>OCARINA OF TIME
Yeah! If you aren't talking about Xbox™ One® and the amazing abilities of the Kinect™ to play Call of Duty™ while snacking™ on Doritos® than you can go back to the other board, pally.
they have blast corps in there. if more people pay attention to it, it can only mean good things
i want to talk about blast corps now. fuck this thread anyways.
I have no idea how i played this game as a kid. shit was fucking tough. Fun as fuck, but fucking difficult
has anybody here ever beaten it?
>collecting video games
This is 2014, where pretty much everything is now available in a purely digital form. Why collect physical video games? Why not put all that effort in collecting something interesting instead?
like kidney stones
>printed in small numbers so they can hopefully slip under the radar
What a fucking moron. Japanese companies literally do not give a shit if people make hentai doujins of their work. Hell they fucking encourage it, to them it's free advertising.
I had kidney stones so bad that I just spent the past year having roughly 12 surgeries and 6 months with a tube sticking out of my back which was finally removed last month. All because I drank too much soda.
>tfw they will drive up the prices of already expensive games because it suddenly becomes "chic" to start collecting retro games.
Just fucking kill me now.
Does anyone have a screencap of that article titled "I get my fashion sense from video games (and you can too!)
>implying the ride didn't end years ago
I don't know what happened but recently prices have gone up everywhere.
I saw a copy of Godzilla Save the Earth in a glass case for 50 dollars.
The ride ended in 2008, man. Soon as Youtube started getting big prices have been skyrocketing. Collecting has turned into less of a hobby and more of an investment in the last several years. Glad I've been collecting since I was young and that I kept just about every game I've had as a kid, but still.
Good luck to all the young kids wanting to collect nowadays. You're sure as hell going to need it.
Like Patricia Hernandez, right? We were talking about her antics long before gamergate started. You are such a shill anon, what makes them saviors of gaming if they barely talk about video games?
>people tell me I'm retarded for fearing these
Where the fuck have you been? Old game prices have gone up drastically in the past 2 years. Plenty of hipster faggots have started hunting goodwill for the super rare Mario/Dunk Hunter cart, and selling their Mario 3 advance for $9340 on amazon and ebay.
It doesn't even matter, it's been way past the time where games were at a decent price. Only thing if they do mention I'd get mad about is if they say Genesis games are a good start because they are cheap making them rise up for a brief period again.
Guy who did the art for Valkyria Chronicles is a doujin artist, but Sega put some type of rule in his contract that he can't make doujins off of the game. He's probably boiling like a sex kettle, ready to release his steamen.
That's what I just said you dumb fuck. More people have gotten into collecting, but most of them are retards driving prices up because they don't know any better and have too much money to care.
Never sell your collection, unless you are starving/are close to bankruptcy. It feels good having that money at first, but you feel terrible afterwards. You'll eventually remember why you kept that thing in the first place and realized you sold off a bunch of good memories.
Early Kotaku was fun. Not good or professional but simply fun. Remember the night shift stories the east and west editor used to share? Remember the creepy ass story where they explained the ritual of the Japanese funeral? Remember the stupid conflict they got into because they revealed too much info before it was supposed to?
>Beginners guide to collecting games
Fucking bandwagoners and hipsters.
You dont need a guide to collect games. You also dont collect them. You just buy what interests you, and only sell them if you're an idiot.
collecting as a hobby has been dead for the past decade
as soon as everybody was on the internet, every casual fuck with games to sell googled a price list, then started selling their beat-to-shit, boxless, drawn on SNES carts for mint dollar
There used to be a time where you could walk into a flea market and just find a bin of old games the seller was just trying to sell, all for the same price. Madden or Secret of Mana, it didnt matter, he only wanted $5
>tfw local pawn shop is trying to Mario and dickhunt for $55
No reason for prices to go up like some things have over the past couple of years. Stop trying to legitimize the average idiot who thinks they struck gold with a copy of pokemon gold. (Not to mention the mouth breathers who buy pokemon carts for ~$30-40)
>super rare Mario/Dunk Hunter cart
>that shit is rare now
what the flying fuck i picked up that one for like 50 bucks along with wario woods and mach rider and a version 2 nes like 5 years ago, what is so special about it?
>selling their Mario 3 advance for $9340
holy shit wat
at this rate my already slim chances to get a ROB are going to shit because of these fags
i better convice my friend to give/sell me in a lower price his megaman legends 2 copy before they convice him to sell it to a ebay rape prices
>Need to get money for more games
>Sold GBC Atomic Purple in mint condition with Pokemon Yellow and Silver, perfect boxes and manuals
>Sold N64 with functional sticks, both Zeldas in mint condition with perfect boxes and manuals
I'm sorry for selling these, mom and dad.
Maybe he plays competitive
>mfw foreigners have been scalping all the retro game stores in Japan
So I guess I'll have to get my games VGAd in order to maintain my prices competitive.
If you want to be the most autistic picky guy,you could say that even Atari 2600 emulators have problems,in reality they are just very minor. For the 99,9% of the other people even a SNES emulator like bsnes is basically perfect.
I think I have before.
I owned an NES and an N64 and had them hooked up to a small black box TV before flatscreens were a thing.
I got into listening to music in FLAC and buying BDs over DVDs. Please give me a reason to go out of my way to play games on a CRT display
This is what eventually happens or you just get old and sad like those collectors of useless shit you see on the news every now and then.
>tfw got an n64 with mem pak, OoT, Majoras Mask, Golden eye, Mario 64, 2 controllers on goodwill for $35 last year.
And that was the last good deal I ever got on video games since.
Like I said, if you don't already feel the need, there is no need.
Not him, but you probably haven't played on a snes in awhile. Plenty of games have little glitches here and there. It bothers me, but for most its fine/don't notice.
Like, what do you do with this shit
It's just....stuff. Lots and lots of stuff. I keep the few games that mean a lot to me. I kept the Saturn and Dreamcast because I love them but overall
Shit, why did I need a bunch of forgotten shovelware genesis games.
Whatever. If that floats people's boats I'm happy for them.
I get a dozen ebay messages a week from rubes asking how I can guarantee my games are legitimate if I haven't had them slabbed
VGA must have a giant scrooge mcduck vault to house all their shekels
I do that too, I keep stuff that meant a lot to me back then or that evoke memories of playing with someone else. But I find it funny how 20 somethings collect atari or nes games, why? Because its nerdy and hip now?
I guess I just don't have that hoarder gene.
Its a v1 cart. I have one too. it also has the muslim chanting and islamic symbols.
Not super rare, just a first edition print copy of OoT. Theres like thousands.
still kinda cool.
it's better than that, Kamiya found out all the Bayo doujins had her as submissive so what does he do? he tells them "if your going to draw bayo fucking, she WILL be dom because of her character.".
I keep a modest collection of games I love, about 30 for each generation, no more, no less.
I've also found consolidating down cases for sequel games is really useful and eats less space: Ie: Super mario galaxy + Galaxy 2 in the same case
2 disk cases, or even multidisk cases are pretty damn easy to find too.
>Just checked Twilight princess for gamecube
>Scalper fucks actually want £70+ for used copies
It's not even fucking rare.
In short, yes. I can't tell you how many times women have come up to me saying this like "Oh gee, thats a real big book you got there" or "You must have big brain to read that" I keep the conversation going, talking about my stacks of hundreds of books I own, and it becomes obvious that they are eager to receive the d. I often bring them my master library and tell them to Alphabetize a few hundred books. They are so infatuated by me, they will do anything for me. After they have alphabetized the set of books I kick them out of my house. I could be drowning in pussy, but I have chosen this life of celibacy.
i've been doing flea market runs and shit like that since 1996, it's a horrible time to start collecting. unless you find this stuff from friends parents (ie, people in their mid 40's) it's going to be pretty damn hard.
depends on the area you are in (cities, don't even bother), if people even collect in the area and the reseller %. if there are retro stores, they more than likely will get most of what you won't. i hate retro shops, not all of them are bad, but one shop completely set me to "kill resellers" mode.
they took a copy of Valkyrie Profile, a pretty rare PS1 game (goes for almost 90 for just the disc) and gave the guy 5 bucks for it stating it had scratches on it. guy was happy because he looked rather homely and now had cash. Among other things he got about 40 bucks, but I wanted to burn the place down for not giving him at least half what it was worth.
first of all, what the fuck are you drinking?
I'm 38 and never had one of these.
>'Murica, not having free healthcare and having yearly scans for stones and if you get one you're gonna sound wave them and just pee some sand.
nothing past 6th gen will go up as highly in price like pre 7th gen games. everyone has a 360, ps3 etc etc and none of the games on it are so good they are classics, thus boosting the price or are super fucking rare like Panzer Dragoon Saga.
>local games tore
>Get to know the owner well
>He pays a fair price and barely marks up any of the games
>Local fuckers start staking the place out
>Buy up all the good shit and resell it on ebay or to the pawnshop
>Owner starts marking up prices for to prevent scalpers from making a profit
>lowers prices for the regular customers
Considering my area, there is no reason for such a good store to exist.
VGA is whack as fuck.
The rating system is entirely arbitrary, and rating only rates the packaging. Any opened game immediately gets a zero. They're not any authority on anything, just ignore the fuck out of any 'rating'.
Slow board, many part time posters(don't frequent the board/vidya boards often), and the lack of a pastebin to cover basic questions; At least until recently.
Also photograph fagging
>he doesnt keep all his games in a pile and throw out the cases
i dont do this of course but i have a friend that does and i weep...
Maybe on headphones.
But try it on a goof car audio, or home theater surround system.
You will realize the flac doesn't need to be turned up as loud, can go louder then the 320, and better base etc.
>He still watches VHS
>implying that shit doesn't already happen
I want you to look up how many results you'll find of EVO The Search for Eden, Keio Flying Squadron, Burning Rangers, Gotcha Force, Daze Before Christmas and Earthbound are on ebay and get back to me.
>Kotaku being anything other than trash
It's fucking stupid. I think I have only bought one game for more than its original retail price (with inflation) and that was Kirby 64 for £80 a couple of months ago. It now goes for £120+.
Somehow every time I go to a flea market I always get games for 5 bucks or lower. The rule I follow is if it is Mario/Nintendo related or a dedicated game stall, avoid buying it.
There was a time when this was the biggest complaint we had about shittaku. I miss those days.
v1.1 also has red blood and islamic chanting i think. not sure about the blood. there exist some gold v1.1 carts but they are very rare since gold was usually a pre-ordered OoT cart. v1.2 is the most common and is always gray
I don't constantly scrounge around flea markets or garage sales for a good deal but my mom fucking loves those things and occasionally I'll tag along and try to see if I find something good.
Literally the only thing's I've ever seen that weren't just sports games or licensed shovelware were super monkey ball for $5 and Super Mario World for $2.
Did get a gamecube for $20 once though so I guess that's nice.
> DRAGONS DOGMA, THE DARK SOULS OF GAMES IN THE SAME GENRE OF DARK SOULS
>Shin Megami Tensi IV - The Dark Souls of Persona Games
He was more offended that Bayo was out of character
so my buddy just got back from class and posted this in our skype group
i looked up the curriculum at their college and other kids in his class, they all say the same thing
fuck this gay earth. not gonna bother blocking out his name, but dont be a faggot about it. he apparently used to be a breddy cool guy
You should always just stick with one collection that means the most to you and nothing more, or at least make those collections moderate so you don't have clutter everywhere/
In regards to media, say you wanted games.
So in this situation
Physical collection of games
- Digital Movies
- Digital Anime
- Digital books
- Digital cartoons
- Digital comics
- Digital Toys
Pick one, interchangable. stay with only one. your life will be better for it.
that's because you aren't getting to your market while it is dead early and pitch black. in the first hour, you probably missed TONS of good games and will be left with dirt like sports games.
i leave dead early to get stuff like this, all this was 20 fucking bucks.
Posting this should be a bannable offensive. The art is so fucking horrifying Why does the Post op Paul McCartney have foot long side burns? Why are their faces rotting off? What the fuck is wrong with the guys eyes? Why is post op Paul wearing a raccoon tail on his head?
You're telling me?
It's fucking disgusting
He's decided this past year that he is
Nah man, that shit isn't just going to magically appear at these flea markets when you live in bumfuck nowhere. Especially considering all the ones around here have most every booth ran by the same groups of people for like, years at a time.
Besides if that's what it takes to save a few dollars I'll just stick to ebay.
Where's a good place that I can upload my until 140+ image folder of clickbait?
Founder of Rockstar.
Hideki Kamiya was in the top 30
>always thought people spelled womyn like that as some stupid in-joke
>it didn't even pass the spell check as I typed it right now
>decide to google it
It's already happening with current games. I sell shit online for extra cash and have bought plenty of games on Xbox 360, Ps3, DS, and 3Ds and sold them for profit Found Tenchu Z brand new for $13 and it's worth $50, sold a Cavestory for 3DS for over $100, also found some sealed copies of Velvet Assassin brand new, open it's worth shit but being an older 360 title I can't imagine that many new copies have survived, worth about $25 each while a used copy is only worth $5.
By the way, fuck TGWTG
i do live in bumfuck nowhere, i have ONE market close to me, all the others are an hour at least away and not worth the drive. I have had one booth at mine being ran by the same guy since 97 and he stopped in 2013 selling games, but i've found shit like contra force, hyperstone heist and power blade for $5 for less bucks.
this nes and TG16 stuff I got for $70 off CL, TG was free. it pays to ask people if they have shit, people forget that they have shit all the time.
>100 most important people in games
>Carmack not in the top three
>not even in the top 50
>random e-celebs are higher than him
I'm just really glad I learned long ago to not get angry about things like this since they're never accurate.
Gamecube collector here, all prices are horribly inflated. A local shop around here sells games like THPS3 for $20.
I used to be able to get decent shit at thrift stores too, now I'm lucky if I find Madden or some shit. It's suffering.
I can understand the hate, but it doesn't deserve a 3/10
at the very least, a 5/10
Sweet Splatterhouse, a new gamestore just moved into town and the guy has thousands upon thousands of games, safe to say at least 20 thousand. managed to pick up Steel Battalion, Outrun for both PS2 and Xbox, GrimGrimoire Dark Spire, and a few other rare titles for cheap.
I'd pay so much money for a 20 page doujin
Also, NoJ doesn't care much for Samus, as I've seen quite a few doujins of her
hell, its not even old shit, people are just dumb as fuck. i got those vitas for 125 each back in 2013
Just curious, what are some rare Gamecube games?
No, it's not satire. I was there when Kotaku posted that, and they were deadly serious about it. This was the moment I really realized that there was something very wrong with the website.
not luck, just spending lots of time at markets and looking on CL for shit. i went every weekend from april to november and looked on CL, so I don't get this shit all the time, but it does pop up. last 2 something weekends have been shit due to colder NE US weather.
Skies of Arcadia, Fire Emblem, and the Zelda collections. Thats really all I would consider rare. The only gamecube game thats actually rare is that pokemon transfer thing. Everything else is easily obtainable on ebay for the same price you will probably find elsewhere.
What about PSO 1&2 plus?
Anyone here an actual collector?
I collect handheld only from gameboy era onward. would post but at hotel atm.
Also how the fuck do people even mess up their special edition gba sp. So many pikachus on ebay with melted faces
I wonder what happens to collections like these once the owners pass.
>collecting games for Nintendo systems in 2014
Idiotic. The price of collecting SNES and N64 games is higher than it's ever been and somehow just keeps getting even more popular and expensive. So lucrative in fact that Goodwill has pooled all their video games from shelves and put them in a store to make ebay prices.
For some perspective: 6 years ago you could buy almost any N64 or SNES game for $10 tops. Today they average $40 and twice that on the high demand games. Whereas a system like original Xbox games are sold on average for $10 and $20 on the high end for games like Shenmue 2.
because I found a copy at a thriftstore for $3.
Also, someone told me that Paper Mario on N64 sold poorly because it was towards the end of the N64 life cycle, true?
Depends, where are you moving from, and is it by plane?
Because it's the title of the article. In a title you always captialize the first letter of each word.
>Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb (1964)
>needless to say, fuck neopets
HAHAHA! This is priceless!
you could get most non 1st party nintendo games for $10. you know mario games and zeldas were 30+ easy because of resellers and shit.
i've had someone tell me TO MY FACE that they were buying up the popular and rare games to sell for some nestegg BS. do stocks for that you faggots, leave games alone. also, a good amount of old man resellers (easily 55+) at my market, i want them dead
How much would a Kiosc Demo Disc cost?
weren't those Japan only?
I also remember that Nintendo sold Memory Cards that were SD compatible, but thats japan only.
Any console collectors here? Jap friend entered drawing for me and won. Any euros out there with a kyogre sp or could lock one down for me? would pay.
I buy and sell at flea markets. Go to garage sales, estate sales, sometimes buy and sell online. I've been able to consistently sell NES' for 90, every single show. I did get ff7-9 sealed for 60$ at a shitty mexican flea market last week though,
I also have one of these
that worth something?
I manged to get Pokemon Box Ruby & Sapphire complete in box from a local used place for $10 because it was mislabeled and the register biscuit had no idea what it was
>loose copies going for over $100 on ebay
The cables? I don't think so, but you could only get them through Nintendo's website.
They weren't big sellers anyway, as some of the later Cube models straight up dropped the component port.
