Imagine taking Crimson Skies and Mario Kart and putting them in one reasonably decent game. It's not perfect and the online is dead as one would expect for such an obscure title, but it's still pretty fun and at times intense.
Well. Unlike Door Kickers it IS 3D and it does have good graphics, and great art direction. It's not just a glorified flash game.

I don't know if it's doing poorly, but I've seen next to no discussion of the game on /v/. The little discussion I have seen is about memes, but in my 10 or so hours of playing I don't remember having seen any. The comedy is pretty bad overall, but the art style and gameplay are amazing. It's honestly a contender for my personal GOTY, though I don't think it has any chance of beating Tropical Freeze or Bayo 2.
I don't even own an Xbone, I bought the game to play with a friend on his last weekend and ended up loving it.

You pretty much know right away how to get to the other side but timing your jumps is the hard part.

I really like Zeboyd Games... games. They remind me of old school JRPGs but with better gameplay
2D platformer based on Norse mythology. Great story which tells lots of little tales about the deaths of heros as Lenneth recruits them for the battle in Valhalla. Excellent combat, amazing music, challenging, 3 endings (bad, good and perfect). Highly recommend a guide if you want to perfect it
Battlezone. A game released in 1998 and was somewhat popular at the time, but now it's virtually unheard of.
Wish I knew how to make WebMs, because I would show off some mean gameplay. Here's some high-level play, but you might want to skip around and watch different parts.
Crysis 3 is the only on-rails shooter I've ever really liked. Gunplay's tight, visuals are undeniably great, weapons have variation, and Psycho a bro. Story is pretty shit but idgaf.
Plus the multiplayer is dope as fuck.
Starsector, really fun top down sort of arcadey space sim. Think mountain blade but in space and with tons of customization options for your individual ships and fleet as a whole.

Never see anyone talk about this game, the first one is good too but I really like the grittiness this one had. Deserves more praise as a pretty cool open world game.
Gunfights in zero-g and 360° movement. Also some neat mechanics like the ability to turn your suit off, lose all control and sound but become invisible on radars.
Yeah, it's an almost inexplicable amount. I've been through every level multiple times with the different styles. I've even erased my save file a few times to start from scratch again. It's currently the only game in my Steam library that I've got 100% completion on. I don't know what it is, but I just really like it.
Also, Path of Nightmares master race. Gotta milk every point you can out of those guards for high scores.

This fucking game, man. It's about a tranny chick fighting to take down illuminati feminists. I haven't played it though it looks pretty cool for a 2d pixel platformer.
Toki Tori 2 is really good. It's a puzzle game framed within a fully explorable world (some may say "Metroidvania" although that's a little misleading since the game lacks proper power-ups and a jump button). The game tells you nothing beyond about a minute of explaining controls, and then leaves you to your devices to explore the world however you like. The game brilliantly teaches its more intricate mechanics to the player by showing or doing rather than telling, and it takes advantage of this to make the player feel like they're gradually learning more and more about how they can interact with the world by themselves. Incredibly good sound design makes the world feel relaxing, cheerful, and a little atmospheric to explore, and the art direction is easy on the eyes and cohesive.
It's probably one of my favorite adventure/puzzle games of all time.
It died because of the DirectX10 requirement at the time. Devs weren't jews, quite the opposite, there was a lot of patches and added content like maps, modes and weapons.
They even had a sequel planned.
But then they've been bought by the Angry Birds creators and they cancelled all their current projects.

Subnautica, I wouldn't recommend to buy it now since it's barely a game just out of the prototyping phase.
But it looks really solid, and knowing the guys who made NS2, I think I can have high expectations.
More people should really talk about D4. Its all the awkwardness and strange fun of DP without the shitty graphics or gameplay. Young has an awesome Boston accent and story looks very promising...

I'm not really done shilling for games, though, so here we go. Saira's also hella' good. If you don't know who Nifflas is, you better go play some Nifflas games right now. Knytt, Knytt Stories, Within a Deep Forest, they're all good.
Saira, though, is probably my favorite game from him. I love this game so much that I spent hours upon hours putting together a text-commentary for the game just so I could show it to people in a different way. It parses puzzles and platforming - platforming feels good, it's parkour-esque and the jump has a lot of weight to it. The puzzles are all very unique and some of them can be quite difficult. Art direction is stellar, mixing simple 2D shades of color with photos, and the music is wonderfully atmospheric. Game used to cost money, now it's free, you have no excuse not to play the heck out of this.
Oh wait it's already dead. Guess that's what you get for being a challenging FPS these days.
Got this off the halloween sale, and it's pretty fuckin cozy. Not that deep, but still a fun way to kill a few minutes.

I just wish that Missiles weren't so fucking useless. They didn't even try to balance them throughout all three games.

It's Binding of Isaac's high octane brother with a fantastic soundtrack, fast paced gameplay, and a huge selection of characters.

Sure, it's practically abandonware by now and battlezone1.com distributes it, but Activision still owns the rights to the game. Distribution of the game is still a grey area. The programmer of the game still maintains it and he doesn't allow links to it on his website calling it "warez".
Gunpoint. It's a little on the short side (4-ish hours if you aren't going for 100% completion) but the gameplay and writing is rock solid. Genuinely fun and genuinely funny.
Normal price is $10 which is kinda iffy, but don't hesitate to get it if it drops below $5
Strider 2014 was a really good game, only problem is being too easy even on Hard.

Stonehearth. Currently running in alpha and controls like ass but otherwise passable. Picked it up for about $10 like around a year ago and still waiting for the roadmap to be completed.

Gurumin. It's a action platformer where you play as a loli with a drill to save a bunch of monsters.
There's also unlockable outfits and hats that grant different abilities. On PSP/Vita, and was greenlit for Steam a while back.

I know it's a bit old, but Xenogears.
The first disc is a masterpiece of Japanese RPG game design; the combat system, the story, the character art, the environments, the music--all of them come together so well. The plot is dense and thick with allegory and symbolism; the characters themselves are well fleshed out. The journey lasts around 80 hours, most of which are fucking exquisite examples of great science-fiction storytelling in an interactive medium.
It's bold as hell. It's wonderful. The second disc, however--is kind of a catastrophe.
The story is great throughout, but the game is communicated via long expositions and narrations, interrupted by brief battle sequences. This is probably because funding got gutted after FF8.
Please give it a play. It's a wonderful game and, despite the failing of the second disc, deserves to be played.
I enjoyed Fly'n until the Metal tree.

Of course the game has its shit parts, but it gave me emotions.
Gunvalkyrie. It's one of my favorite games of all time, but nobody played it because it came out on the dudebro console. The reviewers and dudebros hated it because they tried to play it like Halo, when it's instead one of the craziest and most stylish third person shooters out there.
Imagine Vanquish where you can fly. Now imagine that in a setting where you have maybe 2 seconds of actual jetpack fuel. So the way to fly is by performing a continuous series of flips and acrobatics to stay in the air, and you can complete every level without ever touching the ground, all while shooting masses of enemies with a lock-on system similar to panzer dragoon.
Oh, and it's by the same guys who made Jet Set Radio. Fucking incredible game.
Shame there's not a single good video of gameplay footage.

If there's one thing I hate, it's how the gun jump and standing boostjump completely broke the flow of the game.
I'm not saying it's not impressive, it is, but it was much more fun when all the best times were more about going fast as fuck and less about skipping half the levels.
I kinda stopped playing when these tricks became the norm. I'll still come back for the next dlc though.
It was the Swan Song of THQ, which makes me sad. It's an excellent action game with some great mechanical additions to the DMC combat style and I really just enjoyed the hell out of it.
I really wish they hadn't released the prototype.
Underwater games are kind of my favourite thing, and Subnautica looks like quite literally everything I desire in an underwater game.
Then they had to release to barely playable prototype, I want to play it, but I know it will damage my hype for the final release.

Mechs are an overrated concept entirely, which is part of why this game went nowhere.
I say this as someone who grew up playing gundam, mechwarrior, and armored core games. You have an idea in your head of what they can be, and the gameplay itself usually never fillls the void.
There's quite a few games that pull of mechs well. The problem is titan fall felt more like
Call of Duty feat. Gundams from the Gundams may cry series.
Like the mechs didn't really impact the game at all, they were just there as an afterthought.

What about the A-Train series? Those are games where you build trains and the city takes care of itself, and from there you just get to watch the cities and the trains. One in particular was great for that, A-Train 4 or 5 I think.
The Dog Island is a solid Wii/PS2 game (I've only played the Wii version but the PS2 one shouldn't be much different aside from different controls). You basically play as your choice of giant-headed dog on a quest to re-enact The Land Before Time IV. Has some surprisingly mature moments sprinkled therein but is largely just a calming and comfy game to play. Good soundtrack accentuates the experience and ups the comfiness. I found it through some guy who was streaming good obscure Wii games once upon a time on /v/ several years ago. If you want a comfy dog rescue adventure, then give The Dog Island a shot.
The writing in this game was atrocious but fuck me if I didn't have a great ass time kicking niggas off high into the air and then blowing their brains out. It's too bad that the online got taken down
I don't like PlatinumGames stuff. Their products always feel like plastic bags being violently shaken about by one's arms. They make a lot of noise and might look cool, but you sooner or later realize that they're totally weightless and empty.
It was still fun and I just want to see how others can alternate on the Souls formula.

A little bit each of MadWorld, Vanquish, and W101. I've also watched a good amount of Bayo and Anarchy Reigns if that amounts to anything. Never had a very solid experience with any of them. I know Bayonetta is well spoken of, and the game has a ton of heart in it, so if the one guy I know buys the sequel then I'll give it a try. I have low expectations though, purely based on past experience.

The modding community is just starting out and things are already getting done, enemies from the previous title are being modded in, completely new assets are everywhere.

I'm not here to shit on opinions but the game lets me down. I'm all for robot mech titan whatever battling but the things just feel so unsatisfying. I don't feel like I'm in an engine of war but rather just in a slightly bigger me that cant run on walls. the on foot gameplay was neat and I'm all about futuristic shooters but nothing really felt like it had a good punch to it.
Pic related, though flawed, is one of my favorite PS2 games. It's just so creative and simple fun. I love all 12 boss fights, and the music and art are incredible. People complain that it's too short, and that it's not a full game. That's really pretty much true, but it doesn't need to be. As it is, it's one of the best unfinished games around.

I realize EVERY game is fun with friends/drugs, but Guerrilla is perfect for being inebriated with your substance of choice and wrecking buildings for a couple hours.
Honestly yeah. The base game is still amazing and quite long, and the base post game content (the randomized dungeons and sidequests) are still there that can squeeze you out at least 10 more hours, more if you want to grind on different classes.
