SSB4 "Challenge" thread. How's your challenge board going?
Apparently I'm missing a dozen Mii hats if there are 55 of them total. Am I doing something wrong? I was grinding Crazy Orders for a week to get all the special moves, but I only got 2 new mii hats out of it.
Pic related. Not a single new Mii hat.
I'd expect having about a 20% chance to get a new hat is good odds
I found them all naturally while doing other things in the 3DS version
Do you get something from having completed the board? Why would you use a hammer to pretend you completed something? For the satisfaction of having a completed board? But then that's offset by having used a hammer.
I'm doing alright for Challenges so far. I really need to git gud for Classic since I can only beat it on 8.5 so far.
I've played probably 30 games of smash tour and I have only seen a metroid one time. I let it take my stats and then it teleported right in between two rivals so I couldn't get the challenge. I hate smash tour so much but this is one of the only challenges I am missing. Fuck!
I got lucky with Olimar. I used a first striker, home run, and vampire equipments. Throw Pikmin to snag the first hit. Kept fighting giant and metal battles. Beat most of them in less than 10 seconds. Avoid 75m, Hyrule, and other big stages like the plague.
Mainly because I get fucked over during Master Core that I'm only let off with one life at a high percentage so I'm forced to either use the Heart Container at the beginning of Fortress and hope to not get fucked over by off-screen Lasers and Plasma Wisps. Though to be fair I'm playing as
Donkey Kongmost of the time
The Multiman Smash/Target Smash challenges aren't challenging as much as they are trial and error. At first I could only last 30 seconds as Luigi but after 20 minutes of combined dodge rolls and ledge grabbing I got
I just used Ganondorf for all the hard Classic mode challanges.
Up smash absolutely destroys all of Master Hand's forms. Like 3 to 5 hits kills each one. And it's so damn fast. Take your sweet time during Master Fortress. Avoid Stalfos. Kill every laser thing you see, even the ones out of the way.
Just beat that "ko 8 in cruel smash" by using Wario's bike for 10 easy kos
>Lucina 8 KOs in Cruel Smash
>All Star against input reading CPUs constantly gimping you
>THAT FUCKING CREDITS WALL
HELP SOMEONE PLEASE
IVE EVEN USED PALUTENA'S STUPID HEAVENLY LIGHT MOVE AND IM ALWAYS POINT SOMETHING OFF
I just hate how the AI purposely never fight each other in classic. Not to mention they beeline towards Dragoon/Daybreak parts and work together to keep you from them.
I need more practice against that thing that shows up after Master Core. I've only done one attempt
as DKand was completely unprepared.
Smash Tour and Target Blast are the most unfun things I've ever seen. It will take forever to build up the effort to do the challenges for them.
Cruel Smash isn't too much of a problem though due to spamming edge grabs.
All Star Hard isn't as bullshit as Classic. But still bullshit. The stupidest thing about All Star is that everything that hits you has shit damage and launching power, except projectiles and items, which stay the same. So characters like Samus, Duck Hunt, Dedede, Olimar, and Megaman are huge threats and will fuck you up.
For some reason the Pikachu CPU in All-Star is fucking godlike. He solo combos me like crazy and did sick as edge guarding.
Also I fucking hate it when the computers work together and wombo combo you. It's like they're programmed to predict launch trajectory and continue a combo. Even knocking me back and forth across the whole stage
>High level CPU Peach always spikes my ass with her short hop to hover to f air
She always nails me with that and I never see it coming. Goddamnit.
Also losing Crazy Orders to a stage hazard or explosive that spawns during your smash attack is bullshit.
Smash 4 has way too many one hit kill items.
Spend an hour doing Spectator mode online. Bet on the people with 0% win ratio. Try to triple your wins to get 100k. You'll even see the same matches if you do it enough. I recommend taking notes
>Doing the home run/first striker strategy in Crazy Orders
>CPU just dances around me and mocks me by dodging at the last second, power shielding, ect every time
Also fuck these small stages like Onett and Yoshi's Island. It's too small for even 6-man, but they still include it. What the fuck
I can't take it anymore /v/, I've spent probably 25k gold in the past hour trying to beat Classic 9.0 without losing a life with Ganondorf and yet I end up dying to some random fuck up or how the CPU managed to get a hit that always launches me.
I've been running with Desperate Attack Badge with 1.7 attack power boost, Vampire Brawn Badge, and First Strike with Flame Chain, Warlock Punch, Wizard's Dropkick, and Dark Vault as my custom moves. Should I switch something out for something else?
I completed it.
Collect all customs
Collect all Mii headgear
Beat classic on 7.0 or above with every character
Beat all-star on hard with every character
Beat 9.0 without customizations
Because FUCK grinding for randomized shit that you can get dupes of and FUCK wasting all that time on classic and all-star. The last challenge definitely stumped me though, so you can go ahead and tell me "git gud scrub" on that one.
Honestly, just go who you're good with + auto heal and or vampire badge.
Pro tip: You can use counter on Crazy Sword's move where it separates into many blades and then the final blade goes down.
I found the credits wall easy as rosie.
>done every other challenge except clear 9.0 without losing a life
>still missing custom parts
>still missing hats
This is worse than the 3DS version. At least Smash Run was kind of fun. The "quickest" way to unlock stuff in this one is to borderline cheat at Master Orders, and that's boring as fuck.
I still had one challenge that was a ?. I had no idea I had to beat all-star on hard with every character. Fuck my life, I've spent the past few days beating it on normal with every character. FUCK!!!!!
>Lucina 8 KOs in Cruel Smash
Roll towards the edge. When one gets close to you, grab it and toss it back off the edge. Lather, rinse, repeat.
>THAT FUCKING CREDITS WALL
I can't believe someone is actually this bad at Smash.
>do all the challenges
Simple truth, no one IRL is going to check your e-peen score, but they might be interested in the prize behind the window. Logical choice is to hammer boring stuff.
>can't transfer my complete save file
>can't edit transferred characters
I don't have quick batter for every character. It's not a big deal though. I tend to be reckless and do nothing but hope they stand still long enough for the bat. So I get hit a lot
I can get to the hands if I'm lucky at best, what fucks me over is that most of the goddamn time the 3rd round is almost always going to be Kongo Jungle 64 with at least 4-7 CPUs on it. I could tolerate Classic a bit more if they added some more fucking stages. Here's a greentext of something that happened to me just before.
>Playing 9.0 intensity
>Finish the first two rounds without losing a life
>3rd round has about 7 CPUs on it
>All of a sudden an intruder alert happens with Giant Wii Fit Trainer and Giant Charizard
>On Kongo fucking Jungle of all places
>They take up most of the space of the map so it obscures the fighting
>Kirby manages to a hit on me with his hammer and kills me when Charizard was blocking my character
I swear to christ this game makes me want to throw the gamepad at my T.V.
I want to know who the hell thought 8-Player Smash was a good idea for Classic mode on the Wii U. It's not fun, it gets old fast, and the CPUs always gang up on you making Free-For-Alls a bitch to do. Plus its the same stages all of the time minus 75m, Palutena's Temple, and Temple Melee thankfully.
>Also losing Crazy Orders to a stage hazard or explosive that spawns during your smash attack is bullshit.
This game is this fucking close to turning me into a tourneyfag.
>fucking Garden of Hope
>fucking Pokemon League
>fucking Great Cave Offensive
>fucking Orbital Gate
>fucking every stage with a boss
You can either play Wario and ride your bike back and forth. It's effortless and gets you ~350 each time
Or you can play DK and down-B for 2 and a half minutes straight. It needs a bit more work, but you get about 500 each time
>home run bat CPU into the yellow block
>instantly stops flying
>lands in front of me
>home run bat again
>instantly stops flying again
>repeat until over 300%
Fucker made me waste ten seconds.
>Getting to Master Hand is the hardest part.
Are you fucking mental?
AND HEY! IF YOU BEAT ALL THAT!
>Master Core and his five (or whatever hearts)
>and his instant death if over 100% pits
>many of which surround the final heart
As Ganondorf, it's the hardest part. His up-smash destroys every form of Master Hand in several hits, as well as being really fast.
Put on auto-healer and vampire. You can auto heal outside of Master Fortress for awhile if you want
I remember almost crying with excitement when 8-player Smash was announced, and I thought the big stages looked really cool. Then they had 8-player Smash on a bunch of shit stages, and the big stages are all annoying to kill people on and usually have an island that's a clusterfuck of oversized
Such wasted potential.
I saw this neat video of someone using Pit, going just below the stage, using uair, the attack clips through the floor and knocks the Miis off the stage, and they can't recover. I tried it out, and after about 10 tries I got it to work.
>I know I'll probably get there naturally when trying to get 700 trophies
Trophy rush only has so many trophies. The shop has some exclusives, some are behind challenges, and some are for beating the game and things. I played probably a half hour of trophy rush where I didn't get shit before I finished that challenge.
I haven't tried Wario, but because he moves on his bike, you won't have to worry about the falling laser.
The only thing I think you'll have to worry about are the stationary bomb blocks.
It's probably easier with Wario because you'll be moving and won't have to worry about the lightning.
That being said, why aren't either of you just playing as someone you like and at least having a somewhat dynamic experience rather than doing the exact same thing for four hours straight?
I replied to the right post. I meant that I used the same strategy I used when I played as Lucina for the other challenge. Back throwing them off the edge works for both Lucina and Pit
What's the best way to grind for equipment? I have quick batter and HRB equipment on my 3DS, but it is a hassle to have to transfer over a version of every single fighter for that shit.
Roulette scumming is much harder on the Wii U version, Smash Tour is painfully boring and not fun in the slightest bit, and all the other modes hardly give out any equipments.
Please don't say I have to do Smash Tour.
But that's not the strategy I used with Pit at all. I went underneath the stage and used up air, which clips through the floor and hits the Mii Fighters, knocking them off the ledge. No throws involved.
The WiiU version is surprisingly better at the random drops. Just do Crazy Orders as whatever character is best for it, and go for tickets with the icon of the series of the character you want equipment for.
>Doing Crazy Orders
>Didn't realize that I was running out of time
>Countdown from five starts happening
>Oh shit oh shit
>CPU dies at 1
>See that i have 0:00.18 seconds left
>did the 20 orders as Mario challenge with just Vampire equipment and some other shit
>found out about the home run equipment on here not long after
>got 67 rounds as Mario on my first try
I was pretty mad then, but it's been a great way to unlock shit since, so I can't be too mad.
>CPU opponents now fight each other
>counter spam by high level CPUs now lowered to believable human levels
>CPU no longer psychic where item drops and stage hazards are concerned
>CPU can no longer do this bullshit >>277519072 >>277521186 >>277521368
And suddenly single player isn't as much of a pain in the ass.
I can't even remember what was was going on in this screenshot, but it's a clusterfuck of fuck.
>got up to 705 trophies
>can't bring myself to give a fuck about the last ~10
how do you find the patience to sit through all the trophy rush/smash tour/collectibles challenges? a few weeks ago I was super gung-ho about getting 100% but now I just want to improve at the real game.
>Breezing though like nothing. CPUs practically standing still in front of me for the bat
>Suddenly Giant Megaman goes extremely aggressive and combos me with two hits and kills me
>GIANT CAPTAIN FALCON
>he does a basic jab
>I drop the bat
>He picks it up
>Proceeds to just smash attack and I die at 70%
>It was round fucking 2
The amount of bullshit in this game is astonishing
I can beat that.
>Giant Ike perfect shields to reflect fast fireball
>okay, we're doing this the old fashioned way
>fight like mad
>knock him off the stage
>bomb appears in front of me
>know computers catch stuff that's thrown at them all the time
>throw it upwards
>Ike airjumps over me
>catches bomb out of the air
>throws it down at me
>KO from 0%
50+ rounds down the drain in about a second.
>First time doing Crazy Orders with Mario
>Going for 20
>Shit's getting hard since I'm not used to it yet
>I think I'll do one more
>Giant Toon Link runs up to me without stopping and Up-smashes once
>Palutena's Temple, 75m and Temple Melee
>implying its not just Duck Hunt and 64 Kongo Jungle all the time
Those two stages aren't even big enough for 8P smash. Yet there they fucking are. They might as well have put New Pork City back in.
The true logical choice is to let people play the game the way they want to play the game. It's not rocket science, but no you have to project your own playstyle upon others like an absolute madman.
>mfw got the 100% credits wall my first time.
barely even tried
How the fuck do I git gud with Lucario?
>"But anon why do you want to git gud with Lucario?"
Because of fucking all star mode.
Lucario does bullshit damage at high percentage. There is a challenge to finish All-Star on Hard without healing and finish Normal or Higher with Lucario.
No healing = High Damage = Stronger attacks = Easier wins
Tried it and I can get easily to Stage 5 because at this point I'm at 200% and at that rate your smash attacks nearly equal a homerun bat but I still get knocked the fuck out easily.
He was right though.
If you die fighting Master Core outside of Master Shadow, when Master Beast ends up in superfast mode because you dropped him down to 1 fucking hp, or a rough start with Master and Crazy Hands due to a bullshit combo (if Master and Crazy open with that super fast slap or the gust attack bullshit I just suicide cause I fucking hate that AI routine, snap or gun I can live with) it's likely because you fucked up.
If you die to any of the bullshit before that it's likely because the computer cheats like a motherfucker.
Nothing can save "Sakurai's vision of smash" if anything they'd remove the first second third ect place results screens at the end because winning makes the people who didn't sad
there's a list of things exempt from the lowered knockback that you have to watch out for, besides that you should be able to live well into the 200% range on most characters.
>every attack that uses pikmin
>charizard's flare blitz
those are the things that killed me the most when I did my hard mode clear with duck hunt. there are also a few red herrings you'd expect to kill you at low % but actually don't, like G&W's 9 and Mac's KO punch.
>The true logical choice is to let people play the game the way they want to play the game.
>you have to project your own playstyle upon others like an absolute madman.
I think you may be fucking with me.
I think FFA is easier to manage than team. In FFA, you can clobber whoever picks up your bat if you manage to drop it. In teams, if it gets picked up by a teammate there's little to no chance of you getting it back.
Metal>Giants (til turn 15 then fuck that shit)>FFA>Team>Horde
You forgot to account for the fact that those dim bulb level 2 teammates will walk you out of home run range while you wind up if you fucking go team
Basically projectiles don't have lowered damage and knockback like all other attacks. Which is fucking stupid
Always be sure to run towards Samus when the round starts. She always fucking starts on the opposite end and charges her shot
I still haven't even gotten the "clear the credits" bullshit.
Every goddamn time
There's always one tiny little speck left on the board and not a single name rolls over it.
Shit's gotta be so precise that anything passing near it just plain don't count.
Shit drives me crazy.
Duck Hunt's cans will ruin you, too. I remember him killing me with cans on my no-heal Falcon runs.
Which was infuriating because I was able to survive smash attacks but died to a tin can grazing against my model.
Fucking serious? This shit's easy
Grab super mushrooms
Here's something I figured out. If it's still early and a smart bomb drops, set it off where you want and spam start. Names go inside the bomb instead of exploding uselessly outside of it
2 hats left
I'm also shooting for all the milestones and other than the 1 million matches one I only have hats and all bonus effects (I've got 6 left to find after like 3k customs)
>Wii U version
It's just shittons of grinding. I've done all the hard as balls shit so now it's just shittons of grinding. All hats, all All-Star Hard, all Classic 7.0, 50k blocks, etc.
I'm about ready to farm it off to my fraternity so I can play some other games, cause I don't particularly feel like grinding this shit out again.
>have every single event match done on hard and flagged
>except fucking Keep 'Em off the Ship! which I just did on easy
Damn it, spring semester needs to come faster so I can actually play with my more skilled friends.
The bro that helped me with everything else is good and actively getting better as he logs hours, but he's not up for this shit.
i completed it before christmas and man, finding hats is so lame, especially when youre missing like one more. duplicates for days on end
>Sakurai gives you 2 million gold for completing this shit
At this point, what for Sakurai? What for?
>going for 10 turns with Greninja, who's my worst character
>Giant Olimar battle
>I have 4 new songs, two of which are ones i've been looking forward to
>everything's going smoothly
>bob-omb spawns, teammate wario picks it up
> walks a distance away, throws it at Olimar
>it lands short, right on top of me and kills me
>in the Game Over screen i lose the CDs and nothing else
I wish nothing but misery upon the nitwits who designed the ai for this game
>literally the only fucking threat
Fuck me if there were no gunners spawned I could go to 15 without cheese
If it makes you feel any better, CDs are by far the easiest grind after outfits
if youre doing a no hammer run, youll be overloaded with equipment. i went to my amiibo screen (cause you can feed them any equipment regardless of type) and scrolled from top to bottom. it took me a minute and forty seconds to reach the bottom
i was tempted to sell old equipment just to have a small inventory, but decided to keep em for amiibo feeding
forgot to add, i used the scroll bar too (glowing in red)
>selling equipment isn't worth the amount of time it takes
>feeding an Amiibo takes even longer
>and is unnecessary, because a properly trained lvl 50 is tough enough without
> Those autists that sperg if you use a hammer
Don't listen to them, bros. Those hammers are there to be used. Not everyone has to be an autistic being. What's the point of having the whole challenges completed and being left with hammers you will NEVER use? Just use them, who gives a shit. Nobody is going to give you a prize for that.
yea good luck with that one. its just tedious as fuck and if youre not good with one of the characters, it might take you hours to complete with that one character
also in allstar,
>cpus cant hit each other like in classic
>they literally wombo combo you to death
ive been meaning to write a guide or something for people that wanna clear this (or some of it) i the future cause i think allstar hard with everyone was just painful as fuck for me
it's bullshit because one tiny mistake and you're fucked. the best strategy i found was to make it through the first 3 without using anything, then using up a heart container before the fourth, giving you plenty of health for the rest. you can still get fucked though if you get caught in a ridiculous team combo by the cpus
>mfw i never understood /v/'s hatred for 99% of Sm4sh's stages
>that is, until i tried completing All-Star on Hard
Pokemon League, Mario Circuit 8 and Luigi's mansion especially, holy fuck
I'm still of the opinion that most of the stages in the game are super fun.
I'm trying to beat cruel smash as Lucina and this is getting to the point where it's not fun anymore.
It feels like I'm at the mercy of the AI. I grab and sometimes the AI can easily recover, sometimes it floats passively to its death. Sometimes the other four Miis ruin my asshole, sometimes they sit on the other side of the stage smash attacking.
>i found was to make it through the first 3 without using anything
yup, this nigga knows whats up. heres some other random attacks you should watch out for because for some reason, they send you flying farther allstar????
>first stage (greninja, lucina, robin, dark pit, shulk, wii fit trainer, rosalina and luma) (no recovery items obviously)
shouldnt be too bad, just spam whatever smash attack/attacks your character has. most of the stages you get here will most likely be flat for walkoff KO but be careful
things to look out for:
KEEP an eye out for robin, if you leave him alone, hell charge his thunder move and randomly snipe you when youre open
watch out for shulks counter, it hurts a lot in this. lucinas and greninjas counter dont hurt as much
>second stage (lucario, ike, zero suit samus, toon link, bowser jr, olimar, villager) (no recovery items)
second stage isnt that bad, a lot of the caracters here are lightweights or middleweights (only ike is heavy)
i really dont have much of a problem in this stage but except olimar forward/down smashes out of nowhere depending on pikmin. watch out for the stage selection really
My roomate and I do it 2p every now and then. Both of us using Palutena with holy light, we get about 700 per run. Sometimes 800 if we're lucky. Or well, that's what our combo is at least.
Are you guys literally autistic? Most higher challenges are pure trial and error/luck based shit, either this or just fucking exhaustung and the opposite of fun. Especially those that want you to the same fucking mode with every single character. Classic Mode, for example. Easy as fuck, have to do it with every character on 7.0. Easy but still annoying and frustrating because items literally get spammed in that mode and you often have to fight seven enemies on a chaotic stage which is just fucking terrible, especially if you have bad eyes and aren't playing on a 120" screen.
If you have cleared all challenges without having used at least three hammers, you're literally autistic and this is your mark, the proof. Have fun showing it off to everyone.
You used hammers because you're not an autistic piece of shit. Most challenges are fucking terrible and not even challenging, just exhausting and luck based. Hammers are there to be used.
Here you see an autist.
>Pokemon League, Mario Circuit 8 and Luigi's mansion especially, holy fuck
These are all good, tolerable stages. Try being less of a homo. If you want awful stages, look there's always Wily's, Orbital Gate, Pac Land, Great Cave Offensive, Jungle Hijinx, and Flat Zone X.
Wily's would have been good if that fucking monster didn't get in the fucking way all the time. Flat Zone would be OK if it weren't for constant and powerful stage hazard bullshit. The rest are just inherently shit.
forgot to add in the second stage, also watch out for a random villager forward smash, that hurts a lot in this too
>third stage (ganondorf, shiek, jigglypuff, charizard, pikachu, diddy kong, ness) (no healing yet!)
this is where shit will hit the fan, get ready
things to look out for
shieks weird bomb, that will suck you in and KILL YOU. if youre at lower percents itll send ya flying and at high % its an instant death. its one of those attacks that just hurts in allstar
charizards forward b. when you see charizard come in, try to stay close and eliminate him ASAP, if hes far away/within some distance he will do his side b out of nowhere and gg
get ness out asap, he has 2 attacks (3 if youre dumb enough to stare at his pk flash) that will send you flying. if youre within sweep distance, ness will forward smash and if youre up close he will toss a yoyo, the yoyo hurts a lot in allstar
pikachu/diddy kong/jiggly/ganondorf arent much of a threat if you get rid of them quickly, especially pikachu
Lemme clarify: those stages are a pain in the ass when playing All-Star on Hard and ONLY then. I love them at all other times. (I hate MC8 and LM because it's a pain killing the enemies on certain parts of the stages because they tech perfectly every fucking time they hit a surface. Pokemon League sucks in AS because of the fucking Metal phase.
Also, I disagree with your statement that GCO is shit. It's not a GREAT stage, but it's decent because of the Danger Zones that make killing within a reasonable period of time actually feasible. Plus it has an awesome music selection.
>4th stage (meta knight, falco, fox, wario, king dedede, kirby, sonic) (heal accordingly because this next fight tough too)
most of my deaths in 4th stage honestly were p much stage hazard (warning, GAMER might get picked here) but combined with some annoying characters that jump nonstop, have amazing recoveries, and some are fat it might be tough
things to look out for
falcos laser from afar. not painful but its flinch will leave you open a lot
fox up or side smash
dededes gordos (if hes far) and smash attacks if hes near
kirbys and sonics forward smash
I see you're doing quite well, friend. How about I give you a lift?
>Pro tip: You can use counter on Crazy Sword's move where it separates into many blades and then the final blade goes down.
>playing as Ike
>Master Edges and Beast both die in 4 Smash Counters
>Close Combat makes it so Shadow literally can't touch me
Anyone that doesn't know to use counters and charge attacks w/ horizontal movement in that fight deserves the loss
>5th stage (captain falcon, yoshi, dr. mario, marth, mega man, palutena, pit) (heal accordingly)
you can take a breather from before, cause this ones not that hectic
things to look out for
your high priority target is megaman. if left alone, he will randomly shoot his forward smash. charged or uncharged, itll hurt and itll kill you in allstar
marths tipper. they dont send ya flying as much but that damage just racks up
palutenas counter, if you have a smash attack spam happy character be careful near her
Is this a joke? Why does the game force you to use characters you don't enjoy to do luck/GNR based, unfair shit all the time? To do it with everyone on normal difficulty would be OK.
I swear, all those challenges are so fucking retarded. You have to be literally autistic to do all of them and never use a hammer. Completely ignoring them would be the best, though.
Best part is when you've already done something that took days and hours and then unlock the challenge and have to do it again with some different settings. For example, the first thing I did was clearing Classic Mode with every character on 5-9. Then I unlock the challenge that wants me to do it with everyone on 7. Now I wasted like one week of my life. Could have done it on 7 in the first place if I knew it.
The lack of healing items is only a problem at the very end and even then one player just has to play keep away while the other does their normal thing. The increased damage output plus distractions for the AI far outweigh the healing item con.
This so much. While I don't hate items now, I always loved them and thought they just belong to the game like the % mechanics or jump'n'run part (so I always kinda hated FD). After having cleared almost all the challenges, I basically never play with items on whenever I can choose.
I don't even know how retarded people must be to do all the challenges without even using hammers. They're so terrible.
>that feel when you almost beat the 8 stock cruel challenge
No, it's not. It's luck/RNG based. You're fighting a CPU enemy in a fucking fighting game. Sometimes they just dodge and counter all of your attacks since they can read your inputs, then sometimes they just run straight into your smash attack.
It's a retarded challenge for autists with too much spare time if anything.
Didn't know some can't beħammered. Is the "do All Star with everyone on hard" one of them? Because I think this is the most exhausting, autistic and retarded one only mentally disabled people will do although they can use the hammer for it.
>6th stage (samus, zelda, link, bowser, peach, r.o.b., duck hunt) (heal accordingly)
this stage doesnt look hard on paper but ive died so many times thanks to samus alone and sometimes zelda
things to look out for
samus charge shot. the moment the match starts, kill her asap. ive died countless of times trying to kill link and zelda when the match starts only to get killed by samus who is just waddling around in the back with her charged shot ready to be unleashed
zeldas up b and side b. same applies to zelda if shes not in a fight, shell spam her side b and it hurts in this. SOMETIMES shell surprise you and just suddenly appear with her up b and kill you
peachs forward air. shes pretty easy to get rid of but out of nowhere shell just forward air you and it hurts
That's great. Haven't even unlocked all challenges. Is there one that's equally bullshit? Already did the 8 points cruel match with Lucina one. Pretty sure I can beat Classic Mode on 9.0 with a bit of luck against that trial and error Dark Souls/Namco shit tier boss, too. Anything else?
If any is having trouble with the event match where you are Game & Watch and Duck Hunt, have the Game & Watch player spam bacon while Duck Hunt tanks.
As long as Game & Watch stays on Duck Hunt's ass, you keep your heads down so you don't get oneshotted by the stage, and you both keep Duck Hunt between Game & Watch and the enemy, you can basically let them come to you. The bacon flinches them when they rush in which sets them up for charged fsmashes from Duck Hunt.
Pick as related as I can get when talking about a 2d shadowman playing
Just backthrow spam
>doing anything grindy before you've unlocked the whole board
>fuck, doing ANY challenge before checking if there isn't an identical challenge you could be doing at the same fucking time
You done fucked up
Well, then do this for like two minutes. At least two of them should have killed themselves until this point. If all the enemies are at 110 stop doing the up+b shit and just let them run into your side smash attack. Or neutral b.
>You done fucked up
You know you can't see all challenges at the beginning? Only... one? And I also couldn't know the team that was working on that game is this fucking shit. Brawl didn't have such terrible challenges. Most of them are luck based or get rehashed all the time. I definitely blame Namco here. Especially for that trial and error Dark Souls shit boss in Classic Mode. Brawl SSE final boss was hard but actually fair. This new one is definitely Namco's doing. Pure dog shit.
Besides the grinding ones, maybe just beating classic on 9.0 without losing a life. There's also one for beating classic on 9.0 with Marth under 12 minutes and beating all star in solo on hard with Duck Hunt. If you haven't seen it, beat classic on 7.0 or higher with all characters.
Maybe he just doesn't enjoy doing the same thing over and over again? And you don't get good fighting CPUs, never. Not even remotely. Worse, maybe.
RNG is a legit complaint, too.
>You know you can't see all challenges at the beginning? Only... one?
Doing hard shit first
Doing a variety of modes instead of grinding out just one and praying you get all the challenges in that mode in that grind
Uh, haven't unlocked the "beat Classic Mode with Marth under 12 minutes" challenge yet. But the "beat it with only one life" one. Good you told me. Otherwise I'd have done the other two 9.0 challenges with Ike, then unlock the third one and be upset as fuck that I haven't done the other with with Marth. God, this game is terrible when it comes to this. I have to finish what I started, though.
forgot to add peachs forward smash. they all hurt a lot in allstar for some reason
>final stage! (little mac, luigi, donkey kong, mario, pac-man, mr. game & watch) (use everything!)
the final stage ISNT that bad and to me, its the easiest surprisingly but i have died some times thanks to me not paying attention to the stage sometimes (flatzone and delfino comes to mind)
things to look out for
while little macs attacks DONT really hurt in allstar, get rid of him quickly before he builds up that meter. you got this far, dont risk it!
luigis when hes up close to you. hes will literally up b you and hes waiting
marios foward smash
pac-mans full charged b (key). pacmans not so hard to beat in this but that key hurts. dont let him ever get that
game & watch isnt a threat unless he gets a 9 :^)
congrats, you beat this bullshit in hard and without dying once hooray!.
now do it with everyone
>all these HD models of FZero and Megaman characters that will never be used in any other game
If you need internet to enjoy a game it's shit. Melee wasn't shit. Can't remember Brawl that well but I'm sure it wasn't that shit when it comes to challenges and trial and error/luck, except for tripping.
Well, at least the online mode is great and completely lag free like SFIV.
>If you need internet to enjoy a game it's shit.
If you need the internet to keep from being a blathering retard and wasting hours of your life doing meaningless bullshit that you're going to have to do over anyway, you deserve what you get.
>Use Diddy Kong and get 3 or more KOs on your rival in a single Rival Smash.
THIS PIECE OF SHIT DODGE EVERYTHING
Why is everyone talking about home run bats? How you get it in crazy challenges? Does it always drop? Or do you get it by customization? Is there a good way to find it if you don't own it yet?
What's that? You wanted to get back on the stage?
Thanks anon, but we know that. Some challenges are just pure bullshit and way too luck based. If you do all of them without even using one hammer, you can literally just kill yourself.
I didn't think that would count.
I've been clearing all star with everyone on hard and i'm almost halfway there. I've also noticed some of the stuff you posted too in the battles. Good primers brah.
I don't even know what your point is here, however, no need to defend those terrible challenges and luck based shit in that game. No one even said it's Nintendo's fault in the case you'#re a Nintenyearold. It's Namco's doing. Sakurai was busy with balancing.
Is it a speed, defense or attack one? I'll check it out later if I have one.
I even struggle to get further than 12 in crazy mode, but I totally forgot you can use custom characters in that one.
At least the AI can't hit the wind back at you.
Also, fuck the Galaga boss and the AI's bullshit aim.
>three way match
>AI 1 throws Galaga boss
>goes high into the air
>AI 2 hits me toward AI 1
>AI 1 hits me up next to Galaga boss just as its doing its loop
>grabbed by tractor beam near the top of the screen
I'm not defending the terrible challenges and luck based shit.
I'm defending the
>you can't see the whole board to begin with
You were a fucking retard for grinding out Classic 5.9 with everyone without bothering to take the steps to determine whether or not you were wasting your fucking time.
They're fucking called challenges, why the fuck did you think you'd only need 5.9?
Why the fuck didn't you do less grindy challenges to fill out your board?
I know for a fucking fact you can reveal the whole fucking board without doing one fucking
>with every character
challenge or any of the longer challenges.
You were a gibbering halfwit for grinding out 5.9 and while the challenges do have plenty of faults (grinding out 10, hats and specials not being removed from the spawn pool, AI difficulty being way too damn high for some of the hardest challenges), that you can't see the whole board is not one of those faults.
So, which one is the worst stage? Is it the F-Zero one witht he light speed randomly hopping shit cars everywhere that also go through platforms? Or the new Pokémon stage with the swords which is just goddam terrible and un-fun?
Why did they scrap the Wind Waker stage anyway? It was unique, wonderful to look at and so Toon Link had something, too. Definitely better than the SS or TP stage.
So, something I've been wondering about for a while...
The challenges that're like, "Clear 10 man multi-man smash in 25 seconds or less with every character", or "clear all star on hard with 8 characters", etc... Does clearing those on co-op count? Slogging through the tedious hell of doing 10 man smash with 50 fucking characters will be infinitely less painful if I can just do it with four characters at a time.
>Beat Classic on 9.0 difficulty as Marth in less than 12 minutes
>mfw I suck at Marth and still managed to pull it off on my first try
Can you die when getting at least comet smashed into the water? This would make this stage perfect. Otherwise it's still pretty good. Dodging the cannon balls is what I consider skill based rather than luck based.
Holy shit, I totally forgot that shit. Instead we got the fucking TP bridge? And that terrible floating platform SS stage? What is wrong with those guys, exactly?
There won't be any DLC except for Mewtwo. And they already gave all the Wind Waker music to that terrible SS stage.
Knowing Sakurai, they'll probably put in Mewtwo and nobody else. For christ's sake, they already said they have no plans to do any balance patching at all anymore, so they probably won't do anything outside of Mewtwo.
Eastern game development DLC usually only involves like 1 or 2 things and that's it. When they make something, they make it. Not make it because "DLC is a thing". I'm pretty sure Nintendo wanted to take advantage of the holiday rush for the Wii U, so Smash had to come early and I blame that for Miiverse stage and other things not appearing.
use reverse throws to get +1 KO each time; as long as it's done right on the edge of the stage, the Mii won't recover
also use the down-special counter
All Star Hard isn't 9.0 CPUs thankfully
credits wall is super easy meighty, try using pikachu's downspecial or G&W's down air
Going through all the 3DS challenges made me despise this game and regret ever buying it.
>Total playtime: 50 hours
>Solo playtime: 46 hours
>Smash playtime: 2 hours
>Two hours of staring at the menu
And I haven't finished them yet
Why even do the challenges if they weren't fun? Are you a masochist?
I just played enough to unlock the characters and then shifted to playing online. Who gives a shit about trophies and glorified cheevos?
>anytime you get first dibs at a smash ball
>takes 17 trillion fucking hits to activate
>anytime an ai gets first dibs at a smash ball
>takes 2 hits to activate
No seriously, fuck this shit.
so they should still be releasing it if they have shown it off. it will prob come with a patch when mewtwo is released. and if you believe there wont be at least 1 more patch to fix problems with implementing mewtwo, then you are a dummy
>and if you believe there wont be at least 1 more patch to fix problems with implementing mewtwo, then you are a dummy
jpn devs' patches tend not to be as sloppy as western devs
>Just trying to collect CDs
>That one Metroid challenge in Smash Tour
>Assume it means just catching one
>Eventually do it with two extra controllers
>Look back at board
>You have to get hit by one, then get to it on the other side of the board before anyone else can to retrieve it
>Use a hammer on it
It wasn't even a remix.
Any tips for 8.0 Classic? That's the only CD challenge(s) I have left.
>can do most of the characters in All Stars on Hard
>Mega Man took a while, but did it by spamming Usmash
>fucking Olimar is impossible
How the fuck do I do All Stars with Olimar?
>That Dr. Light trophy that has Mega Man's real name as "Mega"
Am I a fool for believing they will add more stages with a patch? Seeing as they made Woolly World so quickly, I'm certain stages take less effort than characters.
Just imagine it.
>Mario stage based on Bowser's Castle
>New Zelda stage based on Wind Waker HD (hell, make it Pirate Ship HD)
>New Pork City with revised platforms for 8 player smash (or Magicant port - whichever's easier)
>Pokemon stage based on Distortion World from Platinum or Mt. Silver with Red watching the fight
>F-Zero stage - either a Big Blue port or the SNES Mute City from 3DS
>Mario Bros - now with wraparounds like Balloon Fight so matches aren't as one-sided
>A fucking hazards switch
>Seeing as they made Woolly World so quickly, I'm certain stages take less effort than characters.
I'm pretty sure Nintendo has been jumping on the Smash train to be a more productive marketing tool
>Friends are all tourneyfags
>They're all learning dash dancing, perfect pivoting, etc
>i'm collecting trophies and doing challenges
I'm prepared to get fucked in the butt for the next few weeks until I can finally get some practice in.
All I really got left is the stupid RNG bullshit challenges, the ones with the hats, moves, CDs, and Metroid.
I also got that dumbass 300,000 coins one, how the fuck was I supposed to know I needed to hoard those things? I just wanted to collect trophies.
I'm trying to conserve my hammers for tedious bullshit I don't feel like investing my time into, already spent two on All-Star Hard with every character and Marth 9.0 intensity.
I only have the top left one left, Classic on 9.0 without dying.
I got to the hands the other day, starting hitting crazy hand, then master hand did that fucking wind move. I was Ganondorf, I had no chance, guess I have to stay on the right the whole time next time.
I'm just not that good with Marth
or rather, Lucina, so I just figured I'd rather try to conserve what little amount of coins I have and try to deal with 9.0 with either Ganondorf or Shulk, they both rekt 8.0 pretty good, and I know what I'm doing with both of them.
I'm not good with him either. I just spammed forward smash. If you're in need of coins, do the get "8 fever rushes in Trophy Rush as Dr. Mario". It gives you 100k gold. Another ways of earning money is by doing Crazy Orders and choosing the easy tasks. Choosing the money icon at these amount of orders give you like 4k gold each.
I did the Doc one already, do Challenges stack like Brawl did? If so, it'll make that 300,000 coins shit so easy street
and it'll give me a buffer so I can suck at 20 Orders with Mario a lot less.
I personally used them for things that I don't see as fun. If completing classic with everyone was still a challenge, I would do it. But Allstar? Yuck, 8 is enough. Level 9.0 classic as Marth? I can't play the guy, and don't really want to. I did it without dying once as Mario, and without customs as Ness just fine.
I'm on the fence about using my last one for Mii Hats or moves. Probably hats, since having moves would actually be nice. But we'll see, I may just keep it.
Use a custom Mario. I suck with him too but with custom bat/quick swing I'm clearing orders literally under 5 seconds.
And yes, they do stack... if you mean you can clear multiple challenges in one fell swoop (AKA, Play as default Marth and clear Classic in 9.0 and without dying once). Clear 3 challenges in one game right there.
No, what I meant to say was that if I knocked Doc out already, can I go for it again to get the 100k coins again? Brawl had a stacking thing where if you did a challenge again, you'd get like an extra of the sticker for that challenge.
Oh, no. but if you need money, seriously go to Crazy Orders and complete with the bat and choose only the coin prizes when they appear. After like 15 or so turns, all the coin labeled tickets will be like 4k each. You don't even have to use Mario either (unless you don't have that Challenge cleared yet). If you have the bat/quick swing badge for a character, anyone can use it.
Oh, no I don't believe so. But I suppose I haven't tried.
I went from 200k to 400k in about 2 hours or so of just betting on spectate. Go for those 10.0x win rates on untested teams.
I got a custom set on Mario already, but no bat badge to my name, so I've been trying to beat that shit legit and it's not fun. I can get up to about 18 before I get my ass reamed by the CPU.
I'm assuming the bat's a random drop, so I'll probably go looking for it later and equip it to Ganon to coin farm.
Master orders let's you aim for them. or just do Smash tour at light speeds and get loads of random shit. I once got 5 passes in one round of Smash Tour. Instead of, you know, something I wanted like new moves.
You can easily go to Master Orders and see if one if offering a ticket.
I've gotten a handful of tickets from Smash Tour trying to clear some of the challenges related to it. I wasn't aiming for tickets though, so...
I think it's pretty fun in between bouts of furious rage. Like Mario Party. It ain't my favorite mode by a long shot, but I'm a little surprised it's so vehemently hated. People don't actually play it for serious, right? You can't be mad you lost in Smash Tour, right? It can go by quick, too. And if you REALLY hate to lose, connect 4 controllers and win each fight for free. Easy way to get the 10 fighters achievement.
I completed the challenges and hammered all the more grindy ones too, except for "Beat 9.0 without customizations", I used that hammer on the ono about grinding Trophy Rush, because it wasn't fun and I'd all trophies since a long time ago.
