Stranglehold was good but had too many "kill X enemies to open a door" moments.
Fuck I hate how third person shooters have become today.
It's nothing but cover based
Also dem facial expressions. I didn't expect how good they looked.
You fucking idiot, Stranglehold had a cover mechanic. There's nothing wrong with a cover mechanic as long as the combat isn't built around that. Since you couldn't even remember Stranglehold had one, we'll use that as an example of cover done right. It wasn't the focus of combat; combat was fast paced and almost arcadey, and cover was there if you needed it. Nine times out of ten I was running and gunning.
Binary Domain did cover right too by being another arcadey shooter with cover there when you need it. And you couldn't stay in cover for long because the AI was great.
Gears of War and ME2/3 are cover shooters done poorly. The game is built around chest high walls and the combat is tailored for cover.
But I like Stranglehold too.
It's a thousand times more fun than MP3.
>Gears of War
BS. Gears is the goat cover shooter.
>The game is built around chest high walls and the combat is tailored for cover.
What's actually wrong with that? Don't just say "chest high walls", what's specifically wrong with that?
Yeah, Guerrilla was great but this was one of the better TPS I'd played in a long, long time.
Man that game was fucking great, I hated the swamp level but the highway and airport were 10/10
>played the multiplayer part of the demo a whole bunch with friends
>we either betray everyone, betray each other, or bro out and get rich
Shit was so fun.
>Gears of War and ME2/3 are cover shooters done poorly
> Gears of War
> cover shooter done poorly
I fucking loved Stranglehold. I remember when the demo came out I replayed the first mission a couple times just to shoot while sliding on those food carts.
Granted, the novelty wears off later but it's a seriously underrated game. Not perfect by any means, but does not deserve being forgotten like it is.
>tfw I got the special edition with Hardboiled
Good luck finding something that isn't there then, I have it installed too.
WHOS THE RETARD NOW
