honestly this might just be bullshit but I think the one of the reasons that I can have fun with Persona is that it takes so much to to tell it's story that even though it's magical anime bullshit, it doesn't feel so infuriatingly poorly written
it's internally consistent, there's enough time devoted to characterization to make you care, and the interactivity really make it enjoyable, whereas If I were just watching an anime about it that moved quickly through the story in 22 episodes, I probably wouldn't care
