>>270417751 >They care more now than on the Wii are you stupid? As if that was a lot better seriously, they're only appealing to the real fans right now that the casual audience flipped them the finger
>>270417501 No, because Windows is controlled by Microsoft and they're determined to turn it into shit just like the Xbox.
The real only option left is to follow Valve, GoG, and all the game companies heading to Linux. Its a minority platform that most AAA brovelopers have no interest in, the general public is afraid of and so there will never be any casual users. Its exactly what /v/ claims to have always wanted, a platform just for the hardcore.
>>270418348 Nintendo is simply drastically slow on information gathering. This is a legit problem they have. Literally nobody can argue that the Wii U wasn't made with the Wii motion audience in mind. It took till January 2014 till they realized that those casuals moved on. THAT LONG to realize that wii motion is dead, and you can't depend on it anymore.
They always did. That doesn't mean they abandoned weebs in the process. PS2 was a GTA dvd player but that didn't stop them. The Vita is making them realize just how fickle dudebros are. Weebs are a safe investment.
>>270417501 >Nintendo no longer cares for their core audience They've always cared for their core audience. Hell, that's the only people they've been selling too for the last few decades. Only during the last gen did it become all NINTENDO DOESN"T LOVE ITS CORE! cause apparently being successful means they threw those people under the bus. The wiiu showed that they didn't give a fuck cause they COMPLETELY fucked the world with the controller, lack of hd space cheaping out on disc based media playback and sunsetting the STILL SELLING wii. Fucks sake they could have broken the piggy bank put in dvd playback in the fucking thing and sold multicolor wiis with smash, wii sports, mariokart/xenoblade/just dance and a disney/pixar/spongebob cartoon. Would have owned christmas last year.
Theire hubris completely ruined their lead. Even worse they were too goddamenend stupid and cheap to defend themselves from the worlds best black pr campaign.
They're just lucky they're work horses who have a name that is synonymous with gaming, the wii and ds money and good devs.
>>270418348 And the other two consoles weren't? This notion that the PS4 and One are somehow these bastions of hardcore gaming needs to stop. W101 is loads harder than anything you'll find on either of the other two systems.
>>270419160 Why are they ignoring the Vita at every trade show then? They announced games via their blog but can't embrace the games they make on stage? Doesn't sound at all what you are describing. Weebs are less likely to part with money. Especially the ones on /v/.
>>270418857 >. Literally nobody can argue that the Wii U wasn't made with the Wii motion audience in mind. It took till January 2014 till they realized that those casuals moved on.
1.IT WASN'T made with the wii motion audience in mind. It was made with the fucking tablet gamer audience in mind. A total fuck up by the completely out of touch main office.
2.If they wanted to make a system for the wii motion audience then they should have perfected the fucking wiimote and added in the classic controller for classic games.
3.The casual audience didn't move on, nintendo simply stopped producing and totally stopped marketing to those wii owners out there. A fucking dance game for the wii was outselling fucking grand theft auto 5 for most of the christmas season.
>>270418857 >Literally nobody can argue that the Wii U wasn't made with the Wii motion audience in mind I can
Nintendo Land was not designed with remotely the same mindset as Wii Sports. Nintendo Land deals with more abstract concepts, and while it's also very easy to pick up and play, a core part of being a game that supports up to six players at a time, it's also very capable of being difficult in more than one of the "attractions." These aren't simple "play this sport" games adapted for the system, they're new ideas designed for the system. They had HOPED, maybe, that they could grab some casualbux, but the possibilities of the Wii U gamepad can make games MORE complex, not less.
>>270419148 It depends on who you see as the "core audience" for Nintendo
From the start to gamecube, it was children. Then, after they abandoned Nintendo for Microsoft and Sony, it become the wii motion casuals. Then, Nintendo tried to take those people to their own version of a touchscreen phone, the Wii U. However, they had already moved onto smartphones with touchscreens. Which were more mobile. Now, Nintendo has started to appeal to their "core base", which is the people that grew up with Nintendo and still support them. Also, in the newest fiscal year report, Iwata showed how specific this demographic.
Pokemon Alpha Ruby and Omega Sapphire is coming out at the same time as Smash Wii U because Melee came out around the same time as Ruby and Sapphhire did. Iwata blantently says "We are now appealing to the 25 year olds that grew up with those games. They have their own money, they can afford to buy what they want now, and afford to buy more of it."
So their newest demographic: 25-30 year old people that grew up playing Nintendo games, and are still dedicated to those games.
>>270420285 Because Nintendo appeals to the people that buy their games. The majority that bought the Wii did so for Wii Sports, Fit, and Party. Mainly wiimote motion games. They even gimped Brawl to appeal to these people. The Wii casual crowd net them $100 million console sales. Nintendo wanted to keep these people, but saw the threat of touchscreen phone games. So they made a console to try and keep them around, with it also having a touchscreen. It was around the christmas season where Wii Party U and Wii Fit U sold terribly that they finally began to realize those people were gone.
>>270420752 >So they made a console to try and keep them around, with it also having a touchscreen no they fucking didn't. not even the first fucking games on the system resembled anything like what is/was typically found on a phone or tablet. obviously they were hoping they could rake in some casualbux, especially because WPU and WFU are both games that rehash a majority of the content of their predecessors so they were cheap to make, but if the tablet audience was what they were going for, they would have looked at making some cheap-o puzzle games or something equally mindless
>>270420881 Exactly. They aren't marketing to you specifically. They are marketing to 6 year olds and white housewives. Just because you no longer fit that category doesn't mean they suddenly betrayed you.
