Political correctness aside, I feel that this is probably in theory a good idea for how to handle DLC packs for strategy games, have them be about introducing new units or unit skins rather than minicampaigns or battle packs. Is this thing available in multiplayer though? Because it'd be problematic if it were and turns out the female units are all horribly overpowered. As a strictly single-player thing I don't see much issue with it

Except the AI is still garbage, the battles are still Capture the Flag, the graphics are still worse than Shogun 2 (pic related) while performance is somehow 2x worse than Shogun 2 maxed out, sieges still don't work properly, no family trees, WarCraft 3 tier magic abilities, moshpits instead of fighting in rank, water transports are still the best naval units and so on and so forth.

Shogun 2 renewed all my hope for the series because of how fucking great it was - particularly the multiplayer.

And then this piece of shit comes along. Fuck Rome 2 and fuck CA for making it. I'm not spending a dime on Warhammer: Total War until I know it's a functioning and complete game that isn't streamlined to hell.

Fuck off. I love the TW franchise and I was super hyped about this game that I even preordered it. This game is the reason I don't pre order anymore. Pretty much ALL the Western nations have the exact same setup: heavy knights with a few heavy infantry. ONLY England bucks the trend by having longbows instead of Crossbows

All the Eastern nations have the same setup as well (Orthodox and Muslim btw). Light Cavalry (usually ranged) and light infantry (usually shit)

No one has any weird shit like elephants, chariots, or Berzerkers. No one has any infantry units that fight completely differently from each other. The Scots and HRE get some funny infantry, but all the infantry is basically the same as Dismounted Knights. Meanwhile, Rome 1 had Phallanxes (which could not run in formation), Hastati (only Roman infantry had throw weapons before a charge), Barbarians (only barbarian infantry could war cry).

Is it any different then the screaming ladies in Rome 1? I mean I feel like there was probably women in war but never in strictly female units rather they just served in militias against invaders and shit.

I've seen the AI on Rome 2 move to forests/scrub to protect themselves when I've had a skirmish edge on them which is honestly quite impressive. Though, it's quite rare I manage to have more skirmish power than the AI with how much they love devoting 6+ units of the army to either slingers or peltasts, usually only happens when I'm playing with Parthia or one of the nomad factions.

Learn a strategy and basic formation abilities.

Don't bother with archers unless you understand how to use them or you're sieging/defending - more often than not you'll just end up killing your own guys and they take up a slot that could be used for some melee units.

Large, cheap armies are better than small, expensive ones. Spam yari and sword ashigaru. Use the yari ashigaru to tank, and use the sword ashigaru to attack from the back or sides. Keep one or two regiments of yari ashigaru at your flanks if the enemy have cavalry. You can exchange these units for their samurai equivalents once you can afford it.

Cavalry are very good, but don't overdo it. I typically have 2 - 4 regiments of cavalry depending on the size of my army. Hide them in the forests and get them behind the enemy. Once the enemy engage your infantry, charge from behind. Do not attack spearmen with cavalry.

These are really basic and can be countered by skilled players easily, but if you learn the basics you can at least beat the AI in most cases. There are other units worth learning about - no-dachis, matchlocks, artillery, naginata, warrior monks and so on are all very powerful and have their uses, but they're worth picking up once you understand the game better.
