HL2 was designed for people who never played HL1. The only real connections to the previous game are some memeshit jokes about crowbars, which are probably more entertaining to dumb kids who read about HL1 on Wikipedia for five minutes before playing HL2 than to anyone who actually spent a lot of time playing HL1.
