I have been playing RO for 10 years now and have finally gave up on it.
Any old RO players, what MMOs do you play now?
played for good 7 years and boy, I miss those times...
Anyways, answering your question: none
I only play fighting games and a little bit of dota now
Played from 2003 to 2006 on iRO, then til 2011 on private servers, until I just couldn't play anymore. No good servers left, but the game will always be the pinnacle of MMO experience for me. Fingers crossed for Tree of Savior.
I also stopped playing earlier this year after 9 years. I just was not able to find something to keep me attracted to it so I stopped trying. Right now im just waiting for Tree of Savior and kinda want to try out The Secret World, and I guess Im going to check out Archeage tomorrow but not quite sure, people says that if you dont pay subscription is just another generic theme park.
Waiting for tree of savior...no MMO has ever made me as happy as RO did.
Old-school MS private servers can be good time killers but they don't have WoE OR any kind of PvP...I miss WoE....hold me /v/
I cancelled my subscriptions to EVE Online because it was boring, WoW because the community is shit and it's a gear treadmill and ARR because somehow the community managed to be worse than WoW, LoL and DotA 2 combined and it's also a gear grind with a Simon Says mechanic. I miss FFXI, but it's dead as fuck and apparently ruined by Abyssea.
My only internet subscriptions now are Audible Platinum and Netflix.
I just quit my old private server because the server got bought out by a power hungry player so left. I was playing iRO from 2004 till 2009 then went to this private server was fun there but then it got bought out by this new guy and he made all the banned players allowed to play along with no rules anymore.
Left before someone would get my credit card info or anything, deleted my account.
I put all my gears on another character but the server hostile now and everyone running around like 3 year olds on a sugar high.
That's a real shame. I ended up quitting my server over renewal...just couldn't be assed to grind to max lvl AGAIN and get all new cards and relearn the class...none of it was even interesting to me.
>playing mmo korea trash animu ripoff
>calling other pedo
Not in a good mood today so I'm going to pursue this.
>lel madoka shit
>playing shitty mmo
I've never played RO, but I think about playing Tree of Savior in the future; can't wait to get second-hand nostalgia off of nostalgiafags. It's probably like trying to have a discussion in Path of Exile's All/World chat.
Was hoping to return to ragnarok when ToS was announced
Now waiting for xxxxxxx
Why mmo so shitty?
/rog/ on /vg/ started another server if any of you fags wanna play
3x rates, no reset, korean-grind tier. Ultimate nostalgia, pre-trans.
Also grinding ain't that bad with a party, there's a 15 level exp share with party and you get more exp if you party.
>killing mobs twenty levels above you
It really is korean-grind but since it's pre-trans there's absolutely no rush to get to 99 and the fun part is partying with others to get great exp.
But there needs to be more people of course and the main group of people who started early are 40-50 right now.
It's not that far-fetched to catch up to 40 if you got a party because the higher the level the harder it is to level meaning you level up fast enough to get within range without others out-leveling you at the same pace.
>playing korea garbage
>thinks he has any authority on taste
>le where do you think we are
taste is determined by confidence and constructive opinions anyway, at least the barrier for that is what keeps this site from going all infowars on its lurkers.
I'm just hoping Tree of Savior, Black Desert and Everquest next will be good.
Even on of them.
may not have the combat intricacy people want in MMOs, but lots TACTICS. mite bcool
>Tree of Savior
eng release will fall through or take too long
will become a clusterfuck for a while and kill interest
there's some healthy negativity for your hope, anon
Hah! He better have BURN HEAL
>I have been playing RO for 10 years
>All these posts hating on RO
What happened? I used to always see /v/ reminisce about their past times on RO.
sickening you mean? yeah, I used to be like you, feeling like I led a double life because I had an easier time relating to strangers in-game than in-person. Heh, I'm seriously trying to remember how I could be so social- I think MMOs just had a better climate because you just had people who were more easygoing.
>playing korea shit anime ripoff
>thinks he has any authority on taste
It's nostalgia anon, and it's still korea trash
The truth hurts, keep it up
But how can it be nostalgia if it wasn't my first mmo, or even a childhood MMO?
I think you're using words you don't actually know the meaning of. Also the term is "korean trash," not "korea trash." I guess all that time on s4s shitposting "ironically" really has made you a babbling idiot for real.
What we learn from this thread?
>mmos are garbage
>korean can't make good game
>mmo playa are disgusting creature
>shitty thread attract a lot of shitposter
The truth hurts, but you make face them
You make it blatantly obvious you're samefagging because in all your posts you have a horrible grasp on the english language and make stupid spelling and grammatical mistakes.
sorry to hear that. have you been enjoying the heightened wvw competition or something lately? gotta stick to your big guns nowadays, or rather, characters that aren't new ones.
I don't even play MMOs anymore. You really need to work on this.
You sound a lot like me.
But it's just not the same you know. I truly did enjoy playing ragnarok. Nothing like now
1 year for korean, 2 years for international
Retards have delayed the first CBT for 5 months, AND they still haven't looked at a publisher.
So I'm being extremely generous here.
Hey i hate korean mmo shit just like the other guy but ro is an exception. It has one of the best coop aspect among the multiplayer games. Team-play is everything in ro. Gameplay in this game is great.
>top one of the 3 mmos
What an achievement, totally amazing
>first time playing as Merchant
>thought it would be genius to make as many mushroom hats as possible and sell them at steady rate of 30k per day from poor newbies
>made 5 and burned out
>nobody bought them
So how did you decide the prices of things like Beret or Goblin Mask or cards?
One of the many amazing things in RO was the fact that item hunting was completely detatched from exp hunting, coupled with the fact that enemy placement was not linear and progression-based, but kind of randomic.
It's fun to sit down and think how to tackle a map best. That's something you don't see anymore in MMOs. You just, "follow the arrow", nothing matters.
To be honest, I think many of this game's merits came from gravity's utter incompetence in balancing, it gave it its freedom. You can see this because they "fixed" the game later on by having hard endgame shit with the good drops.
But still, it worked in the game's favor in the end. Of course, gravity being the retards they are, they did not realize what made it good and let their game die.
Most people however simply had experience from previous servers (kRO > iRO > euRO > fRO etc), and they either scammed newbies in the beginning of a server's life, or held onto stuff they knew was important.
>tfw I sold BS maths to NPCs when I started playing
>low rate server
>making thief with 100 perfect dodge
>exploit soil replication with your guild
>everyone 99/70 in no time
>proceed devastating everyone on woe
Glorious times if you had great people in your guild.
I doubt that actually happened.
When the item was "relevant" (it never was that good), 99 millions was an insane price for which you could be able to buy a good mvp card for.
For example, in the first year of my official, an angeling card went for 50m.
How do you find all the gear to make a 100 PD sin in low rates before WoEs get real? By the time you gather it, everyone will be both high level and have essential woe cards.
Did you play versus horrible players?
>be HP on some pserver
>get strong and skilled
>get lent some 'illegal' items from my guild master for being his bitch on woes
>soloing MVPs and hard as fuck dungeons as an HP just to show off
>having fun the whole time
That was the best shit ever. I was still strong without the 'illegal' items, but they still helped a lot.
How do you even replicate RO quests in modern MMO?
>mother and son inside random guesthouse
>pussy ass son can't eat fruits and beg for meat
>if you give him meat he'll just thank you and the mom gets pissed at you, no rewards
>if you show him the meat but choose "don't give him meat" he'll go on a tandrum but mom gives you next clue
>"I heard one of these two towns contain a juice maker", no quest mark, no quest log, that's it
>your reward is the discovery of that NPC
>pet Poring is now happy
Is The Secret World good?
I tried RO once, and once is all I needed. As soon as the fucking, shitty ass Lucky Star-tier weebcancer music started playing it immediately got my cock flaccid. The gameplay was interesting, but the music ruined everything for me. I was even gonna forgive and look over the moeshit artstyle until that.
>Played FFXI for almost 7 years
>Did a few stints in SWG too
>Quit and was extremely bored and antsy
>Buy into the hype that I might get to relive those amazing times from XI
>Buy into the alpha, game is shit
>Buy into the beta, game is shit
>Try release, game is even worse
>See ARR is coming
>It turned the game from bad to casual and generic
I played RO for a while too back in the day, it's such a shame that the entire MMO genre is nothing but lobby simulators now.
I'm not playing a MMO currently and don't see myself playing one again for many many years.
>actually trying a game out in 3 stages of development despite it being common knowledge that 14 was never going to be anywhere like 11, but more like WoW
You only have yourself to blame, pal.
It's like that glass of milk that doesn't exactly smell fresh, but you say "well, it's not that old, might still be tasty" and when you taste it it's fruitier than fucking Trix cereal.
There was no common knowledge about the game at all, Square didn't like to explain things about FFXI and they surely didn't explain anything about FFXIV pre release, ESPECIALLY not to foreigners.
It was appalling to see just how bad the game was, it must have been completely outsourced because it showed no signs that anyone on the team not only knew nothing of FFXI but knew nothing about MMOs in general.
Oh what could have been.
OP I used to play iRO back in the day on the Loki server. I started playing it when it was P2P. Played it for about 5 years, stopped playing it for a bit and started playing gRO aka a private sever.
The Loki guild I was in was called Fatty Chubby Kitties. Fun times OP. Fun times.
>played on animaRO
>somehow was able to be social
>don't even remember how
>got in tight with a GM
>other high level players sucked my dick because of that
>didn't like most of them so i didn't do shit with them
>would wander around low level places and help people starting out
>helped qt korean chick who was bad at english
>got her to strip on camera and play with herself
>she's now some small time model/idol
Just do quests like that without waymarks and shit. FFXIV had a puzzle questline recently that was pretty good, it's even semi-random with like 9 possible routes you have to take. Divinity original sin also didnt use waymarks and quest icons
>literally thinks it could be a sex slave!
