You have ten seconds to explain why you haven't played every game on this list.
Haven't played the sequel, but love the first game. 10/10
Awful trial and error "puzzles" combined with terrible camera controls. Original story, whatever. The story has no replay value since all the twists are given in the first playthrough, plus there's little to no difference outside the ending for each playthrough. 4/10
Great. Especially love the online. 10/10
Memegame loved because its "so bad its good" and also because muh twin peaks. 2/10
>Deus Ex Human Revolution
Didn't like it as much as I liked the original Deus Ex. 7/10
Pretty basic 2d hack and slash. 6/10
Have yet to play it.
Another memegame, but the online co-op is actually pretty good. I got it for a dollar so I can't complain that much. 6/10
>Fallout New Vegas
Personal GOTD so far. 10/10
Tried it once and never picked it up. Should try it out again.
Played it with my cat on my lap one entire night. Magical experience. No replay value though. 8/10
Pretty fun arcade-y indie title. 7/10
>Kid Icarus Uprising
Great everything except controls 9/10
>Metal Gear Rising
Hated it. Everything about the game was unlikable. I'll give it a 5/10 because I think that's a fair score, but my own personal experience with this game is much lower.
>Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate
Loved it. MonHun is always fun. 9/10
>Mount and Blade
Tried it once, but prefer Chivalry.
Haven't played it. I expect this is a memegame that's actually garbage to people who aren't storyfags or into dickgirls. Drakengard was the worst game I've ever played and this is apparently made by the director of that shit.
Haven't played it. Don't care to.
>Red Dead Redemption
Tried to play it for like 8 or so hours, but was bored out of my mind the entire time.
>Risk of Rain
Tried it once, but didn't really care at the time to continue playing it. Will pick it up again one of these nights.
Worst MegaTen game I've ever played. Awful story, awful additions to combat (give me press-turn or bust), and the dungeons didn't feel well-designed. 3/10
Have it, but haven't played it yet.
>Super Mario Galaxy 2
To be honest, I really didn't care about this when it first came out. I absolutely loved SMG1, but this sequel just appeared to be missing that magical charm of the original. I tried it out much later and now its my favorite 3D platformer of all time. 10/10
Waiting for steam sales to try it out.
>The Witcher 2
Played it for about 6 hours and enjoyed it for the most part, but the controls and combat were funky with a keyboard, at least for me.
One of my favorite games of all time. 10/10
Also one of my favorite games of all time. 10/10
>Look at all of these le funny comics I made
>Git gud git gud git gud git gud git...
>Mediocre fromsoft "rpg" shit that hasn't gotten better since the ps1
Fuck off cunt.
The bar for "Essential" seems to be incredibly low, which isn't to imply that I don't enjoy a good number of those games.
I think Dark Souls, Bayo, Deadly Premonition & The Witcher 2 might be the only ones i'd call essential and even Deadly Premonition is a stretch even though I love that game to death.
i got dark souls because my pal wanted to play it with me
it was pretty fun and enjoyable
i dont understand why the whole "DARK SOULS SO HARD" thing started and it kind of annoys me but whatever
it was good but like shit dude everyone obsesses over it
Nintendo's best 2D platformer since Yoshi's Island. Games don't need to redefine a genre to be worth playing.
>typical indie shit
You're pretty stupid.
A lot of good games have RNG elements in them and XCOM is very fair. Quit crying.
How about explaining why these games are "essential" in the first place. Most everything on that list sucks or is mindless male fanservice, save for maybe Fallout, Wasteland and Deus Ex. Those are probably the only games I would care to own.
>not including the most essential art game of the 7th gen
get a load of this pleb
Those are the bad games on the list though. And what do you mean fanservice? Bayonetta? The game in which the most powerful entity is an independent woman?
Or Catherine? The intensely hard puzzle game in which all men who cheat have nightmares in which they're gruesomely murdered by monsterous infants and lady parts.
Perhaps you're referring to Dragon's Crown? In which every character has grossly exaggerated proportions.
>I liked a mediocre game
>so I say it is essiential
>and I'm going to spam this image until people accept it
I like a lot of these games, but there isn't a single one that I would say any of them are great or that everyone should play them.
The Gamecube was pretty good. It may not have been the best console of its generation, but it was entirely worth owning.
Just play a GTA game and give your character a cowboy hat for the same experience.
>Nobody has said Dark Souls is hard for literally years
>Only shitposters ever bring it up anymore
You two are the only ones perpetuating that statement. Dark Souls is a 9.5/10, without a doubt though.
10 bucks if even that. Bayo 2 has both the sequel and the original.
Less than 10 bucks
Also less than 10 bucks
Probably around 20, maybe you can find it used somewhere for cheap
Under 10 bucks
Probably 20 - 30
Often becomes a buck on steam
Will probably be 15 on steam sale
10 on steam sale
I rented it from the library. I heard its pretty difficult to find.
Not going through the rest of the list, but the only real expensive one is Xenoblade and obviously any game that came out this year.
I see people with this mindset, and all I can think is that you all must look at vidya like an old man waiting for death. There is only the past to reflect on, and you have no more experiences left for you.
Learn to loosen up and like vidya again. They're really not evil, corrupt things out to get you, Anon. Just don't play shit like Dragon Age or Arkham, though.
it saves me money.
>buying a shita
>buying any of the new consoles
>implying Bayo and Bayo 2 aren't the most polished character action games ever
>implying Demon's / Dark Souls didn't invent a subgenre
>implying Sleeping Dogs didn't redefine the GTA clone
Seriously I don't understand how you fags eat shit up. Are you so impressed by muh upon world that you'd ignore the shit gameplay, shit level design, shit story and shit online? Not to mention the cops are so OP there's no fun allowed
>nobody said that
They said it, and to some degree it was meant, the widespread nature of it means even if it was serious or not, even if nobody has said it lately, that still qualifies it as a "memegame" under the previously mentioned standards.
For what? Being a sequel that did the same things that the previous game did but in many cases not as well? For having many numerous technical issues and oversights in animation, collision detection, physics, performance in general, movement, etc etc? Nah mate, nah.
I think I'm good OP.
Missing PSVita and Wii U games because I don't have either (yet)
A chunk of those aren't essential though. And a couple are shit.
I don't have a Vita
I don't have a Wii U
my PC is shit
Bet you fags also think Planescape: Torment is shit.
DS series is heavily inspired in Blade of Darkness, it's not like From invented the wheel with their games. They polished it, agreed. The other two games haven't redefined anything, what don't mean they aren't good.
Why woul I play all of them when so many are shit games?
It has enough gameplay to count as an unpolished cross between a beat em up and a shoot em up. And the QTE sim is actual part of the mechanics instead of hamfisted like in every other game ever that uses them.
