I went to a tourney a month ago, but I didn't play because I was still learning my way around project M and I was feeling a little under the weather, but from the looks of the competitors there, I probably could have taken most of them as ROB.

I watched my friend compete in the tourney and he did well until the 3rd round. In his first game of that round he played as Ike and his opponent played as Snake. My friend won the first match and I could tell that ticked off his opponent, so his opponent switch to Ganondorf and I shit you not, he just spammed side B and trapped my friend in an infinite loop and won the next two matches letting him move onto the semi-finals.

Now some people might see this as legit strategy, but I just see it as someone being a tryhard faggot. The other people competing were total bros and I spent some time playing Mario Kart with a real qt 3.14

I might enter the next tournament when it comes around, i've been getting better as Lucario and I want to see where i'm getting as him.

I'm pretty sure it's because "Tourneyfag" is a buzzword and has been for ages now.

A tourneyfag is a mediocre player who tries to emulate higher tier players because they're trying to get better. They emulate pros despite not knowing why the pros do the things they do themselves so they end up sucking anyway. Tourneyfags will suck the fun out of anything they play to try to look as pro as possible. They will bitch when they lose too because they refuse to look at what they did wrong.

This is the type of guy who will rage at other to play with no items in Smash and ban nearly every stage and assume FD is the most fair stage (even though it isn't, but they won't know this). A actual competent player knows why items are not allowed in tourneys but has no problem playing with them because they know exactly how to use them to their advantage. A competent player will always beat a lesser player whether items are on or not (probably even more since they can catch items thrown at them or perfect shield them).

I wonder how many people here have actually played with a tourneyfag.

As a Ganon player, you really have to guess where people are going to roll. Not only that but many seem to not know that you can instantly tech out of the choke so he can't follow up with it. I know exactly what you mean. My friend picked Ike and just walked up to me and did a forward smash. I was so intimidated that I would immediately side step or shield. Then he would just kill me at 60%. It was embarrassing how much I fell for that. Since then I've thought to use Ganon's forward smash more. Also throwing out a up smash doesn't hurt. Up air is the go to move that's very reliable but that up smash is too good to not use sparingly.

Pretty much, they count as an item, but not an item you can hold.

So you air dodge into them, and in braw/PM air dodging into an item causes you to pick it up. But since it's not an item you are suppose to be able to hold you automatically throw it, and it carries your momentum through.

It also works on the stage.

jigglypuff can't edgegaurd as well yes, but his rollout can now snap to ledges on almost every frame of it meaning you can grab zip twords is and grab it before someone else if both of you are offstage.

peach I feel is better in PM and can Bair-wall people better then in melee. you really have to play her differently though.

jigglypuff has one small buff that the devs refuse to acknowledge or don't even know its there (not that it isn't a good thing) and will soon be better due to people getting recovery nerfs.

Oracle plays tons of low tier characters, lots of people play Roy or have a pocket Roy (especially Sethlon, who is the best Roy), Dakpo is probably the best GnW, Awestin is the best Ness. most jigglypuffs can't handle pressure or being hit in general. you can bait them into using pound to attack which gives you an opening, and shielding before they use rest will result in a free falconpunch (even if you die you can falconpunch when jumping off anyways).

there are many things a jigglypuff has to deal with to not die, you only have to deal with 2

flashing should be canceled/shortened as well as angled downward to get it to work in close range, and is best used to hit someone on a platform while they are teching. I like jumping off the ledge and hitting someone on the main part of a stage when they are being too aggro, but this is a risky as well as a predictable thing to do and not really recommended

shining someone is odd I'll admit, so focus on using his Dair to hit someone to lead into it same sort of way falco does I guess.

because that is iceclimber's gimmick. you can control nana separately (to a degree) by desyching the iceclimbers due to Nana's delay on reacting to your inputs.
dashing back and forth 3 times, being hit, having only one L-cancel a move, or being in a grab are good ways to start that sorta shit.

DACUS in PM is a lot harder than it is in brawl.

Muscle memory, it's actually pretty easy once you have done it enough, also some character have a 3 frame window.

I've found the easiest way to do it was to actually think about the inputs needed.

For a longtime I was basically just doing all the inputs at once, but you nee an ever so slight delay on the attack input.

How I do it is, be dashing, quickly flick the cstick down to start a dash attack, while flicking the cstick down, mash the control stick up and hit Z.

A side note, character with a 1 frame window can't use Z to dacus as Z is simply the input for a grab (shield + attack, but it shields for 1 frame, then attacks on the second, which doesn't work for a 1 frame window.) You cna still do it by either hitting A, which is weird and uncomfortable as fuck while mashing down on the c-stick and up on the control stick. Or, but changing one of your button configs for the shoulder button you don't use. For instance I use L for wave dashing/ l-canceling and I never use R. So I bind R to attack.

So for me, I do this.

Dash, immediately hit down on the c-stick and up on the control stick, then immediately hit R.

DACUS isn't that hard once you get used to it. Even though it is essentially 3 inputs in at worst 1/60th of a second.
