I see some games are going to be removed from their catalogue, but I don't think it is because of their fair price policy. Publishers/devs are paid the price, it's gog who gives out the difference. If something it helps them since people are getting more from their purchase, virtually buying the game at a lower price while the publisher gets the whole price.

Fuck regional prices. Anybody who doesn't think GOG is based is a valvedrone or just a full on retard.

Guild 2: Renaissance with mods is pretty solid. I like the Sims shit, and it still feels like there is plenty to do and manage. I think as it is right now after two expansions and plenty of modding to fix the broken shit, it's a good buy.

Heads up for people planning on getting Gothic 2: It's a direct continuation of the first game. I'd recommend playing Gothic first. It's not 100% necessary but I think it's still important. It's not as good as 2 but it's still absolutely amazing.

Marketing stunt

During a period of days from September 19 to 22, 2010, the GOG website was disabled leaving behind messages on the web site and their Twitter accounts that the site had been closed.[15] A spokesperson for Good Old Games reiterated that the site is not being shut down, and confirmed news would be forthcoming about changes to the service.[16] A clarification posted on the site on September 20, 2010, said they had to shut down the site temporarily "due to business and technical reasons", with industry journalists believing the shutdown may be related to the nature of DRM-free strategy, based on Twitter messages from the company.[17]

On September 22, 2010, GOG revealed that this shutdown was a marketing hoax as part of the site coming out of beta.[18][19]

Publisher goes bankrupt. Creditors seize all assets and auction off the rights. A bank gets them for $800 or something. Then they change hands a dozen times. GOG stood is ground with is world pricing policy. They wanted to remove it to attract publisher. We, sustomer, said "Fuck off, GOG, don't sell out like that". They didn't sell out and said "Ok, fine, let's keep the fair price policy".

Results of that, Publisher want to GTFO. We wanted it. There's good side, there's bad side. That's it.

Data is just ones and zeros. The significance is the intellectual property and licensing.

There is literally no difference between the actual game that Gamestop sells you, and a burnt copy of it. The only difference is licensing.

GOG is licensed to sell these games without DRM, and members of the scene are not.

Why would they bother removing the DRM when it's already been done? It's just putting in unnecessary work to achieve something that's already been done. The important part isn't the data, it's the licensing.

This was the first month. Only 15,685 were given out from Kickstarter.

Nobody uses GoG really because it doesn't offer anything that other services don't, and it offers less. They offer what, artwork and music that everyone can already get elsewhere for free? I can launch like more than half of my games outside of Steam anyways.

Guy who played most of that shit. Here's my rec:
> God Tier
Gothic 2 Gold Edition (my favorite game of all time)
The Penumbra Collection
Painkiller Black Edition
> Great Tier
Amnesia the Dark Descent
Desperados: Wanted Dead or Alive (a Commandos clone, really good with gorgeous iso graphics)
Freedom Force vs. the 3rd Reich (real time with pause tactical game where you control superheroes. The original Freedom Force is God tier)
AquaNox (it's like Freelancer except underwater)
> Good Tier
Red Faction (a decent sci-fi shooter on Mars, you can blow up walls and shit and it has vehicles)
Dark Fall: The Journal (Myst-style game, pretty decent atmosphere)
Dark Fall 2: Lights Out
AquaNox 2
The Guild Gold Edition
Spellforce Platinum (RTS/RPG hybrid, I loved it as a kid)

Meh tier
AquaNox 2
Neighbours From Hell (adventure/puzzle games about pranking a grumpy dude. Is cool to chain pranks and see him boil with rage)
Desperados 2: Cooper's Revenge
Gothic 3 (with the community patch it's a decent game)
Spellforce 2: Shadow Wars

> Shit Tier
Alien Nations (Settlers clone with a shit-ton of micromanagement. The graphics are ugly as fuck, get the Cultures/Northland games instead)
Red Faction 2 (doesn't hold a candle to RF1, can still blow shit up)
Guild 2 (was buggy as fuck when I played it)
Gothic 3: Forsaken Gods Enhanced Edition

Didn't play the other stuff.
>>
>>260216696
>What, you mean competing with Netlix and Amazon Instant?
They aren't competition, they just got BTFO by DRM-free.
>>
>>260219183
Forgot to add descriptions to
Painkiller Black Edition (Serious Sam game but in hell, the bosses are giant and the weapons are cool as fuck)
The Guild Gold Edition (hard to describe, it's an economic/politic/city builder thing, it's quite clunky of a game. I'd reccomend patrician 3 instead)

Also in good tier it should've been Aquanox 1, not 2.

Gothic 2
Spellforce Shadow Wars + Dragon Storm
Desperados
The Guild
