The M1 Carbine in Rising Storm gets a bad rap by just about everyone but I personally like it. It is ineffective compared to the Thompson and the trench gun, but I found it fun to use. You have to think of it like a big pistol rather than a little rifle.

In my eyes the UMP never felt more accurate than the others to begin with. I guess I just can't get used to the spread pattern.

Why would you ever want to run with machine pistols if Assault rifles fire just as many bullets and deal 2x the damage on range?

In most games, hipfire is so bad that even when the enemy is standing right next to you, you'd rather ADS, in which case the Assault rifles tend to be better than machine pistols even in close quarters.

So why are they underrated? They suck, they always suck. Vidya just can't emulate them correctly. There are some games like counter strike where you at least run faster with them.

Started maining the SSG08 about a month ago, holy FUCK this weapon is overpowered for $1700. I used to be real panicky with it but now I'm getting snapshots down pat, to the point where I can outgun pretty much everything with it.

Two shot kill at worst, perfectly accurate and easy to quickscope. Back it up with a P250 and you're stupidly deadly, get one giant spike of damage on a bodyshot and pepper em with pistol rounds while theyre freaking out (I really prefer just to get the followup shot with the scout though).

Headshots are obviously preferable when possible but you can be the absolute fucking devil if you learn to quickly and safely slam bodyshots with it.

AND ITS SO CHEAP.

Yeah, but in most games, SMGs suck in medium / long range combat as they should and assault rifles are great at it, but in close quarters, SMGs are usually hardly better than assault rifles. The SMG player stands no chance against the AR player in medium / long range combat, but it's usually pretty even in close combat, even though in a fair game, the SMG would have to dominate the AR.

In GO you run about even with the knife, and considering you get to run and strafe and jump at top speed while braking to slap >73dmg every second, it's still an insanely effective weapon for players who can maneuver with the map.

Its easy enough to top 3 in deathmatch with it, but in competitive the early game burst damage freaks people the fuck out and keeps lanes clear.

Irl, you look through the peep sight, not at it. You get a much wider aperture inside the sight. Why they show a big chunk of gun eating the screen instead of what you would actually be seeing is beyond me, either they dont know any better or can't figure out how to render the drastic shift in eye focus.

Insurgency handled it well by allowing you to hold shift to steady the gun and zoom further through the sights. Still not whats being described but it removes the limitation of the subject matter.

RO2 has the same exact feature. The problem is when you first bring up the sight it can be tricky to identify your target with a weapon with big blocky sights as opposed to a weapon like the Springfield rifle, which has really open sights.
