How did they get away with releasing such a mediocre, broken game?
I get the fact that hype obviously played into it, but shouldn't it have been completely slated when it came out?
It's not garbage, it's just... Fallout 3 again, just a bit better in some gameplay aspects, and worse in RPG aspects.
And Fallout 3 is not an impressive game to release in 2015.
You can see stuff like settlement building could have been GREAT if it had been refined and given a clear goal and direction. Instead it just feels like a beta feature... in a fully released AAA game.
The world is hard to explore, disorientating and not well designed. The NPC AI is still shit. All NPC towns feel like theme parks and don't do a good job convincing you people actually live there.
What else did I miss except the obvious stuff about writings and complete lack of RPG mechanics?
>buy Fallout 3 for the RPG aspects
>Buy Fallout 4 because I enjoyed Fallout 3
>RPG aspects completely dumbed down
>Gameplay slightly better
>Quit playing after 2 hours because I got bored
Sigh. I guess RPG elements aren't valued anymore these days because they're not flashy and spectacular.
Because people gobble up Bethesda's shit like candy.
They have no incentive to change so why should they? They can crack out a new big buggy world every four years with less care each time and people will suck their cock for it.
Once the creation kit drops I really hope someone creates a deep and fantastic tower defence mod.
>You get a settlement surrounded by walls with several entrances
>Waves of enemies start coming at you
>For each enemy killed you get resources
>If they breach the wall you instantly lose
>Time between each round to build defences and purchase defensive settlers
>Start with shitty enemies like radroaches and molerats
>Gets tougher and tougher with stuff like raiders, gunners, railroad, brotherhood, deathclaws
>It's pretty much designed to beat you, if somehow you manage to get really far it just starts spawning dozens of stuff like liberty primes etc
