Blood Dragon. It even features this gay ass song, which is really an embodiment of 80s softness.

It was fucking terrible.

The game was slow as fuck, you had to loot enemies and the entire gameplay felt clunky.

It had potential but building on the shit game far cry 3 was a big mistake. Ubisoft is trash.

Duke Nukem 3D and Shadow Warrior *get* what 80s action movies were about. The Shadow Warrior remake endorses that even more:

eh, I like the OG Hanna Barbara ones better.

Old guy here. The 80s didn't look like you think it did. There wasn't much neon at all except on album covers and even then only for girly popstars. Most record covers had this weird "greasy suave club guy" aesthetic or the "faux-blue collar" look ala Born In The U.S.A.

Music was great, but only if you're talking about the urban radio stuff. The stuff they played on MTV was the worst music ever.

>>322355950
Duke Nukem 3D has jack shit to do with 80s action movies. It's much closer to all those now-forgotten Die Hard clones that came out in the 90s.

>>322352440
I'd guess it's closer to 99%. There are a few of us old guys though, even if we're mostly on /vr/ now.

>Trends of gated snare and terrible use of compression and filters. Worse era.

Only if you're talking about what they played on MTV or the "indie" garbage, which was even worse. 80s was easily the best era for music if you weren't a tasteless jerkoff. The top tier stuff made up for everything else and there was less uniformity to people's taste back then so you could easily ignore the garbage and focus on the quality.

>Duke Nukem 3D has jack shit to do with 80s action movies

...except for the fact that his character is entirely based on 80s action/horror/sci-fi movies. Arnold Schwarzenegger movies, Evil Dead, They Live, Escape from New York etc.
>>
>>322357079
Let's be real here, every single era has more shit than good, that's the nature of any market. But overall production trends made the 80's the worst. If you think there's more solid, important stuff in music in the 80's than there was in the 70's you're genuinely misinformed.
>top tier stuff made up for everything else
There wasn't anything top tier, even classic bands like the Grateful Dead released their absolute worst record in the 80's. There's a reason why your parents constantly cringe whenever you bring that era up.
>>
>>322351723
It's literally the exact same shit.
>"Winners don't use drugs lol"
>Kung fu
>Laser sharks
>Neon everything
>>
>>322357080
That stuff is literally hipster crap that has nothing to do with the actual 80s. You clearly don't know what you're talking about if you think it was like Kung Fury.

>>322357158
No, it was based on action movie stars like Ahnold. The game had more in common with T2 than it did with Rambo.

Are you from /mu/? Because think that any music in the 80s that wasn't on MTV didn't exist. You couldn't possibly be more wrong.

Are there any tastefully made 80s action type of games? I'm sick of blooming neon colors and lasersharks and whatever.
>>
>>322357079
>80s was easily the best era for music if you weren't a tasteless jerkoff.
Look who's fucking talking.
>>
>>322357753
I'm very aware that there was more music than what was on MTV, unlike you, I happened to be alive, and I happened to spend a lot of time recording those very same tracks off the radio onto cassette tapes. Guess what, those same songs you're talking about are just as bad.
The 90's was a breath of fresh air because it effectively killed off most of the terrible trends the 80. Hair/Glam metal and again, Gated Snare being good examples of those. The 70's are objectively superior and overall more important parts of music history.
>>
>>322357807
There were games inspired by that era of action movies that came out during that actual era. Contra is basically Alien vs. Predator: The Game without an official license. RoboCop 2 arcade is also really cool. RoadBlasters is also really underrated. And the Tron games were OK.
>>
>>322357807
Serious Sam games are pretty 80's type humor/feel. If the first two are too old/outdated for your tastes the 3rd one is pretty aright.
>>
>>322351265
seriously I think Deus Ex might. It feels like 80s action all the way
>>
>>322357886
Sure thing, kid.

>>322358058
You clearly were a white suburban kid back then. It might seem hard to imagine nowadays, but there used to be a middle ground between the stuff that got played on MTV/radio and the stuff that was "underground/indie". Stuff that actually sold well without any commercial promotion, just based on word of mouth and club play. There were thousands of quality records coming out at the time and they weren't the suburban white kid poofy hair and makeup pop that made up 1% of records back then that clearly is the only music from that era you ever heard of.

It's more like 90s cyberpunk, which is the golden age of cyberpunk and hackers.
>>
>>322357807
The Chase HQ series is based on cop movie chase scenes from that era. Lucky & Wild is essentially a Lethal Weapon rip-off light gun shooter / car chase hybrid.
>>
>>322358804
Oddly enough 90s cyberpunk was all based on 80s novels.

Nice projection man, how's high school treating you? Find your generi-black and fat friends yet?
I don't fit that description or upbringing in any way.
The fact you even try to describe 80's music as "indie," tells me you don't really know what you're talking about. I mean, props to you for finding your little gems in the haystack of shit here and there, and props to you for finding music you enjoy, but in the context of our discussion the 70's are 100% better, both on the mainstream and in the underground. 80's music has its charm but lacks the substance it otherwise needs to carry weight. Again, outside of pop too, your corny, badly produced synthwave too. The only area I can see this possibly being wrong is for maybe folk/country and hip hop since hip hop didn't exist in the 70's.
>>
>>322359342
>hip hop didn't exist in the 70's

Yep, white sheltered faggot who literally knows nothing about music from that era and never heard anything other than the 1% of music played on radio/MTV.
>>
was born in 1982 and remember a lot of what made the 80s great got killed off by grunge and gangsta rap in the 90s. That period between the end of the 80s culture and 90s culture began was great though. Playing gta SA basically hits a nail on the head.

80s rap was the shit though.

> was born just at the right point to enjoy the 80s and the 90s.
>>
>>322359221
That's not what this thread is about at all.
