I'm not denying it isn't balanced in 5v5 competitive, but I'm sure we can all agree that CS GO would be a lot more enjoyable without the AWP
Maybe it's just because I've been playing for years, but it's an integral part of the game for me. I never use the gun, but it's balanced in competitive play and in casual play it makes for an interesting challenge when an entire team starts spamming it. People tend to gang up and hunt down AWP abusers in casual play.
I'm also not the type of person who gets pissy when I lose at video games, though, so maybe that has something to do with it.
Again, I'm not saying it's imbalanced or that I have trouble dealing with it. It just promotes really slow stalemate gameplay. In comparison, M4 and AK both promote much more entertaining play.
>be playing deathmatch
>13yos in a clan declare "AWPS KNIVES ONLY"
>been using Scout+P250 to hone skills, continue to do so
>within minutes theyre pleading for the server to votekick me for destroying a bunch of awpers with cheapest rifle and cheapest pistol
If you can consistently land headshots, awps won't bother you.
Yea of course the AWP is overpowered. In deathmatch. In any regular match the payout for each kill and the things cost vastly outweighs any OP.
>enemy just picked up 5k
>owner kills 5 people
>owner made 250$ off those kills
>enemy just picked up 4.75k
Been playing every CS for 7 years now. I enjoy it when people use awps. Its easy as shit to kill them.
Autos now. Those can be rough.
The only reason pros and people who play competitive play csgo is because it's new and sponsors and valve forced it down our throats. Nobody likes the game, it's not fun and it's just polished trash. People are just loyal to the franchise.
I'm not denying that you're a whiny bitch, but maybe you should think about getting good?
Scout is $1700 and a 2-hit kill, you should be able to take on any awper if you're even marginally more skilled.
But that's your problem isn't it? The skilled part
holy fuck you're retarded, you can easily counter it with nades and there's a reason pros only get 1 on their team, but if you think a gun that's striaght out of call of duty is enjoyable to use or play against then you're a delusional retard
I just want a competitive queue without awps/autos
Nigger that is one of the only times AWPS are their most balanced. Its not a USAGE problem. Its a economy problem. Which is why in DM its gay and casual its kinda okay.
It's OP for pub play, pub play would be improved if people had to use AKs/M4s to get kills, you ever try pushing into B from tunnels against an auto? it's nearly impossible since people don't know how to flash or molitov
Okay I will give a few explanations.
Movement, they made a big improvement recently, but you still go back to the old games and then you start to have disdain torwards csgo.
gunplay, this is one of my biggest gripes with the game as it is. It's just not fun. Perhaps some people enjoy it but the small amount of RNG and weird spray patterns but they turn me off.
The community, you can't really blame the game for the way it went seeing as csgo kind of stepped into the scene along with the moba crowd.
The game itself is a buggy mess, half of my demos don't work, game has memory leaks, still crashes randomly, performance is generally shit.
I don't complain about matchmaking because I'm not a shitter and I played esea most of the time.
>but I'm sure we can all agree that CS GO would be a lot more enjoyable without the AWP
I think what you meant to say is:
>but I'm sure we can all agree that all videogames would be a lot more enjoyable without sniper rifles
>movement is bad because it's bad
>gunplay is bad because it's bad
>Perhaps some people enjoy it but the small amount of RNG and weird spray patterns but they turn me off.
1.6 had more RNG and similiar patterns.
>half of my demos don't work
am I going back in time here or what? All demos that aren't older than 18 months work flawlessly for me.
>game has memory leaks
there was one around last winter, was fixed in like a month
>still crashes randomly
1.6 and source are even worse in this regard
It's better to get the bomb down and lose the round than to save, especially because you get no money on the T side. Not to mention it's much more likely to win an unfavorable situation on the T side than the CT side.
Right didn't notice that. I still think it's better to try and kill people than saving. You're not going to do anything in the following eco with two aks so it's better to try do economic damage.
Rarely. I can count the number of times on my finger that I had issues with the previous games.
I'd need a 10 page list of the number of problems with csgo I've had in the past year.
only somebody who never played a past cs can proclaim that csgo is better than any of them.
holy shit nostalgia faggots are so fucking retarded. You either didn't play 1.6 extensively and only pretend to not be a gobabby to look cool or are legitimately retarded. Especially fucking 1.6 had an insane amount of bugs, you can confirm this by looking around (since you didn't play the fucking game). Here's one of the first links that pops up: http://www.sk-gaming.com/content/7704-CS_16_bugs_detailed
There is even a very specific bug that isn't fixed to this day that severely affects the first shot accuracy of the weapons.
I'd rather try for the save and have the two aks for a push in the next round. You'll likely be losing two rounds in either scenario, but i'd rather have some guns over a full eco
Except the thing is, assuming you would be broke after losing that gun round, you would only have around 2-3k after the eco while the rest of your team would have enough for a full buy.
I would rather have one round where everyone can full buy than two broken buy rounds
>The only reason pros and people who play competitive play csgo is because it's new and sponsors
I haven't seen a single pro that plays csgo say they don't like it. In fact in most interviews I've seen they mostly say that they like the game in its current state
Thank you for contributing to the lack of variety in CS:GO servers and being the reason I can't find anything but $16k start money 24/7 dust2/office.
GO has its issues, but it also has the absolute best weapon balance, making it the most fun to actually play by far.
Most guns have great uses, as opposed to never straying from the holy trinity in 1.6/Source.
Dude is pointing out that you will be dead before you get close enough to toss the molly.
You need to be at leas 1/2 way to 3/4 out of the tunnel to hit back boxes with molly, by then your either dead or playing vs silvers.
look for any criticism before skins when all the money poured in, every facet of it was scrutinised, people weren't happy when the game was inferior to even source in everything but hitbox size and spray growth angle
>people whose career is predicated on winning prizes
>criticising their own livelihood
Legitimate thought here.
No bullshit here, but for all the CS GO players that dump on CoD, doesn't the AWP behave the same way and have the same hitboxes as the generic bolt action one-shot rifle of every cawadoodi? All the way down to each game's players defining it as the pinnacle of skill.
Could someone else who's played both point out any differences?
I'm surprised they didn't balance the AWP more like the Sniper Rifle in TF2. It's balanced so much that you almost never see a Sniper dominating. When they are, half the time they're usually using an aimbot.
Snipers in tf2 are way stronger than the awp in cs.
No aim blur, every shot is dead on even when moving, all the hitboxes are larger and most enemies move slower, no bullet tag etc.
The charge mechanic is just a crutch for bad players.
Yeah, I prefer back when the game had a bigger focus on using skill intensive guns instead of guns that work by sort of pointing in the general direction of people, and also break the economy system that made the game so much of what it is today.
You don't even see many more guns in the game, smgs are basically never used, shotguns besides the mag7 are never used, the same rifles are used now with the inclusion of the eco scout (happened in 1.6 too, and actually required skill back then)
But do go on, explain why cz armor ecos every single round are a good trade for seeing 2 more guns used on average in a game.
if you are complaining about the awp it means you aren't very good at the game and only play low level shit. higher up anyone is going to kill you instantly with a rifle, positioning becomes extremely important and awps can easily be countered.
Complete horseshit and a terrible idea, I'll give you that.
As for everything else, I disagree completely. I use Nova all the time in competitive (those kill rewards are great), and Sawed-Off works pretty well in extremely close range (Office, Inferno apartments).
SMGs are used quite a bit more after they implemented the +20% armor penetration to them a couple weeks ago, I use the MP9 all the time now.
The only problem with the weapon balance aside from the CZ right now is the Deagle being way too random after the first shot. It should really get a buff or at least be lowered back down to $650, it's definitely not worth the $800 in competitive.
in CoD, you can move while ADS and still retain accuracy, you also don't have to stop for very long, in CS GO, you have to be stopped for at least half a second before shooting and while shooting, any movement throws the accuracy off, so in CoD you can be much more mobile while using a sniper rifle, the games aren't really comparable anyway because CS is about taking time and strategy and COD is about speed and quick reaction time with little thoughts for recoil and position
the point is that shotguns as a concept do not mesh with the strong points of shooting in counter-strike. how do you get better at shooting someone with a shotgun? you don't, really. you have a gun that's more or less as good in the hands of a good player as it is in the hands of the best player. that makes it incredibly dull and predictable, there is drastically lower pressure on you to 'perform' with it as you would with a real gun.
problem with SMGs is that they fill a niche that doesn't work with cz and p250 around. cz/p250+armor > smg+armor. simple as that. there are no viable anti-eco weapons, you always have to be prepared. also why aimpunch will never be removed, pistols would be insane.
deagle is pigeon-holed into "cheap sniperlike pistol" because valve want absolutely perfect distribution of guns in public games, even if that means making guns that aren't viable for high level play, so that will never change.
1.6 balance sort of happened by accident, everything but rifles sucking wasnt on purpose but it sure made the game better, valve are actively trying to fuck that up. 5on5 would be the same or even better if it was just the 10 or 12 regular guns
Awp is balanced in competitive.
What's annoying is when you're trying to have fun in deathmatch and some obviously overranked faggot pops in and starts spamming >get rekt and other twitch meme binds.
CSGO would be ten times as fun if Twitch died. You get people in your comp games going afk because "I bet 350 skins on this match going on right now bro :^)" and being faggots
Wrong. Yes, shotguns are easier to use but 80% of the time if you don't kill the target in one shot, you'll die. which means you have to aim for the head, just like you would with a rifle or an SMG except you can't panic spray. They're simply high-risk high reward weapons.
Yes, the deagle is actually a situational weapon instead of being godlike and beating every other pistol in every category. Which guns aren't viable in high level play? The deagle is bought fairly frequently by a lot of players in top level games.
How the fuck is having more viable weapons worse?
>shotguns do not mesh with the strong points of shooting
that's the point. Their unfamiliarity breeds their effectiveness. By foregoing your ability to spray, and kill at long distances (except for medium distance kills with the nova and occasionally the autoshotty) you gain a cheap balancer for economy rounds. No matter how good you are with the p250 you can't afford to ignore that insane money kill boost, and how effective it can be especially when mixed with unorthodox tactics.
The SMGs are good for forcing ecoing players to panic. Bizon spraying a guy and forcing his p250 shots to go wild is the greatest feeling in the world.
CZ was absolute horseshit before, glad they tried to nerf it but whether it was enough is debatable.
Deagle is fine, maybe slightly less rng after the first shot, or better cycletime would fix it.
Go back in 2011 when pros were able to test CSGO. Mind you HiddenPath Entertainment was making CSGO which is why you see a lot of comments go from absolute dogshit in 2012 when public beta to thank you based gabe in 2013 with the skins update.
I don't remember very much if Valve employees were co-developing CSGO or just said fuck it have at it Hiddenpath. As for CSGO when beta first went public.. well rather enjoy getting your lotto entry, every gun had a terrible feel to it. One thing I remember the most was like 23 hits with a P90 that did like ~90 damage. Almost every gun was like that.
Basically Hidden Path Entertainment took a giant shit on Counter Strike and it's code.
>Which guns aren't viable in high level play?
tec9, autoshotgun, sawnoff, every anti-eco smg, scope rifles, lmgs.
so essentially everything besides the usual suspects plus pistols that fill the same niche, 2 shotguns and the autosniper.
>How the fuck is having more viable weapons worse?
Serves no purpose to have more guns if they do not contribute anything to the game, there aren't any niches left to be filled. Is having 3 pistols that mostly have the same characteristics a good thing, how does it help besides making the game convoluted, take SMGs as an example: their purpose is anti-eco, right? lets ignore for a moment that smgs are useless until pistols are nerfed. why do you need 5 smgs who all have the same niche with varying amounts of bullets and damage to accompany their varying 1200-1700 dollar pricepoint? would the game lose anything from having just one? You can't have 2 "equal" options, if they suddenly changed the krieg so it was better than the ak the meta would shift and the ak would become the new krieg. the simplicity of the weapon balance and economy system was what made it good, regardless of what all the pubtards thought should've been done to their favourite shotgun or pistol.
remeber august 21, 2012? the day it was released? It was a fucking joke. ofc no one (incl. pros) wanted to play.
2 years later, 4 operations and countless, constant updates, it has truned itself into (almost everything) it needs.
Fuck off you hipster tripfag.
GO has awful movement. Slidey, skatey, and you don't have complete control. Recent updates have attempted to fix this but counter-strafing still isn't effective enough. There is also way too much of a penalty on landing accuracy. Air acceleration is too slow and makes you feel sluggish when jumping, it's very apparent on train, an extreme fan favourite on 1.6 because of how well you could almost "fly" between trains with the ladders.
The pistols are retardedly strong. There's no reason to have a 300 dollar pistol that can one shot people at close range, with the amount of accuracy that it has. 1.6 had something going with the deagle, source took it too far, and GO just shit on it and made it useless.
AK needs 100% first shot accuracy, -all- pistols could use a buffed first shot accuracy. Not 100%, just higher where it is now. Make the p250 do 68 damage a headshot, which would require 2 headshots to kill, or a headshot and 2 body shots. Make the deagle always require 3 or 4 shots for a body shot kill, never 2.
The awp, scout, and auto sniper need the .2s inaccuracy after scoping in removed. It ruins close range play. Noscoping needs to be slightly more accurate, as well. There's no reason you can be behind xbox on B site in dust 2 and not reliably hit someone in window.
smokes need to be fixed. You should not have your screen forced to be grey after exiting it, it's unfair.
Peeker's advantage needs to be removed. Currently, if you peek around a corner, you get to see the person you're peeking first, removing the advantage of holding an angle as you can pre-fire way too easily. Because of this you will almost -never- see plays like this again, as in the clip all kills were possible because zneel had the advantage of holding an angle and being the defensive player
Keep in mind I still think GO is fun, its just very disappointing how much it pales in comparison to 1.6.
>The awp, scout, and auto sniper need the .2s inaccuracy after scoping in removed. It ruins close range play. Noscoping needs to be slightly more accurate, as well. There's no reason you can be behind xbox on B site in dust 2 and not reliably hit someone in window.
The whole point of the snipers is for long range play and to be used in certain situations and spots . They're situational weapons just as much as any other weapons you choose to buy.
Sure, maybe in real life, but CS isn't real life, sorry. Being able to shoot instantly after zooming in can be done long range anyway, so I don't see the point in quoting that part, and you do know if you "noscoped" a rifle in real life, it'd actually be pretty damn accurate even at a distance? Bullets tend to go in a pretty straight line coming out of the barrel. Though I'm told sniper rifle bullets "arc" in real life.
I'm not saying you should be able to reliably noscope someone across the map or anything, the distance I gave should be about the breaking point for near perfect accuracy. Not to mention you have the dillema if you miss your noscope close range in a situation like I gave (xbox to window) you're going to die. It's still an unfavorable position, there's no reason to make it an impossible one.
The maps are all free on community servers, like they have been since the game released. Costs money to host servers, so you pay a one time fee to play custom maps on valve's servers while also giving the map makers a slice of the pie. There are dozens of community 5v5 pug servers that are free and use the new maps on rotation.
Not going to open another case until they make it so you can't get dupes like with DotA chests, and they make it at least factory new for cases.
I can understand random drop weapons being scuffed up and shit, but this is fucking inexcusable coming directly from a case.
Pic fucking related. I got scammed hardstyle. Thanks Gabe.
I don't get this one. If the peeker waltzes in, then he's gonna have the element of surprise on his side, that's a given. Doesn't mean the defending person can't kill him. So I don't see why a play like that shouldn't be possible.
I don't know shit about high level CS play though.
>The game itself is a buggy mess, half of my demos don't work, game has memory leaks, still crashes randomly, performance is generally shit.
500+ hours here.
Never had it crash or fps drop below like 70 on a gtx 650 (non-TI)
You must be running it on a potato for such bad performance.
AWP is balanced by smoke. For $300 you can fuck over the guy who bought a $5000 rifle. Flashbangs too, but less so.
Buy some fucking nades for chrissakes and stop poking awpers. Yes it is unbalanced in DM and yes the playerbase in casual will keep dying to it, but the gun itself can be kept in check.
I don't think you understand. The peeker literally gets to see you first. As in, you show up on his screen before you show up on his. It's directly tied into the netcode. You should see each other at the same time so there is equal opportunity for both players to kill each other, giving the advantage to the person holding the angle, as they're playing the defensive position.
That's how all FPS games are. This whole idea of "Oh wow, I'm hiding behind a thing! That means I'm not peaking! Have fun looking at that angle! Am I gonna pop out?! AM I GONNA POP OUT?!?!" just isn't fun.
The game is defined by literally staring at walls.
I may or may not have posted it yesterday and the day before, but I don't copy/paste it.
I do like using that video for an example though because it's the perfect example of holding angles.
this one's good too, really showcases how well holding an angle works in 1.6. Complimented well by Redeye, nuttiest commentator alive.
