Would Smash really be better if Dark Pit was just shoved into Pit's alternate costumes, with the only difference being that he no longer has a separate slot on the character selection screen? Do people really believe this?
People is stupid and like to overblown everything.
They are also retarded enough to believe Dark Pit stole the "slot" of their favourite character.
Let them be stupid. They'll buy the game anyway. Be sure some of these "boycotters" that hate Dark Pit are in some Smash Demo thread, begging and taking photos at their dicks for a code.
Have people seriously gone to those lengths begged for a code? I haven't paid any attention at all to those threads. That's pretty fucking disgusting isn't it? I don't even know how people are this thirsty when the game is even worse than Brawl.
Personally, I expected Pitoo. Didn't expect that damn dog though at all. Let alone half the Newcomers, including Palutena. Lets hope that Pterodactyl, er, Rickley gets in. All the fuss over being too small means he might be added with DLC.
[spoilers] Kid Icarus sequel when?.[\spoiler]
It's not, he's buttmad, blinded by autism.
>Kid Icarus sequel when?
23 years left. We are close.
I wanted Hades over Dark Pit. What I'm upset with is that Dark Pit is a fucking clone where his move set could have been a combination of other KI weapons like how Palutena's move set is collection of abilities in that game.
Yes it would be.
For one thing, Dark Pit means he's going to be twice as frequently fought in classic and allstar, etc. It's unnecessary bloat and adds nothing meaningful to the game.
The gods in Kid Icarus change their sizes all the time. Also, unlike Ridley, Hades would look normal if he were the same size as Ganondorf.
I just want to see Hades in the game in some form. I'd even be okay if he were a stage himself.
>No Hades trophy
>No mention of Hades anywhere
>Hades is from Kid Icarus and Sakurai is biased as fuck towards Kid Icarus
>Sakurai created Hades as he was never in a previous Kid Icarus game
HADES CONFIRMED DLC
It's stupid because of the blatant Sakurai favoritism.
Fuck, even Lucina LOOKS different than Marth. Dr. Mario, too, to a lesser extent. But Dark Pit? That's literally it. It's Pit but black. Fuck, Pit has a goddamn Dark Pit skin except with white wings instead.
It's retarded to bother letting him have his own slot, and his FS is just some shit light arrow clone too.
Robin, Lucina, Dark Pit, Mii Fighters, Dr. Mario, Bowser Jr. and Duck Hunt are worthless additions that shouldn't be in the game. Game & Watch should have been cut instead of Ice Climbers. ROB should have been cut instead of Snake. Mewtwo should have come back over Jigglypuff. Toon Link should just not have come back at all, Zelda is perfect with three reps.
There. That alone makes a far superior roster.
>b-but muh veteran status!
Jigglypuff was a mistake that should have never happened in the first place. Smash 64 would have been a much more well-rounded game had Pit been in it.
Please. I love Roy and Dr. Mario, but they are still worthless. Fire Emblem is good enough with two reps and you can pretend Shulk is a third one. They should just improve Mario with Dr. Mario's strengths and that will be the same thing. Pichu is complete trash and G&W stopped being fun a really long time ago. Mewtwo on the other hand is far more popular and more interesting than Puff, and it has mega evolutions to use.
I hate Project M.
I won't go into the exact details of who I think should be in the game, but I will sum it up. Donkey Kong could afford two more reps. F-Zero and Metroid are perfectly fine and need no extra reps. If an Awakening rep is necessary, replace Ike. Lucina is a joke and Robin is lame, so choose someone worthwhile. And for the final Mario rep, a certain Princess would love to join the battle. Bayonetta would be nice, but that might be asking for too much.
Pic related deserved to be a fighter over any Kid Icarus character that isn't Pit. Including Palutena, Hades, and Dark Pit.
Why people can't accept Uprising was a successful hit and it has a lot of fans?
Dark Pit (or any other Kid Icarus themed thing) is not in Smash because "BAAAWWW Sakurai's bias" but because Uprising is loved by a lot of fans.
Sure they should have added someone else over him, like Hades or Magnus. But I don't think anyone has been buttmad at Roy, Pichu, Dr. Mario or Falco in Melee because they put them over other non-clone characters. People just decided to deal with it then and they should do it now, instead of bitching about immaginary favouritisms.
>There are people who are happy about DKC being neglected and Pittoo getting in
I will never understand this.
if they were gonna have clones why not a lot of them? i wouldn't have minded Dark Link and Dark Samus if Dark Pit had to get in with them.
though i wouldn't mind Metal Mario getting in as well
The only people who're going to be crying over his removal are the same idiots who are defending him right now, for some reason. Guess the joy of playing Pit but with black wings and his own full name is too great.
I don't care about Dark Pit, but why not add characters into a roster instead of picking favorites. Im going to miss Ice Climbers and its not like a graphics update or move set was the issue.
You know what? Yes. Yes it would. Now the chances of being Sakurai's boy toy when picking random have doubled. Can't even change your random character before the match starts. Fuck this terrible character.
The 3DS had trouble rendering 8 fully detailed characters in versus and online while keeping the framerate decent.
Hopefully Sakurai makes an exception and brings them back for Wii U.
>Why people can't accept Uprising was a successful hit
Because it wasn't.
He said that at the time he said he was working on fixing the Ice Climbers.
I'm not expecting it and understand their absence, but cutting them from the Wii U version too when you've already put resources into their character just because "it wouldn't be fair" is dumb. He shouldn't have restricted himself to that mindset in the first place if it was going to severely limit what he could do with the game.
Whatever you implying with that pic: 1 milion sales is not bad for a rebooted old IP and secondly most of those 1 mil buyers are strong fans of the game. So yeah, it was a successful hit.
>choosing a different character skin gives you a different final smash, physics, etc.
The only "fix" I really want is for him and Pit to have less costumes, maybe 6 for Pit and 4 for Dark Pit. The same character model doesn't need that many alternate appearances in a game like Smash, particularly since there should be a focus on visually distinguishing them from each other.
>Uprising sells well and is popular
>Main protagonists of Uprising are Pit, Palutena, Dark Pit and Viridi.
>Three of them get into the game.
>Returns sells well and is popular
>Main protagonists are DK and Diddy
>Both of them get into the game
Kid Icarus got a lot of unneeded attention with Smash Run enemies though.
>Whatever you implying with that pic

If Kid Ic is a "successful and well loved" IP, then DK must be the next coming of Mario, but despite this gets less reps than KI
I figure Sakurai developed a lot of Uprising with Smash in mind. The items he brought over into Smash fit perfectly.
It bothers me more mostly because Sakurai is really boring in his enemy design and has a tendency to depend on giant flying eyeballs.
Mewtwo plays nothing like Lucario, Dixie doesn't use peanut guns or rocket barrels, SA-X is l i t e r a l l y Samus (at least Edgy Pit is a different fucking color), and five FE reps is way, way too many.
There are better clone ideas but certainly not among the ones you've listed.
i'm not trying to make a game roster, but just examples of characters that would actually be an addition to the roster that wouldnt have a 100% chance to be dropped in the next game
I just really like metroid fusion i'm sorry
Dixie could work as a blend of Diddy and DK pretty well, actually.
>Replace the slippery bananas peels with sticky chewed gum
>Bubblegum Popgun instead of Peanut Gun
>Rare's version of the Helicopter Twirl as a side special like DK's recovery
>Retro's version of the Helicopter Twirl as her recovery
>Final Smash is her guitar, functioning like a less shitty bongo drum
>We will never get a Retro 2D Metroid.
No. It's dumb to think that one character ruins a game. Dark Pit, as well as the other clones that people seem to conveniently forget, are just there to fluff the game. It's easier and faster to add 6 clones than 6 newcomers. Minus the clones we still have 40+ characters all with either a new playstyle or a tweaked playstyle. That's more characters than Brawl, which is all I asked for.
And if not Dark Pit it would be someone else. Ridley could easily be a clone of Charizard as Ganon is to Falcon. Not to mention that no one will care a year from now. I know /v/ bitches about the small things, but this is a new level to me. Not even Decapre got this much flack.
Metroid IS Nintendo.
Snake is exception because Kojima sucked someone's dick
Pac-man because he's a gaming icon and Miyamoto asked Sakurai to include him
Duck Hunt is a retro rep, we get one every game, even if the franchise is dead.
Why am I explaining this, you're just baiting me
JSYK there were metroid games before Prime.
>Retro studios is a division of Nintendo, not Nintendo
I don't even.
>Retro studios is a division of Nintendo, not Nintendo
I said Konami wasn't and Nintendo has a terrible relationship with them these days, which is why Snake didn't return and why Castlevania doesn't have a rep.
And Namco is co-developing the fucking game.
Follow the conversation.
The recolors Charizard, Greninja and (to a small extent Lucario) are leagues better than Pikachu and Jigglypuff's "yellow with a tinge of green" esque costumes. The hats are nice, but they can't make up for it.
personally, I think dark pit is lame because why even spend the small amount of time to put that character in the game? dark pit is literally pit but black, thats a terrible design from a character standpoint
i've always seen the clones as characters that deserved a spot on the roster but weren't unique enough to warrant an entire roster slot built up for them, with the odd exception of dr. mario. He didn't take a slot from ridley or something, but he did take a slot from say, lucas or maybe even wolf
And Sonic? Point is, it doesn't have to be a succesful franchise or first party. There are many other things involving who gets in. So DK having less playable characters than KI:U is not unfair.
I'm just bothered by the lack of ice characters. We have all these guys who can shot fire and lightning, but the only guys with ice attacks are gone now. I think there's just G&W's judgment now.
Sonic got in because Sega is really close to Nintendo these days and he was by far the most requested third party in the game.
Mega Man followed as second most popular.
And where the fuck did DK and Kid Icarus come into this conversation? I was responding to the dumbass saying Metroid is a third party franchise and using Castlevania as an example of sales not mattering to Nintendo.
Anyone watching that tourney on twich?
Know it's early days but ZSS, Sheikh, Lucina (insane up smash hitbox), Ness, Duck Hunt look really strong. Haven't seen enough from Palutena, Samus, Robin and few others yet.
I think the roster is awesome and that you guys are faggots
You think this is a fanboy problem? All nintendrones want to do is have fun I've been in the wii u threads, the 3DS threads, MK threads, KIU threads, Idort threads, it's just people playing the games and/or fapping to waifus. All this bitching is coming from smash casuals who don't even know half of the game's roster to begin with.
I've been to plenty of streams hosted by the smash community, and they're just having fun with their jap copies. I go to /v/, facebook, twitter, and it's filled with people attacking the same strawman.
Well we certainly wouldn't be here bitching about him if that were the case. Adding the three extra slots to beef up the roster feels disingenuous, like they weren't proud of their work. The roster would have been a-okay without the super clones.
>Getting outsold by a port
Anime fags BTFO
i'm playing my game and watching streams of the game, but when the topic is brought up i'll share my opinion on it
doesn't mean i'm not buying the $100 dollar smash U bundle and have the other one preordered already. i can be critical of things i like
really, the only bad thing is that the controls are hard to pick up for a system usually full of easily to pick up games
it's also on sale on the eshop for like $30 I think, which is the cheapest you'll ever find it unless it gets a port
Pichu, Wolf, and Lucas were all not in in favor of him.
Pichu has moves that behave differently from Pikachu's and has a self-damaging mechanic that occurs when using electric moves.
Wolf's A-moves are all different from Fox's, and his specials are similar but definitely different enough to be used differently (except maybe his down special).
Lucas plays quite differently from Ness but he still managed to get cut.
EVEN THE MOTHER FRANCHISE HAS HAD MORE GAMES THAN FUCKING KID ICARUS, AND A PALLET SWAP FROM KID ICARUS GOT IN.
FUCK THIS FAVORITISM.
Listen to this guy.
Palutena and Pit are way more endearingly dorky, and their friendship is easier to get attached to. Pal is really boring in Japanese.
Hades is fabulous rather than standard smug villain.
Viridi is full on psycho cunt rather than just tsundere.
Do you not think it's odd that Metroid and DK are so underrepresented?
Many games over the course of ~30 years and they both only have 2 reps, and Metroid has 2 that are literally the same person.
They both are high-selling franchises (DK at 54M units, Metroid at ~24M if I remember right) and they definitely have outsold FE and KI.
There is literally no excuse for Dark Pit to be in. Another character who would have made more sense than him would have been Black Shadow as a Falcon clone, with Ganondorf gaining a new moveset, since F-Zero is the only franchise who has not received new representation of the original 12 characters.
>the same characters
>DK, Diddy, Dixie, and Cranky, with K. Rool being fairly well-known, still.
>only DK and Diddy are playable.
I could not give less of a shit about some anime-styled strategy RPG with a bunch of different no-name weapon users. I know Japan fucking loves it, but that's Japan.
WHY THE FUCK does DK not see more representation? The franchise barely got any new content in the whole game.
It's like Sakurai hates it.
It's still content. He'll have some differences and (from what I've heard) he has a completely different final smash, which is better than what the two Links got.
Seriously, the smash fanbase is whint.
Metroid hasn't really been known for its cast of characters
they won't even put the Rare games back on the virtual console so maybe they just want to forget the more obscure stuff from the DK series?
and despite the DK reboot if you want to call it that, that sold very well maybe samurai just still thinks the series more of a Mario spin-off, makes sense why we don't see that much of Mario RPG, Paper, or Sports stuff in the game i guess
or maybe since it sold very well he doesn't think it needs help with exposure while FE still gets the "literally who" thing going on, at least in the states. Japs don't seem to care much about the DK characters. hell Earthbound wouldn't have a cult following if it wasn't for Smash Bros
>there are people who aren't going to main Dark Pit
How hard would it have been to make Dixie a Diddy semi-clone?
Probably not very hard.
How hard would it have been to make Ridley a Charizard semi-clone?
Probably not very hard.
But no, he opted out and made a reskin a new character.
have you made a game before?
that being said, Ridley would have a MUCH different hitbox than Charizard. Dixie deserves better than being a clone honestly.
but speaking of clones how would people feel if Funky was a Donkey clone
I haven't made a game but Sakurai even stated that clones weren't difficult to implement, and he's made many games.
He just doesn't care about DK or Metroid.
Also, I'd take Funky. I'd take any new DK rep.
It's a solid game. One of the best on 3DS. Decent plot, endearing characters, damn good soundtrack, replayability up the ass. If you can get past the controls then I'm confident you'll enjoy the game. The controls seem to be the main hurdle for most people. Some people, myself included, got used to it after the first two chapters. Others a bit longer.
Play it and get pissed about how Dark Pit is a literal clone of Pit in Smash, but in KIU its basically the opposite.
All I see is addition punching bag. Can't go wrong with that.
