It wasn't that bad. Neither was Mirror of Fate, though Mirror of Fate had a fuck-load of awkward issues and untapped potential. Not really familiar with Lords of Shadow 2. I imagine it's about the same.
I don't know why people are so butthurt over them. Yeah, they kinda suck. So did the N64 games. So did the PS2 games. People that think Lords of Shadow was entirely responsible for the current state of Castlevania are delusional. The series didn't have any sense of direction anyway.
>>322651079 Belmont's Theme was the dog's bollocks. >>322650412 Such potential. The mechanics were fun, the soundtrack was orchestral brilliance, the VA had improved and the backdrops were stunning. But the story.....Jesus titty-fucking Christ, the story......
>>322652890 They should've done more MoF-games and improved upon the formula
either by going more Metroidvania or more linear Classic-style. I feel like MoF might as well been a fully linear game. They could've done the Quest-system like they did in LoS 1 (and Rondo of Blood for that matter since you could always revisit levels in that game)
>the moment MC starts chanting alongside the priest to show that he still has a God's blessing even though he fell very low >the one who gets incinerated is priest himself Strongest moment of all reboot CV games probably.
>>322653698 I think they just reacted on the fanbase who wants more Metroidvanias. The stated that the biggest influence was Castlevania 3 more and more, but there was big fucking tail of whiny Metroidvania-fans for every news-piece, twitter-post, Facebook-post etc where they showcased the game.
A lot of reviews too when the game got released are mostly "It's not SotN. It sucks". I really hate that mentality.
>>322652446 I'm still mad that you're supposed to be Dracula, a guy so powerful that the devil himself is kind of scared of you, and you are literally never able to beat a big mutant with a rocket launcher.
>>322654906 Oh, don't get me started on that. At least you get to possess a few and kill them that way - but that's only because of certain level design allows it. If Satan had had two of those guys with him in the final boss battle - yeah well, All Hail Satan.
Fucking True Crime New York City. It has lots of problems, but I can easily ignore them and actually have a good time, it's giltchy as fuck, music sucks, the driving is awful, but it has lots of accesible interiors, hundreds of different crimes to solve, the missions are pretty fun and the good cop/bad cop mechanics are bretty gud. It's just a game I can't hate because I have lots of fun with it.
>>322655190 (cont) If they had done it properly, they should've have them appear as regular enemies, but easily beatable. Just the fact you never get your revenge on them either is so infuriating. Even a fucking 5-year-old would get that should be aim if you are making a game about regaining your powers.
>>322656216 Defiantly don't agree with you their man, gameplay was pretty shitty in DaS2. Really the only reason i enjoy it is because i've replayed all the other ones SO many times and it's just like another handicap trying to deal with the shit mechanics.
about to start a second playthrough aiming for 100%. As a huge Mad Max fan especially this game is fucking great, there's so much content as well if you want to go after it, and side quest chains nearly all have their own unique stories alongside the main quest.
My only gripe is the lack of australian voice actors.
I vaguely remember seeing an old school 2d Castlevania, but a new game/release, something from the past 5-6 years maybe. I tried searching for it but couldn't find it, am I imagining things or was there such a game indeed?
>>322662986 I checked and it wasn't this, since I saw it being played on a PS3, and the artstyle was newer, featuring the Dracula from the current games. I remember it having a shitton of mechanics and skills you could unlock, so it wasn't like the old old ones with just jump and attack. Hope this helps
>>322651564 the story wasnt the worst of it. you can ignore that- the gameplay in the city was atrocious. the castle was fun, the city was not fun at all. and the final boss was underwhelming and slightly bullshit
What I don't understand is why people comp`lain so much about the second one. Tehre are several gameplay improvements, the music is great, the art is too. The stealth missions are just a couple little puzzles. People complain about how they didn't like they couldn't kill the enemies with the grenade launcher, and similar really small things
