Generations was fucking garbage. All you did was push the boost button to win for every 3D level, the characters threw away any and all personality they had for the sake of "Only playable Sonic", the entire fucking premise of it was just to cash in on nostalgia, and the final boss fight was fucking terrible. the 2D segments were fun to play but I didn't fucking buy a 2D Sonic game.

Lost World? Nah. Lost World needed to be streamlined in regards to filler and the unnecessary extra bosses and characters awful. I loved the new system, though. Sonic controls exactly how I've always wanted him to control in a 3D environment, complete with double jump and momentum based platforming.

The way I see it is that Sonic games are very unique in the way they play. If you don't like that then there's not gonna be any changing your mind.

Alright, let me give you a write up. I honestly only played an hour and here's how it went:

I work with disabled children for a living, and for the last week I have been driving one of my clients, we will call him Pat, to GameStop to preorder this game. He's a functioning autistic, but not very high, he can communicate but he doesn't know how to read or communicate -correctly- at times. He doesn't understand his feelings. That might sound trivial, but read on.

We finally finished paying for the game, and the entire week I was trying to warn him. "Pat, don't do this, Pat, you can spend that money on way better things," but he wouldn't listen. We finally get home and throw it in his WiiU, and he asked me to play with him because he cannot get very far in games on his own. Right from the start, he somehow magically just manages to find every single glitch he possibly could. He fell through the floor on the first three loops, FIVE TIMES, he got stuck on a ring and we had to reset the system, and sometimes he would just pass right through enemies like they weren't even there. Finally, after he started getting a little upset, I turned it off and had him hold his cat to calm down. He looked down at his cat and back up at me, and said in a completely clear voice, "Anon, that was the worst thing I've ever bought."

This was the longest sentence I've ever heard him say, without lisp, without grunting, without hand motions. He knew exactly what he wanted to say and how to say it, because Sonic Boom was THAT FUCKING BAD.

I'm glad they keep changing it. Nothing says they can't go back to what worked or can't go back to something that didn't and improve it. If we just kept getting Generations-styled games we'd never have had Lost World. Say what you want about it, I think it was definitely a step in the right direction. Just work on that level design and cut the wisps and you've got a solid 8/10 game right there.
