Does the Steam version of this have horrible graphics glitches?

I never had an issue with it (Win7) but that's not really a guarantee it will work for you. I'm not sure if the Steam and GoG versions of the game are any different.

Here's what Kashyyyk looks like. The game is smooth and technically playable but has lots of eyerape like this

nah, I bought the steam version in the bundle they had on sale and the only issue I have is the main menu is stuck in I think 800x600 resolution. Also for some reason I couldn't use bonuses for some of the missions in galactic conquest for fuck knows why

I don't have that problem with the steam version, however it does have an issue where you have to have something plugged into your microphone jack or the game crashes
