The Pikmin protagonists are mute. We don't have a lot to go on to differentiate Alph from Olimar except "he doesnt use some kinds of Pikmin".

Let's say, hypothetically, time and funds were taken to make Alph and Dark Pit both fleshed out, non-clone characters. It would be EXTREMELY difficult to do so for Alph; he would be about as different as Dr.Mario is to Mario.
Dark Pit, on the other hand, would probably have more care taken to him by Sakurai because of his favouritism, and would have some of the many weapons and mechanics from Kid Icarus Uprising that they didn't use on Pit.

Face it; Dark Pit is way, WAY more worthy of his own fighter than Alph.

I would completely agree with him and be fine with clones if it wasn't for the fucking fact that Wolf, Lucas, Squirtle, Ivysaur, Snake, Ice Climbers and Mewtwo have all been cut when most of them had completely unique movesets and the clones were significantly better than the clones we got now. On top of that, Ganondorf, Falco and Toon Link are still clones, Zelda and Sheik still share a final smash.

Ganondorf and Falcon are nothing alike. Ganondorf is slow and heavy. Falcon is sanic speed.

And their moves have different properties too. For example, Falcon's side B knocks the opponent into the air while Ganondorf's slams them to the ground.

Also, their tilts are very different.
