Loggy's actions were understandable. If the freedom war happened early enough for him to fight in it it means there's probably a substantial section of the population who are veterans and people who lived under Orlaisian bootheels. If the king is seen making a political alliance through marriage or even just by being too close you've got instant coup. You don't jump into bed with your former overlords in less than a generation. The wounds are too fresh and doing so is a surefire way to watch your vassals get bolstered by angry mobs and depose your stupid ass. Loghain beat them to the punch by giving Calian an honorable way out and preventing all out civil war which was pretty much inevitable had he continued on his path.

I hate to say it, but I hated how you got 1000 codex entries everywhere you went. I don't mind reading lore in-game at all. I do it for fallout and TES, but DAO felt like it establish everything about its world in one game. I only found 1/20 codex entries interesting enough to read, the rest where about shit I never cared for, or things that didnt seem relevant to the game. I get the game was trying set up a universe, but it should have used more of the show method and less of the tell method. In TES and Fallout, I can see the effects the documents had in game. Those games make lore and game match much better than DAO did. There were so many things mentioned in the codex that just never come up in the gameworld, that I don't bother reading the codex until someone mentions I havent heard before.

I remember playing this again recently, and realizing that they really didn't think the timeline all the way through. It's not something you notice until you've played the mage origin though.

The Jowan fag escaping from the mage tower, get chased by templars, and gets saved by Loghain and is sent to go poison Eamon. While he's at the castle he teaches that dumb kid to do magic and starts poisoning the nobleman; the nobleman goes into a coma, the kid makes a deal with a demon, and all hell breaks loose.

There's nowhere near enough time for all this shit to happen between the player being recruited by Duncan and then arriving at the castle.

The Ferelden Grey Wardens had actually deposed (or tried to) Ferelden nobles time and again in the past, so the notion that the Grey Wardens were in on the Orlesian coup wasn't -that- far fetched. This is why Duncan says they don't need people having more ammunition against them.

Even if Loghain didn't think it was a blight, it was still large number of Dark Spawn and Ferelden just lost a good chunk of its army.

Loghain should have been forced into the Legion of Doom as a form of punishment after the blight was done, Loghain was incredible power warrior and general, he would have helped greatly in the effort to push back the dark spawn in the deep roads.

The ending fight fucking pissed me off
