What does /v/ think of it? I've already backed for it and it has been living up to its promises so far.
>B-BUT IT'S STILL ALLPHHHAAAA
They can't even get the ships to not handle like flying bathtubs in arena commander by now. not to mention their animation system is STILL fucked
But they have plenty of time to keep making new hundred dollar ships to sell to the reddit pcmaster race crowd. of course.
>living up to its promises so far.
DO NOT LISTEN TO OP
HE HAS INVESTED HUNDREDS AND HIS REALITY IS WARPED.
EVERYTHING THIS SHITSTAIN ORGANIZATION HAS RELEASED HAS BEEN SHIT.
MODELS ARE CONSTANTLY BROKEN IN RETARDED WAYS, PAYWALLS ALL OVER, NEW SUBSCRIBE TO TEST, AND THE SMALL MOON THAT MAKES THE WORST IDEAS AND HATES FREESPACE IS NOW PROMOTED TO GAMEPLAY DESIGNER
AND THE SMALL MOON THAT MAKES THE WORST IDEAS AND HATES FREESPACE IS NOW PROMOTED TO GAMEPLAY DESIGNER
Hahaha oh wow really?
>HEY SHOULD WE GO WITH THE TIGHT FREESPACE GAMEPLAY BUT IMPROVE ON IT?
>NAH LET'S JUST MAKE ALL OF THE SHIPS CONTROL LIKE SHIT AND BLAME IT ON THE COMPLEX MECHANICS OF OUR SUPER DOOPER COMPLICATED FLIGHT SYSTEM
Based on a fan made trailer; RSI added their own stuff to it. That said, the retarded dubstep and FPS footages ruined the trailer.
There's also more than just a dogfight module. Racing module is already out, and they are working on the FPS and planet side modules.
Not just that but it'll cost ~£50 on release.
Because it's worth it.
And more because apparently the fact that they have already been given all the fucking money in the world won't matter one bit, it just has to have a whopping price tag.
>sold all of my LTI ships to ledditors for $1800
>using the proceeds to build a new computer that will play Star Citizen extremely well
Yeah, that's why it's retarded to complain when it's in alpha. It's like looking at a half finished building and complaining it looks like shit.
>implying /v/ isnt full of sensationalist retards
>If you want to be a genius, it's easy: All you gotta say is, "Everything stinks." Then, you're never wrong.
This is what gets me. What's the point of racing if it's just the most expensive racing ship that will win? Like even if you try and supe-up a lower ship it'll still be slower than a more expensive one right?
>what kind of gimmick shit is this
it's fucking simple you moron. just make a map where everyone is on the same team, and you go through hoops. jesus christ how many AAA games have you played that makes you think any non-essential feature is a gimmick
I'm sure chris roberts will be able to make a fps game on par with call of duty and a space sim on par with freespace with the economics and political gameplay of eve online if I just give him my money he'll make all our vidya dreams come true.
Don't be fucking dumb. At best it's going to be freelancer 2. At worst it's going to be in the garbage.
why would you race a souped up prius in a formula one race?
it will be hella expensive to get to absolute best performance, and at that tier everyone will have souped up ships, so it's more down to skill.
Y'all niggas arguing with each other.
Anyone else happily exploring space on whatever it is your Space Sim of choice?
Pic related, about to deliver some cargo to that space station.
Y'all motherfuckers need to chill.
Yes lets delay the main game even further because gimmick shit is so fun.
Minigames in X:Rebirth was one of the main design problems, it gave a fucking arcade feel to the game that the series never had and never needed. The others were just-one-playable-ship, terrible interfaces, identical stations, need to dock at specifics places to buy goods, general watered down gameplay compared to X3, etc.
at least it has a game to go with it's bugs
I'm sure in 3 years you might have something resembling one, just hold on to that hope that your money hasn't been squandered.
Things have gotten a hell of a lot better since dogfighting dropped. Still a long ways off, but it's slowly getting there. 1.0 is completely fucked due to connection issues and server resets but that's to be expected of CIG.
u wot m8. More in depth modular swapping things is the new design goal. Engine tuning and part overclocking is supposed be a thing.
I'm enjoying Elite right now but it's kind of growing dull already. I haven't tried to really get into combat yet. Mining is tedious as fuck, exploring doesn't net you jack shit. Smuggling and combat are about the only thing that pay decently enough unless you find an exploit. It sure is huge, but you have to stick to starter systems to even find other players, and even then you can only really shoot at them. I'm a little disappointed so far.
How's the AI? Can you follow AI ships around the solar system or they just spawn near stations/on missions.
I like to chill on space sims, currently doing only cargo/taxi missions, but sometimes I like to just travel around with AI fleets.
Im giving Elite: Dangerous the 3 month wait o see if it doesn't die before trying it out, since it is "multiplayer focused."
It's mostly multiplayer in name only since it's basically a single player game with a required connection online. There is very little in the way of player interaction other than shooting them. Sending messages and grouping up is complicated beyond reason. There's no way to send a general broadcast out.
The AI is spawned based on players. They don't really have any meaning and they're a bit retarded. If a player leaves the system their spawned NPCs won't persist and will disappear. The worst part about it is when you get interdicted or are interdicting another player's AI. You just end up in an instance by yourself.
They promised to fixed the social stuff in January. If the game up and died the only difference would be the starter systems won't have players in them, which is the experience if you leave the starter/popular systems anyway.
Yea this was something I kind of "feared", I mean, these Issues would pretty much occur in any space sim if you try to implement multiplayer, I just thought they had a good "solution".
So you can't do shit, like make a "guild/fleet/faction"?
I am definitely gonna wait for this promising patch to try it out.
This, Most of the people on here talking about Star Citizen don't really know anything about the game and just repeat what they heard other people say.
I've thrown in about £25 and I feel like I've got my moneys worth already just from clowning around in Arena Commander and racing.
I honestly don't care if it goes tits up, the only people who will lose out are the retards who have pledged hundreds or thousands. Shitposters on /v/ like to use these 'whales' as a way of attacking anyone who has bought into Star Citizen, even though pretty much everyone here will only have pledged a tiny amount.
And absolute worst case scenario I don't think they can fuck up the singleplayer Squadron 42
Would be nice to have another cozy Starlancer, Wing Commander\ Freespace single player game.
My dream space sim would probably be a mix of Silent Hunter sim approach and space combat. Not saying stealth works in space, just using silent hunter simlike qualities but in a capital ship game would be amazing. Will probably never happen.
This, why the fuck no one try to make crew/interiors focused space games? Seems fun and comfy as fuck, the only ones that I know other than Star Citizen are indie low budget ones like Pulsar: Lost Colony, Rodina and The Mandate.
>This, why the fuck no one try to make crew/interiors focused space games?
There have been some.
System Shock comes to mind.
Yeah FTL is fucking great, but I mean big adventure ones, not roguelike. A X3-like game focused on interiors and crew would be 10/10.
Yeah I forgot to mention this one too. Also its not officialy cancelled, they said they'll work on it in their spare time
which means the thing will never come out, like Spacestation13 remake
>A X3-like game focused on interiors
Here's hoping SC turns out decent.
