*. With the aid of suit upgrades (crampon boots), the captains can also access these new areas. They're least likely to be eaten due to the bristly hairs, but are favored by the Hairy Bulborb just like any other pikmin type.
>*New Blowhog subspecies: Icy Blowhog. Functions like the Watery and Fiery Blowhog, only it spews frigid vapors that immediately freeze the target. If a leader gets hit, they're temporarily unable to move due to being frozen. This leaves pikmin following who are following them vulnerable.
A game that uses all of the Pikmin, includes the dungeon-crawling of 2 and a solid online multiplayer base. I don't even care if there isn't a new type (even though I want orange really bad), I just want an awesome plot like >>322694279.
Maybe the planets just have corporate competition rather than a full-scale war, though.
Like you could use them to do a single task once, but their gimmick is that they do it much more efficiently than a group of Pikmin. Could have stuff where some instakill enemies enemies, others build things near instantly, and still others carry things a lot faster. You'd probably only be able to get them from candypop flowers, to add balance.
>>322698198 Freezing Ice would be in interesting new hazard, but other than your Icy Blowhog who expels it it would be difficult to implement. Pikmin are shown to survive well in cold climates. Cold water wouldn't work because technically neither blue nor snow pikmin could cross it, since blues would freeze and snows would drown.
>>322688882 I think the issue with that from a design standpoint is that it splits the number of each type of unit you can bring to counter specific threats
Like if there were seven types available at once and you wanted to be ready for anything, you'd need six groups of 15 and one group of 10, and if you encountered anything that needed more than 15 of a specific color you'd be fucked if you didn't know in advance
>>322687931 >pikmin cross-pollination >mix two types to make a new one with both colors' abilities (likely by throwing them into certain candypop buds like how you make white pikmin) >probably have stripe pattern to differentiate them >all new kinds of puzzles revolving around this >red+blue=immune to fire and can swim >pink+purple=super strong flying pikmin THE POSSIBILITIES ARE NOT ENDLESS BUT THERE ARE QUITE A FEW!
>>322703587 Fair enough, but that line about how "Hocotains will be anything for treasure" always sticks out to me. Although rational I know it's just a result of lazy story writing or desperate lore connection. Since the premise of Pikmin 2 is collecting treasure to pay a debt, they have to just say that the race itself is obsessed with collecting treasure as a way of shoehorning why Olimar and Louie are there in the first place. The Pikmin Lore faggot in me hate this reasoning, but I choose not to think about it too much.
>>322704683 But that line really does show how little some Koppai people know about hocotations. They even have shock when they learn from Louie that he not only eats vegetables but meat, when compared to the fruit lifestyle of koppai.
>>322687931 You will no longer be able to throw pikmin, that is too complex for the average pikmin fan to handle. Instead, you will have your wii mote, point it at the enemy you want dead, and your pikmin will automatically jump up onto the enemy until it dies.
I was really, really hoping for Pikmin 3 to throw me a bone. I was severely disappointed, but on the bright side most of the new bosses were based. Vehemoth Phosbat and Scornet Maestro were incredible.
